Report: Todd Palin offered Bristol a car to dump Levi Johnston

(CNN) – Just when you thought Levi Johnston's 15 minutes of fame may have come to an end, the famous teen dad is back as the subject of a cover story and photo-spread in next month's GQ magazine.

Among the profile's revelations: Todd Palin, the husband of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and father of Johnston's former girlfriend, Bristol, repeatedly offered to buy his daughter a car if she dumped Johnston.

GQ also asks Johnston if he and Bristol Palin, who still stay in touch, ever "loved each other."

"I think we were in love. I wasn't one to stick with a girl for three years if I wasn't. I'm pretty sure you can call it love, but it's just amazing how fast it can change like that. We were together every day. The feeling we got when we were with each other, it was just totally gone," Johnston told the magazine.

Just imagine this going on in the White House if McCain/Palin HAD won the presidency. What a gong show that would be.

The only reason "Levi Johnston's 15 minutes of fame" have not come to an end is because you keep reporting on this nobody's dull life. CNN has become a national embarrassment.

Only in America can an unemployed, unwed teenage father land the cover of GQ while a political party who rejects all of those charateristics openly embraces him and his former mate.........

    @obambi,
I don't believe anyone forced Levi, or Bristol for that matter, to do interviews and visit talk shows. Though I agree that this all has the feel of a Springer episode, they have the right to show off their dysfunctional family just like everyone else. They are not innocent victims of some "gotcha" media.

What?! Levi's entitled to more than 15 minutes, come on. He should move to LA and become a rapper. He's a million times hotter than KFed. It could be a new rap style, Hunta Rap. Instead of Gangsta.

    Bristol's Baby Daddy
    Comin atchu
with a rhyme that's fresher than
    Caribou

Something like that! It might be great!

Well it definitely sounds like something Todd and Sarah would do. Those two are as crooked as a summer day is long.

  14. Note To CNN Editor

People can argue this isn't news all they want. This article belongs in the People or Entertainment section. How exactly is anything that the Palin's or Levi political in nature (beside the election, now nearly 6 months in the past)?

But whatever, don't listen to the posters on this board. We're just a source of ratings.

In response to "If Sara Palin is such a joke as the liberals always claim, why is so much attention paid to this family? They'd just be ignored"

The best answer to this question may be the Britney Spears/K-Fed saga. Clearly a white trash joke; the world: captivated. I agree with the one that stated this is the stuff of sitcoms. I think they should ditch their political aspirations (because the entire family–including Levi–was in on the circus act) and surrender to the reality TV shows that have been calling their name. This would beat The Osbournes.

Lastly, CNN, I'm disappointed. Really. Leave this to E! and Entertainment Tonight. Thanks.

Yup, this is the white trash family that is our First Family. We Alaskans are not proud of these people. We can't wait for them to do away!

This family is disfunctional as hell and twisted beyond belief. It doesn't surprise me in the least that Todd Palin would do that. Despicable.

    Sam,

You are truly the idiot. I bet you don't have an ivy league education do you? I also bet that you voted for the same party that puts there nose in the air for this type of behavior.

    RIGHT?

If Sara Palin is such a joke as the liberals always claim, why is so much attention paid to this family?

Same reason why people watch an old man slipping on a banana peel... we like trains wrecks and love watching them happen in real time.

Sigh... An avid supporter of Barack Obama, I am completely unimpressed with Sarah Palin. But that said, I find the continued focus on what ought to be family matters voyeuristic and disturbing. Please, if Levi wants his 15 minutes... let him seek it elsewhere. A young mother and baby are also involved in all this, and it makes this observer sad to see them used as filler by CNN and other news organizations.

Levi is just a guy or a kid who isn't done with getting women pregnant. Did the media really think they were in love?

    May 28, 2009 05:55 pm at 5:55 pm |
  25. Michele

Well, at least Todd was helping the local economy out by buying a car!

Seriously, these two kids need help! Levi has not finished his GED, so will take any media offer of cash, and even takes off his clothes for money now! Bristol did somehow graduate even while missing classes for four months this year, but without a college degree, will also soon be accepting media offers. And so it goes...the next in a long line of trashy media darlings: Anna Nicole, Britney and Kevin, Jamie Lynn, Lindsey Lohan, Bristol, Sarah....we never seem to tire of bashing people with less sense and more exposure than anyone needs. Whatever will Greta have to say about this?
