WASHINGTON (CNN) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) performance at Thursday's press conference received a harsh evaluation from Reliable Sources’ political panel Sunday morning.
Pelosi said Thursday that the CIA "was misleading the Congress."
Roger Simon, chief political columnist for The Politco, told CNN's Howard Kurtz that Pelosi may have dug herself in an even deeper hole.
"If she had hung a sign around her neck saying 'I am lying,' she could not have done worse...She was terrible."
Pelosi has been under fire this week for conflicting statements she made on whether or not she was briefed by the CIA about so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques," such as waterboarding, being used on terror suspects.
Simon said the media's performance wasn't any better than Pelosi's.
"She didn't know what she said. She couldn't decide on what she didn't know what she said. And I think the media this time was just neutral filters for what she was saying."
Michael Medved, a conservative radio talk show host, said the media has done a good job of pressing Pelosi on what she knew and when she knew it. He added, however, that the press is ignoring the trouble this could cause the Obama administration.
"I think they're being pretty tough. And I think it's appropriate. The big story here that I don't think people are picking up is the splintering of this unified Democratic party... President Obama does not want Congress or the nation obsessed with the interrogation issue," Medved said.
Liberal radio talk show host Stephanie Miller said the chronology of Pelosi's briefings should not be a central issue.
"The issue is not what Nancy Pelosi knew or when she knew it. It's who ordered the torture and torture is illegal."

Nancy Pelosi has nothing to explain. The GOP on the other hand has lots of explaining to do. How can they say that what was done is not torture and at the same time blame Nancy Pelosi, who only had one briefing, for not speaking up? That is the most contridictory, hypocritical comment I have ever heard.
Miller is trying to exonerate Pelosi–Pelosi should be brought upon charges if she knew about the waterboarding. If the Dems are going to skewer Bush and Cheney–why should she be let off the hook?
As the number three person in the government she had a duty to stand up and say no the president if she objected. If she knew and did not say anything then she is as guilty as Bush.

Media performance has been poor until recently. It took Fox and other non-liberal networks pursuit of the story to get CNN and others to recognize the lies. Pelosi's a big time liar and crook, hopefully the left-leaning media will now pursue the facts instead of cover for their favs on the hill.

It is about what she said and how she said it. This is one of the most destructive, obnoxious individuals to be in the political arena. There is no doubt her agenda and that it appears to be derailing is a good thing for the country and can mellow the Obama jugernaut a little. Nancy Pelosi is an embarrassment to the Obama administration and to America. I am a HUGE fan of President Obama, but Nancy Pelosi is one of the worst political figures in recent memory.

While I'm not a huge Pelosi fan I fail to see why we cannot see through this attempted discrediting, which is only occurring to dodge the fact that we as a nation were involved in torture and take away from the focus of bringing those responsible to account for their actions.

If Pelosi lied and it appears she did,she should be tried along with everyone else. I have never seen a person so obviously lying as Pelosi was last Thursday. It was a disgrace.
Democrats seem to only want investigations if it involves punishing Republicans. Investigate it all. Who did it, who approved it and who knew about and let the chips fall where they may. I think the ex CIA chief Goss cleared up the debate about Pelosi and what and when she knew about water boarding. Now that idiot and former Speaker Newt that was thrown out of office needs to apologize to Pelosi as does the other republican idiots.
