Obama calls Holocaust Museum shooting an 'outrageous act'

The White House issued the following statement Wednesday evening from President Obama:

“I am shocked and saddened by today’s shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. This outrageous act reminds us that we must remain vigilant against anti-Semitism and prejudice in all its forms. No American institution is more important to this effort than the Holocaust Museum, and no act of violence will diminish our determination to honor those who were lost by building a more peaceful and tolerant world.

“Today, we have lost a courageous security guard who stood watch at this place of solemn remembrance. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this painful time.”

Yes, President Obama....this is a totally outrageous act and we have learned nothing from history. Secretary Napilitano should retract her apology to the right wing regarding the Government study which reported on the proliferation of extremism. What can we expect when we have non elected entertainers like Limbaugh, Beck, Cheney, Coulter and Gingrich, and elected officials like Bachman, Boehner, Palin, Posner plus others who spew rhetoric of hate and intolerance. They are culpable of inciting these acts. It must stop. This is Domestic Terrorism!

Well GOP, what do you think of the monsters you have created? Thank God for Obama, he is more representative of the American dream than the GOP will ever be.

Oh he does now? What about killing babies? Does Mr. "O" not think that is outrageous, immoral and more? What about his pathology of lying and cheating and steeling from the American people? What about his wreckless spending, and his constant flying all over the country and going on "dates?" at taxpayer's expense. Outrageous.
    The big "O" is OUTRAGEOUS.

How many times does Obama need to denounce Holocaust deniers before the paranoid freaks on the far right will leave him alone?!

I was watching Campbell Brown about whether we are too soft on terrorists, felons, etc. I think that persons such as the shooter of the security guard lost his rights when he became a felon. I also think that when a person preaches bodily harm, killing, etc. he loses his right to freedom of speech. He took someone else's freedom to live. I definitely think we are too soft on law breakers such as terrorists and the like.

This heinous act had to be perpetrated by a right wing gook!! Most of these type of crimes are committed by people with extreme right wing views!! It is getting really scary!!

There are hundreds of hate crimes in the US every week. There are dozens of hate-crime related killings every month. Why is it only this one that made the news or caught the President's ear? If the media got off their lazy bums and paid attention people wouldn't be so complacent about them, and we could have easily reduced these incidences, and maybe even prevented this one incident from ever happening!

  10. No Longer A Republican

This is a result of hours of Rush Limbaugh using code words to stir up the unstable and feeble sick mind of White Supremicist and it is sad to say they are more to come. He constantly scare these people over the edge with code words like "Obama and the democrats are RAPING you children money"....a racist and hater will take it upon themselves to carry out lone acts. What america do not realize the Republican aim is to turn groups agaings group and begin pockets of terrosits in our nation...Newt, Rush, Dick and the GOP do not care about Americans, they only care about their only personal agenda which is to get a government like the last 8 years who do not pay attention to the ones who were robbing americans banks, stock market, bonds and funds. They want the good old days when Bush lie stayed drunk and dumb.

Domestic terrorism worries me much more than foreign terrorists. Racists, right-wing lunatics, anti-abortion activists, and religious fundamentalists do not believe that I have a right to disagree with them. They do not believe that Congress has a right to pass laws that they disagree with. They do not believe that I have a right to express my opinion if they disagree with it. My own right-wing lunatic Governor Perry proposes that Texas secede from the Union.

I personally am tired of humoring these nuts, listening to them while they refuse to listen to me. I'm tired of pretending that the opinion that they just made up is as well thought out as the opinion I formed after reading a few books on the subject. More than anything else, I am tired of the lackwit leadership that the vote for ruining my country.

    Enough!

Perhaps the President could mention the potential links between radio hate talk and these types of hate-filled attacks. The AG needs to aggressively investigate all links and contacts with this domestic terrorist.

Isn't this the same press release he issued after North Korea fired off their most recent missile? And, wasn't that the same press release as when Iran fired off a missile? Seems like an awful lot of meaningless talk and platitudes coming from the One with "Change we can believe in".

  16. Limbaugh is a Liberal

Normally you'd only hear in tasteless racists jokes the story that a nazi walks into the Holocaust museum to kill a black man. But it's reality, people. Open your eyes, we live in a racist country! The mainstream, corporate media is encouraging racism and hate and even defends these terrorists just to get people frightened, watching, and get more advertisement dollars. And people don't even care. They write a few angry notes, but in the end forget about it by next week when the media prints stories again about Sarah Palin again whining to get people's attention. We shouldn't let this happen. Racism happens every day, everywhere, not just when somebody gets killed in a national museum!

May God comfort and bless the family and friends of the Officer who lost his life . Such a shame that people have to resort to this. You can disagree with people but why do people have to kill innocent people.

Germany outlawed naziism after WWII. Why is it still legal in the US? Why do we always have to wait for a murder to see how dangerous it is? We need to shut down these hate groups before they terrorize Americans, not just wait around for another black man to get shot!

I am also shocked and saddened. And horrified. And sickened. A despicable act heaping violence upon violence by a deeply disturbed, sick and twisted ... individual. I can't even call him "human." Together with the recent fatal shooting at a church, it will take some long, hard looking to find any good in the wake of this terrible fear, hatred and loathing.

So am I Barack, what that man did was flat-out wrong, but the nation still awaits to hear your outpouring of sympathy over the killing of Pvt. Long by a Black Muslim terrorist (fresh out of terrorism school in Yemen)....so much for you keeping our country safe or even caring about it.

What sickens me is that you don't even try to hide it...why don't you just have Holder drop the charges ton he guy like you did for the Black Panthers in Philly.

I have no respect for clowns like you.
