Liz Cheney suggests Obama 'siding with terrorists'

(CNN) - Liz Cheney is picking up where her father left off when it comes to taking aim at the Obama administration, saying Tuesday the new commander-in-chief appears to be siding with terrorists.

In an interview on Fox News, the daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney sharply criticized the new administration for agreeing to release photographs depicting alleged abuses at U.S. prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush administration.

"I think it is really appalling that the administration is taking this step," she said in the interview. "Clearly what they are doing is releasing images that show American military men and woman in a very negative light."

"I have heard from families of service members from families of 9/11 victims this question about when did it become so fashionable for us to side, really, with the terrorists," she continued. "You know, President Obama has a lot of rhetoric about support for American military families, support for our men and women who are fighting for us overseas. But if he really cares about them, then he wouldn't be making such an effort to release photos that show them in a negative light."

Late last month, Pentagon officials said the hundreds of photographs released are from more than 60 criminal investigations from 2001 to 2006, and show military personnel allegedly abusing detainees. But the officials rejected allegations by the American Civil Liberties Union that the photos show a systemic pattern of abuse by the military.

In her interview Monday, Cheney also echoed recent calls from her father for the Obama administration to release classified documents detailing information yielded from the aggressive interrogation techniques since denounced by the president.

"They seem only to be interested in releasing things that really paint American in a negative light and don't give the American people a full picture of what went on," she said.

Ms Cheney...you are a nut case just like your worthless father! When you said, "They seem only to be interested in releasing things that really paint American in a negative light and don't give the American people a full picture of what went on" it was enough to make a person throw up.

Ya releasing photos of the results of bad decisions over the course of a decade is a terrible idea. Of course the decision to actually do the bad things depicted in the photos/memos/etc are perfectly ok.

It's like an arsonist being mad at the fire department for putting out a fire and then blaming the fire department for their methods.

    Liz Cheney,
I guess you're too dumb to realize the United States prosecuted Japenese offficials for waterboarding American POW's during World War 2 for violating the International Laws against waterboarding within the Geneva convention. And eventhough the Japenese illegally used those tactics against us......who won that war ??? It's the principle of International law.....
Get an education before you "open your mouth".

  6. Nathan,

Apparently the Cheney family is a criminal enterprise and not just one rogue individual . Obama does care about military families. What he dosen't care about is criminals. That is what the people who performed and approved these acts are. I believe Cheney falls into that catagory. For this airhead to suggest that criminals acts shold not be brought to light is a continuation of the monarchy Cheney and Bush tried to create when they were in office. Someone should tell this bubblehead that this is a democracy and that the government answers to the people and the people have a right to know.

I fail to see how one is siding with terrorists when they are simply putting the truth out there. It is obvious that Liz is a liar like her dad and his side kick George Bush (both). I still feel Tricky Dick and Karl Rove were the ones in charge and not George. Now they can't help but run around and continue to try and cover up the many wrongs they did to the American population as well as the international community. It will take many years for us to recover as a country because of the total mismanagement inflicted by the Bush/Cheney/Rove clan. These three people drove us backwards by 20 years in 8 years. Good riddance.

Which is worse? To cover up and not admit that we tortured prisoners or to cover up and not admit that our civilian leaders authorized this abuse.

The Cheney's are disgusting, it seems that they only talk about points that support their argument and not the whole truth. Also why does this article claim that what happened at those prisons, in photos and reports, are 'alleged' abuses. The senate committee report said that waterboarding is torture. Yeah Obama released the photos, many people are saying that the information was bound to be released anyway. The people who are ashamed by this chapter should be ashamed–it is shameful behavior–this is not an indictment on the entire armed forces only on those who did the bad deeds. Again the big question that Lynn and Dick seem to avert is whether or not we could've gotten the same or better information using other techniques and not torture. The answer is yes according to many experts. Everything about this war was false, from the arguments leading up to it; to the information we got from the "enhanced interrogation techniques"

Why do I care what she has to say? Because she is the daughter of a former VP? How about interviewing people who are actual experts on things and not "famous" because of their parents.

"Vice President Dick Cheney"? How about: "Former Vice President Dick Cheney"? Or, to keep it simple, how about: "Mr. Irrelevant" ?

If the pictures 'show American military men and woman in a very negative light' it's because they show men and women doing what the Military Penal Code FORBID them to do.
And what exactly Ms. Cheney (and all neocons for that matter) sugests that he should do? DENY THAT IT HAD HAPPENED??!!!
Just a clue, that would be 'obstruction of justice' and 'perjury'.

"They seem only to be interested in releasing things that really paint American in a negative light and don't give the American people a full picture of what went on," I'd say the release of those photo's filled the picture that the former administration refused to paint. Where are those weapons of mass destruction again???????

If Barak or Michelle Obama ever comes to our base and says that they supports military families I will turn my back and walk away. Words are cheap, their actions speak much louder than their words.

Would somebody please tell all the Cheneys to shut up! Bush and Cheney did their best to destroy this country during the last eight years. They should just go away now and let us try to put the pieces back together.
