Wow. There must be some pretty sick and twisted stuff in those photo's. From what I hear the main reason they want the photo's blocked is because there are photo's of children being abused as well as women being raped by Americans. Republican's I'm sure would, but don't want to have to defend that kind of abuse. But they will.

show the photos, so that we can begin healing as a nation and a world.. the world will know who is truly responsible for the mis-judgements, soldiers following orders have no reason to worry. honesty is best when trying to get people to trust and respect you.

This coming from Graham, who two years ago said that there were criminal wrongdoings going on at GITMO, even rape?

Lindsey Graham is a weak, weak mouthpiece of the GOP. WEAK.

They are so right, we know exactly what took place, we have seen some photos from Abu Ghraib prison. It could place the military in grave danger.

We were always a compassionate Country. We always helped anyone who needed out help. Fought side by side with many Countries, some under the flag of the UN and some were fought under three flags. What ever you say about Obama pledging to release the photos from Gitmo, Iraq and Aftghanistan, he did not have the clearence to see them, he has heard the voices from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and of course SOD Robert Gates, he listens and he is responsible for our men and women in the Military so why would he want to place them in any danger.

The ACLU and Human rights activist is just doing their jobs and they have helped many people, but this has to do with the military.

Here's one for you mindless right-wing fundy GOPer hypocrites:

Scott Roeder, the anti-abortion zealot who's been charged in the murder of Dr. George Tiller, revealed in an interview with the AP that "I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal."

I'm not even going to phrase it as a question – Based on ALL your statements supporting and justifying the torture of Islamic terrorist suspects, we should be waterboarding this Roeder guy silly...maybe banging his head against the wall and scaring him with something he doesn't like...like maybe jars full of fetuses or something. Somehow, though, I suspect you suddenly don't have the stomach for it. Gee, I wonder why that is....

There is no reason these photos should be released. Kind of like the media demanding the release of Dale Earnhardt autopsy photos. There is no purpose to be served. Too many are hell bent on getting Bush/Cheney for torture. Get over it, these rotten terrorists deserved way more than they got. They killed thousands of Americans and too many are concerned about the 3 that were water boarded. I feel no sympathy for a death row murderer.

Lieberman and Graham need to get over themselves.

What they really need to blather about instead is why the pictures were taken in the first place....and how the subject-activities in the pictures were allowed to take place in the first place. Now there is something to get your panties in a bunch.

Pretending to worry about whether or not to release these photos, after the fact, is the same sort of lame, rightwing political deflection as worrying about when Pelosi knew the Bush administration was torturing detainees. We're all supposed to worrry about the lace doylees on the table, while ignoring the enraged gorrilla in the room. It takes a special kind of moron to be a card-carrying, partisan [R] these days (and oh yeh, I DO think Lieberman carries one of those cards).

its no mystery why they want to release these photo's now, as Obama;s makeover of America starts to meet resistance from all areas of the country the house Democrats need to slam the republicans any way they can. It is becoming painfully clear that deficits and huge government programs will ultimately fail and these House democrats want more mud to throw and keep people from focusing on what they supported, Huge bailouts and stimulus that will fail and cause economic hardship for all Americans. The bottom line is they care more about their own reputation and political cover than they do about our service Men and Women. Lets hope 2010 is the end of the road for some of these Democratic House rats.

Controversies and bad-mouthin' abound the enhanced interrogation technics. No single entity or person will be satisfied by a blanket strategy. So, chill out, guys, and make the best of the worst. After all, the economic crisis is still loomin' large over your pretty heads.

Come on Senators you know the House has to release those photos to placate the hate mongering left. Obama has basically adopted the Bush national security "lawless" policies – wiretaps, Patriot act, military tribunals, Iraq, etc, etc. They have to throw those wingnuts a bone since Obama has vindicated Bush's actions the last 8 years.

Stop releasing these memos and pictures. For that matter, don't release prisoners either!

Keep the prisoners Gitmo, treat them okay and move on to solving the economic problems.

Sens. Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman are right, never thought that I could ever agree with those two. There are times when we need to act wisely and to block the release of detainee photos is wise. The House must show that they love America more than they despise Cheney and poor GWB.

Irresponsible to prevent creating a furor that will lead directly to the lives of service men and women being lost? I think these guys should wear an American flag while handing out stacks of these pictures in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    Now THAT would be responsibility.

The party of "No" again. I have never seen such greedy, sore losers in my life. we should all be in this together. And, my stars, what in the world can Jon Voigt do? I would like to see him offer his services to try and help this country rather than stumping to put the Republican "fat cats" back in office.
Freedom of speech though. wouldn't have it any other way.

The Democrats just don't get it. The American people, by and large agreed with the measures implemented by the Bush administration following 9/11.
Releasing these photos will simply seal the fate of the Democrats in 2012 and for some reason they think just the opposite. In 2012, they will be uttering "in hindsight, we should have left it alone".

These photos need to be released. What people ASSUME is in them may be far worse than what they show. And if not, the truth must be shown to the American people. If our soldiers are in danger, get them out of Iraq as promised! If these photos put them in more danger, it certainly isn't Obama's fault. He banned torture....Bush embraced it!
The release of the photos will do good...it will show the world the worst of America, and show them that we do not behave like terrorists any more. It's almost as if they are acting like Amahbinijad...the Holocaust didn't happen because I say so...Torture by Americans didn't happen because the pictures aren't really here. Both did happen and closure cannot happen until all the facts are available. If our soldiers were raping people as a matter of policy, someone HAS to be held accountable!

Once again the cowards are loose!!

We do not need a government that hides the truth from us!! If you believe that Americans are too fragile to handle the truth you are no good for this country. This is exactly the logic that the totalitarians of the world use, "the people cannot handle the truth it is dangerous."

This is an evil precident and the Obama administration should be ashamed of itself for not holding the people responsible for these crimes to account.

As for the Congress they prove on a daily basis that they are cowards so I would expect as much from these wormy, little sycophants.

Why are we allowing obama to detroy our nation by making these unwise and dangerous decisions. There has not been one good rational for what Obams is doing. He is trying to destroy us, plain and simple. With the photos being released it will incite anger here and abroad. Just look at how some of our enemy nations are torturing our prisoner whn they capture them. If anythin g we learned techniques from them. Obama is destroying us a sure as I live in SC. What person in his right mind would try to show photos to rogue nations even if they may be somewhat harsh. Not nealy as harsh as they should be comparing them to how the rogue nations torture our preople. please stop Obama.

It's called taking responsibility for our actions. It's called freedom of information. If the people who did these deeds are not brought out into the open, tried in open courts and punished openly, then other Americans will do the same thing and the terrorists will have won. Yes, they will use the photos for propaganda. Absolutely, they will. But THEIR potential actions do not in any way release us from our own moral obligations. We as Americans need to get over our religious convictions that the rules do not apply to us. That is why most of the world hates us.

I think ending this travesty in Getmo will do more to STOP the insanity in Iraq and the world than anything else we can do. Obama is trying to treat these men like human beings... some are no doubt guilty and some are probably not. But I bet they all hate us! Maybe a fair trial and fair treatment will be a step in the right direction to curing the horrible ills of the Bush/Cheney administration!

I, for one, have seen some of the photos–not seen before by the public. They are bloody, horrific and humiliating and are much more extreme than the one's previously shown. I believe pres. Obama is making the right decision to block the release of these photos–they absolutely would incite new hatred and animosity toward the American servicepeople around the world.

We are behind Obama all the way. Mark Sanford, Lindsey Graham, and Jim DeMint have all used our state for desperate grandstanding at the tax payer's expense. We have the 2nd highest unemployment in the country, broken and crumbling infrastructure, and no plans to help the people in place.

I thought they said the terrorists attack us because we are rich and free? If that is the case, which it isn't, than why would showing the pictures matter?

Because they don't attack us because we are rich and free, they attack us because they believe we are meddling in their affairs, killing and torturing their people and stealing their resources.
