Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh responded Thursday to recent comments by Roberta McCain, the mother of Republican Sen. John McCain.
Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh responded Thursday to recent comments by Roberta McCain, the mother of Republican Sen. John McCain.

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh responded to Roberta McCain's criticism of his tough radio persona Thursday, joking over the fact "McCain's mother is dumping on me."

"She is absolutely right" in her assessment that that she belongs to a different Republican Party than he does, Limbaugh said during his radio show: "The Republican Party she belongs to gets shellacked election after election after election."

In an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Wednesday, the outspoken 97-year-old mother of Sen. John McCain said, to cheers from the audience, that Limbaugh "does not represent the Republican Party that I belong to."

"I belong to the Republican Party," she said. "What he represents of the Republican Party has nothing to do with my side of it. I don't know what the man means, I don't know what he's talking about."

On his show Thursday, Limbaugh made clear he found the criticism quite amusing.

"Sending Sen. McCain's mother out to dump on me?" Limbaugh said, laughing. "I love it."

Anyone who takes Rush seriously does so at his/her own risk. Remember, he's an entertainer. he makes his money saying outrageous things. It's a sad time for our country that we now take someone like this seriously. We're going down fast...

@ frank

Frank? Frank Burns is that you?

All you conservatives offer is derisive, hate-filled politics. No solutions, no direction, no hope.

Perhaps if you'd get off your high horse and quit worshipping at the altar of Limbaugh and actually offer Americans something that resembles policy, you might win an election or two.

Yes it is not the Republican party she joined it is now the GOP (Greedy Orligarchical Plutocrat) party Rush Limbaugh aka the
Great Right Liar said that Mrs Mcain's Republican party gets
beat election after election yea like in 1952 and 1956 or in 1968
and 1972 or in 1980, 1984

The old witch of the desert did the same thing to Romney about his religion, and she did it on national TV. Sorry, Rush is a little bombastic at times, but this time he's right. Can't Cindy McCain cough up some more millions for the "old guy" and get better PR than his dried up old stupid fossil mother?

Vermonter   May 14th, 2009 5:36 pm ET

Limbaugh you are a tool!

Jake   May 14th, 2009 5:35 pm ET

of course!
if he's not hitting back at gays, women, minorities...why not go after a 97 year old woman. he is THAT GUY

A new 400 million contract while all the Demorats are unable to get a show. Should tell you something folks. Even the Idiot Demo's are listening to him. When OBummer falls they will say they agreed with him all along. Why? Demo's have no spine, no eithcs, and no honor.

Ia Guy   May 14th, 2009 5:35 pm ET

They should split the Republicans, one called the Conservative party, the other a Rational one. Problem solved!

Chaun   May 14th, 2009 5:35 pm ET

I must have missed something. She dumps on Rush and he basically laughs about it. Like him or not, he did not go after a 97 year old women. How ignorant are some of you to state he did? L for liberal, L for Liars.

David   May 14th, 2009 5:34 pm ET

I keep thinking conservatives have had rock bottom, but they continue to sink lower and lower and lower. They seem to be going out of their to destroy all memory of their once power political status. They have become a national joke.

brenda   May 14th, 2009 5:33 pm ET

I have always thought that Rush is a closet liberal. Why else would he continue talking the way he does and drive people out of the party? Think about it. He is the perfect mole!

Adnan Hussain   May 14th, 2009 5:33 pm ET

FLUSH DUMB-BAUGH is the hillbilly ruining America. President Obama is still trying to clean up the mess the Republicans created over the last eight years.

Rush and Ann Coulter represent the WORST in America. He is not a spokeman for the Republican Party and he is definitely not an entertainer. He is a biased hypocritical typical right wing nut. Any radio station or any company that he represents immediately goes on my boycott list.

CopperGal   May 14th, 2009 5:33 pm ET

I've been a Democrat all of my life and I would dearly love to have a Republican party around that provided some competition. Unfortunately the Republicans are going so low on their practices and behavoirs that I am embarrassed for them. When I was growing up in Arizona, Barry Goldwater was King. Goldwater believed in the least government intervention as possible. Even in the bedroom. The Republican party of today wants to push their ideas on everybody else whether they want them or not. Mrs. McCain is right. The Republican party isn't the same one it was 40 years ago. 40-50 years ago, the Republican's expressed their ideas, not called other people names, they believed in less law, not more laws that infringed on peoples personal rights. Poor Barry would roll in his grave if he knew what some of the Republicans do these days.

alvino   May 14th, 2009 5:33 pm ET

Lard ass just could not let it go. He just had to take on a 97 year old and try to discredit her. Even Glenn Beck, the mental midget, would have let this go. Rush should know that it will take 70 million to beat Obama in the next election, and his small, by comparison, following is not going to get the job done.

george   May 14th, 2009 5:33 pm ET

Here's what I really hate about Limbug and his running dog Hattiny–when you want to challenge something misleading, or malicious, or downright stupid that they say , you cannot, because you will not be allowed on the air. Once in a while they carefully screen a not-so -smart caller and let him/her on to cynically give a whiff of fairness.
I would love a chance to go toe to toe with either one of them and whup their ass.

Crazy ass human being   May 14th, 2009 5:32 pm ET

What if Limplips had a radio show and nobody listened.
Boycott his advertisers, whoever they are (I don't listen to the moron)
Why he isn't booted of the air is beyond me. The did it to the I Man.

Republicans are the American Taliban   May 14th, 2009 5:32 pm ET

I buy nothing from any of his shows advertisers, nor from any of the Fox advertisers. Like they spoke of President Obama's budget cuts being a teaspoon of sand in the desert; folks, between us all, we can drive all these freaks off the air forever....

Linda from Fresno   May 14th, 2009 5:31 pm ET

The Republicans need to speak out against Rush however, there are people who believe in him. Maybe he wants to destroy the Republcian party or does he just want to start his own party. Whatever the case may be he definitely wants to take over something. I am disappointed he has sponsors. Those folks who like him will listen, the rest of us can change the channel. Let him keep talking and talking and talking the only folks who listen are those who like him. He seems to be making a fool of himself all by himself we need not respond to his vitriolic rhetoric. He makes Hugo Chavez look like a saint.

hellokitti   May 14th, 2009 5:31 pm ET

Limbaugh is the dinosaur here, not Mama McCain. The Party of Goldwater and Eisenhower are why people respected Republicans. It is the Republican Party of Rush that has lost that respect. Bring back Mama McCain's venerable old GOP and the Dems would be in for it.

Scott   May 14th, 2009 5:31 pm ET

The Republicans need to be smart, start another party for the fringe Limbaugh-Born again base and then Start a Libertarian Republican Party, based on LIbertarian, social-neutral, economic conservative values. Perhaps Romney could run on that ticket.

I think then the 20% or so could stay in teh GOP or start a COP (Christian Old Party) and then the new Repubilcans can get out of the culture war, and attract Independents. Then we'll have a new 2 party system!

This is the only way the Republican Ideals will work and survive, unite them to Libertarianism.

sara   May 14th, 2009 5:30 pm ET

I am a registered Dem but vote Independent. Megan McCain is the voice and hope of the Republican Party. They would be smart to support her right now...but they won't...too bad for us all. Regardless of our polictical view, we need bright, caring visionaries running our country. Megan is the real deal...

JW   May 14th, 2009 5:30 pm ET

Rush is empowered by cnn for more audience in addition to the radio show he is generating revenue for. He is an entertainer shellacking his radio show for God sake. McCain's Mom is a life time republican and has twice Rush's age of experience. Leave her alone already!!

Free-thinker   May 14th, 2009 5:30 pm ET

Rush is so much louder with a Dem in the white house. He's loving all the attention he gets just for saying something outrageous. And I am loving all the turmoil he is causing amongst conservatives. Keep up the ridiculous comments Rush! The rifts you create only strengthen the liberal agenda. And PLEASE continue to preach about what a true conservative is to those people that need to be told what to think. The more you define who belongs in "your" party the more rifts you cause within a party with a lack of direction.

She belonged to the GOP that produced men such as Dwight Eisenhower.....and she probably was just born after the reign of Teddy Roosevelt......Republicans worth the mention.....who by the way fought wars effectively, stopped wars, & taxed and spent..and built the America we know today.....
Teddy Roosevelt had the gumption to speak of universal healthcare, and confront the massive corporations engaged in corruption(known as the trust buster) of his time......and give America the "Square Deal".......He also made the panama canal Deal, and grew government w/ the FDA.....He was concerned about the tearing down of our Pristine environment, and set up national Parks like Yellowstone, and set apart the Grand Canyon....
Eisenhower built the interstate highways, and was involved in peace talks for the korean war.......he sent U.S. troops to intergrate a Liitle Rock Arkansas highschool.
She knew far better republicans than we knew.....Rush you're right she's not part of the GOP that exist now.....

good for rush! the routine is now established. someone who is related to a politician, such as mc cain's mom or daughter or someone who had a job with a covert agency or the army, etc., wants to get his/her 15 minutes of fame. so they attack limbaugh/bush/cheney/palin/the army/the cia. the liberal press gleefully picks it up and gives it wide coverage. this is all nonsense. these people don't know what they are talking about and shouldn't get 15 seconds, much less 15 munutes.

and how about that pelosi. first she denied being briefed about interrogation techniques, now she says she was briefed but was misled by the cia. yada yada yada!

How is it that every Republican forgets what we had before Bush came into office and what he left us with? If he'd used the MBA he received from Yale, MAYBE we wouldn't be in this mess. Then again, these same people forget what the supposedly great Reagan did as well, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

Frosty Canuck   May 14th, 2009 5:23 pm ET

Liberal fools who took the Republican party away from it's Conservative values caused the election loss. McCain looked so tired and he tried to ride 2 horses. I lost track of the number of times he called himself a maverick and said he would cross the floor to govern. As a Conservative, I don't want a leader who puts his values aside and that's what I heard McCain promise repeatedly. As a result, Republican voters rejected him. Too bad because now America has a President who has NO VALUES. And Mrs. McCain has the limp Republican party that she thinks will win. Foolishness knows no age limit. If Liberals actually listen to what Rush says instead of clucking like a bunch of angry hens you will actually hear that the man understands what makes America great and he's giving you the means to get that back. But even some who read this will start to cluck your heads off and accuse me of all sorts of impolite things.

Rodger   May 14th, 2009 5:23 pm ET

I think I would abstain from saying the Republican Party is dead until after 2010. We might get the surprise of a life time. Also you might remember the Democratic party did not have enough members to Elect Obama, it took The RINO's crossing over but now they say they are depressed with Buyer’s Remorse.

Marge   May 14th, 2009 5:23 pm ET

Gee Limbaugh goes after people with MS, and now 90+ woman.
Goodness doesn't this guy have any character?

But then you people out there must remember he is a member of the republican party of NO. And he is defending the fact that he is pulling in billions of dollars from the trashing of those who are sick and old. Makes him look like a macho man doesn't it. Or does it make him look like any oxcy guy. You take your choice.

Mike   May 14th, 2009 5:23 pm ET

Fuzzbee in LA   May 14th, 2009 5:22 pm ET

Another gaseous emission from Rush Limbaugh! Sad that just about the only Republican with enough guts to stand up to him is a 97 year-old woman. There you have it, folks...the new face of the Republican party is a high blood pressure, zero tolerance, we're-the-only-real-Americans, arrogant, ignorant, torture-loving, wrong-every-time amalgamation of Limbaugh, Dick Cheney and Newt Gingrich.

Good luck winning an election, kids. Do any other Republicans have the balls to stand up to this windbag? Or are you hopeless ditto-heads?

johnMchenry   May 14th, 2009 5:22 pm ET

Erik from Denver, CO   May 14th, 2009 5:22 pm ET

Actually Rush, you belong to the GOP that loses election after election after election. If you can't see that, then you're probably back on the OxyContin.

Oh wait... I'm not allowed to make fun of that. Sure, you're allowed to pick on a 97 year old woman, but for some reason, nobody is supposed to bring up your ILLEGAL DRUG USE.

zarathustrafarensis   May 14th, 2009 5:22 pm ET

The people I feel most sorry for are the few idiots that left comments supporting that fat sack of pills. They are from HIS (Rush's) party, the "Republemmings"! Go on, run as fast as you can over the nearest cliff. It's fun to watch this slow motion self-destruction pick up speed every time this self-promoting moron opens his drug-popping pie-hole! I didn't vote for Sen. McCain, but I'd vote for his Momma!

Rush Limbaugh is out of line when he begins to "hit" our elderly, who have been the key contributors to our country....and on whose shoulders he stands. If this is what the Republican Party stands for..then they deserve to lose all elections.

Our elders have always been there to support the greatness of our country and have fought and given their lives and the lives of their children to protect our freedom....including Limbaugh's freedom of speech.

The Republican Party needs muzzles for all those who do not know respect!

Your career may be nearing its end, but Limbaugh just gifted you with an opoprtunity to go out with a bang instead of a whimper. He attacked your MOM. It's now your turn to say "enough is enough" and actually fight for something you believe in instead of waffling and kowtowing. Do you have the b@llz or will you go gently into that good night?

Sincerely,

ObamaShrugged   May 14th, 2009 5:20 pm ET

For those of you who think the Republicans are the only ones with a split party – there are plenty of Democrats who do not support BHO's ideas of spreading the wealth and spending the next 100 years worth of taxes by the end of his term. And this split will keep getting bigger with every new tax and spend program he dreams up.

IndyVoter   May 14th, 2009 5:20 pm ET

Now I KNOW that Rush Limbaugh has lost it... Doesn't he know that you don't mess with somebody's Momma (especially an ex-POW's)?...You don't mess with mommas, even if they started it! Just walk away, Rush. Just walk away.

Shirley In California   May 14th, 2009 5:19 pm ET

I personally can't stand ANY of the McCain's. As much as I detest Blimp Man, I'm on his side (this time). At least he is not a hypocrite. Is this the same woman who said "my son doesn't come with a lot of pretty words-he comes with experience or that stood proud while his supporters yelled "terrorist" and "kill him"? I'm glad I don't have to look at this fossil of a woman, her grand daughter (who talks too much) or her adulterous son and his drug addicted wife in WH.

America made the right choice for a change.

2pacolypse Now   May 14th, 2009 5:19 pm ET

Wow,

now even McCain's mother gets dumped on by DUMBO. This man seems to know no boundaries or care to draw any boundaries. I just wonder if The Maverick is gonna allow Boss Limbaugh to disrespect his mom like that in public or is he gonna take his rightful spot with lips puckered up like the rest of his spineless GOP cronies and apologize to Sir Rush by bowing and kissing the ring on his hand?

Your move John McCain.

chris   May 14th, 2009 5:19 pm ET

We have to remember that Rush is manifested for pure entertainment purposes. His success is based on ratings only. Obviously he is out to make as much money as he can and he does that by feeding into the hate culture. Without a conscience he will say the most outrageous things he can imagine just to create controversy and ratings. So don't take him seriously at all, maybe one day he will have a revelation and use his charms to unite instead of divide. Send him some love!

wannafal   May 14th, 2009 5:18 pm ET

You progresives dont like Rush because he doesnt worry about whether he may be wrong, which he isnt.
Rush makes so much money (another reason libs hate him, class envy) because he does speak to many in the conservative party. And yes, when the republicans come back to the CONSERVATIVE party, they will win again.
Mccain was just about as moderate as humanly possible without actually running as a democrat.

Jhana   May 14th, 2009 5:18 pm ET

Buddhists don't even bother listening to Rush as the teachings clearly illustrate that the more a person runs their mouth the less they know what they are talking about. Ridiculous chatter breeds ignorance and Rush has fathered and advanced alot of ignorance and misinformation in this country for his own personal gain. He is sucessful and rich but not a wise nor a great, or happy man. Pray for his deliverance and be kind to him for he is blind to the true spiritual path of the Way. Peace be your way.

Tex   May 14th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

"Deafening silence" is an example of an oxymoron in the english language. Any words which emanate from the mouth of "ol' Rushbum" are always an example of that very rarely utilized item known as an "oxycontinmoron."........... Rush is a prime example of having served his country; and in his continued practice of "Republican family values".......... :)

Sniffit   May 14th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

Yep...the GOP's "values" at work right here...this just screams "respect for elders" and "god-fearing humility" does it not?

This proves Rush, the addict Limp-baugh can't control his mouth. He is too stupid to know when to shut the heck up.

Peter E   May 14th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

There is a reason, Mr. Limbaugh, that so many republicans have left the party, and so many conservatives are too disillusioned to vote. You just need to look in the mirror. Limbaugh has defended Bush's big government spending, interventionist, privacy-invading policies for eight years, and counting! Hence many of us left the party by 2006. In the 2006 elections it was not McCain that lead the party to ruin. It was Limbaugh, Bush, Cheney, and their neocon big government apologists! We real conservatives will not return until these people leave our GOP party!

monman   May 14th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

It's the other way around. It's Limbaugh's republican party that got shellacked over and over again at the polls. A majority of the people in America does not share the same hateful, exclusive, divisive ideals that he espouses. It's a wonder why they keep on sticking to the same old, tired formula, when they keep on losing on the same principles.

Rush is a genius? I mean he has these morons who believe everything he says. This guy and many others are the reason why people do not flock to the Republican party. John McCain should stand up for his mother, she is correct. John McCain would have won the election had stayed the way used to be. The Right Wing or maybe the Rush Wing will never win an election again, at least not the White House. Rush is nothing but Wind Bag.

Mike   May 14th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

Rush is an inspiration an a breath of fresh air.
I only wish he was our president and not that socialistic dictator. Just maybe we would then have a great country that our children can inherit. I think the USA is doomed and will not survive 4 years of an Obama presidency.

Problem is Rush really is a typical republican.

Ed   May 14th, 2009 5:15 pm ET

The problem is that no one in either party, is looking at the real problem. We can not spend our personal life into prosperity and the fed govt can not do like wise. Until we get people in congress that understand that it is our personal $$ they are spending and not just something made up out of thin air we are all in deep du du. I agree that the rep party has not shown responsibility but neither has the dems. It seems that the reason they go to Washington is 1 to line their pockets and 2 get reelected to continue more of #1.

I agree with you, but think about it: is Keith Olbermann the defacto head of the Republican Party?

Do you see Jeff Kaine and Terry McAuliffe apologizing to Keith Olbermann? Does Obama have him over at the White House on his birthday? Do Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid change their "listening tour" to a "teaching tour" the next day after Olbermann gets indignant about what they say?

I don't even LISTEN to Keith Olbermann, mostly because it's a bunch of liberal cheerleading and who really needs that crap? I've learned from watching the other side that there's no faster way to vanish up your own posterior than to listen to only one point of view.

The Dems are so scared of Rush. Rush Limbaugh is NOT an elected official, but Obama is. Obama has spent $4Trillion dollars and the only noticeable change is that we are in more debt than we were before. Obama plans/policies aren't working. Stop focusing on Limbaugh and more on the idiot in chief Obama.

Dave From Mass Live in Philly   May 14th, 2009 5:14 pm ET

There is no room in the republican party for disagreements or individual thoughts. That is the main reason why they have falling so far from grace.

If you are a party of less gov. A party of individual rights. A party of "christian" religionist beliefs. Then act like it. Stop bashing others within and outside of your party.

But clearly they are not. If they were then they would not have Rush or orther like him.

Jessica   May 14th, 2009 5:14 pm ET

I just want to put Limbaugh and Cheney in a time capsule and send them back to B.C.....or just any other time that is not today, tomorrow, or anywhere in the future! Can we do that??

Duke   May 14th, 2009 5:14 pm ET

Understand this Rush. YOU belong to the party that got shellacked last election. This election was not a statement against the moderates, it was a statement against the hillbilly right that you represent. The fact that you have to even respond to a comment made by a 97 year old lady says alot about you. You're one of those people that if I heard that you got shot in the street, I'd be the first one pissing on your grave. Our society is done with people like you and the extreme hillbilly, uneducated but opinionated, bible thumpin but not God fearing idiots that you represent. We proved that once and for all in November and it will only get worse for you and the 4 percent of society who actually takes you seriously.

MLH   May 14th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh is rude and crude. The fact that he has come to represent any part of the Republican party should be a wake up call to the GOP. Or at least some portion of it. Kudos to Mrs. McCain for saying something that ought to have been said by many more people before now.

Randolph Carter   May 14th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

Let me see if I understand this. Right wing kooks' reasoning is that if the republican party appeals to a narrower and narrower segment of the population and kicks out the moderates, they'll win more elections? How exactly does that work? Have a nice day!

Erik   May 14th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

There's nothing scarier than ignorance in action... Be gone Rush!

Pete   May 14th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

Do you know why there isn't a Democratic counterpart to Rush? Because Democrats don't need anyone to tell them what to think..... Especially a college dropout who, according to his mother "flunked everything" including a ballroom dancing class.

SnowBoarder   May 14th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

Rush never went to college. He was a F- student. Collin Powell was the last general to win a war for America. He fought and commanded ground troops. Rush is a fat drug addict. Why does anyone care about the words that are coming out of his mouth.

I Am The Great and Not-So-Powerful Wizard of Rush   May 14th, 2009 5:11 pm ET

mary Derricotte   May 14th, 2009 5:11 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh could have let that go. This shows how disrespecful he is to the elders. Just maybe he could have set back and learned something from Mrs.McCain. In this country being old is a desease. But in realit,y getting old and being smart means you've won the lotterty of life and must be pretty smart to have made it.

Brad   May 14th, 2009 5:11 pm ET

Joe the Schmoe   May 14th, 2009 5:11 pm ET

Did I miss something is there another Republican Party that is winning elections?

Jerrold Stein   May 14th, 2009 5:10 pm ET

If Rush had any class at all he would have applauded McCain's mother for taking an active interest in politics at her age. He could have acknowledged that they have viable differences in their views thereby giving credibility to his own positions. However, his ego being as fat as his head took center stage and the negativity that endlessly flows from his mouth is what we are all unfortunately exposed to.

I may not have an impartial view but I believe the majority of Republican party does not view themselves as Oxycotin pill popping drug addicts in denial.

Charles Wetlands   May 14th, 2009 5:10 pm ET

Leave Rush alone. Please! He needs to be alone on some island stuck in a war of time. Oh, I think there is a TV show about that. Please let Rush land on that crazy island away from all of us and alone.

Dan, TX   May 14th, 2009 5:10 pm ET

I'm really beginning to have a lot more appreciation for Rush. He really does represent the republican party ideals. His thoughtful analysis of the world really is the guiding light for republican and conservative values and shows the intellectual basis of their philosophy.

Andrew   May 14th, 2009 5:10 pm ET

I would love to see Rush and Momma McCain take a picture together. They would look like the number 10.

Get that rat sized brain on a treadmill and lose the hippo sized body.

james long, NYC   May 14th, 2009 5:10 pm ET

No comment would have been a little more classy. But this is Mr. Limbaugh we're talking about. The more i listen to him, the more I realize how much he does not represent what is best of America. It's a sad state of affairs in the republican party right now, if he's their voice.

BJ   May 14th, 2009 5:10 pm ET

To any republicans that may read this. The Dems LOVE it when the Republicans fight within their own party. Both Limbaugh and Roberta McCain are right in their opinions. The audience cheering on Jay Leno's are mostly liberal, I know because I watch Jay Leno regurlarly and his audience loves anything liberal. It's best to allow those who have an opinion to have an opinion. Read this somewhere recently and is relevent to todays politics: "Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and small minds discuss people."

MESA MICK   May 14th, 2009 5:09 pm ET

Rushblow will even stoop to dissin' someone's 97 year old mother to get attention. Un-believable!

Get this guy and his trailer park trash posse to the psycho ward and quick!

Adam   May 14th, 2009 5:09 pm ET

Just because I am sick of all the Limbaugh bashers I felt this is needed.

Ad hominem: Attacking a person as opposed to attacking the IDEAS they espouse. It is a logical fallacy.

Attacking Rush Limbaugh for his past has nothing to do with his ideas. But I am glad the CNN moderators are hard at work. I think 90% of these comments have been personal attacks aimed at Rush. Rush has ideas, if you do not like them, respond without logical fallacies.

Thank You

Sam I Am   May 14th, 2009 5:09 pm ET

If I was in charge of the Democratic Party, I would be secretly funding Rush LImbaugh. He's done more damage to the Republicans than anything the Democrats have ever even considered. He is trying to cast the Republican Party in his own image, which is a fat, racist, loud mouthed, middle aged fool. These are not attributes that get people elected.

I would throw a cream pie at the guy, except I'm pretty sure he'd snap it out of the air like a trained seal grabs a fish.

The press gives too much attention to Mr. Limbaugh who is a bombastic big-mouthed bag of hatred-filled wind.

Whenever he is attacked, you merely fuel his rhetoric and give undeserved credability to the things he says. In addition as he twists half truths into complete lies, his followers gain courage and their hatred for President Obama and anyone whom receives the label of "Liberal" is fueled and inflamed.

I suggest strongly that you at CNN to ignore this man by refusing to air any and every distorting self-serving statement that he utters.

Thank you mother McCain for telling the truth. Rush Limbaugh is a fool, and anyone following him is an even bigger one. Doesn't he realize that he's destroying the Republican Party? I guess he doesn't care, and maybe he can come up with his own party...THE KKK!

dam yank   May 14th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

thanks to limba, the repugnant party wmight disapeer one day

usualone   May 14th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh represents his pocketbook, and surely doesn't represent any other party. If Republicans still "honor" him, then they deserve the losing that they get or will continue to get. They didn't lose the Presidency for many years out of the last 16 or more. He certainly gives the comedians their topics without scratching their heads at all to come up with routines.

greg   May 14th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

Yeah... no hate here. You guys are nice as pie.

sd   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

anyone who takes this windbag seriously could not possibly care about this country.

jacobs   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

Limbaugh should have let this one slide and taken the high road. Sorry but the young people of America our future will never belong to a party that houses fanatics like limpbaugh, assailing a 97 yr old women is definitely below the pail, limpbaugh you truly messed this one up!

Adam   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

The headline is VERY misleading. I wouldn't call that "hitting back." It was a response. I mean, he AGREED with Roberta McCain. If he attacked anyone, it was Sen. McCain by claiming McCain sent his mother to attack him.

I do not understand how this qualifies as news when Pelosi is blatantly lying about her knowledge of waterboarding. CNN needs to focus on real news... I mean, they resemble E more than a news network.

Troy from NJ   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

What dream world is he is in!! Every single candidate he endorsed lost, even his attempt to have folk vote for Hillary backfired as Obama l won the nomination and evenutally the presidency. Moderate republicans rejected his call to vote for some one other than John McCain as McCain won thhe GOP nomination. Limbaugh is nothing but a blow hard and he only plays well for a very small base of people.

JM   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

Maggie May 14th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

You stupid old woman………………..you're not a Republican.

Well that's just real nice Maggie. Have you been hanging out with Rush lately??

tracey   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

Wow! Rush is picking on an old lady. Why would he try to take her on? He didn't say anything to Wanda Sykes. He kept very quiet, I wonder why? See, he knows who to mess with! He knows Wanda will eat that but alive!!!!

RandyT   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

I grew up voting for both Republicans and Democrats – the old best one for the job thing. Since Rush, the extreme right, Dick Cheney and the neo-cons took over the Republican Pary I have not voted for one. Not since Reagan – and I regret that vote.

joe smith   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

again, we would like to know why cnn has not reported on the inside conflict of the feinstein bill on cash for clunkers, similar to that in place in Europe..why don't you report things that are relavent, and affect the short and long term buying habbits of the American people/automobile industry..

Mike from Seattle   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

Rush has gotta be a liberal or at least a Democrat in disguise. Why else would he resemble the Democratic Party symbol every time he opens his mouth?

itbeme   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

Dan May 14th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

It warms the cockles of my heart to hear these boneheads bicker among themselves. So completely out of touch it's ridiculous. And getting nowhere.
*********************

does anybody really actually know what a 'cockle' is????

just wondering......

has to be more interesting than most of the ticker stories CNN has been running lately.

Phil   May 14th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

Perhaps more Republican's should follow-up on Wanda Sikes's commentary on this blowhard!

mariel   May 14th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

No matter your political status – This is just WRONG. Rush has got something mental going on, and none of us need to feed it with attention.

Kevin Cantu   May 14th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

omg.....Are you kidding.....I mean seriously...she's 97 years old and she's standing up for her principles and yet Rush has to stoop to this....to this???

human being   May 14th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

ha ha ha ha!

that's all I have to say. He is fighting with everyone. People who defend this guy are low.

Michael   May 14th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

Leave it to a pig like Limbaugh to beat up on a 90-year-old lady.
I guess if he were to pick on someone his own size he would have to go to the livestock show. I mean the size of his intellect, not his waist.

Peter E   May 14th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

Limbaugh and his version of a 'republican' party has turned their back on real conservatism and drove the party off a cliff. They gave up basic conservative principles of responsible budgets, non-interventionism, and respect for privacy in favor of Bush and Cheney's big government liberal neoconservatism. And they are constantly trying to hide that fact with their lies and hypocrisy. Now they claim it is somehow not Bush and the neocons' fault that republicans were thrown out in 2006 and took a further dive in 2008? Limbaugh needs to shut his mouth and learn history!

Jose   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

The headline says it all: Limbaugh hits back at McCain's mom.

If he had any dignity he would say nothing, insult or no insult.

Mari( maybe one of my comments will be posted)   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

@ nice!..... How funny! You know it could be........ TRUE! Thanks for the giggle!

Steve, New York City   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

Why doesn't Limbaugh find a nice, dark alley, where he can pop his drugs in peace, leaving the public finally free of this repulsive slug!

Shannon   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

Is there nothing this man won't respond to?? You know most people would just let it go, but not Rush. I feel like I went back in time about 20-25 years and I'm in high school or junior high.

And about getting "shellacked". I hate to be the one to break it to Rush, but the reason the GOP is getting shellacked is not because they are too moderate, but because they're so far to the right that nobody except the ultra conservative, which represents a fairly small portion of the population in this country agrees with them.

mypitts2   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

Rush's tone gets to the problem with the right-wing. There are not two Republican parties, one belonging to him and one to her. There is only one. They all stand together or fall apart. They've chosen the latter.

Get Rid of Rush   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

This guy is a joke. He only represents a small portion of the Republican party, and this is the part that needs to wake up and change their ways. The good Republicans need to kick him out of their party.

Robin   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

Sheesh Rush, she is 97 years old and has a ton of life experience. Leaver her alone!

John in Tampa   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

The Republican Party SHE belongs to gets shellacked time and again? Which one is Rush in then? Some alternate reality where they win?

And tell us, Rush, how narrow you imagine the 4th Commandment.

John   May 14th, 2009 5:01 pm ET

CNN Please convey my message to Rush Limbaugh, I want him to respond to me:

My Message to Rush Limbaugh:

Limbaugh you are Loud Mouth Donkey. Bray Bray Bray :)

Limbaugh you Look Like a Monkey, You Talk like a Donkey. :) Bray Bray

Crock   May 14th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

Rush, is it remotely possible in your mind, that you are the reason for the "shellacking"

Annette   May 14th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

Goodness, this man, has a BIG MOUTH!

Rush Rove Cheney   May 14th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

Limpballs taking on a 97 yr old woman.....and he is way overmatched.

Will ol'oxycontin breath ever shut up????

Rush thinks that his audience is the "true" face of America.......does he really??/... or is he just milking all of this for ratings....my bet is the money honey because Rush is into the cash

MING   May 14th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

I think I want to be a democrat....too much drama in the GOP party!

RushLimbaugh is a big fat idiot   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

rush limbaugh is a big fat idiot.

Ryan   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

LOL, which republican party is Rush in that has been winning elections lately. This guy is pretty silly

Ryan Wing   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

Wait a second ... it was Limbaugh and Bush's extreme neo-con party that got shelacked in 2008 .... eight years of extremism at the cost of common sense is why they lost.

I'm enjoying Limbaugh and his party as they become a black hole. I'd vote for a civil and responsible Republican party any day, but as long as Limbaugh is at the reigns, it ain't happening.

opeluboy   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

I'm surprised Rush did not accuse her of faking old age.

Mathew   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

Please, no more news stories about Rush Limbaugh or Dick Cheney. I've heard enough from both, and am no longer interested in their thoughts.

I'm sure Charles Manson would love to keep speaking his mind, but everyone ignores him–let's do the same for Rush and Dick. They've had their 15 seconds.

walleye   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

Has the Oxyi-Tard given up attacking the Libs? Now he's going after 100 year old ladies. I hope she beats him with her cane.

Independant Voter   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

Man, is he a jacka$$.
As if the Republicans have been losing because they've been too inclusive all this time.

Yes, Rush, what the Republicans have really needed all along was to assimilate themselves into clone-like bots who think like you!
Ha!

Steve M   May 14th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

Archie Bunker....ah I mean Rush Limbaugh (excuse me, you know they look so much alike now!) is a disgrace and an embarrassment to this country.

Matthew (Reading, PA)   May 14th, 2009 4:58 pm ET

Alexander Mooney:

STOP WRITING ARTICLES ABOUT EVERYTHING RUSH LIMBAUGH SAYS!!

why have you not written anything on the ticker about what keith olbermann spews every single night on msnbc??? each of them are on the extreme sides of the party and each are talking everyday. but for some reason you only post what Rush says, why?????

daddy sir   May 14th, 2009 4:58 pm ET

limbaugh attacking old women now. nice. his recent "performances" suggest he is still doctor shopping pills. personally, i luv the guy out front with dick as the spokesmen for the virus, er, the gop. the "real" news is far funnier than stewart and colbert combined.

Michigan   May 14th, 2009 4:58 pm ET

I think he has it backwards..."The Republican Party HE belongs to gets shellacked election after election after election."

Gravitas   May 14th, 2009 4:57 pm ET

He just had to say something. Says a lot about this bonehead. Couldn't even let that one slide. WOW.

No Incumbents 2010   May 14th, 2009 4:57 pm ET

Limbaug has disgraced himself even more, by attacking a 97-year old lady who only wanted to speak her mind. Limbaug should respect his elders, instead of insulting them.
So Limbaug's Republican party was been winning elections? Where?

Crazy Cat Lady   May 14th, 2009 4:57 pm ET

So now he's beating up on a 97-year-old woman? Is he insane? Has his ego swollen so huge that he can't see over it to the real world?

Just Wondering   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

I'm surprised that Michael Steele, Liz Cheney or some of the other evangelicals didn't jump on her first. Oh, I forgot they are only concerned about anyone that doesn't identify themselves as conservative. I am also surprised that CNN (Fox lite) would publish anything about Rush or a republican without first allowing them to reply at the bottom of the article.

Max   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

I don't get it. He belongs to a completely different group known as the the Republican Party that won a whole mess of elections lately? What is his point there? Get a real job.

Jeff, TX   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

Uh-oh, Limbaugh is popping off about a guy's Mama....

Brian   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

I call for a celebrity death match! Really. Lets get Limbaugh in the ring with McCain. No gloves or hits below the belt to settle who reins supreme in the Republican party....

If McCain is not up for the bout, i vote Powell and Limbaugh spar. All the proceeds from this pay-per-view event will go toward rebuilding the republican party in the way the victor sees fit.

jhon   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

who cares

Cazart   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

1. Limbaugh DOES realize that the party he's the titular head of is the one that keeps getting "shellacked election after election after election," right?

2. Sending himself out to dump on McCain's 97 year-old mother? I love it.

JT from TN   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

This guy is pure sick. He reminds me of some of my family that says your either with me and agree with me or you're wrong and and don't understand. The lady is 97 years old, you demwit, I'm sure she knows a lot more than you will ever know.

D - Atlanta, GA   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

Apparently Rush Limbaugh does not realize that whatever Republican party he belongs to has been repeatedly shellacked election, after election, after election.

Ken   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

And the Entertainer continues to entertain us, destroying the Republican party, merely to increase his ratings and salary. What a hero!!

JVS   May 14th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

Where is John McCain? Why isn't he sticking up for his mother? What a coward.

BJs65   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Hitting back at a little old lady...nice guy.

Frozone   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Far be it from Boss Limbaugh not to go after a 97 year old woman. Stay classy Republicans.

Michael   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

"Limbaugh said during his radio show: "The Republican Party she belongs to gets shellacked election after election after election."

Yet Lord Limbaugh's Party of No gets soundly trounced for the past two elections- and the demographic shifts are ensuring they remained marginalized. Limbaugh's plan? Shift even more right-wing. Yeah, great plan in a rapidly left-leaning America.

Tania   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Shame!

Annie   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

So what parallel universe is Limbaugh living in then? What 'other' Republican party is NOT getting shellacked in elections?

nice!   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Crazy conspiracy theory of the day...Rush is a liberal!

1-He has taken at least $400 million away from the conservative "cause"
2-Has never run, nor ever will run for office out of fear of being thoroughly humiliated
3-He is destroying the GOP from the inside

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Rush has met his match. If he was a wise man(which he's not), but if he was, you should see that trading jabs with a 97 year old woman i not in your party's best interest.

Dan in NC   May 14th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Ummm... her son did lose... so I guess she does belong to the part of the Republican party that needs to be rejected.

Hopeful Optimist   May 14th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

This guy is truly one of the lowest forms of protoplasm in the known physical universe. And the fact that he makes some 35-40 mil per year is one of America's ugliest sins. Fellow citizens, this is not something to laugh about or be proud of. He is a reflection on ALL of us whether we agree with him or not. Rush Limbaugh, more than any other person or phenomenon, actually makes a reasonable person question the merits of the first amendment to the US Constitution.

patrick   May 14th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

why didn't John Mccain listen to his mother.... John McCain is not a bad man.... He was just influenced by people like Rush.

Irma in North Carolina   May 14th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

I am no longer a republican because of people like Rush, I did not like the way Sarah and John ran their campaign. But I sure applaud Mrs Mcain for standing up to Rush and he was very disrepectful talking to a 97 year old woman like this. I wonder if John will come out and defend his mother is to be seen. So far Megan is scared to stand up to Rush. Maybe she will come out and defend her grandmother.

Maggie   May 14th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

You stupid old woman....................you're not a Republican.

Dan   May 14th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

It warms the cockles of my heart to hear these boneheads bicker among themselves. So completely out of touch it's ridiculous. And getting nowhere.

The Truth   May 14th, 2009 4:53 pm ET

This guy is truely "THE DEVIL" as well as anyone who follows him.....purely heartless. The only thing he loves is HATE! We need checks in balances, but this quy is off the scale!

Get rid of him!

Gene   May 14th, 2009 4:53 pm ET

Now he's attacking a 97 year old woman?

Well.. I gotta say it... Obama was WRONG! Rush Limbaugh DEFINITELY can qualify as troubled asset to the republican party :)

A little sad   May 14th, 2009 4:53 pm ET

Ya gotta love the mental image of Rush beating up on a 97 year old woman.

Some things ya just don't do.

Sniffit   May 14th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

This proves it you know. A man with even an iota of class left would have let it go rather than allow pride to mandate a counterattack on a 97 year old woman.

Triggidy   May 14th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

Talkin mess about a man's momma? Good lord this man almost tries to look like an ass. I can't believe we're from the same planet, let alone the same state.

Charm   May 14th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

I guess Rush will do anything for ratings, including making a big deal over comments made by a 97 year old woman.

tjaman   May 14th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

Ignore the fact that she's a woman, the mother of a candidate for U.S. President who achieved some electoral success and a decorated war hero to boot, a man who has served his nation with honor.

Ignore the fact that she's essentially reacting to something very much within the public eye at the moment, and that she's doing her damnedest to return some dignity to a party that frankly has lost some.

She's 97 years old, which gives her some perspective and some wisdom. Chairman Limbaugh, instead of pretending she's someone you are even _allowed_ to talk about and respond to, show some RESPECT and some DEFERENCE, you charmless slug!

Sniffit   May 14th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

He loves it? Does that mean I can take a dump on you too Rush? I'll go grab the TP...

Ellen   May 14th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

Yeah, Mr. Limbaugh, and how many Republicans have you gotten elected lately?????

gino   May 14th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

When you are a pile of cr@p people tend to take a dump on you.

Tammy   May 14th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

CNN be nice leave the republicans alone as the eat themselves. I really feel bad for moderate republicans. Their party does not want them. Moderates must always feel like "guess who's coming to dinner"

marvelouspatric   May 14th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

that rush is a class act all the way. i mean, laughing at a 90 some year old woman and saying that he is the republican party. what a guy. i know i love it when one person defines everything i must be to belong to a group. that's bold. keep it up, rush.

Rush Rove Cheney   May 14th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

You are correct ol' oxycontin breath.....Rush does NOT....I repeat NOT belong to the same GOP.

Rush belongs to the GOP mantra of hate, divisiveness, bigotry, and all of those warm and fuzzy Klan type feelings.

I still think that Rush is the best weapon the Dems have at this point and it is not costing them a cent.....and Cheney's mouth....ow!!.....that has to be another big winner for the Dems.

Pandering is actually against the law, but the way the current crop of "GOP" leaders? are acting you wouldn't think so.......pander to the right wing nuts.....now that is a short street to destruction

Alphonse Bluengreenenbrownenburger   May 14th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

How did conservatives become so delusional and sanity-challenged? The endless wild, ludicrous accusations they regularly fling around as "truth" are just astounding. Liberals are socialists? Terrorists or siding with terrorists? Traitors? America-haters?

How did you people get so frantically insane? How can you actually believe such hate-filled, psychotic delusions?

How long before you froth-mouthed nut jobs get violent on your neighbors?

Frank   May 14th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

Well let's see what those at faux news say about this. And he wonders why his republican party is a regional party. He obviously didn't get the memo that his repubiclan party is the one that the American public rejected and voted against. I wonder if Ed Rollins believes in intolerance and no new ideas. Rush limbaugh the republican gift that keeps on giving.

yuri   May 14th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

Here comes this corpulent chap chargin' at the coy ol' lady. We think that this portly pig RL, with oxycontin history, should fade away into insignificance and irrelevance. He is not smart and dedfinitely not entertainin'.

Bob (Illinois)   May 14th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

Has there been any time in his life that Rush Limbaugh has be able to keep his mouth shut?

Once You Vote Black   May 14th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

Rush, how could you attack a sweet little old lady? Too afraid to fight with a young black dyke but you respond to this old crow? And we can thank you for Obama because of operation chaos. Why would you play such a game and then get upset with his policies. Oh I forgot, your a nut.

John in Ohio   May 14th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

Wow. Limbaugh talking "yo mamma" smack. I may not have the most respect for John McCain, but I'm pretty sure he could kick Rush's draft dodging butt up and down.

Sean the thinker   May 14th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

When is everyone going to realize that Rush Limbaugh is only concerned with the profitability of his commercial enterprise. He will say anything that; is politically provocative, exploits racially based preconceived notions, anything that inflames existing notions about race, sexual orientation, religion or class structure in order to get more listeners to his radio program and viewers to his web site. Unfortunately, people are buying the garbage that he is selling.

Blue Diamond   May 14th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

Wow, RUSH obviously your still on some sort of "medication" Your imaginary party has not faired very well in recent elections either, unless we're counting west va. as a power move???

Tulsa   May 14th, 2009 4:48 pm ET

Limpballs. Keep up that line of reasoning, PLEASE! You are shrinking the Republikan party YOU believe in and killing the Republican party of my father, Mrs. McCain, Colin Powell, Arlen Specter, etc...

tee   May 14th, 2009 4:48 pm ET

Did Lush Limbaugh fire back at Wanda? I don't think he wants to go there, but I would love to see him try. Her response would be hillarious. Still LMAO

The Death of America by Obama   May 14th, 2009 4:47 pm ET

Well,he belongs to my side of the Republican Party and I'm sooooo proud of it. I'm also proud of him.
Old woman, your stupidity is showing.............go home.

Gambi   May 14th, 2009 4:47 pm ET

You go girl! Give it back to Rush.

Obama   May 14th, 2009 4:47 pm ET

Go Mrs. McCain lol

Darrel from Denver   May 14th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

Limbaugh is wrong. It is the Republican Party he belongs to that is getting shellacked election after election after election. They hijacked the Party from the like of McCain and have trashed it with their right wing bigotry of all those who aren't 'with them'.

He doesn't get it. Likely never will. He is too arrogant, too bigoted, and too myopic to see otherwise.

That, and the fact he is nothing more than a simple entertainer....

scott stodden   May 14th, 2009 4:45 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh has no idea what he represents, he does not represent the Republican Party because what he talks about is complete hatred. Maybe Rush should think about retirement as well as Dick Cheney

Larry   May 14th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

Rush Lumberjerk and Mrs. Magoo each have their own traits that represent the republican party. Some they have in common and some they don't. Here's the list:
Rich (the haves)
Very rich (the have mores – thanks Bushy Boy)
White
Ignorant
Stupid
Old
Fat
Hippo
Hypocritical
Bald

Tom McCarey   May 14th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

Anybody remember the Woody Allen line (when he was funny) about "baseball bats and bricks"? He was referring to a Nazi march that some folks said they were going to protest. His point – Nazis don't understand protests, much in the same way that Rush fails to distinguish between what is subtle or nuanced. I pray for consequences to visit hate-mongers like Rush and Sean Hannity.

FreeNLovIt   May 14th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

Elephants, please do get well soon. America needs you, along with the donkeys.

paul (staunch Moderate)   May 14th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

I do encourage those in the Republican Party to closely hang on every word that spills from this man's mouth. He, Cheney, Ensign, Palin and the rest of the Neo-Conservative, extreme right of the party will then ensure that common sense prevails – Because the Moderates will continue to stay in power.

Once You Vote Black   May 14th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

McCain ought to use his aligator arms and beat Rush up. How can he stand him talking about his momma like that. The GOP is in shambles. It won't last for ever, but it it mighty fine to look at for now.

JFK   May 14th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

Why does Rush persist to insult everyone? Only because he is a loud mouth ego maniac that doesnt know when to shut up! Rush doesnt have have a shred of humanity much less dignity. I guess if you get bad press its better than no press at all Mr Limbaugh. Keep alienating America with your small rabid fan base of nutjobs that cant think for themselves!

Margot   May 14th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

I'm sorry but this really is funny. Hey guess what Rush... I love it too! But for very different reasons!!!

Bill NY   May 14th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

Only in this great country can a drug addled ex used car salesman with absolutely no moral compass rise to such prominence. Mr. Limbaugh is one of the people dragging the USA down. He should be tried for treason.

mary jo   May 14th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

What a pompous fool!

Fnord-a-saurus Rex   May 14th, 2009 4:42 pm ET

Why is Limbaugh even relevent today? He does nothing but spew hatred and should be ignored by any person with a brain.

CNN: stop giving Limbaugh a soap box to stand on. Maybe if we just ignore him he'll go away and take Cheney with him!

Grrrr-Awful-O   May 14th, 2009 4:41 pm ET

Investigate Pelosi!

Ben   May 14th, 2009 4:41 pm ET

The fact that he's responding in his same old nasty way to a 97 year old woman is so boring and predictable.
Why does CNN constantly cover him?

Lynn   May 14th, 2009 4:40 pm ET
