PEOPLE: Bristol Palin graduates high school

Bristol Palin has graduated from high school.
Bristol Palin has graduated from high school.

Looking like a lot of her classmates – giddy and irreverent, wearing a silly necklace of Blow-Pop lollipops strung together with curly gift ribbon – Bristol Palin stepped toward the stage in Wasilla Sports Complex Thursday night to receive her high school diploma, more a worried mom than a jubilant teen.

"Where's my baby?" Bristol mouthed, searching the two front rows where her family sat until she finally spotted son Tripp near the backstage door, where Bristol's Aunt Heather was feeding the infant a bottle. With a wave to the little one she alternately calls "Handsome" and "My Guy," Bristol crossed the stage – and crossed "graduate high school" off her to-do list.

"I knew it would be hard work, but I knew I was going to do it," Bristol, 19, tells PEOPLE.

And another thing….for all of you idiots criticizing Liberals for speaking against this "news!" We're not criticizing Palin’s kid, we’re criticizing the HYPOCRISY you ring-wingers live by. Your very own Sarah Palin demanded that her family should be off limits to the media, but you don’t see Sarah stopping her daughter from posing for the cameras and giving interviews on every station. Obviously Sarah Palin caught control her sex crazed daughter, how in the world is she is going to run the White House!

    Get over yourselves...idiots!

A college education is great, but more then anything, I hope she finds a wonderful man and settles down. That child, like all children is going to need a mother AND a father.

I'm sorry, but CNN is becoming like the other sites that I avoid because obviously with stories like this you are targeting an uneducated audience who believes that this is an actual story. @happy I'm Republican, I rejected the Republican party because you have started to embrace a bunch of uneducated people who want nothing more out of life then to grab hold of a gun...that's it. How ghetto is that.

Good for her. I hope she makes use of her family's baby sitting services and goes on to college. If she's not marrying Levi, she will need some way to make a living for herself and the baby. If she thought completing high school as an unwed mom was tough, just wait until she tries college and then job-hunting. Hope that moment of moral lapse was worth it.

I completely agree, this is NOT a news worthy story. For myself I wanted to see how many hate spewing liberals would trash this young lady and her family.

CNN has truly become only a vehicle for the far left liberals. I still cant find the article on Pelosi where she claimed she was "powerless" about the water boarding. If I were Dems I'd be more interested in why they have incompetent leadership than this young woman on her very special day.

The haters and the MSM bashed and bashed and there you stand with your cap and gown and sooooooo happy.

We are so proud of all our children.

Lotta hatred on these posts, people. She's just a kid who made a mistake and was trotted in front of the world for all to see. Tragic, really. I thought the election was about a new direction, but it seems all you liberals want to do is continue "ragging" on anything that doesn't fit into your equally-as-tweaked agenda. When's the third party ticket gonna form up? Cause' you folks are going nowhere fast......

You nasty democrats – Miss Palin earned her diploma she didn't buy it. Just because Obama bought his presidency does NOT mean everyone operates like he does!!! LOL

It was Teddy Roosevelt who warned of highly educated criminals like Obama.
"A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad."

    Another favorite TR quotes:
"Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people."

    @ carlo

I totally agree with your point and think all of the hate directed at Bristol is so twisted, but dude if you are going to call someome out for spelling something errantly and do so because you "have three degrees", then you sure as hell should at least know how to spell the rude term you called the person–it's "imbecile" not "embicile".

    Spell check is your friend.

  16. Is this news??

How about reporting something news worthy. This not even worth toilet paper... How can you graduate, when it was stated before that she had droped-out of school?? I can you pass when you messed some many days of school?? Let the Palins go..go far far away.

Why isn't anyone dissing Bristols ex lover? You know, the DAD?!?!? He abandoned her AND her baby. At least she hasn't abandoned her helpless little boy.

A boy falls down in the mud gets back up, cleans up and the next day no one remembers. A girl falls in the mud, and no one EVER forgets.

This is a GED at best. We will believe anything and the Palins have managed to lie their way through life. This is sad, because there are so many teens that get pregnant and do attend classes and work their butts off to graduate and obtain a diploma. Then they go on to attend college and become successfully but the Palins get a free pass because of their rich lifestyles. I’m sorry this is not news because I believe it’s another distortion of facts from the Palins – Attendance plays a major part in Graduating HS. What a shame!

Her mom pulled some strings. Period.

Sorry this is not a story. High School is not "difficult" to any one I know that put in 1oz of effort. Yes being a mother your senior year can make it difficult however, with her mother being who she is and all the attention the family has had I am sure it was much easier for her then any other teen mother trying to graduate. I don't see how or why this family is still talked about. I also love to hear about how her stance on sexual activity for teens. Her family follows the bible and that means no sex before marriage, whoops, also being religious people they are not to use contriceptives to control pregnancy but, she advocates it now. You can't make this crap up.

This is stupid and a waste of our time to call this news! Millions of teens graduate every year, many with kids and do not have the help or special opportunities provided to Bristol and no one says a word about them. This girl has an ignorant mother who contradicts herself constantly yet because she was the panic pick for VP by the RNC and Mccain she gets attention. Let it go and let the Palin media attention go with it. Palin will not be a legit contestant in four years, so why are we still reading about her family?

How many kids graduated from high school this year? Is this important because she was stupid enough to not practice birth control and get knocked up before she graduated? And how many more teenagers had babies but still managed to graduate high school? CNN must really be grasping to fill the news cycle because this is not important. Please don't report anymore about the idiot Palins or Miss California.

According to People mag. she graduated with a 3.497 G.P.A. Not bad considering she is also raising a small baby.
