Limbaugh slams Sotomayor: 'Reverse racist'

Limbaugh is going after Sonia Sotomayor.

(CNN) - While Republicans on Capitol Hill appear to be adopting a wait-and-see approach with Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh is taking direct aim at President Obama's choice for the high court.

Calling Sotomayor a "racist" and a "hack" on his radio show Tuesday, Limbaugh took particular issue with a 2001 speech at Berkeley during which she stated a "wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

"Here you have a racist – you might want to soften that, and you might want to say a reverse racist," Limbaugh said of that comment.

"And the [liberals] of course say that minorities cannot be racists because they don't have the power to implement their racism," he continued. "Well, those days are gone because reverse racists certainly do have the power to implement their power. Obama is the greatest living example of a reverse racist, and now he's appointed one."

"She's not the brain that they're portraying her to be. She's not a constitutional jurist," Limbaugh also said, referencing a New Republic article last month in which Jeffrey Rosen, the magazines legal affairs editor, wrote that "her opinions, although competent, are viewed by former prosecutors as not especially clean or tight, and sometimes miss the forest for the trees."

"She is an affirmative action case extraordinaire, and she has put down white men in favor of Latina women," Limbaugh said.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs defended Sotomayor's Berkeley comments Tuesday. "If you look at the context of the longer speech that she makes, I think what she says is very much common sense in terms of different experiences, different people," he said.

Who cares what El Tubbo thinks. He's being marginalized by the Republican party, and he can't stand it. He'll be back on the pill soon. Ho hum.

Or how about the firefighters in New Haven? She is a racist.

"Wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

She speaks for herself. Liberals and conservatives should be able to agree that such a racist individual should never be allowed to sit on the highest court in the land.

He gets $100 million to make inflammatory comments so his advertisers stay happy. There is no basis to this man's opinions. Why does he continue to get so much press?

Yawn. I was more suprised when I found out water was wet than I am that he's saying these things. I'm sure he appreciates the free advertising though CNN...kudos for propping up a bigotted extremist whose mendacity is only surpassed by his hate.

I read the whole discourse (which rush the dimwit didn't evidently) and I'm glad to say as a white man that in some situations wise latino women have more judgment and experience. they probably won't get drug addicted and let their body bloat just as an example.
As for racism think rush is time for you to taste some of your medicine....
I'm laughing all the way to obama's second term...

She is a racist... She thinks that a white male can't do the same job as effectively as a Latina women. As a hispanic I am even offended by those remarks

No. Here you have a woman speaking truth to one who struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. His is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

So now when Rush doesn't agree with someone, they are racist? The circle is now complete.

No Limbpig, you are the racist. Remember what you said about Donovan McNabbs qualities, being black, the nfl needing a black qb hero and not being capable of achieving greatness as a nfl qb? Well you were wrong, and you my friend are the racist!

Well, if anyone would be an expert at recognizing a racist, it would be Rush, since he sees one every morning when he shaves.

She's an activist judge. She's even said so. Very disturbing appointment...and disappointing. Here Obama had the ability to pick someone from the middle and he went hard left. When your appointee says that judges make laws (aka legislators) and there is no recourse by the people to stop it (lifetime appointment), there's going to be problems. 5 out of 6 of her cases were overturned by the Supreme Court. Not a good record, indeed.

Doesn't that fat pig have a brain in his head? Give me a break. Why does CNN even give him the time of day? What a waste of editorial space!

There goes the GOP trying to make a statement again while kicking themselves in the mouth while they doing so. Until the GOP accepts all ethnic groups, they will always be looking from the outside trying to look in. Keep up the good work Rush! I'm counting on you! LOL!

I'm quite conservative, and have often chastised leftists for affixing the "racist" tag to anyone who dares say something negative about any minority (for instance the millions who voted against the President Obama). That being said, Mr. Limbaugh hurts his own cause here. Maybe she is a racist (as are some who voted this past November), but it's a bit early to give her that label. I've seen a few quotes, but will wait until the confirmation hearings before forming an opinion. I predict 75 – 80 votes to confirm. Only republicans who don't fear Hispanic backlash will have the stones to vote against her.

Rush, the king of the zeroheads is trying to make a rational point here. Yeah right, that's like FoxNews saying they are fair and balanced. Pardon me for a moment while I go puke.

Rush Limbaugh is ONLY an entertainer! Show me his Constitutional Law experience...He cannot hold a candle to anyone outside of his one-sided radio show. I'd love to see him attempt to try a case in front of the Supreme Court – even Scalia and Alito would shake their heads in shame!

Why, oh, why, do you guys keep quoting this moron? You know, right out of the gate, that he's going to say something, anything, to get a rise out of anyone with half a brain. He does nothing but cater to the lowest common denominator, contributes not a syllable to intelligent debate, and you just keep giving him room to spew his venom. Enough, already!
