CIA denies Cheney request on interrogations

Dick Cheney asked for classified CIA documents to be released.
Dick Cheney asked for classified CIA documents to be released.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The CIA rejected former Vice President Dick Cheney's request to declassify records of abusive interrogations of suspected terrorists, a spokesman for the spy agency said Thursday.

In a written statement, CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said the two documents Cheney requested are the subject of a pending lawsuit and cannot be declassified.

Cheney has said he wants the documents released so there can be a more "honest debate" on the Bush administration's approval of "alternative" interrogation techniques against suspected terrorists. He argued that those techniques provided valuable intelligence that saved American lives, but critics say they amounted to the illegal torture of prisoners in U.S. custody.

This man is the poster child for right-wing corpulence! He and his accomplices should be in jail. If we are not a nation of law anymore, then the terrorists have already won!

Let's try the same techniques on Cheney and then ask his opinion of whether it is torture or not!!!!!!! Until then he should shut up and go away.

Look Cheney, why don't you and the Bush degenerates just fade into the sunset. you have left this country in one hell of a mess. Now you and your republican media are trying to lay all the debt at the feet of Obama. You make me want to puke. Bill Clinton left you three trillion dollars in which your party gave away within three months of taking office. From a balanced economy you inherited we are now in a situation of Social Security and Medicare boing busted in seven years. What we need REALLY IS ANOTHER DARN REPUBLCAN IN OFFICE. YEAH MAN!!! 'Gimme a break as Bill says.'

Remember the quote: " patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."

This guy tries so hard to wrap himself in the moral flag of being so holy and pure, when he is himself the devil incarnate.

How many secret prisons do we have around the world? Bush and Cheney consistently lied about torture and they also lied about torture camps we have hidden around the world.

X-Vice President Cheney knows something he feels we need to know. With President Obama making a quick 180 on the release of the interrogation photos, I think I'd like to hear what Cheney thinks is so relevant. They're all in the same boat now.

Some one should arrest this traitor and charge him with war crimes. A modern day benedict arnold, this guy is, entirely ingnoring the constitution of the United States, that this country was founded upon.

    We do not torture!

If A member of my family was in danger Idon't care what has to be done waterboarding, or any other technique to make them talk I would want and expect to be done. War is not pretty and if anyone thinks being nice to these. People will work in every case is living in a fantasy world

Folks, this is ridiculous. We're never going to come to a consensus on the subject. I don't like the idea of pulling nails or electrocution, but I do know that saying 'pretty please tell us what you know' is not going to work either.
Whatever was done to the terrorists (who did give up information that saved American lives!) at least they still have their heads.

  19. The Party of NO stood by calmly as the shrub raped and pillaged America, why should we listen to you now?

How does it feel to just an average American with zippo power to throw your weight around, dick?

Remember those "executive privileges" that were invoked on your behalf. now it is begin used against you.

    Kinda makes me tear up.

While Bush/Cheney were running the country, Cheney said eveything was classified and would not release or discuss anything. Now he asks that this be released.
    What a moronic jerk!

Why should the CIA grant ANYTHING to Cheney? He's the one that was all for the torture methods. He knows what in the documents. I wish he'd just go away. He's part of the problem, definitely not part of the solution.

The CIA knows perfectly well that the two memos would prove that nothing in the way of useful information was gained from torturing high value prisoners. That's the real reason they won't release the memos. The coverup continues even today.
