Biden takes dig at Obama over teleprompter use

(CNN) - Joe Biden couldn't help but take a dig at his boss Wednesday when one of the vice president's teleprompter screens fell down during his commencement speech at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

"What am I gonna tell the president?" Biden said as a gust of wind knocked down his left teleprompter. "I'm gonna tell him his teleprompter is broken. What will he do then?"

The off-handed quip immediately drew laughter and some the loudest cheers of day from the graduates.

Obama has long been criticized from Republicans for at times appearing over reliant on a teleprompter, even during short and informal speeches. During the White House Correspondents Association dinner earlier this month, the president himself poked fun at his penchant for using a teleprompter.

"You know I had an entire speech prepared for this wonderful occasion, but now that I am here, I am going to try something a little different - I am going to speak from the heart," Obama said jokingly as his teleprompter rose from the floor.

Joe Biden is a one-man gaffe machine! His master won't keep him in check because he actually makes him look almost competent so it's nice to have a Costello to his Abbott! This andministration is so pathetic and us taxpayers are feeling totally ripped off...come on 2012!

Why can't the man stand up and speak from the heart? Why does he need the words of others? Does he truly have his own or have we been duped into merely buying a product?

Maybe Joe should consider using one himself considering the gaffes he's known for making. Lol. It's nice to see that they're able to laugh at this non-issue.

IT WAS A JOKE! Some of you people are obviously just Republican plants who try and stir up discontent towards President Obama. Give it a rest!

President Obama will go down in history as the greatest orator of all presidents. You people need to find something else to howl about. He is a perfectionist and wants his speech to be perfect. What's wrong with that?

God Bless you President Obama. Keep up the good work!

Obama does fine without a teleprompter. Look at the debates. The Republicans are just desperate to find something, anything, to criticize.

Just what we always needed: A President who can only speak words that have been written for him by someone else – THAT person should be President

FYI...The term "mooly" is derived from the Italian word for eggplant – melanzana (usually pronounced "mool-in-yan"). It refers to the dark skin of African Americans, similar to that of the vegetable.
It is a hateful term, in this context as offensive as the "N" word.
CNN...Please moderate these remarks, and research what they mean before posting.

    Question for CNN:

WHY ???? Do you allow so many rude and stupid comments to be posted???

This should not be a place for folks to show how silly they are, it should be a place for real comments, not stupid stuff!!!

I just want to know why CNN will post comments from 1 person multiple times on one article when I have tried to post 1 comment on various occassions and they NEVER have posted my comment.

I never thought I'd like Biden, but he such a constant source of entertainment. The only bigger joke is the guy who put him up as VP and the people who elected him. He's just way too funny. I am glad that Obama selected him for VP. He's the only one in the Obama administration bringing Reps and Dems together in laughter and joy.

It's so nice to have a president who can speak. Who cares if he uses a teleprompter? George W. Bush could not speak with or without one. I'm so glad those days are gone.
