Fundraiser-in-Chief continues Western swing

President Obama headlined a fundraiser for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Wednesday.
President Obama headlined a fundraiser for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Wednesday.

(CNN) – One day after President Obama was the headliner at a fundraiser at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, he heads tonight to Hollywood for two fundraisers for the Democratic Party.

The president will be the featured speaker at Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The events, which will also include performances by Jennifer Hudson and Earth Wind and Fire, are estimated to bring in around $3 million.

The campaign cash will come in handy, as the Democratic National Committee trails the Republican National Committee by about $15 million. The DNC raised around $4.4 million last month, about a million dollars less than the RNC.

UPDATE: Sen. Arlen Specter will join Obama at the Beverly Hills fundraiser, his fist appearance at a DNC event since switching sides earlier this month.

Last night, the president helped Reid rake in an estimated $1-2 million, according to the Senate Majority Leader's office. Reid is up for re-election next year, and Republicans think he's vulnerable. The most recent polling in Nevada suggests that only a minority of voters there think Reid deserves to be re-elected.

But the GOP has yet to come up with a competitive candidate to go up against Reid. The Senate Majority Leader hopes to keep it that way by raising a mountain of campaign cash for what's expected to be an expensive re-election campaign - a fundraising effort that got a major presidential assist last night in Las Vegas.

    Reid doesn't deserve Obama's attention.

Time to enact Clean Money, public funding only, for all elections. Otherwise they are auctions with the office going to the biggest spender just about every time.

Good – I always liked Western Swing Music. Did they sing "I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande?"

Is this the best use of the president's time? It just seems like there are other issues to attend too.

Good! I hope last nights event at Ceaesar's Palace puts a plug in the Nevada's governors mouth who obviously believes taxpayer money should be blown on his town. Sorry – not my money (unless you are going to invite me for the fun!!)

May the money flow to the DNC – we are going to rock the next election anyway!

Very good description of our prez-he certainly isn't being bothered with actually governing our country, just running around basking in his "super stardom". (CNN, I bet you won't post this one either!)

The RNC may raking in money, but once the C-I-C is fundraising for you, that's when the big bucks start coming in.

Fundraiser, good job for Obama. It keeps him out of the White House so he can't do any more damage.

President Obama could raise more money in a week than Republicans could raise in three months and still keep his daytime job. What a President.

I judge a politician by the friends he keeps, or solicits money from. I wouldn't take money from anyone in Las Vegas or Hollywood...............it's filthy lucre.........made on the back of what is so wrong about the culture of our great nation.

But the president and his secretary of state aren't too choosy who they accept money from.

Las Vegas and Beverly Hills. And the republicans are accused of being rich elitists?

Can't wait to see the liberal outrage on the "fundraiser-in-chief" words used in the title to this ticker post.

try doing the job that was handed to you instead of out tapdancing for other liberal idiots!

Obama's the biggest fraud this country has ever seen, and he keeps shoveling the crap....what a tragedy for this country.

"Fundraiser-in-Cheif"? Really looking to give the GOPers priapism eh, CNN? Might as well give 'em all rabies while you're at it...at least them the frothing at the mouth would be explainable.

The American taxpayer is the fundraiser for Harry Reid. Who do you think is paying for Clueless in Chief to fly to Nevada to fundraise for Idiot Majority Leader.

Dutch – don't forget the illegal overseas contributions funneled through ACORN and "bundled," especially for the DNC and Obama. Obama and his administration are the biggest bunch of crooks ever to exist in Washington. You blind liberals are really in for a wake up call....
what's really disappointing is he's now stacking the deck at the supreme court, so she can cover for his case where he has to provide his citizenship documentation....what a sham the liberals have made this country. Soon, the days of Bush will be known as the good old days.....

And no, there's no outrage "Fair is Fair"...it's actually quite amusing that CNN goes out of its way to ramp up the partisanship in the commentary section because they think it gives the story more "newsiness."

He should be raising money for someone to opposed Reid. The man is a disgrace. Why no mention of the release of the FBI Blago/Burris tapes. They prove that there WAS consideration for a donation by Burris to Blago in return for the Senate seat. Reid was a fool to seat Burris, but then again 'fool' is standard operation procedure for Democrats.

Who's paying for the DNC "Fund Raiser in Chief's" trip? Air Force One takes a lot of money to fly. Is it our tax dollars that foot's the bill, or does the DNC pick up the tab? Using tax dollars for the good of the people is fine, but I do have some restraints when it's for the good of the party. I don't care which party it is! Just thought I'd make that point.

  23. The Party of NO is only “pro-life” so they will be able to kill the “babies” 18 years later as soldiers in an elective religious war.

After 8 years, let's compare the shrubs total vacation time and total fund raising time to President Obama's before you start handing out titles.

    CNN you are Fox-Lite.
