Obama, Richardson to meet up in New Mexico

Obama will appear with Richardson Thursday.
Obama will appear with Richardson Thursday.

(CNN) - President Obama is set to meet up with Gov. Bill Richardson at a New Mexico town-hall Thursday, the first time the two will have appeared together since Richardson abruptly withdrew his nomination to commerce secretary in early January.

Richardson - who sought the Democratic presidential nomination himself last year - withdrew his nomination to Obama's Cabinet in early January, citing the distraction of a federal investigation into ties to a company that has done business with his state.

Two Democratic strategists outside Obama's transition team told CNN that Obama aides pushed the withdrawal because they did not want an ethical distraction amid the controversy then surrounding ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Richardson maintains he has not violated any laws.

I see he shaved the beard. Probably trying to look 'clean' as ole Biden would say. I'm sure he did nothing wrong, dems never do. Just ask Nancy, she'll back me up on that for sure.

Why is CNN not reporting on ACORN receiving over $8 Billion in federal money (tax money) even though ACRON has been indicted in several states (most recently PA last week) and is under continuing criminal investigation?

Is CNN afraid of Barney Frank, who removed the restriction against giving tax dollars to companies / organziations convicted of voter fraud?

    Please DO YOUR JOB CNN.

Well of course he's going to see ol' Bill, Obama has to pay him in cash for his withdrawal and subsequent support since he couldn't get a government job. That's the hardest part of being president, paying off all those who you promised things to when you were running. The list is long and the price tag will be pretty high, but the Chinese can afford it so not to worry.

And the latest is that someone very close to the business dealings of Richardson has been granted immunity.

    Not good news for Judas!

I would think Obama would want to distance himself him. Why remind everyone about his bad decision to nominate him?

The President is probably getting Richardson's opinion about having a female latina woman such as Sotomayor as a Supreme Court Justice.

Isn't it refreshing to have a President who respects the citizens for once and communicates with us for a change? I love his town halls, his press conferences and the way he constantly informs us of what he is doing. How wonderful!

I like that President Obama is holding town-hall gatherings. He has been up front and center, communicating with us frequently during this economic crisis.

    This FORMER-Republican...... is very impressed!

    Bravo, Mr. President!

  15. Is this the same Richardson....

who knifed Hillary in the back and then lost his Cabinet seat because of a corruption investigation? This guy is typical of the type of friends Obama has including the great Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers.

Oh good. Another town hall meeting filled with Obama lovers telling the President how wonderful he is. CNN should spend as much time covering Tea Bag Parties as they do town hall staged events. Oh, I forgot, Tea Bag Parties mean something totally different to CNN people. Forget about the truth, stick with these town hall meetings.

We've got a bunch of Republicans in Washington fighting among themselves and not doing anything worthy for the people who voted them in. I don't know any employer who pays people to do nothing but fight while they are suppose to be on the job accomplishing what they were hired to do. Wake up Republicans.

Mari( maybe one of my comments will be posted) – I been reading your posts for a while. You are definitely an enlightened thinker for a former republican (smile). Welcome!

    Richardson is another corrupt democrat.

But I agree with the previous comments. The ACORN scandel is the biggest election fraud scandal in 25 years and CNN won't cover it. ACORN is getting millions of taxpayer dollars and may be eligible for billions with this new so-called stimulus bill. Embezzlement and election fraud. CNN should pay attention to this outrage! ACORN needs to be investigated and de-funded.

Let's see if CNN is willing to post this comment – – the truth about their bias and negligent reporting.

You know, I am proud of President Obama for acting like a civilized human being. Even though Richardson had to withdraw due to his boneheaded difficulties, the President has the heart to forgive and move on, not like these terrible people who throw dirt on someone who made a mistake in life and will never let them live it down. That's TRUE CONSERVATISIM!!!

Obama owns the car industry and, through his bullying of Chrysler and other industries, reckless spending, regulatory straitjackets, and defense of the rich UAW union leadership, he has finally brought Chrysler and the American autoworkers to their knees.
And all the time he has been doing this, he claims he helps the little guy.
Tell that lie again Obama to the rank and file workers now being laid off by Chrysler thanks to you. The rank and file autoworker is getting jobbed by this administration.
