I am a Democrat, I guess you can say a liberal. But I think that Reagan was great. I served in the military and appreciate all he did to grow the military and protect our country.

I like a lot of people am not a straight party person, and though I may not agree with everything Reagan did or believed he was a very good president.

And I love Nancy, she is a sweet lady.

The continuous use of the teleprompter during press conferences gives off the impression that Obama cannot think for himself or is too scared of making a mistake. But it is true that he is fed talking points to respond to questions made during his press conferences.
    Not making this up.

Wow-lot's of hate here... I think it is wonderful that two first ladies from different parties are adult enough to meet, have lunch, and discuss life in spite of their differences. Let's celebrate diversity.

Reagan gave America back its pride. When he took office our economy was decimated. Military morale was at a low point. Russia was a very real cold-war threat.

You may not agree with his policies but he made decisions, explained himself to the american people and, overall, the people responded.

About the silliness with the teleprompter... How does it hurt anything? He delivers the message that his administration put together.

I dont make the broad assumption that the voting public is composed of fools who are simply "tricked" into believing in a policy based on a flashy presentation and a few sound bites.

If the use of a teleprompter makes such a tremendous difference in how his policy is perceived then maybe its use should be expanded. Lets give teachers, professors, salespeople, managers and everyone that deals with the public a teleprompter!

Regan laid the foundation for the booming economies of the 80's and 90's. You libs really need a history lesson.

Clinton opened up trade with communist China.

    Alex P Keaton for Prez!
    ------------------------------
Actually it was Richard Nixon that opened up trade with communist China. Also, Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox), who currently lives with Parkinson's Disease, supports stem cell research (along with Nancy Reagan) – a cause supported by mostly "libs".

    Oh, please...

This is about Nance Reagan simply coming to the White House for a luncheon.

You would think from the commits that we should call out the troops, lower the flag, and say 3 Hail Marys!!! Give it up...get a life ...and move on.

I certainly was not a fan, but, enough. Let the two First Ladies have a wonderful lunch together. And, I hope she will enjoy the ceremony at the Capital. I can thank President Reagan for helping to get the "Wall" down, and that's good enough for me to have his statue in the Capital!

Reagan won 49 out of 50 states in his re-election as President. I would say that the American people approved of Reagan's policies. The problem now, is you have people on this board who are probably too young to remember Reagan and are reading liberal blogs and textbooks to get their information. The fact remains though, that he was a very popular President with both parties and it just drives liberals crazy. Don't believe me? Read the posts on this site.

Oh the Reagan haters. It's funny to watch you working on your heart attacks while thinking about The Gipper. BTW – Reagan lowered the top marginal tax rates to 28% from 70%. The top rates are 25% higher (35% vs. 28%) than they were under Reagan. The economic record for Reagan is – inflation down, unemployment down, taxes down, GDP up, deficits up. Those are the facts. While the last is disappointing, Reagan's deficits will be nothing compared to Obama's.

You are either allowing no comments or cutting it off after one comment.
Although think her husband was a horrible president, Nancy
    Reagan deserves respect.

Ha Ha, Libnuts are sooo sunny and sooo predictable. I would leave another Lib-bating remark so I can laugh at the replies, but I actually have a legal, paying, job. Don't forget to cash those welfare checks, Libs.

All I can say is... WOW.

If the vile comments from BOTH the left and the right on this topic is any reflection of the American citizenry whatsoever, I really am saddened for my country.

Party politics, as Thomas Jefferson mentioned, brings out the very worst of humanity.

Its funny how the people who only spend their own money love Reagan, and the ungrateful lib takers who spend the money of the people they hate spew lie ridden hatrid toward the best president of the last 100 years.

You know, if lib would spend half the energy they do on hating on those who have more wealth than they do or have more morals and values than they do and use that energy on getting skills or working hard, they could become one of the evil self efficiant Americans who pay for the hateful lib to servive and spew their lack of class, integrity, decency, and values on America.

Lib truly thinks that taking is compassionate, and that hating on everyone is tolerance. Seems charecter truly is the biggest factor in which ideology we support. No wonder so many libs are atheists, would you want to answer before god after living a lib life?

Please dont get me started on the 'EMBRYONIC" stem cell debate. The leading reasearchers have stated that EMBRYONIC stem cells are not helpfull in Parkinson's reasearch and the adult stem cells are where the break throughs are taking place.

The "Embryonic" stem cell debate is all political.
