FBI not investigating Pelosi's CIA charge

FBI Director Robert Mueller says the FBI is not investigating Nancy Pelosi's charge that she was misled by the CIA.

FBI Director Robert Mueller says the FBI is not investigating Nancy Pelosi's charge that she was misled by the CIA.

(CNN) - FBI Director Robert Mueller told members of the House Wednesday that it is a crime to lie to Congress, but said the bureau is not investigating the charge by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the CIA misled her.

In response to questions from California Rep. Darrell Issa, ranking Republican on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Mueller said procedures require Congress to refer requests for an investigation to the Justice Department. If it is determined by Justice officials that a basis exists for an investigation, the FBI would then be asked to look into the matter. When Issa said he has standing to ask for such an investigation, Mueller said he would pass the request on to the Justice Department.

@ C White, who said "What makes anyone think Cheney wouldn't lie?"

The GOPers have truth confused with simply believing everything that comes out of someone's mouth without an ounce of crtiical reflection.

@ phoenix86, who said "the CIA did not lie."

Do you know how crazy that sentence truly is? Sorry bro, but the CIA has lied and will lie again. Such utmost faith in its truthfulness is literally ridiculous. Check a history book instead of just believing whatever you're told.

C'mon, you folks need to give Pelosi a break. You all know she isn't too bright, so stop picking on her. It isn't her fault that she was thrust into the national limelight in this position of leadership; she was chosen to fill a quota, and not because of her competence, so leave her alone!

Waterboarding is torture???? If Al Queda or some other terrorist group captures my son and is threatening to behead him on the nightly news, I pray the interegators go further than that............... If pulling out fingernails would find my son, or any other captured American soldier, go for it....................

That would be unwise for the GOP. Like her or not, remember Pelosi is the speaker. Do you really want to open the floodgates for investigations given some of the things that the Republican leadership has done over the last few years? Lying to congress became a way of life for the Bush administration. Better to let sleeping dogs lie.

Let's see........... again........ whom to believe? Whom to believe???

Do we believe the GOP-liars? Here is the record:

Bush Regime LIED about outing Valerie Plame, a CIA operative!
Bush Regime LIED about the real reason to attack Iraq: oil!
Bush Regime LIED about the TRUE cost of the Iraq war!
    Bush Regime LIED about Iraq's nuke-program & WMD's!
Bush Regime LIED about TORTURE; W. said "American does not torture" and he was lying!

And then there is Nancy Pelosi, whom the GOP has decided they hate and have chosen to LIE about to DISTRACT Americans from the ...........TRUTH THAT BUSH/DICK SANCTIONED TORTURE!

I can't believe that a republican had the audacity to call someone, anyone, a "Lair and the nerve to tell the house speaker to resign.

The whole republican Party should be shut-down, eliminated they are worse than scumb-bags, starting with the past president and vice president who really belongs in jail.

You can't investigate Pelosi without investigating Bush/Cheney and that's not going to happen. So enough of this foolishness by the Repugs.

By all means let's investigate Pelosi, but let's not stop there. I'm assuming you republicans would then be okay with investigating the entire Bush/Cheney administration? Lies are lies after all. You can't have it both ways my conservative friends.

They can't go after her because they found out the same thing Pelosi went to check BEFORE her press anouncement....SHE WAS NEVER TOLD WATERBOARDING WAS TAKING PLACE.

You all know that Pelosi (before her Press Conference) went to check those briefings at the CIA before she spoke correct?
