Limbaugh blasts Powell attack

Rush Limbaugh criticized Colin Powell as being part of the 'stale, the old, the worn-out GOP.'
Rush Limbaugh criticized Colin Powell as being part of the 'stale, the old, the worn-out GOP.'

(CNN) - Colin Powell and Rush Limbaugh escalated their war of words on Wednesday, with the talk radio host calling the former Secretary of State part of the "stale, the old, the worn-out GOP that never won anything."

The comments came hours after Powell fired back at Limbaugh and former Vice President Dick Cheney over recent remarks questioning his GOP credentials.

"Rush Limbaugh says, 'get out of the Republican Party.' Dick Cheney says, 'he's already out,'" Powell said at a Tuesday night event in Boston, according to the Boston Globe. "I may be out of their version of the Republican Party, but there's another version of the Republican Party waiting to emerge once again."

Powell drew ire from many in the GOP for his decision to endorse President Obama's candidacy, and said earlier this month that the party would be better off without Limbaugh.

On his show Wednesday, Limbaugh mocked Powell's comments. "And now there's an agenda, an emerging agenda, that he's waiting for for the Republican Party?" said the radio host. "The only thing emerging here is Colin Powell's ego. Colin Powell represents the stale, the old, the worn-out GOP that never won anything."

Limbaugh, who has been called the de facto leader of the Republican Party by leading Democrats, also said that he is resigning from the position.

"I am resigning as the titular head of the Republican Party," Limbaugh said. "Clearly I am not the titular head of the Republican Party, it's not an office I sought, it was an office position that rather was ladled onto me, and one I was appointed without by acquiescence."

How many Republicans would choose to be led by Limbaugh over an American Hero like Colin Powell?

Stand up...be counted, move to Texas, and then secede and let the rest of us real Americans go forward into the 21st century.

You know who would have "thunk it", Judie, that President Bush would know when his hour on the national stage had passed? Anyone who wasn't completely brainwashed by the Democratic Socialists and the media, that's who. That is, anyone who actually thinks for himself.

Maybe Bill Clinton could take a lesson here.

We are in a sad state affairs in this country when a highly successful military leader who has proven the ability to command the mightiest military on this planet, who planned and excuted successful campiagns 'do you remember Desert Storm' to name one, has to respond to someone who has no history of even a his way out of anything except to the buffet line.

This country is in a sad state of affairs when a higly decorated man and solider who proved as a commander of the mighitest military on this planet, that he can lead, plan and organize a campaign strategy for victory can you say Desert Storm has to respond to a person with no history of ever leading or commanding anything except his fork at the buffet table. Colin, Limburger deserves your silence.

Sounds like Rush needs some more oxycotin. Rush and Cheney should have their own party, wait they do, it's the GOP, party of the past, party of hate. The rest (most) of the republicans should start a new party, let Rush and Cheney have the GOP, afterall all, it's no longer a party, it's just a group.

What a laugh – when they declared wars both Dick and Rush ran as fast as their two legs would go away from participating in defending our country as millions of others did – Collin did not run away but engaged in defending all of us. It is sad to realized that some individuals would perfer to honor the two cowards and dishonor the one who put his life on the line.

    Advice for "Obama Victim"

Keep taking your meds, they will eventually work. And wash them down with clear fluids, since your "flavored" Kool-Aid makes you see "color" only. There is "hope" for you you.

Obama Victim how dumb can you be. Lets take your statement "Collin Powell voted like 95% of ALL african-americans: color before country" and extend it. What about non- "African-Americans" did they vote color, too. Also, those who voted for McCain voted against the other person because of his color. Thus, color before county.

You have got to be a joke to your family.

It amazes me how these idiots on this blog defend Limbaugh as if they know him. You dummies! This $40 million dollar man will never give you the time of day if you came up to him and you are defending him like he is someone important. O I forgot you are the people who worship false gods and all.

Can any Rush Limbaugh fan on this blog call Rush and tell him to say your name on his radio show and I'll listen to his show tomorrow and I want to hear him say your name. Didn't think so! False god worshipping idiots.

I agree with Marty. Let the RepubliKKKan party split itself into the religious nutty-right and the moderate-inteligent part. Then we will be able to move forward as a country instead of backwards to the civil war. The right can have Texas, La, Miss, NC, SC and especially Georgia. The entire state of Geargia should fall into hell for what it did to Max Clelland.

You will never out trash the trash, and the American people don't want you to. You already lost Matt in Detroit because you shyed away from bring the first Black POTUS. The GOP needs to stop this Jr. High School activity.

Look. Colin Powell is not a republican. He endorsed and voted for a
democratic presidential candidate. He's not a politician. He's not a statesman. He's retired from public life.

BTW, The econmoic outlook was downgraded today. Guess what that means for tax revenues, the economy, and the federal budget.

    It's the economy stupid...

Kids this is what happens when your brain is on drugs. Really fat boy General Colin Powell never won anything? First of all he won, the first Iraq war, ever hear of Desert Shield Desert Storm, 3 days in and out. He won over racism in the south during Jim Crow to rise to the rank of General. The fact that he is smart enough not to agree with a low information, couldn't hack it in college, many times married, prescription druggie, loudmouth, earns him more respect. The Bush Adminstration used his reputation to launch their 6 year FUBAR in Iraq. He does not have to be forever on his knees and grateful to a party going nowhere.

Both sides are to blame. Powell's mistake was to affiliate with the Republican Party in the first place. Bush Administration played him for a chump. That angers Powell. But he doesn't have an easy outlet for his anger. Unfortunately, his own gullibility was part of the problem.
