Dems seek to keep spotlight on Cheney

The DNC is out with a new Web video highlighting GOP support of  Cheney.

The DNC is out with a new Web video highlighting GOP support of  Cheney.

(CNN) - Eager to keep Dick Cheney in the spotlight, the Democratic National Committee released a Web video Wednesday highlighting recent GOP praise for the former vice president's series of television appearances.

Set to Caleb Delamont's Let Me Know That You Love Me, the video shows clips of House Minority Leader John Boehner and Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele praising Cheney's newfound media visibility, even as officials in the Republican party have sought to spotlight a new generation of leadership.

"The Republican Party [hearts] Dick Cheney," the video declares.

"The real issue here is TORTURE. Nothing else matters..."

I'm sorry, but so many other things matter. For example:

    1. Iran getting nuclear weapons
    2. $6 trillion in deficit spending in the next 6-7 years.
    3. North Korea
    4. Afghanistan
    5. Pakistan
    6. the economy
    7. Mike Vick (haha...couldn't resist)

who cares who the GOP loves? They're a bunch of whining teabaggers using smoke & mirrors to try to blame Pelosi for happening to recall how she was misled by the CIA at the behest of the guy who keeps publicly confessing to his war crimes..

Cheney, Steele, Palin, Gingrich, Limbaugh, Boehner, and Cantor are doing their own party in at record speed. Media, keep giving them the spotlight. The majority is repulsed by what they're seeing.

Someone put Cheney out of his misery!! The sooner the better. Better still, his heart could fail along with Limbaugh's kidneys ...

Too many are hung up on torture. Who cares if these terrorists were made uncomfortable? Did we pull their finger nails out or chop off their heads? Our so called torture is way too easy on these killers. You must think spanking a child is child abuse.

Dems need to keep diverting back to Cheney, they have nothing new to complain about and need to distract from the disaster they are creating.

It's pitiful to watch the democrats grasp for that support they see so quickly slipping. This whole anti-Bush-Cheney rhetoric of theirs is worn out and ineffective anymore. Heck, their own administration is starting more and more to look like the previous administration and I'm not complaining. In fact, if President Obama is interested in coming over to the effective ideology now that he has had a chance to see how things in the real world work, I'm sure the Republican leaders would like to talk with him.

    To Proud Member...Party of No:

I would certainly hate to experience life as you do - consumed by fear - always sceeeeeeeerd. Don,t you know that if you had to rely on ONE person in the world to protect you it shouldn't be Dick 'Deferment' Cheney. He is nothing but a COWARD. As Jesse Ventura said, if he'd ever had any military training he'd never have shot his hunting buddy. Oh wait, maybe that was intentional.

After all he represents the last 8years AND those that obviously run the GOP. When he speaks everyone listens, including Bush, Rumsfeld, Geo.Tennet(CIA), etc.

Let's do this right; Impeach lying Pelosi, prosecute incompetent Bush, throw a bucket of water on Cheney (worked in the Wizard of Oz), fire blathering Biden, and give our new president someone solid to work with. I'm a Republican who voted for Obama (I knew Biden was a Democrat Quayle) . Vote whats best for American – not idiotic party!

Cheney likes to keep himself in the spotlight. If publications keep him in the spotlight, they most likely think that that way they are being fair to both parties. Fortunately this country is basically strong, because Chaney and his followers really truly did damage to America. One only has to go abroad to hear those sentiments expressed. It is clear that those I talked with do like America and most of its people However, they know we lost our way and moral fiber for the past eight years before Mr. Obama became President. It is hard to believe folk who think President Obama ruined America; their heads must have been buried in sand during the last presidency. Bullies, such as Cheney, do not make us safe.

    @ fella from Chicago,

So the only important thing is to get Congress back in 2010? What a pitiful purpose. The only thing that seems important is political power, not serving the American people. The reason we are in this mess is due to all those who view power and political partisanship as more important than serving their constituents.

Proud Member..Party of No – you ought to be proud to be a member of a party with only 21% of the population and shrinking. It shows that you will support a lost cause til your dying breath.

CNN, I have a question for Mr. Cheney:

    Question –

    Mr. Cheney,

Which Category do you belong to:
    1. Genius Men learn from Other’s Mistakes.
    2. Wise Men learn from their Own Mistake.
    3. Idiot Men Never Learn.

Typical Democratic games. Blame and divert, they are afraid people might realize what being a Democrat really means.

JT-those people you listed are great leaders–what have they ever done to you? You should be weeding out your own party. Pelosi, Dodd, to name a couple.Just saying–do not pick on squeaky clean people because you hate the party.

Newt is full of it. He will say anything at this point to create something negative about Democrats. Why? Because he and his ilk are almost completely out from where the real power is. They can just try to create negativity. That's all.

Darth Vader Cheney is the best thing we freedom loving Americans could hope for. He helped with the good election in 2008, and will hopefully help us more in 2010.

Thank you for destructing the GOP (GREED OVER PRINCIPLE).

Actually, the dems don't have to work all that hard at keeping Cheney front and center. He's doing that all by himself. Keep it up Dick.

this is the kind of junk that both Democrats and Republicans do I feel is such a big waste of money..and I have no idea if it's taxpayers dollars or not. The money used spent on this ad could have well been used on something more constructive I'm sure. The people who could care less about the Cheney media tour aren't going to get more negative than they are just by seeing this ad. I normally lean Democrat and I say comon folks we got enough problems in this country without the finger pointing childish stuff.
