FEC dismisses complaint over Palin wardrobe

The Palin camp had come under fire over the source of funding for her campaign wardrobe.

The Palin camp had come under fire over the source of funding for her campaign wardrobe.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Federal Election Commission dismissed a complaint on Tuesday against the Republican Party for funding a $150,000 designer wardrobe for then-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the group that filed complaint, argued that political candidates aren't allowed to spend campaign donations on personal items like clothing. But the FEC dismissed the case on Tuesday, saying that the purchases were "coordinated party expenditures" because the Republican National Committee spent its own money alone on her wardrobe, and did not use donations made to the McCain-Palin campaign.

In the original complaint, CREW targeted over $150,000 spent at high-end stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus to outfit Palin and her family after she was picked as McCain's vice presidential nominee.

I hope she runs for presidency in 2012 as well. Can you say landslide victory again for the Democratic Party? 🙂

I think if people who donate to the Republican Party deserve to get exactly what their money buys.

What is it about Sarah Palin that scares Democrats like this? They spend thousands of dollars, hundreds of words trying to degenerate this woman. I have never seen so many frightened bloggers as on this blog. It is as if she is able to make Democrats look at their own hearts and see what vacant, spiteful people they are. They feel she should care what she thinks of them and she doesn't – and that seems to frighten them

Way to go CNN... still deflecting from real news. You have that hag Pelosi lying to everyone to try and save her skin (only Oil of Olay is going to do that... maybe); then you have Biden who needs a "dunce" cap so maybe he'll figure out shutting his pie-hole is the better option. How about telling the true story about these Dems are selling-off our future, destroying America's moral fiber, and stagnating our economy by not allowing business to flourish?

    Mississippi Mike quote
"I can't believe this was ever an issue. Palin scares feminists because she is the exact opposite of what they tell young girls you need to be to succeed in life. Just for reference most of the women I know absolutely love Palin and see the people who attack her as bigoted extremists." must have a 'very' small circle of friends.

Gov Palin takes so much flack, because most of us find it disgusting that someone so untalented gets all this attention, while better qualified, hard working female politicians go unnoticed.

The hatters must be madly in love with Mrs. Obama – she seems to be the only topic they can write about. Reminds me of second and third graders boys having a crush on a certain girl in their school – but not wanting to admit to like her. Some people can be so childlish

I just love the old " we fear Sarah " stuff! How rich! Is that the best you mentally challanged Palin supporters can do? Seriously? You're actually going to "bet the house" on that? The only thing I fear about Sarah Palin is her complete ineptitude and sheer lack of intellect and the fact that their are people " numb" enough to see her as the least bit relevant at all. And thats about it.

It's still so very difficult to believe either political party can get in a snit over something as silly as this! This is why Republicans can't seem to get a leg up, and Democrats continue to sound downright silly (I said that, didn't I?) Well, it's true.

This just illustrates how everyone is in bed together. There's no accountability – the FEC is a mockery of what the people is proper.

Oh well – nothing will change until a third party is in power.

As a female, I do not find Palin anywhere near "EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT" In fact her lack of judgement and inability to articulate appropriately makes her appear stupid.

Like you can try to educate a pig but it's still a pig and knows nothing...

Palin fits this metaphor perfectly. The McCain party tried to educate her on the campaign trail. She still knew nothing and then she started pointing fingers when she fumbled. Looks like she is the ignorant pig.

Why are the democrats still so hostile? You won the election. Deep breaths, count to 10, relax. You control congress, you can change the world, stop being so pessimistic.

I'm not afraid of Palin – I just have a pet peeve about people being idiots and blindly following someone so obviously stupid, arrogant and hateful.

Regarding her wardrobe, I agree with the FEC that they were legit expenses as part of the GOP's efforts to put new lipstick on the same old pig.

Who cares how much her wardrobe costs, except the idiots that sent money to her campaign.

Did you get your moneys worth?
