CIA denies Cheney request on interrogations

Dick Cheney asked for classified CIA documents to be released.
Dick Cheney asked for classified CIA documents to be released.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The CIA rejected former Vice President Dick Cheney's request to declassify records of abusive interrogations of suspected terrorists, a spokesman for the spy agency said Thursday.

In a written statement, CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said the two documents Cheney requested are the subject of a pending lawsuit and cannot be declassified.

Cheney has said he wants the documents released so there can be a more "honest debate" on the Bush administration's approval of "alternative" interrogation techniques against suspected terrorists. He argued that those techniques provided valuable intelligence that saved American lives, but critics say they amounted to the illegal torture of prisoners in U.S. custody.

How convenient that Leon Panetta won't allow them to be released. I just don't understand why everybody says that democrats are hypocrits?

It's really nasty how the Libtards are conflating the interrogation issue and Abu Graib. The Abu Ghraib disgrace was a bunch of sick, drunk MP's getting their jollies, and all were court-marshalled and convicted. There was no interrogating going on there, of any kind. But I guess Abu Ghraib is more photogenic. If you can't win on the facts, just make up your own facts, eh, Libs?

"Torture" is the liberals' version of "partial birth abortion". So what that waterboarding is not actually torture, that it stopped completely in 2005, that Congress knew all about it, that three people were waterboarded, and that it saved thousands of lives? As long as it gets the moronic liberal base worked up, and the campaign contributions flowing in, let's keep milking it for all it's worth! This has Rahm Emmanuel's fine hand written all over it – he has nothing on Karl Rove!

It is a wonder why so many continue to simply follow the blind about spewing the hatred of Bush and Cheney. Here he is asking for the documents to be released so the people can actually see them for what they are and yet the majority of these people simply are drones who repeat the moveon phrases. Where is the truth about this? I for one would like to read exactly what was done, by whom and who knew it was being done. Is that not possible? What information was gained and was it correct or a giant failure – that is for us to read not to be spoon fed by those in public office. On another note, I love seeing pelosi squirm – how about her ratings!

    Here's a little experiment.
Save all these comments, print them out.
Substitute the names Cheney and Bush with Biden and Obama, and read them again in 2011.
Anyone care to take the bet that we'll be saying the same things with different names?

What’s with the coward Cheney he didn’t have the spine to run for president on his own. His health couldn’t have been a problem seeing how we see him on every news show. Chaney always needed a front man to blame.

So Obamaroid probably directed the CIA not to release any memos that might favor the Bush Administration. Geepers, what a suprise! You two-faced liberal pukes see nothing wrong with bending the truth to fit your sick view of the world. You call conservatives fascist, yet your little propoganda ploys match anything Gerbels produced. Oh, please go into a rage and call me your cute little names. It feeds me....

So sick of Dick Cheney and his little games. Why didn't he testify under oath and in public when he had a chance. In NY, he proclaimed there is a "great conspiracy" against him and his neocon pals.

This man was and will alwys be an enemy to peace and mutual respect both inside the country and the broader world.

Obama promised the most "Transparent Administration", Attorney General Holder says "We're not going to play hide and seek with information."......

And then the Obama Administration DENIES releasing information.

    What's another broken promise??

Why would Obama's people want the public to hear how the Bush Administration STOPPED another terrorist attack?

Cheney’s arrogance will not let him keep his mouth shut. When he was VP all he ever said was he doesn’t have to explain anything because he’s only answerable to George W. Now all over a sudden he wants our listening ears. Sad to say but Cheney is busy preaching “the end justifies the means” summon and sure enough he has an audience for that kind of talk. But then again he might just be jealous of his cousin Obama being POTUS. Colin Powell asked Bush/Cheney what they would do with 27 million Iraqis after Saddam was gone and they told him not to worry because they’ll treat the US troops as liberators, we all know how far from the truth that turned out. One advice for Cheney: Don’t shoot your friends anymore you don’t have executive privileges anymore.

Cheney knew those documents could not be declassified because they were part of a lawsuit. Cheney is playing mind games to make it look like the Bush administration had nothing to hide, knowingly that the records was not going to be release!!

And if the records was showing that it was not torture, why don't the conservat ives want the pictures release. You can't have it both ways. The conservatives don't want those pictures shown or records release because it would be a big embarassment to the United States and it will prove torture.

It's not about legal or illegal. It that torture doesn't work and all the information is questionable. Why torture when the data could just misdirect resources? Cheney and the Bush administration had an agenda and they wanted to provide cover for everything they did. WMDs? NO!, Al Qeada and Iraq? No! over 3000 dead American on US soil on their watch? Yes! Violations of the constitution? Yes And the hits keep coming..... Why do we even give them air time anymore?

The fact that Barry Hussein's CIA won't release the documents tells us all we need to know.......obviously the documents will prove that Cheney is correct and that the fraternity pranks that we used to get info from the despicable animals at Guantanamo worked.

No comment here, just some questions...
    What's the pending lawsuit about?
Does it have anything to do with Cheney's round of recent interviews? Why does Cheney want the interrogation documents released when he thought public knowledge of the interrogations themselves would compromise American security?

Lets hope that should this country ever fall victim to those who hate us the most, that those that voiced their opinions against torture are the very first to be tortured by our tormentors. We did it for information to save their sorry asses and our captors will do it for the shear joy of doing it. Lets line up folks, as the liberals are the only voices I hear crying foul.
Remember too that it was the liberal Democrats, Kennedy and Johnson that started the Vietnam war for some of the most preposterous reasons and condoned torture of the worst kind and were responsible for killing 50,000 of our young men in a war that made no sense. If we are going to investigate torture, lets take a hard look at the bombs we dropped under the Truman administration killing nearly 100,000 women and children instantly and several hundred trhousand more over the next 40 years through radiation poisoning. So, when we start pointing our fingers over a little torture, rememberr the past and the examples we already set for the world.

Chaney hide when he was a Vice President now he is former Vice President and he just can't shut up. He needs a life. Can he just take some time with his wife, children and grand children and get a way for a while. O! I forget, he does not know how to do that bvecause he has never done that.
    Sad!
