Biden takes dig at Obama over teleprompter use

(CNN) - Joe Biden couldn't help but take a dig at his boss Wednesday when one of the vice president's teleprompter screens fell down during his commencement speech at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

"What am I gonna tell the president?" Biden said as a gust of wind knocked down his left teleprompter. "I'm gonna tell him his teleprompter is broken. What will he do then?"

The off-handed quip immediately drew laughter and some the loudest cheers of day from the graduates.

Obama has long been criticized from Republicans for at times appearing over reliant on a teleprompter, even during short and informal speeches. During the White House Correspondents Association dinner earlier this month, the president himself poked fun at his penchant for using a teleprompter.

"You know I had an entire speech prepared for this wonderful occasion, but now that I am here, I am going to try something a little different - I am going to speak from the heart," Obama said jokingly as his teleprompter rose from the floor.

Surprised that CNN is actually allowing so many anti-Obama comments to be actually posted and just not linger in moderation for ever.

    Thank you, Mr. Biden.

Wish someone would have given Bush a telepromter, or maybe they did and he still said the crazy things he did.

Obama is a man who puts thought and plan in everything because he knows the vultures are circling.

GOP are tired of having to complain about the tiniest errors so they harp on the tprompter thing...saying ""Maybe he'll make more mistakes if he'd give up the teleprompter...we need him to fail...so our point will be made,"
they want him to make mistakes--thats what the teleprompter thing is about.

It seems to me the Conservatives have forgotten how how much they hated it when Democrats critisized President Reagan's infamous note cards. Yet more hypocrisy from the Right!

Kevin Denver Colorado "If this president didn't have to watch every little word he says he wouldn't have to rely on a teleprompter. His will be the most scrutinized presidency ever."

Did you complain when the over the top coverage of his campaign by the highly biased liberal media helped get him elected? He sought the limelight, now he's got it, warts and all. Maybe the press will even develop some balls and start asking hard questions rather than the endless stream of Obama puff pieces like going out for burgers with Joe, or the White House veggie garden.

    @ Tina,NC –

I hope you like high taxes, high crime, and high unemployment....paying for other's mortgages, national defenses weakened....still laughing? Biden's comments will continue to slip out because he firmly believes what he said back in the presidential debate; that Obama is too inexperienced to run this country. Biden has ZERO respect for Obama. That's the one right thing he's done.

A clear case of a Freudian slip. Sounds like Joe is a little jealous and feeling insignificant at being number 2. I like Joe but this is precisely why he never made a significant run at the presidency. To many slip ups and not enough substance. Don't get me wrong I like Biden but Obama is President for a good reason he was the best man for the job. And for all you Obama haters take a look in the mirror. Obama had written books prior to his run at Presidency so anyone who had read an excerpt would know that he is an excellent writer. Jealous.

I just love Joe Biden's comment and gaffes, of course he doesn't have to watch what he says as carefully as the President. I am sure that the President could make an excellent speech without a teleprompter, but of course he can't afford to take that chance, every word he says is so carefully parsed for double meanings, why should he look for trouble. We haven't had a president make as good speeches as he does, so I feel that the teleprompter is better for him than just printed notes.

this is a little off the topic but, have you all heard about the new tax that is in consideration for adoption sent to the floor by a democratic senator that will increase every purchase by roughly 25% whether it be a candy bar or a new vehicle..... i guess this is the democrats way to pay for there trillions of dollars proposed for obama's budget..... so much for giving 95% of americans a tax break.... THIS PRESIDENT IS A LYING MOOLY.........

Even though I don't agree much with Biden, you have to admire his forthrightness. Too bad most Repubs and Dems aren't as honest. It would be much easier to vote.
