WASHINGTON (CNN) – Todd Palin, the husband of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, will fill in for the former Republican vice presidential candidate this weekend at a series of high profile events, a Palin spokesperson confirms to CNN.
Palin, also known as Alaska's "first dude," will take his wife's spot Saturday at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the annual Washington event that draws a guest list of prominent journalists and Hollywood celebrities.
He will also appear at a Republican Governor's Association dinner Friday night, an event his wife was set to co-host as a thank you to donors who had contributed at least $25,000 to the organization.
The Alaska governor decided Thursday not to travel to Washington after declaring a state of emergency in Eagle, Alaska in the wake of record flooding.

Those of you finding fault with that are short-sighted, mean-spirited and have an uncanny ability to ignore the positive traits in people who you don't agree with politically — that's a rather dangerous combination of personality traits.

The only reason she is the least bit concerned about flooding in Alaska is because the latest polls show that her popularity has dropped from 85% in September to 54%. She is also getting a lot of negative reactions from Alaskans. Were they both invited or just her??????? If just her, then that is tacky to send him. Better yet maybe she could send one of those jerks from Fox because I am sure none of them are invited since it includes journalists and adjective that does not descrobe any of them
Um... yeah... that flooding took place last weekend and she had already done her due diligence of visiting declared disaster areas on Wednesday.
I recently was in Wasilla, AK...its nothing more than TRAILER TRASH. So, The 1st Dude and his full family, take your trailer trash back to Wasilla and stay there!! No one cares about you or your bastard grandchild.

Yes, we do have a Lt. Gov, but never see or hear from him. He's perfectly capable of filling in for our lovely Gov, but why send someone we elected when she can send family?!

Well, Sarah did her flyover of Eagle. Didn't land. Won't file for federal help until "all the spring flooding" is done (that will be well into most other state's summer). Eagle, meanwhile, has lost everything – clinic, downtown, most homes, fuel, food........
Didn't need flyby governorship, Sarah, 4 days too late and a VP candidate too short.
Who cares? Really, what does this matter in the least?

The term "White House Correspondent's Dinner" means it's for the newspeople who cover The White House.
And this certaintly is not State's business, it's a banquet for newspeople. With the media/Palin hate affair, I'm surprised she was invited and she accepted.
