Bush missed both Obama and Cheney's speeches Thursday, a source tells CNN.

(CNN) - So what did former President Bush think about President Obama and former Vice President Dick Cheney's dueling speeches on national security policies Thursday?

He didn't watch them.

A source close to Bush said the former president was traveling at the time, enroute to New Mexico where he is the keynote speaker Thursday night at a fund raising dinner for a scholarship program for students at Artesia High School.

Hey – the guy didn't care about debating important issues when he was President, why would he have one iota of interest in it now?

I'm not surprised. Bush has always been completely confused by any words beyond four letters. He knows what he did and is probably afraid of returning to the scene of the crime. What a pathetic excuse for a human being...

Bush didnt understand then, and he wouldnt understand now. Its better that he didnt watch. As for Cheney, who gives a care?? These criminals are out of office and have nothing to say. Let Obama do the job he was chosen to do.

We CAN NOT ever forget that Bush, Chenney and Rice were warned THREE TIMES in August, before 9/11 happened, about an eminnent terrorist atack on the US soil... but ARROGANCE prevailed and 3,000 americans and citizens from other nations paid a high price for that stupid right wing mentality that we are an untouchable nation !!! What a criminals !!!

Bush is handling himself well. Cheney should take lessons on how to behave. Perhaps someone needs to explain to Cheney what the difference is between being Vice President and being a FORMER Vice President. It seems Bush gets it, Cheney doesn't . Now there's a switch.

Bush makes me ill. How can anyone want to hear a word he says? I am glad he's not giving us his opinions–if he even has any.

I hope Cheney keeps talking and asking for memos to be released. Maybe he can explain why waterboarding someone over 150 times is an effective method.

WHO CARES!? I didn't what them either and, neither did all the name calling, whining neo-libs commenting on this article such as Dutch/Bad Newz,VA and Rob Ottawa. Let me ask you, what was your big achievement in life? Completing potty training?

I agree with you Sharon! Bush doesn't need to speak because the person who spoke and acted on his behalf for 8 years is still speaking. I saw Dick more now than when he was vice president. He said America needs to remember 911, but his administration forgot all about 911 when they went after Hussein rather than Osama Bin Laden.

Cheney tried hard to convince our nation that because of his leadership choices, President Obama would be responsible if our country is attacked again.

Doesn't this also imply that because of their leadership choices Bush and Cheney were responsible for the last attack on our country?

It is a good thing that the former president did not watch as Cheney pulled out his golden can opener and promptly opened up a whole new can of worms.

It's apparent that Obama is going to adopt most of the Bush/Cheney procedures on terrorists. Do you want to know what the difference between Bush/Cheny and Obama is? Bush/Cheney don't care about polls.

The hatred I am reading here is just sad and pathetic. Politics seem to bring out the total evil in people, especially here on the CNN board. Hey folks, about giving the hate a break, hmmmmm?? The useless and senseless attacks on another human only continues a level of discourse that serves no one. This is why political parties are not the answer.

I agree with the Economist. Bush is showing more class than Cheney and actually more class than he has for the last eight years. Bush simply was not the brightest nor the best educated star but likable. Cheney on the other hand is simply evil, really an evil, twisted, hateful mind with no remorse. Why doesn't he go eat a lot of cheese burgers, fries, and fried food...then he can make a positive contribution to America.

Bush is doing the smart thing. Keeping his bloody mouth shut. Like Cheney, and the extremist Republicans like poster J In Chicago, should do.

Obama is right. In case you people didn't notice, Cheney is a warmonger bent on destroying the world and fascism is bad.

He's the Alfred E. Neumann face of the Republican Party. "What, ME worry?" he told reporters as he urinated into a rosebush. "Mister Cheney's got it all figured out. I'm gonna be president again next week if I clean my plate." Then he went inside to watch American Idol reruns.

The last guy who should lecture anyone about being an American is OBAMA.

Good for Cheney. Glad to see someone setting the record straight.
