WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Obama has chosen Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, New York City health commissioner, to head the CDC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a senior administration official told CNN Friday.

Obama will make the announcement Friday, the official said, who spoke on background because he was not authorized to comment publicly before the official announcement is made.

Wow. I wasn't aware Frieden is so corrupt.
The CDC 's website states that ebola is spread by contact, but they have it in the airborne(bio 4) level, as does USAMRIID. They say HCV has a 3.5% transmission rate by needlestick, but rtheir own research says 10 percent. They say we don't have prion diseases – and we don't because they don't document them, don't look, don't wanna know, when the rest of the world is researching and preventing them. I could write VOLUMES about the CDC's lies. So, I guess Frieden fits the mold and will continue this CDC legacy.

Geezmaneez, the racist anti-Obama vitriolic viewpoints are frightening. I am a US-born Hispanic, a Mexican-American, proud of my country. But Holy Frijoles, I am certainly scared by these so-called "patriots". I'll bet you are all members of the NRA, Daughers of the American Revolution, etc. Get a life, people, turn off Rush Limburger Cheese and get better informed.

My quesiton is ..when venting...did they look at his stance on those that suffered the medical after effects of 911...what was the HC stance in caring for them? Just curious

How many raffle tickets did he purchase or sell for the Obama campaign? Keep it the family.

As long as he is not a gray old white republican or down with the GOP, then I'm happy with the choice.

I wonder how much he will owe in back taxes. He looks like a typical Obama thug.

Biased   May 15th, 2009 10:41 am ET

It's about time. Seems this should have been his top priority ages and ages ago. How many positions in important areas are still left unstaffed or understaffed?

you talk about showing some diversity, seems like the majority of appointments are going to those with strong ties to Israel, and AIPAC..

It only took you 3 months and a swine flu outbreak to name a CDC chief. We know Sanjay Gupta was unavailable, did he ask Dr. Doolittle?

Mississippi Mike   May 15th, 2009 9:45 am ET

Great, will we find out that he didn't pay taxes?

Jack Burleson   May 15th, 2009 8:54 am ET

What's his tax problem?
