(CNN) - Liz Cheney is picking up where her father left off when it comes to taking aim at the Obama administration, saying Tuesday the new commander-in-chief appears to be siding with terrorists.
In an interview on Fox News, the daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney sharply criticized the new administration for agreeing to release photographs depicting alleged abuses at U.S. prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush administration.
"I think it is really appalling that the administration is taking this step," she said in the interview. "Clearly what they are doing is releasing images that show American military men and woman in a very negative light."
"I have heard from families of service members from families of 9/11 victims this question about when did it become so fashionable for us to side, really, with the terrorists," she continued. "You know, President Obama has a lot of rhetoric about support for American military families, support for our men and women who are fighting for us overseas. But if he really cares about them, then he wouldn't be making such an effort to release photos that show them in a negative light."
Late last month, Pentagon officials said the hundreds of photographs released are from more than 60 criminal investigations from 2001 to 2006, and show military personnel allegedly abusing detainees. But the officials rejected allegations by the American Civil Liberties Union that the photos show a systemic pattern of abuse by the military.
In her interview Monday, Cheney also echoed recent calls from her father for the Obama administration to release classified documents detailing information yielded from the aggressive interrogation techniques since denounced by the president.
"They seem only to be interested in releasing things that really paint American in a negative light and don't give the American people a full picture of what went on," she said.

Support the troops?
No one has done more to destroy the readiness and morale of our military personnel – and their families – than Dick Cheney.
Ms. Cheney, these pictures are merely showing U.S. service men and women as they followed orders handed down by your father. Unfortunately, these orders happened to require the service men and women to commit felonies.
Cliff Cantor said it well, but I would make it stronger: "It is time for the Cheney's to leave the country alone" – what about "It is time for the Cheney's to leave the country together "?
Oh please she doing the same thing her dad did and is still doing and you guys (media) is helping her along!!!!! This to must end!!! Noting but lies
OK, so it's apalling to show these pictures but it's not apalling to actually do the deeds the pictures show. Is that right? She's a nut job just like her old man.
The logic behind this statement seems to be as follows:
"Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil."
This same sort of logic could have been used to silence holocaust wistleblowers in Nazi Germany during WWII. A different order of magnitude, to be true, but we would surely deny that if pictures of SS forced labor camps had been available, the right and moral thing for the German government to do would have been to release them. Hiding wrongdoing because it could hurt the reputation of the wrongdoer is the same as giving the wrongdoer carte-blance to commit atrocities.
I'd like to thank the Cheneys for reminding Americans why we hate & rejected Republicans. Every day. Keep up the GREAT work, guys!
So I guess the pictures just took themselves huh? Nobody wants to take responsibility for what's happening in the pictures, or for who authorized the activity. Nevermind the fact that somebody took pictures of it. Where is the responsibility? The accountability? Stop trying to blame this on Obama! He's siding with terrorists? How ridiculous do you sound. If this behavior was never authorized, if the behavior was never exhibited, if the behavior was never documented, then there would be nothing for Obama to approve or dissaprove! Get over it. Take responsibility and realize that some times you just get caught and you have to pay the price. Unfortunately, we will all pay the price for Bush & Cheney's illegal war.
Well, I think that the truth about what really is going on should come to the publics eyes. So what if the videos are being shown, Liz Cheney needs to shut her mouth talking all that crap and needs to realize what is truly happening!!!
..."Clearly what they are doing is releasing images that show American military men and woman in a very negative light."...
Well, at least she has a discernment of what is negative ! But she has no clue that America is larger than ,even, her father's arrogant approach towards human rights. We have to "fix" these things up and the only way is to talk about it like the very old American way... Not to show how incompetent the last administration was is to allow it to happen again, we just cannot afford it !
And your father did such a wonderful job for all of us Liz?
I'll take a little bit of Democratic diplomacy over Fascist torture any day of the week.
Way to go, Fox News!!!!! Whatever would we do without this network giving these criminals a forum for their lies. It's bad enough we Americans had to put up with him for eight freaking years. Now we STILL have to see his stupid face on television and that of his kid, too?? When is it going to be the mother's turn??????

Maybe its just me, but it gets easier to see Dick Cheney as American as Charlie Manson. If you recall, a lot of people blindly followed Charlie off a cliff too."
Just like a lot of people are blindly following Obama.
If anyone made things unsafe for American military members, it is her father, the war criminal and war profiteer Dick Cheney.
Why are they so afraid of the truth. Releasing the pictures is not the issue. The fact that these actions were done is the issue. Don't you folks see that hiding the truth that this activity was done is worse than the act itself. The America I want to be a part of is rightous and just. America is founded on Justice For All. If some people need to get embarrased or punished for their crimes to fulfill that ideal, so be it. If you don't want our military to be embarrased by some bad pictures, guess what – don't let the military do bad things that can be photographed.
Explain why her opinion matters. This is difficult to do, especially when one consider's the Gene Pool from which she sprung.
Where do we "side with the terrorists"? This one confuses me. Is she saying that we shouldn't tell the truth if we feel it hurts our image? That whistle-blowing and moral integrity are un-american somehow? I suppose exposing Enron was siding with the terrorists, as that undoubtedly weakened our economy for some time...
If we didn't do this kind of thing we wouldn't have to worry about admitting it to the public/covering it up.
It disgusts me that the Bush/Cheney administration is the one that put soldiers in harm's way for an unnecessary war in Iraq that was underfunded and under-supplied, and now they're talking about who does and does not care about our military. Please. The Cheneys have done more to support terrorists and anti-American sentiment around the world than any family in memory.
Who cares what Liz Cheney thinks? Her father despoiled the reputation of America and wasted billions of dollars on a bogus war.
The Cheney's are the PAST. I wish that the press would stop covering them. Republicans lost the election; they have no vision for the future; they ok'd torture; broke laws, shredded our constitution.Especially, Cheney – he's an evil, mean-spirited man that has no capacity for change. Can anyone imagine the thought/judgement processes of anyone that would choose Limbaugh over Colin Powell? Stop the coverage, please. No body cares......
The more you repeat a lie, the more you're likely to believe it. Keep talking Liz. It was fortunate for you that Eugene Robinson is truly a gentleman.
Like Liz Cheney would know what the "real picture" was...and I really believe that military families and families of 9/11 victime are e-mailing and texting her...If it weren't for her father, we may have captured the mastermind behind 9/11 by now rather than be bogged down in Iraq. And by the way, if her father had his way, she would not be able to live her chosen lifestyle (lesbian)...
It's always about fear with these people. We are not so scared that we don't have values anymore, Liz. Quit hiding behind victims of terrorists. Quit hiding behind soldiers. Cheney chose the policy, the pictures simply show its implementation. If this shows the military in a bad light, it shows Dick Cheney in an even worse one. Did Bush really know what was going on?
I think, after 8 years of the Bush and Cheney dog and pony show, that maybe Richard Nixon was not such a bad guy after all.
Hey Dick, how does it feel to be the new Nixon?
Too bad your dad and Bush ought to be locked up for incompetence.
Cheney is just a bitter old man. Who in their right mind is listening to anything the right wing extremists and zealots have to say anyway?
After what has taken place in this country the last eight years?
Now thats appaling
