WASHINGTON (CNN) - Heading into the selection process, Sonia Sotomayor was the Supreme Court candidate President Obama knew the least. But her six-hour White House visit last Thursday - including an hour-long meeting with the president - clinched her the spot, according to a senior administration offficial.

    Jon an Kevin, you are lucky that you are posting from the comfort of youe homes...The First woman appointed to The Supreme Court was by Ronald Reagan, Sandra Day-O'Conner and guess what he was a Republican. You two need to talk to Rush Limbaugh and ask for one of his psych meds, like Prozac, Paxil or Valium... Just take your meds and bow down to God, maybe SHE will forgive you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    All of you who are attacking Jon in CA are the real idiots. He didn't say anything derogatory toward Ms. Sotomayor yet you result to name-calling. Grow up.

    Great choice. Not because of her race but her experience and qualification.

    This may sound crazy, but I WANT the Republican senators to vote "No" for Sotomayer. Why you ask? Two numbers: 12.5% and 2010. The 12.5% represents the percentage of hispanic citizens in this country. The 2010 represents the year that these same citizens will again excercise their right to vote. So, go ahead republicans; spew your hatred, fear, filibusters, and double-speak. The country and the world will be watching this one.

    In spite of me being a staunch supporter of Obama, this was strike 2 for him (in my mind).

    First his unfair treatment of Auto (GM & Chrysler) versus the Insurance & Banking industry. The auto companies actually produce something. banks & insurance just trade money inside smoke screens.

    Second, in spite of the talk of "highly qualified", caving into the politics of a "hispanic" "woman". Politics trump even a "constitutional law professor".

    College graduates in their effort to achieve employment let this be a reminder of how you too can clinch your spot in an interview and good luck. Words of encouragement, YOU CAN DO IT TOO.

    WHITE HOUSE INTERVIEW AS IT UNFOLDED:

    Obama : "Can you bring me lots of votes from hispanics who'll believe there's hope and change in my socialist agenda, but in reality, they're being fooled only to fulfill my self-gratiifcation?"

    Sotomayor: "Si."

    Obama: "Great, as soon as I'm elected, we'll dance this around, and then act like I actually put some thought into your selection...."

    Sotomayor: "Si."

    Obama : "Don't forget the votes..by the way, how do you say "Acorn," in Spanish?"

    @TTBALA -

    Think Jon's a bigot? Ask yourself one question...would Sotomayor have been elected if she was white? Maybe you're the bigot.

    Tibala, why the personal attack on Jon?? He has an opinion, give him credit for his civility while expressing it. To often liberals need to be combative and personal when they do not agree wirth an opposing opinion. When you venture into personal attcks, your credibilty takes a dive. thanks

    Her selection means that six of the nine justices will be Roman Catholic. A Vatican conspiracy, perhaps? Just kidding, of course. But it is ironic that Roe v. Wade will remain safe with six Catholics on the Court.

    @Michael M, Phoenix AZ -

    IF you think the ACLU supports America, instead of their own private liberal agenda...then you're the idiot. Anything that identifies with the founding of this country is tested in court by that group of Nazi's, often stepping on the rights of true Americans to make one liberal puke feel better about themselves. They support the "dumbing down," of America, and somehow I feel you're a life member?

    And in the meantime, the Pentagon has acknowledged that 14% of released Gitmo detainees, those very detainees who were deemed the least risky to release amongst all detainees held at Gitmo, returned to the battlefield after their release.

    But don't worry, Obama has a plan.

    He can sum up her character in a one hour meeting, but can't figure out the Reverend Wright after 20 years of Sundays?
