HERNDON, Virginia (CNN) – Bill Clinton jokingly laughed off a question Wednesday about former Vice President Dick Cheney and his recent claims that the country is less safe under the Obama administration.
"I wish him well," Clinton told CNN while greeting voters after a campaign stop with Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe. "It's over," he added, apparently a reference to the Bush administration.
"But I do hope he gets some more target practice before he goes out again," Clinton said with a grin before moving along the ropeline.
The former president was alluding, of course, to Cheney's infamous 2006 hunting accident in which he mistakenly fired birdshot into the face of a campaign contributor during a South Texas quail hunt.

Clinton great? He signed the bill that overrode Glass-Steagall making himself a major player in the mess we are in today! He was a very good president, great ones don't make major mistakes like that.
I think he's right! It is over and the sooner Cheney figures it out the better. I like how Bill Clinton approached this. Perhaps Cheney should shut up and sing...a different tune, or not at all.
God bless the current President of the United States, Barack Obama.
P.S. God, please don't let Mr. Cheney hunt in my neighborhood.
What a perfect comment, that maybe even Cheney, his daughter and entire crew might get....IT"S OVER!!!! Your time is up!
Cheney is a joke.
Did Bill get his law license back yet? Since it was suspended because he is a first class swine.
Prison inmates are waiting for Dick and Condi.
If the republican party is to survive, the voices of Limbaugh, Cheney, O'Reily, and fox news have to die out. It's turning off the American people in large droves. Look at the numbers. Fewer and fewer people are identifying as republican in national polls.
I think he is not getting many speaking opportunities like most ex-Presidents and VPs do. He sounds like a frustrated person who is hell bent on further ruining his party. He does not realize the damage he (covertly) has done to the country and the Republican party which has some very nice individuals. Unfortunately I cant say the same for Dick.
C should take Ru.sh and what remains of the repugnants, one and all, on his next hunting trip – the nice guy that he is!
Good zinger Bill! At least Bush knows enough to keep his big mouth shut. too bad that Cheney didn't get the same memo!
Pat Smith May 13th, 2009 5:40 pm ET, "When he was in the White House he never said a word. Now he won't shut up. If anything happens to Obama and he does not ge elected does that mean Biden can come back..."

Pat, I think VP Cheney took advice from Pres Carter's and VP Gore's playbooks, which Pres Clinton also seems to endorse (but not to the same degree). Once Pres Carter and VP Gore violated the unwritten "don't comment on subsequent Administrations" rule, all bets were off. Don't blame the Repubs on this one.
With all that Clinton did when he was in office for the economy, he deserved that **** job.
Good 'ole Bill Clinton!!!
waterboard the moderator.
Mr. Cheney should go to his house, and stay there until he dies.
Gotta love Bill Clinton. I wouldn't go duck hunting with Dick Cheney if you paid me.
Thanks President Clinton:
For the best economy of my lifetime
For the 22 million jobs you created
For the successful end to ethnic cleansing in Bosnia
For the balanced budget
For the budgest surplus
etc....
etc.....
Wow, I guess CNN only likes the shrill comments, like casting for a "reality" show. I won't bother with any other comments. (Just pointed out to fellow liberals that Bill was indeed, like it or not, outrageous or not, abuse of power or not, impeached.)

Agreed on that point. He signed off on so many Republican Revolution measures it wasn't even funny. But he was still more fiscally conservative than 40, 41 and especially 43!
If you look at it in terms of accomplishments and not partisan party lines, then Bill Clinton is the best Republican president we ever had.
I love Cheney and that fat daughter of his talking too much about torture. It is the most ignorant response ever to assess that you can perform a crime by redefining the definition of the crime by getting a sleek attorney to rewrite the definition. Sad state of affairs for a party that already lied to the American people, the military, our allies, and, the world.
FDR lied, millions died. Ike should've prosecuted Truman for war crimes. Hahahahahaha. Idiot libs.

Funny you don't hold Newt Gingrich in the same contempt.... He was cheating on his wife WHILE he was going after Bill!
You are a class 1 hypocrite.
Ken, hate to rain on your parade… but…. Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives on December 19, 1998. Perhaps YOU should check your facts. Midwest Guy.................................................................................................
Midwest Guy – Hate to rain on your hate parade but Bill Clinton was ACQUITTED by the US Senate in January 1999.
And he left office with the highest approval rating of any President in 60 years.
I firmly believe that it is good for the Democrats and Independents to keep Cheney, Limbaugh, Hannity and Coulter out in the limelight. Even some of my Republican acquaintances arae getting fed up with the way they are operating. To be sure they are Moderates.
