FEC dismisses complaint over Palin wardrobe

The Palin camp had come under fire over the source of funding for her campaign wardrobe.

The Palin camp had come under fire over the source of funding for her campaign wardrobe.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Federal Election Commission dismissed a complaint on Tuesday against the Republican Party for funding a $150,000 designer wardrobe for then-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the group that filed complaint, argued that political candidates aren't allowed to spend campaign donations on personal items like clothing. But the FEC dismissed the case on Tuesday, saying that the purchases were "coordinated party expenditures" because the Republican National Committee spent its own money alone on her wardrobe, and did not use donations made to the McCain-Palin campaign.

In the original complaint, CREW targeted over $150,000 spent at high-end stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus to outfit Palin and her family after she was picked as McCain's vice presidential nominee.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington? This is what they decided to pursue? i submit they would better off spending their time ensuring responsibility and ethics in Washington. That alone would take them 2 or 3 lifetimes! Losers!

What is this groups position on Obama taking Air Force One and fighter escort to Las Vegas for the sole purpose of hosting a political fundraiser for Senator Harry Reid?

All you hateful Democrats STOP acting like disgusting idiots that you are. The Democratic Party is going to look alot different after the 2010 election, less of them. Republicans are on the march and it is just a matter of time when they will be in power again, the way it should be. I would be ashamed to call myself a Democrat. I am more a Republican today than I ever was.

If all the pending law suits against Palin are dismissed then we'll know tampering with justice took place, just like now. She was already proven guilty for tampering in the the troopergate case, this woman is tainted and so is the GOP that support her
Prove it or stop the slander!

You know something folks, If you are truly tired of hearing about this lady why do you continue reading articles about her and continually taking the time to post comments? I think you are not tired of her at all or you wouldnt be wasting your time doing this. YOU are actually the ones keeping her in the news. You have no one else to blame but YOU.

I can see why they bought her clothes, her own wardrobe must of really been shabby and they were ashamed to put her out there looking that way. Well it didnt help them much to dress her up. They should of controlled what came out of her mouth. That is what lost the election for them. And the republicans are stupid enough to throw her out there again in 2012. Of course Rush will be standing right by her side.

    gt says:
Her views will set women back to dark ages.

Yep, you are so right. I seem to recall that back in the dark ages, women held high political office which they achieved pretty much by themselves.

Typical comment by someone so bent on throwing out a criticism but not having the mental armament to judge the validity of their own assertion.

Troopergate? Get real, that guy shouldn't be allowed to carry a cap gun let alone be a cop. He shouldn't be allowed to work security at a county fair. He's psycho, needs help. She should have just fired him. He works for the State, She's in charge of the state. Personally I'd have fired him myself had I been in charge.

Wow is she HOT!!! I think she looks great in anything she wears and sure hope she's front and center for a long while!!!

Still think that the politicians could raise a ton of money (for charity) with a pay-for-view mud wrestling match between Sarah Palin and Nancy Pelosi!! We could tie one of Sarah's arms back to make it fair-but what a fund raiser!!!!

Sounds like a sell-out to me!!!

  23. Republicans are the American Taliban

I think she needs to answer to the American people about the meetings where she chose the clothes. We need a Truth Commission and she needs to apologize. Until she comes forth with the truth, she is tainted!! Has she donated them yet as she promised?? She needs to admit to her lies or step down!! Sound
