The 2008 World Series Champions posed for photos with Obama after presenting him with a personalized 'Obama 44' jersey.

WASHINGTON (CNN)
–The Philadelphia Phillies, winner of the 2008 Major League Baseball World Series Championship, met with President Obama Friday at the White House.

Led by manager Charlie Manuel, the Phillies posed for photos with Obama after presenting him with a personalized "Obama 44" jersey and a cased baseball.

Obama congratulated the champions on their season.

"What an unbelievable run it was, full of come from behind wins," Obama said. "This is an underdog team that loved to prove their prognosticators wrong.

"We share something in common then, because no one thought I was going to win either," he added, laughing.

Obama get to work, quit taking gifts for what you think you are. You think you are a leader, BUT YOU ARE WRONG, this country is leaderless with the lieing democrates in charge.

Josh   May 15th, 2009 5:35 pm ET

Please, who actually buys into the crap that he wasn't "supposed" to win. The media was on their knees for that man and got all the people that never vote to get out there and vote for a man they had no clue on what he stood for.

So when i read the comments here, all i find is "(Obama)FED Government should stay out of our lives", "Obama want big government", At the same time, these same people are OK with FED government to involve in other countries matters and telling them what they can or cannot do. I still don't get understand the Republicans way of thinking. It's arrogance at its best.

No Mike, you're wrong... 44 is the average number of rabid, spittle-inducing comments and death threats you'll receive from Jim Jones' followers, er uh, I mean the Obamunists who post here.

Can we get Obama worship declared the snake-handling, holy-roller "born-again" religion that it clearly is and get it banned from schools?

Obama is a wonderful president with a plan to save jobs!!!

Unfortunately, it will take a while to fix what was broken when Obama entered office. The automakers were on the skids last year.

Remember a few yrs ago when Bushie jr. had a photo op with a basketball team and he tried to bounce the ball .. and the ball had no air jaaajajaaa.

How many billions of dollars has he spent to create 55,000 jobs? And how many jobs have been lost since he started spending those billions? And since when did this bogus "jobs saved" category become a measure of the employment index? He might as well say that he has "saved" a bazillion jobs since there is no way to measure it. Lolol...man, dumbocrats are lunatics.

Har-de- Har Har
this president should have been a stand up comic.
What an embarrassment.
How sad that he is the best this great country has to
offer as a "leader". What a shame that the Phillies have
to waste their visit to the White House by posing with
this incompentent appeaser. He has been
embarrassed by America his whole life. Now he's in charge
and means to fix it. It will start to be "fixed" when he is replaced.
Better luck next time Phillies.

Mr. President, I am STILL with you all the way! I am glad you are a sports oriented president. Having said that-people need to understand when Obama was running for president – he did not actually see ALL the intelligence reports and have ALL the factual information. Name me one just one candidate that didn't overreach during their campaign? Sure, he made promises he can't keep but who doesn't? I still think he has our best interest at heart and after reviewing and listening to the experts surrounding him-he is doing what will keep us safe in the long run. I am just as disappointed as many of you are about the two wars but I know he saw something BIG and major which prevents him from ending them right away. Let's give him the same chance we gave all the others. Wait for at least a year and then-make him accountable.

You have a job, not based on your performance, qualifications or even if you have been there for 35 years, you have a job SOLELY on the fact that obama has saved it. He hasn't talked to anyone in your company and most likeley doesnt even know your company exist, but through supernatural powers/spending, he has managed to save your job. He is truly amazing!!!

Why should the Phillies be applauded for their action? Did they say, "Hey, we have more skills than our opponent. It is wrong for us to use our skills and hold them over our opponents heads." Now if the Phillies were true to the ideals of the Annointed One, they would have stopped the game, let the opponent tie the score, and then end it right there, that way everyone is a winner.

These Phillies have no place in the new Obama-merica, where everyone must help their less fortunate brother. One can only hope that Speaker Pelosi can take time out of her busy schedule of coming up with stories and lies about her being (or not being) at CIA meetings to come up with legislation to make sure big meanies like the Phillies never, ever do this again!
