WASHINGTON (CNN) – As the Republican Party struggles to regain its footing following the November elections, a new survey shows that a majority of adult Americans sees no clear leader for the minority political party.
Even more problematic for the GOP is that one-third of Republicans hold an unfavorable view of their party, according to the USA Today/Gallup poll.
When it comes to naming a “main person” who speaks for the GOP, 52 percent of Americans were unable to do so.
Among those who did name a speaker for the GOP, 13 percent identified conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh, while 10 percent named former Vice President Dick Cheney. Arizona Sen. John McCain and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich were each named by 6 percent of Americans in the poll.

Just 3 percent said former President George W. Bush is currently the most prominent Republican speaker, while Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and House Minority Leader John Boehner were each named by 1 percent of participants in the survey.
“These numbers are troubling for Republicans, who are engaged in a civil war right over the ideological direction of the party,” said CNN Political Editor Mark Preston. “When one-third of Republicans hold an unfavorable view of the party, it makes it difficult to establish a united front to promote GOP policies at the same time opposing President Obama’s agenda.”
A third of Republicans in the poll said the GOP should not moderate its policies in its quest to regain power.
The poll surveyed 1,015 adults on May 29-31 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

It is no different with the democratic party. Their unfavorable ratings are climbing due to the out of control spending of obama and the democratic congress/senate.
Personally, I think it is best if no one speaks.
Sarah is not going to accept these poll results. Neither will Joe the Plumber.
The GOP has a mean self righeous, and systematic exclusion policy
I wonder if the republicans know how to spell "KARMA".... LOL
The question should have been worded, "Who yells for the GOP", not "Who speaks for the GOP". All these GOP bozos do is yell at everybody else who doesn't toe the line to their wingnut beliefs. When they're not WHINING, of course
Right now... its not important. The only thing that is, is that the Conservative movement, getting back to the roots of our consitution, the vision of our fore fathers from centuries of briliant minds. Getting younger people more educated on the founding principals of this great nation and why they are there. That its a republic, not a democracy. Once everyone understands the founding principals there will not need to be one voice, but many voices fighting against this liberal agenda and high jacking that is trying to destroy evertything the consitution and the rule of law stand for. Progressives do not look at the lessons of history. They only think they can change the world into what its not. They will ulimatley fail.
That is why we lost last Fall; Mccain and "moderates" do NOT have enough suppot to win, and we conservatives have to have a man of principles (Like Reagan) to articulate and WIN.
This article makes it sound like the GOP has to oppose Obama's agenda. It's o.k. to be GOP and be agree with some things Obama is doing. I think that is part of the problem. The GOP is known as the NO party. Plus, they need to remove themselves from the religious right.
Any party that utilizes Limbaugh can not be taken serious. Then you throw in Palin and the absurd gets even more ridiculous. Throw in a Mormon and McCain is thankful he's at a age where he can retire. Then you have Rudy in NY. Yes, he was heroic in 9/11, if he dumps the Republican party he can be heroic again.
How dense are the Republicans??? Hello....anyone home?? You need to moderate your message, be inclusive of ALL Americans and STOP listening to Rush Limbaugh or you will NEVER win another election in America. Good luck with that!!!
Gallup polling is junk...it surveys "adults", not registered voters. In any case, it's not a news flash that the republican party is in disarray. Despite that, a recent Zogby poll (which polls registered voters) indicates that the majority of Americans trust Republicans in the areas of national defense *and* the economy more than it trusts dems. That's fairly damning evidence that the Obama administration is not enjoying majority support for its economic policies.
Rolling out Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh isn't going to do it for me. I left the party because of them. Until they recognize that not all Republicans have their views, the party is doomed.
They have awhile to sort this out. I'm sure in a few years some people won't like what the current administration has been doing, and will gravitate to the GOP. That being said, it's incredible that 1/3 of Republicans don't want to moderate their party.
If "A third of Republicans in the poll said the GOP should NOT moderate its policies", I would really like to know then how many think it SHOULD moderate it's anti woman and anti gay stances? I guess I can design a better poll than the "experts". My guess is it's also around 30% which means they should be fighting amongst themselves for years to come and not winning many elections. Fine by me.
A full 100% laughed hysterically before being convinced to say something serious about the GOP.
Don't recall this ever being an issue before until Rahm Emmanuel, Carville and Begala decided to make it one. Does CNN even care that it is being used for political puposes by the Obama thugocracy. It certainly wasn't an issue in the aftermath of Gores, or Kerry's defeat was it.
It's very obvious Rush Limbaugh is the leader of the party. It's a shame that a once great political party has been stolen by someone who cares more about himself and his legacy than about our country.
I'm sure this poll will get buried as a liberal media distraction or something equally stupid, but I find the results hilarious.
I will admit Steeley has been trying to show off his big boy pants lately. And I think they got to Rush and told him to simmer down now.
My question is where did Sarah rank?
They are stuck in the wilderness somewhere. They are spin doctors, they can say one thing and critize if Obama says almost the same thing, well before the spew out their vile words, they need to do some research and then speak with honesty.
As long as Republicans cling to their lunatic fringe right wing nutjobs like Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Ann Coulter, Dick Cheney and Sara Palin, they will continue to sink into oblivion. Their hypocrisy is too obvious to ignore any longer.
Every Republican who has campaigned and won office on their old mantra of "Lower taxes and less government" – Bush, Palin, Swartzenegger, Jindal – has increased taxes in the long run and expanded the size of their state and federal governments. This hypocrisy is also too obvious to ignore any longer.
Karl Rove's spin machine may have worked to keep an incompetent president in office for a second term, but no spin machine in the universe can make Palin and Limbaugh leaders of any party.
I'm a Moderate and Independent who's voted for candidates from both parties in the past.
Frankly, I'm appalled by the constant negativity and childish name-calling by the Republicans since the past election.
Republicans today, whether elected officials or their non-elected "speakers" have clearly stated that they don't want Centrists like me in their Party. Those folks haven't shown themselves to represent my interests at all, and what they've become decidedly does NOT speak to my morality and values.
Disgusted with them!
"...it makes it difficult to establish a united front to promote GOP policies at the same time opposing President Obama’s agenda.”
The only thing they can agree on is to just say NO to the president.
How interesting that 27 per cent of those polled named Limbaugh, Cheney, Bush and Romney – figures who either currently do not hold public office or who have never held office – as the GOP's leaders. It seems the GOP itself, like its perceived leadership, are yesterday's tamales.
Isnt it funny how well Barack Obama's Operation Chaos is working? Wasnt that Rush Limbaugh's grand scheme to keep Regressives in power? Karma is a great thing.
REPUBLICANS NEED TO RETIRE THOSE OLD BOYS IN THEIR COUNTRY CLUB. That is the only way they can start re-inventing their image. Get the younger ones with innovative ideas move up. I still think they are elitist and the government for the few; gungho on military might and making world wars.
The Republican Party might as well put their sheets on and stop wasting money on suits. The entire world sees their games and hatred. It is amusing to see snakes bite each other isn't it.
Republicans "get a clue" and stop whinning .
This country needs more positive initiatives from both parties. This means working together.
Both parties will benefit from cooperative, successful legislation .
The republicans have just as much to gain from this administration's success, if they join in.
Get with the program !
I'm not surprised. When Jon Voigt speaks out and is defended by the rabid 1/3rd, declaring the president basically a "false prophet", you know they're in trouble. These are the same people who constantly blast ANY "celebrity" who speaks out in FAVOR of Obama or the Democrats as being not relevant because they're "just actors" or "just singers."
Republicans: here's your recipe for getting back in the game - STOP THE HYPOCRISY! And second step: stop defending your hypocisy by pointing to the other side and saying "they do it to."
Problems for the Republicans?....Good.
looks like the repubs have become the old white man party with narrow beliefs
ha ha ha, well I can tell you one thing: it ISN'T going to be one of the old, out of touch, men pictured above!
Despite what their egos may be telling them: they are the PAST, not the future!
This is an absolutely rediculous headline. Who cares if the GOP does not have a clear leader. We are 3 1/2 years from the next general election. Someone please inform me who was the Dem "spokesman" in early 2005. Was it Gore?, Kerry? , or that crazy dem chairman from Vermont. I am more than happy to not have a single spokesman for the GOP at the current moment as it gives the GOP time to weed out the weak and regroup. I see many young rising stars in the GOP (Jindal,Cantor,Ryan) and beleive the future will be bright. I am more then happy to let the Dem's have Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid be the spokesmen for their party. Americans are beginning to wake up and realize what socialism is and they are not liking it. Things will change mark my words.
Whats wrong with the republican party? Just look at the picture. Old White Guys.
The GOP needs new leaders, new ideas, and new types of people.
It really doesn't matter who the voice of the Republican party is. None of them haven anything important to say.
Even a majority of Republicans ascribe Rush as their spokesperson! Seriously?
This economy is on the verge of collapse and the Fed is desperately trying to act to prevent it. Unfortunately much of the energy and capital expended in this effort is going into HIDING their actions and DISGUISING the nature, historical causes, and political machinations that started and are contributing to the collapse. I don't care who the leader of the Democrats or the Republicans are. I'm taking stock of my food and water supply and urban escape routes, and you should too.
As long as Republicans continue to pay homage to the right wing extremist hate filled demogogues, Rush Limbaugh and Shaun Hannity and Ann Coulter, they will not win another election. Americans prefer a solution to our monumental problems rather than listen to a bunch of ideological nuts who try to stir up discord with their rants and lies at a time when this nation needs sanity, pulling together and positive thinking. These three are simply destroying what's left of the Republican party better than the democrats ever could and the Republicans act as if they don't even know it. Sad!
Personally, I think this is a good thing. I am not happy with any of the people named in this survey as leaders of the party, with a possible exception for Boehner.
The party needs new blood if they expect to win back people like myself.
And for libs who are gonna post that the GOP is dead, remember, this is exactly where the Dem party was in 2002. Bush became the first President to pick up seats in his first midterm election, and the largest Dem voice turned out to be Kerry. Guh.
Partys need to go through a house cleaning every decade or so.
Not good news but we have time to recover. I'm just happy Palin didnt show up on this list. She was a complete disaster on Hannity trying to talk about the economy.
Wow. I didn't know it was that bad. However, can't say that I am weeping. Although, I would like to see a strong inclusive party with real intelligent ideas. Its dangerous for one party to dominate. Debate with substance is healthy. And I am not seeing that from the Republicans.
It could be much much worse. They could have Obama, Pelosi and Reid speaking for them like the dems do.
It's interesting to see GOP feed on themselves. The country is moving on, thank goodness.
People are tired of all the negative shrilling from the GOP. The party needs to bring in fresh voices and a better outlook for the future.
Leadership involves positive direction. As long as it remains the partyy of "no" and has as its reason to exist as opposition to everything proposed by the President the Republican Party will be both rudderless and irrelevant. Its sole support will come from the idealogues and the haters wrapped in the flag and fearful of change.
It should be an embarrassment for the GOP that a non-politician would be their spokesman. Imagine if the the spokeman for the Catholic church were a businessman rather than the Pope. In all honesty, the best thing the Republican Party could do to get their followers to listen – actually pay attention to responsible conservative dialog – is silence Fox News and neoconservative talk radio. Alas, the GOP does not have the backbone to try and separate "their" church (big business) from "their" politics.
The best person that the Republicans can put up is Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. He is a businessman, and understands the economy. He is also a moderate, not a right-wing nut job. The extremists will never win, and should get out of the way so that real contenders can run. The other best Republican is Chuck Hagel, who is a Vietnam vet, a former international businessman and former Senator. He is very smart, Washington savvy, and military savvy having served on the Senate Armed Forces Committee.
The republican party cannot be successful as a party of exclussion. Recent comments by the likes of Rush have severed notice that unless you agree 100% with what they believe, you are not welcome. Just look at the comments made towards Colin Powell and John McCain, life long republicans. This is a formula for failure and does nothing to resemble the grand ole' party it use to be. They need a voice that can unite republicans and not divide or alienate them. This country has long supported "moderates", regardless of which party they represent. If they continue along the current path of exclussion, they have no chance of regaining power.
When the most readily identifiable symbol of your party is an unelected, corpulent gasbag like Limbaugh, you know you're in trouble.
The good news for the GOP, I supppose, is that there's nowhere to go but up.
Colin Powell should be the leader of the Republican Party. The rest of the idiots in that party can learn a thing or two from Gen. Powell.
"A third of Republicans in the poll said the GOP should not moderate its policies in its quest to regain power."
-–
IT ALREADY DID MODERATE ITS POLICIES!
Look where the hell that got them! Despite the claims of the leftards on this board, the Republicans are *NOT* the so-called "right-wingers" of days long gone.
Divide and conquer!
Until the republican party starts putting our country and it's survival over their party first, politics as usual mentallity, it will not matter who speaks for them. They have absolutely refused to recognize the American people voted for change, are sick of swiftboating, obstruction, finger pointing and accusations, with no substance in making policies, decisions or ideas.
Is the definition of terrorists those who seek to destroy a country?
Are the republicans becoming our domestic terrorists?
All of them do. Rush Limbaugh is the voice of white supremacy. Dick Cheney is the voice of rampant, unchecked capitalism. Newt Gingrich is the voice of US imperialism. John McCain is the voice of American jingoism. These are the childish, selfish, arrogant, short-sighted, and ultimately harmul ideas that the GOP represents.
I remember as a child how my mom would ring a chickens neck and let it flop around until it croaked. The Republican Party looks now a lot like those chickens. Just floping around until they flop their last.
Wow, just looking at the rogues gallery of Republican thugs reminds me how happy I am that I'm a Democrat. I wouldn't want any one of them to speak for me. The caption under that picture shoud be, "A portrait of hatred".
Ack. These are the choices?!?!?!
I think to a lot of Americans the GOP appears contaminated by religion and its fundamentalist views. Instead of being a political party, the GOP resembles a pulpit. If the GOP were to rid itself of religion and stick to national policy making without pandering to the religious groups it would stand a better chance with mainstream Americans.
There is a saying "doing the same thing over and over again is a sign of insanity" The GOP needs to get new people speaking for them if they expect to be relevant anytime soon. By allowing the same group of people and worn out ideologies to dominate their party, the GOP party is showing the signs of insanity.
The political parties still don't get it!!! Newt Gingrich gets up there and it is the same thing over and over. We don't want to hear either party insulting eachother. We are tired of "us vs. them." We want them to come together and make decision that have to do with what is best for America. Quit telling us how the other side is wrong and how you are right. Tell us what you are going to do to fix things. Money and power still turn the wheels in Washington rather than doing the right thing. I had hoped that Obama would bring about new change, not just change back to the same old Democratic lines...but alas, the change was only back to the way it was before Republicans were in charge. Please do the right thing for America instead of the right thing for your pocketbook and egos!
here's the real problem with the GOP it went too far right and continues to listen to the people who nearly destroyed the party. Second its always been seen as the old white bread party. Obama gets elected and all of a sudden theres steel and the middle eastern gent from the south. IT'S EMBARRASSING and yet funny to watch.
There you have it. The party of the K-Razy bunch! Newt Gingrich is a comical clown, he talks so much BS. His latest stupidity is stating he is not a citizen of the world. OH really, well what WORLD are you living in Newt? Are you an alien, because last time I checked we are ALL citizens of the WORLD. I guess Newt and the rest of the GOP loonies are living in some ALIEN far away land somewhere is LaLa-vile., It's this type of hypocritical biggotry that proves the GOP is clearly "out of touch" with the rest of the world.
These COWARDS are really dellusional beyond compared. They are consistently contradicting their own FAILED POLICIES whenever it's convenient for THEM. Talk about never practicing what they themselvs preach!!!
Republicans need to get their heads out of the sand and start "listening" to their base and STOP being the Obstructionist and Whining Party of Complaints and gutter theatrics, othewise they are going to find themselves on a desserted GOP island.
I mean how many lessons does it take before you get a CLUE? Really? How many?
None of the 1015 individuals named Palin as the leader of the Party? Surely there is some error since she represents the ‘Real America’. God bless her for being the only one brave enough to exclude fellows Americans for not being ‘one of us’.
Those Americans being:
1.)Americans with an education.
2.)Americans with a global perspective.
3.)Americans who may practice a different faith.
4.)Americans who may have dark skin.
5.)Americans who do not follow an homegrown red state/small town bastardization of European Christianity
6.)Americans who do not believe the United States is the center of the World.
7.)Americans who do not believe that Jesus was an American.
When she runs in 2012, maybe the GOP can pay for badges that she can hand out to all those who oppose her. Badges that say: “Not a real American”; similar and reminiscent of another era in history.
Judging from the photo op presented by this story, the pickings are slim. Why are Steele and Palin not added to this to complete the fiasco? I think that there should be a campaign to attract young, highly intelligent college graduates with computer savviness and the will to espouse the original ideals of what the party stands for.
Yay! Way to go, Rush!
I knew you it. You ARE the leader of the GOP, a motley band of pirates determined to spread chaos everywhere.
Iam a registered Democrat and a Iraq War Veteran and its no wonder why the Republicans popularity is in the toilet. The party has been taken over by right wing extremists who could care less about the average working man. They constantly cater to the super rich and the military industrial complex. The party continuously supports an unneccessary war in Iraq which doesnt have the full support of the American people. The Iraq war has been pushed under a rug and this war has apparently hurt our economy thru overspending. I dont think the Democrat Party is any better but they are an improvement over the Republicans! I will continue to support President Obama because he has the most commonsense of whats going on.
I look forward to the day when the Republican Party is swept into history's dustbin to join all the other colossal failures– like the Whigs and the Know Nothings.
Oh yeah the more and more Americans become more informed politicaly about both parties the more the republicans are exposed.
The republicans have used lies and fear mongering tactics to not only brain washed the american people but also steal votes for a generation now. This economical crisis made people more aware politicaly and we all can see through the bull what the republicans is about.
The party is there to promote the agenda of few rich minorities controlling the health insurance industry, the banks and the big coorporations. THE MOTTO OF THE PARTY IS GET RICH AND PROTECT THE RICH AT ALL PRICE TO THE EXPENSE OF THE POOR.
That's why they oppose everything that favor the poor or the middle class and call it socialism because some people are ignorant enough to swallow that pill.
They Fight for Choice only if it favor the very few richs but are against it
when it favors the poor and the middle.
Wow, that's really sad. I can't believe that 13% of the Republican Party thinks that Rush is the leader, a man who has never held public office and hence has never been accountable to anyone for his words or actions. It's also really bad when 1/3 of an already disintegrating party doesn't see it favorably.
WOW!! Rush Limbaugh as the new face of the Republicans!
Pompous hatred of so many people now the "message" of the GOP...
How sad! Not exact;y what I think we need right now...but...
They all look pathetic in the picture, look at them who would want them to lead. Not me.
If I recall correctly, during the last election, no one really knew who was speaking for the Democrats either. The media would like us to believe that there is chaos where there is not and when the time comes, it will all get sorted out.
Look at them. What do they all have in common?
In typical left wing fashion, the mainstream media is attempting to lead the sheople by the nose. Hey sheople, the GOP's in trouble. Hey sheople no one is leading the GOP. Hey sheople, don't pay attention to destruction occuring all around you.
Ooooooooh!!!!! Obama lit a candle in Notre Dame!!!!
swooon...
I have a suggestion for the GOP how about they work with the President on this country problems. The solutions of the 1980;s the GOP talk about will not work today. Maybe the GOP are stuct in time.
GOP the year is 2009 get wake up from the 1980's!
`
It is pretty obvious that party boss Rush Limbaugh speaks for the party.
If any of the wannabe leaders "mispeak", he takes them to task, and they fall in line.
You know your party is in deep trouble when the main person to speak for it is a 4-time married, convicted drug user with a high school degree.
GOP in bigger trouble if 13% like Russ Limbaugh as speaker of GOP.
Russ Limbaugh has no class.
Right at the moment there is no "one" speaker. They are trying to rebuild but when the media parrots the Obama line of Rush is the leader or Cheney or any other republican who spouts off, then people will remember the names they hear most often. The attacks against Palin continue at will. Can you also tell me when the media also talk about the republicans' comments or ideas towards anything other than again parroting them as the party of "no"? I thought I heard democrats parrot no pretty often too during the Bush years. Being an independent and not slavish to either party feels pretty good and it also lets you see that the media is more biased in favor of Obama than they will ever admit.
What, nobody cited Palin? Maybe there's hope for the Republicans after all.
Poll: Majority unsure who speaks for the GOP
This hardly bad news for Republicans. If any of these guys oth.er than McCain were the leader that would be bad news for us all. They are playing an eleborate shell game in which the real leader is kept a mystery. It is like the MX missle for politics. Once the Dems find out who leads the GOP he or she will be the bad news
Good news though Mitt Romney was not considered.
WOW!! If most feel Limbaugh speaks for the Republican Party, the party is in deep doo doo!!!
Wow... I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but take a good long look at the four faces CNN has attached to this article. Only McCain appears to be trying to crack the slightest smile. The other three faces in that image look like they 've never seen any fun in their lives. Of course, CNN probably picked these pictures because it gives off the impression of angry old men running the GOP, but nevertheless the image is rathering sobering, in context with what the article is about.
Who speaks for the GOP? I sure hope it's not one of the four bozos shown in the picture.
Who is the GOP leader? Let's see: he's an old white male, believes in "enhanced interrogation", and is still vocal in his support of policies of the Bush administration that led us to unnecessary war, economic disaster, and tarnished national reputation. His criticism of Obama is reflexive, loud and vicious, but short on facts. So, you can see how it could be any of them.
the democrats are failing to the point of complete financial destruction of this country. mickey mouse could run in 2012 for the republicans and would win. obama is mentaly confused, he is a narcissist.
Oh what great news. In 2004 after George Bush won and the Dems were in shambles, they were also in the same situation. Things change. so be a bit patient Obama News Network, rebublicans will have a leader in time, and till then CNN can make hay when the sun shines.
The Republicans will regroup and reclaim the White House in just 3 and 1/2 years....thanks in large part to Barack Obama, who is running the economy into the ground. You can't blame Bush anymore!
It does not matter who their main speaker is. They all read from the same talking points memo. And, it's always the same message... no, no, no... where's the birth certificate, no,no,no... he's a Muslim, no, no, no...he's a failure, no,no,no...lower taxes for the rich, etc.
As a REAL conservative (not a neo-Con) whose parents were both Republicans (and who, if alive, would not support this party in its current state), I say let them tear the party apart. Until the Republicans return to their fiscally conservative-socially libertarian roots, I couldn't care less how far they go down the toilet.
Just further illustrations of the disarray of the republican party and why so many of us have left and become independants (or democrats). In my opinion the only salvation will be if and when the party splits into a christian republican party and a republican libertarian party. until then, the only one to reap the benifits will be the left wing of the democratic party as they gain impetus to move the party away from its moderate stance.
It seems clear that their benchmark for leadership is anyone with the LOUDEST voice, who is able to get press by saying anything NEGATIVE or just NO, to the Obama Administration. Or saying anything NEGATIVE toward anyone who does not have the same negative view of the world, including other members of their own religious/political/fear/war mongering extremist group.
[insert voice of Nelson from the Simpsons]
Ha–HA!
Wow... looking at those 4 photos tells the story
We are sick and tired of fat old white men running this country !
Sorry guys, the gig is over !
Wow...Micheal Steele gets no respect...sad
My suggestion for the GOP - return to more closely resemble what you were in 1969 when I registered GOP: fiscal responsibility and little government intrusion into people's lives. That means leave religion to church leaders. And then add some 21st century necessities along the lines of energy and conservation.
Just take a look at those four guys in the picture. A more dour bunch of pasty faced old white guys you couldn't find if you tried (OK the Sunday morning round table guys come close).
Talk about being out of touch, none of these guys has a clue or for that matter cares about you and me. I include McCain in that bunch since he did the Palin thing and proved that he can pander with the best of them.
These guys are political zombies, someone find a silver bullet and put them out of our misery. Where's Colin Powell when you need him?
Discombobulated, in disarray = dismissed.
Okay, so who speaks for the Democratic Party? President Obama? Nancy Pelosi? Harry Reid? George Soros? Bill Maher? Bill Ayers? Jeremiah Wright? Patty Sheehan? Jimmy Carter?
Personally, I prefer the Democratic leadership views of Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.
Republicans need to get their act together. They seem not to understand why they lost the last two elections.
How can the GOP have a coherent, consistent mouthpiece when its "values" are a mish-mash of contradictions...."Pro Life" but only for the unborn (white fetuses in particular), Pro War when there's money to be made and other people's resources to control, Pro Democracy yet proponents of huge invasive Federal powers and thus giving America the highest incarceration rate and prison population of any country, Pro Woman while offering voters the tragically comedic Sarah Palin, Pro fiscal conservatism while having trashed a huge budget surplus it inherited and replacing that with a record breaking deficit. Yup, they need a mouthpiece for that travesty of a platform...so it looks like we are stuck with more Limbaugh and Palin and Gingrich and Cheney rants for a while to come.
Rush Limbaugh is the man with the plan when it comes to the GOP. What's sad is that most of the elected GOP fears speaking out against him. His latest incredibly ridiculous statement was said a few days ago in that "Barack Obama did not inherit a mess. He inherited the United State of America, where anything is possible." Rush added: "There is nothing to apologize for what he inherited. He may as well be a 5-year-old crybaby spoiled brat:"
He later went on to say ""Obama is destroying what others before him created. He did not inherit a mess. He has created one. And as the mess he creates deepens, so does his blaming it on his predecessors. That is gutless. It is childish. It is immature. It is unbecoming someone who serves as president of the United States."
This is a man that should have is broadcast license taking away from him because now he is spreading down right lies and falsehoods over the "PUBLIC ALLY OWNED" air waves. The good news is that the GOP as a whole are too scared, stupid and rooted in hatred to distance themselves from this moron which will prove to be the end of the GOP/Conservative movement in this country.
Thank You Rush
A Great American
Of the 4 pictures I hope that McCain would be the one they see as the leader of their party..
HE IS THE ONLY CURRENTLY ELECTED OFFICIAL SHOWN!
Does the Got "0" Plans party of hate & bigotry still exist? I doubt it!!!!
I thought it was Jon Voight!
Hey I say it is Rush – he truly has done a great job of creating a picture of what the Republicans stand for!
The pic looks like an Ad for the next AARP Brochure.
if nothing else, it might be a good idea to go back and look at the numbers, ( you know, the numbers game ), but instead of fudging the numbers, but pull all Ron Pauls' numbers, ( given he had NO press coverage ), you will find an amazing thing..had the playing field been level, this viable candidate would have put the Republicans in a better position now, with less internal strife..the press, the bildenbergers, and the other illuminati of the world of course can't let this happen..can they..it's like trying to get the Freddie Mac report..say what, you want answers..forget a'bout it..
I guess the GOP should also be afraid of the newest poll from Rasmussen. It says that more people favor the GOP over the democrats in regards to all of the most important issues concerning Americans (Economy, National Security, Taxes, Iraq, Ethics reform, and Immigration). Oh wait, that is good news for the GOP. I forgot. That does not get posted on CNN tickers because the hired bloggers from the Democratic party cannot use their tired old talking points and catch phrases when it comes to dealing with fact...lol. Try blaming Bush for that, or saying old tired white guy, or Haliburton, and Palin is a bimbo, or party or No. Frankly, the American people think those talking points are nothing but juvenile, bitter, remarks from juvenile, bitter individuals, and come 2010 the people of this country will go to the polls and prove how feed up they are. : )
The Democrats are the true party of NO. No relief for the tax payers. No accountability when it comes to spending our money. No transparency in government. No help to the middle class. No to ideas that will help, and No to including the GOP and American citizens into the debate on how to make this country better.
Rush Limbaugh is the best voice of the GOP because he represents what the GOP is all about: Old, white, fat, rich, hypocritical.
There is a big gap opening up 'in the Middle' for the formation of a viable hird Party. About half of Americans are mildly fiscal conservatives and mildly social liberals...not unlike the majority in most western democracies whether it be Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, etc.
A third party that may succeed when it is a positive choice and not because it is 'not' one of the other two parties. It's difficult to know the dynamics in 2012 but a viable third option would siphonoff even more moderates from the GOP and leave the GOP to the born agains, bigots, and such. The Dems might lose moderate supporters and become largely the party of visible minorites.
That picture say's everything about the GOP.They got nothing. It is the party of being unorganized ,no direction,no leadership. And does not seem to know what they stand for.
just look at the picture attached to this story of these four old, mean, white has-been men ... do you need any more of an explanation of why the GOP is out of step, out of touch, out of contention?
What about Palin?
This is much like choosing between a broken leg,and a root canal.
I know who speaks for the GOP. The radical, religious right.
If one third of the Republican Party believes that they should stick to the current, social darwinist, pro-corporate, anti-science, anti-environmental, anti-working class line, then it means two thirds want to go somewhere else. If that third had won the election in 2008, this nation and this world would now be experiencing a world-wide economic depression that would make the 1930s look like a piker. I realize there are those who simply will not accept that reality, but most American people seem to be listening to the Republican leadership and understanding what they are saying and have rejected them. They are a dangerous bunch both in domestic and foreign policy. It appears that most people continue to rate President Obama's bipartisan administration very high in its attempt to guide us both through this recession and to lead the world toward peaceful coexistence.
Without a doubt the conservatives will pooh-pooh this survey since
a) it is not a Fox survey therefore it's just more "librul" media bias
b) It does not reflect favorably on them, so it can't be true
c) it did not crown Rush, and you are doomed if you cross Rush
d) it did not condemn Obama, a neocon prerequisite for acceptance
Like the Democrats in the early 1980s, the Republicans deserve whatever they get for saying a lot, but doing nothing for the last 8 years. These Republican hypocrites are too consumed with themselves and their lofty, abstract, "ideals." Yet they have managed to backtrack or oppose every "brand" they have given themselves over the last 8 years. First, it was "family values" followed by more sexual scandals and corruption scandals than any party had ever seen. Second, it was "national security" and "safety" followed by false information, stubborness, and unwillingness to admit they were wrong. Where are the WMD's? Third, it was the "country first" fiasco presented by McCain/Palin. LOL!!! Yet, the majority of voters managed to see through that smoke screen.
So now, their challenge is to "redefine" themselves for the 30th time and hope someone catches on. Micheal Steele will hip-hop-enize them from the front while Rush Limbaugh puts the white sheets over their heads from the back. LOL!!!
It's the message, not the messenger. Unlike Democrats, content matters to Republicans; they don't get hung up on deity worship.
Pretty much doesn't matter though, does it? Pick your poison GOPers...every one of those people is toxic to your survival.
As long as the GOP mouthpieces continue spewing the same old tirades as in the past they will continue to be in disaray. Even with the current issues in the Obama adminisration, they are at least trying new things to move this country forward and become a true global partner.
Pack it up boys; you're toast!!! What a four pack of worthless; brainless; spineless representation. I am ashamed that once I was a republican... some of this characters are criminals for crimes against humanity; the other a drug addict; unfaithful and just plain clueless.
Are we really suprised?
Not that a million people were polled, but it gives light to where this dark party is going, hopefully they take heed and grow up.
Well that's not a surprise now is it!
Could not name a person, or would not name one? If the people polled are anything like my oldest friend, who is a Republican (I'm not), they would rather not have any of the people claiming to speak for the GOP, certainly not the 4 men pictured for this story.
So what else is new? we told you so
A party of old white men with no new ideas...
Alexander Mooney – what stupid purpose did this lame excuse for journalism serve? Furthermore, Republican's do not need to moderate. I suggest you try to ask a wider sample of Republican's this question to get a true picture of how Republican's see the their party. It used to be journalists' took pride in having their readers constantly guessing as to which side of the political spectrum they fell. Not anymore! The love affair you moron's have with Obama is revolting and careful, your bias is showing!!!
And the winner is..... Rush Limbaugh with 13% of the vote. That sounds about right to me. Let`s see, 13% of Republicans... who account for less than half of the voting population.... and he`s up there around 6% of the country. Are there really that many knuckleheads in America?
Tell us something we did'nt know. This party is pitiful; their rhetoric is hateful; I'm surprised they're still in existence. What is their purpose, besides cock-blocking everything Obama? It sure isn't "Country First", that theme lasted until Nov. 5th 2008, before it turned into the more comfortable: Every man for himself.
The problem is that they need to change their image. I grew up believing that Republicans were different only in idea. That the president, no matter what party, was a good and honest person who cared about our country. I also believed that Andy Griffith was a real sheriff....but now....I really believe they are under-educated, dishonest hateful, greedy, religious zealots. Its just the truth for me now....they really need to step up to the plate and get their act together. I feel they hate anyone who is different. They are judgmental and preach about how government should stay out of our lives and at the same time try to use government to control peoples personal decisions.....George and Dick ruined the Republican party in the same way the religious right ruined religion.
None of the obove. Must be Jon Voit..........
Perhaps it's either David Duke or Sarah Palin
Well, if that's not a sign of how bad things are for them, I don't know what is. 52% can't tell who's leading, and of the names that are mentioned, a radio host is leading a former VP and the last Presidential candidate? Wow.
The desperately need to find new leadership, and head back to the true roots of the party. People would respond to those ideals of small government and fiscal responsibility. It is the extreme factions of the party that have gotten too much power and pushed everyone else away.
Speaking as an African American, it is impossible at this point to see myself ever joining a party or agreeing with a party that attracts so many negative people when it comes to the views of other cultures, like the GOP. I go to Fox News sometimes and I review their messages in the blogs and I see so many references on every article that deals with Obama to bananas and monkeys and watermelon. How can I ever support a party that attracts this anti anything of any other culture types of people? What some see as American traditions being destroyed or “the complete destruction of our country” as many GOPers are crying; I see the destruction of exclusion and a view that looks at all cultures around the world and say “how do I be a good citizen of this massive community?” With the shift in demographics in America to one with a more diverse culture of all colors, the GOP will have a long climb back to power if they cling to their more xenophobic and separatist brand of “conservatives”.
Ouch. That sounds even worse than many of us on the left were probably hoping for. So, 33% of the party has an unfavorable view of their own party, and another 33% thinks that the GOP should not change its policies. Which, I would think, will further alienate that previous 33%. So, the GOP is looking at dropping their numbers down to <70% of where they are now. Didn't some recent poles indicate that only ~30% (maybe less) of the country considers themselves Republican? Drop that by a third and ....well, I think you know what I'm getting at.
Bye Bye GOP. It's been fun (not really).
How is this any different than where the Democrats were in 2005? Who was the spokesman for the party and obvious leader at that time?
Maybe they out to get real. We are not living in the "Reagan era" any longer. This is a new world in a new time. I am so sick and tired of hearing all th Republican's talk about Reagan. He's gone and so are his policies. This is a new world and they should be helping our President survive this new world instead of fighting him over everything. I am disgusted with hearing all the garbage that comes out of both Limbaugh and Gingriches mouths. I am ready to turn Democrat.
At this time in my life I am ashamed to be a republican. I am almost 80 years old–never voted for a democrat until 2008. The republicans are acting like brats who don't get their way. I am ashamed I ever was one.
Wow that should be a wake up call for the R .I am an independent who sometimes agree with them in the past but now they are acting like a circus with no new ideas or any smart contributions to the direction of the country.Agree or not with the democrat at least they are trying something ,plus 8 years of republicains rules brought us here in this mess.I will not vote for you untill you get your act togherter, stop unsulting the president with nonsense bring concrete ideas not budget no number or your crazy health plan. Obama is not the only one who have to save this country do your part or shut up.
Like communism, supply side economics is a failed economic model. Each time it has been tried, it has resulted in hardship for most Americans. Those third of Republicans, who think that the GOP should not change its policies, are like diehard communists who, in spite of all evidence, refuse to see that their economic model cannot work.
The reality is that you cannot lower taxes without reducing the government’s spending FIRST. You cannot lower taxes and just hope for the best. You cannot hold up defense spending as if it were not government spending – just ask the Soviets about how that one worked out for them. You cannot support corporate and farm welfare while attacking other forms of welfare.
The reality is that you cannot go around telling people how to behave in some cases while saying that government needs to get out of people's lives. That's called cognitive dissonance at best – blind hypocrisy at worse.
I see no hope for the GOP as long as they are the anti-constitutional party. It is time for independents to form a strong constitutional based party and relegate the Christian-Trickle downers to the dustbin of history.
The problem is that no one is telling people like Rush and Cheney to shut up. They are digging the party such a deep hole that the party is going to be lucky if it sees daylight ever again. And frankly Steele, who should be the only person speaking for the Republican party at the moment, is such a wimp he backs down whenever either of them shakes a finger at him.
The GOP just continues its Stalineque purge of moderates in the name of ideological purity. As long as the party leaders take their marching orders from the likes of El Rushbo and his flying monkeys, the GOP will only languish in irrelevance.
These poll numbers will just get worse and worse as more people become disillusioned by a party whose ilk resorts to schoolyard insults, faux outrage, bumper sticker slogans in place of real policy, and a machoistic approach to foreign policy instead of putting forth thoughtful debate and leaders who understand that three quarters of America want nothing to do with the rabid far right.agenda.
If you look at the picture you will see one obvious connection. All these men are Old, White, Full of hate and stupid.
All of the above serve as leaders.
This is one of my biggets pet peeves with the press , the need to live your whole life in a day. They are in a mad rush to annoint someone the leader of the republican party. This is an organic thing it will take some time. People will gravitate to the person with the best message and leadership skills. Give it time and lets enjoy the journey of seeing who that person will be.
No second guess: Rush-Nwet-Cheney.
The poll in this survey has no value to individual as I (an independent). How many of the 1015 polled individuals were Republican? You make statement such as 13% of the Republicans polled identified Rush Limbaugh as the voice for the party. Since you did not identify how many Republicans were polled, I can make the assumption maybe one hundred Republicans were polled, equating that 13 Republicans identifies Limbaugh as the party's voice. Article demonstrates that polls can show whatever one wants it to show based on one bias or party leaning(s).
Try asking the dems who speaks for their party. You'll get answers ranging from Pelosi, Reid, Rachel Madcow, Olberman, Matthews, and the "mouth of the south" Carville.
Everybody know that the de facto leader of the Republican party/ GOP/ Conservatives is Boss Limbaugh. We know this because republican elected officials bend to the will of Boss Limbaugh. They apologize when they say something that he does not approve of. They make their policies according to his liking and his words guide their decisions. Limbaugh articulates the GOP platform and the party moves according to his word.
Many repuglicans think that this perception is some sort of political trickery by Liberals and Democrats. I can assure my conservative counterparts that it is not. We are simply calling it as we see it. And what we see is Limbaugh leading this party to complete destruction and total obscurity.
The picture accompanying this article says it all...
"Old Men in Suits"
The 21st century is leaving them behind.
Who speaks for the GOP?
No one......and every one!
That's what happens when a group lacks leadership.........every knucklehead tries to get his/her 2 cents in and all you end up with is a lot of noise but no clear message!
Get Well Soon, GOP.......
The so-called leaders of the Republican Party are interested only in publicity for themselves. They create controversy for the sole purpose of writing a book, which they then sell to the 20 million or so die-hard followers. That is why these leaders are not interested in broadeining the party; winning elections is not their aim, selling books is. Limbaugh's 13-20 Million is all he needs to maintain his 450 Million dollar cotract; just ask Joe Scarbrough.
Unsure of who speaks for the GOP? That's simple...
In no particular order:
Rush
Palin
Steele
Newt
McCain (dad and daughter)
Sanford
Boehner
Cheney
did I forget anybody?
GOP: All white males. And you wonder why their party got destroyed during the election. No diversity, no ideas and no empathy for the poor and less fortunate in our society. They talk outwardly like christian conservatives, just as I am a democratic conservative that believe in Jesus Christ, but their actions from their heart is telling me something else. That's why I switched parties. The GOP is not color blind...they act like they are, but really there not.
All I see and hear is hate against the President. You know President Obama did not reck this economy...his policies both internally and externally did not destroy America's credibility.
Just do your research and learn what happened over the decades and how this economy eventually would go down the drain.
Moreover, because of the total mess the last administration left and the policies tha help drive this nation down the drain, President Obama - HAD TO TAKE EXTREME measures to stop the bleeding. I know that It will take a FEW YEARS for this enconomy to recover. So stop blaming the President Obama for everything in society.
The headline does not support th content of this piece. Of course they have no clear leader, they just got a big smack-down. It is the same as the Dems after the 1994 smack-down. The American voter will and has punished both parties in the past. Im waiting for the day they send a message to both parties and elect a good strong third party that keeps them both honest. Now that would be change.
You have a headline claiming that no one is sure who speaks for the Republicans. Then you have a photo right below which shows 4 middle aged white men. Last time I checked the leader of the GOP was black. I think that might be the problem right there. This party just doesn't want to be led by a black male.
None of the people mentioned should be a "leader".....they are not.
Gov Charlie Crist of Florida would have been a good one for the slot.
The GOP needs to spend this time finding themselves.
Republicans have to start over. The people representing there party are just not good at all. FOX NEWS, Hannity, Rush are bad for the Republicans.
The party of NO...no ideas, no recognition, no clue!
This poll is idiotic. Whichever party holds the presidency, that president is automatically the speaker for their party. The party that is out of power won't have a main speaker until their party selects one in the next presidential primary.
Why wasn't CNN doing these polls when Bush was President and Democrats had yet to select their presidential candidate? Because the same number would come up divided between Harry, Nancy, Hillary, Obama, MoveOn.org, etc.
Stupid poll.
As a former GOPer I would like to see a strong Libertarian party come out of this mess. Then the current GOP can become the US version of the Taliban imposing their religious views on the rest of the country and fade into obscurity.
For a party that used to espouse freedoms and civil liberties they sure are quick to tell you when you have strayed from the religious right.
If it where a game of poker, I would fold my hand.
This poll is hardly surprising. The fact that there isn't a clear leader is painfully obvious.
What is really sad is that a third of Republicans say they should not moderate their policies. This will spell the demise of the party. I will find it very hard to consider voting Republican as long as the extreme right ultra conservative zealots have a strangle hold on the party. Most of the country is in the middle. The party will be in trouble until they figure that out and embrace it in both words and deeds.
Never polled me. Everybody I talk to are very concerned that the current Administration for blowing massive amounts of money on short term jobs which are still not materializing. In about 10 months you will see the Democrats starting to campaign because they know their plan is not working. No worries, Conservatives will come in and clean up their massive mess they created for no reason other then to get elected.
One thing's for sure: Whoever's leading it is a complete idiot.
(And I love how they're all ancient white men! Perfect view of what the party is... and always will be.)
What a picture. Old white men (OWM). That says it all right there. They do not want or have the ability to speak for America anymore. They just don't get it, and that is the GOP's problem. Every time these OWM speak they put their foot in their mouth. The GOP, if they want to survive, needs to retire these people and seek a younger more connected group who the public can relate to.
Every time the OWM speak it comes through as hate or sour grapes and that is what the people are hearing. Isn't this obvious?
Unfortunatly for the GOP they all speak for the GOP ;(
I sure would like to here from one of these poles. What do they do ask all Democrats the questions. And of course all will beleive exactly what you print. NOT
And yet the Republicans believe that they're on a so-called 'comeback' because of 1 conservative leaning Rasmussen poll (out of the other 99% of polls that has them at a huge deficit compared to the Democrats). I even heard that nutjob, Pat Robertson quote Rasmussen today. I'll take the majority of the other polls over 1 lonely Rasmussen poll anyday. If the Republicans don't even like their own party then can you imagine how many Democrats and Independents don't like their party either. But I digress... A GOP politicans job isn't only to attack, you are paid by the American people to come up alternative policies (and don't masquerade the old, unsuccessful ones as new ones either) and if you don't have alternatives, then don't expect to be voted into the majority ever again. RIP GOP! RIP!
An obvious and intresting question that you never answered for us was whether the 1/3 of disgruntled Republicans was the same 1/3 that did not want the GOP to moderate, or were they the ones that did. Any chance you might enlighten us?
That photograph says a lot. It says "This is the party of rich, old white guys who say "no" to pretty much everything, without offering anything innovative." It's no wonder that so many members are finding little to identify with.
The republican party is the party of old and rednecked folk that is due to fade away. Political parties that are based on religious extremism whether in the US or the middle east must not survive.
Republicans are strong right wing religious extremists that cannot help world peace or the USA.
Only a party that is open to peace and dialogue across the world instead of military bravado and "end times talk" is good for the USA.
I feel sorry for the republicans who don't see the cast of buffoons, who are pictured above, to be speaking for them. The current GOP is made up of philosophies that worked in the last century, not today.
It's time to stop behaving like spoiled children, stop playing the holy roller card, admit your past faux pas, and the real world will slip right back under your feet. I wouldn't buy a used car from any one of the four pictured above...isn't that creepy.
Republicans need a more moderate voice. The "Far Right" carries much too much weight in the party. I consider myself a moderate–I agree with many conservative values, but I also hold many views and beliefs that cannot align with the arch conservative agenda. I would very much like to see Mr. Gingrich or Romney take more leadership in the party. I am repelled as much by the radical right as by the radical left. Both leave me cold as I wonder if they consider the American people or just their political agendas. I think we know which it is.
What do you see in the picture. The same old persons over and over again. The Republican Party need fresh young faces that can bring in the younger voters. They also need one voice leading them. Once they do that they can then unite the party instead of it being divided.
What a joke! You use a poll from the Obama controlled USA Today? Try polling the Democratic Party. Who knows who is truly in charge? Barack? Nancy? Harry? Joe? They certainly do not speak as one... What a silly article.
All that means is we don't have a rockstar figurehead like Obama. Well, who does? Who spoke for the Dems from 2000-2008? No one important.
This poll says more about media bias then it does about Republican leadership. Did the media ever ask Democrates "Is Keith Olbermann the face of your party? No, of course not. John McCain has set the right tone, and should be seen by the media as the face and voice of the Republican party. He caries the scars, and should be respected. This is his party.
The more Rush, Palin and Cheney talk, the deeper the hole. Aren't they smart enough to see this?
that is no big suprise. Looking back, John McCain actually seems like a nice moderate leader compared to the rest of the retreads, wannabees and those with an ax to grind.
they need a leader–and at the moment, anyone with enough savvy and character to lead them doesn't want to touch Newt, Sarah, Rush, Karl or Dick with a ten-foot pole...hence, the problem.
Fat Rich Hateful Old White Guys.
That's the GOP.
You can "rebrand" the party all you want, but facts is facts is facts.
Fat Rich Hateful Old White Guys.
GOP – Same Old Thing, Same Old People.
A third of Republicans in the poll said the GOP should not moderate its policies in its quest to regain power.
And you will never regain power simple as that. RIP
Thanks Rush, Newt & Cheney....you're doing a great job.....not even your noise machine on FOX seems to be helping you, and no mention of Sarah Palin either!
Old.
White.
Men.
Take a look in the mirror GOP and join this century. You are overlooking tons of talent but you need to join this century.
What a shock!
Except Mr. McCain the first three have been doing a pretty good job of not being able to keep their mouths shut on everything Obama does. To make the matter worse, they even went on offensive and attacked one of their most prominent respected GOP icon, Gen. Powell. They have not learned from the past election. Young voters got tired of attacks and divisive politics. Younger generations are willing to look for the common grounds (from both parties) to make things better from the neutral zones. GOP has not leared how to listen. Right now it is still a bunch of ignorant, arrogant, and stuck up fellows who think their golden time is not over yet. GOP sounds like "Grand Old Polluted (party) to me. Just settle down, listen, and they would be able to identify themselves and start it from their. Ciao
I used to consider myself a Republican , but no longer. I just consider myself a conservative. The party is going to have to do better than those four if they want to win any elections. They need someone who doesn't come off as an angry old man.
It doesn't matter who speaks for the Republican Party.
They all say the same thing.
It's the same old Supply-Side, Trickle-Down, Taxcuts for the rich, Deregulation, Anti-Labor diatribe that the Republicans have been chanting for a hundred years.
Twice, in less than a Century, the Republican Supply-Siders have created an economic depression and now they say that we need more tax-cuts and deregulation.
The Republicans love to quote Ronald Reagan's mantra; "Government isn't the solution, Government is the problem."
When the Republicans are in control, government really is the problem. The Republicans make sure that government doesn't work.
If the Republicans want to remain a viable party, then they should offer concrete plans and solutions to the real and relevant issues of the American people.
Just criticizing President Obama and the Democrats and saying no without offering any alternatives is a dead end that will continue to lead to the ongoing decline and irrelevance of the GOP
GOPres are going down the drain if these oldies keep talking and bashing there old slogan fearmongring. tax cut for the rich. I don't see any young ang progracive idias in GOP who can srear it in 21st century. It is still not late to support young and vibrent OBAMA administration for ther support in healthcare reform, economy , create jobs and finish two war and bring troops back to there family.
At last a sign that the repubs are waking up to reality. If limbo is the best they can come up with, there's hope for the country.
The reason no one thinks Limbaugh, Cheney, McCain, or Gingrich represent the GOP is because these neo-con dinosaurs aren't, and never have been, true Republicans. The lot of them are Big Government, big spending, paranoiacs who disgrace the name of Barry Goldwater. These people somehow managed to steal the name of the Republican Party, but never had the slightest interest in living up to the philosophies the party once represented.
The only real Republican left in the GOP is, it appears, Ron Paul.
The republicas needs a message to convey to the American people. Everytime one of them come on TV all they do is whine and whine and attack the president. Where is the message? Being the opposition party is ok but when you oppose something, offer a solution to the problems we face as Americans. The republicans offers nothing new that might interest more than the party robots.
if they wanted to beat the other half of the party- the democrats- they would put Ron Paul in front-
if they wanted to beat the other half of the party- the neo-cons- they would put Ron Paul in front-
Ron Paul was right about the collapse of the credit & housing markets during the debates.
Ron Paul was right about the bailouts not stopping the bankruptcy of the PRIVATELY HELD auto makers.
When will Americans understand the Constitution is allways right, the free market will always win, even though we havent had a free market in decades, it did not fail- the central bankers and economic planners failed- socialism failed, and now we are getting marxism from the current admin.
Could it be that people don't see any clear leaders because the only thing teleivised (or more accurately, shoved down their throats) every hour of everyday is what Rush or Newt have to say?
Last time I checked neither of these two hold any office, do not vote in the Senate and therefore, do not make ANY policies or laws.
If Dems expect to be taken serioulsy, it's time to put this ridiculous propaganda battle along with their all too fragile egos aside and stop worrying and whinning about what either of them think. They are irrelevant.
good, they earned it, deserve it and I hope they ride these numbers as the GOP goes down in flames and up rises the independant party
bye bye GOP
All of them sound the same. The worst I heard so far was Gingrich, not a citizen of the world???? sorry, but no one was to be a bad citizen, here in our nation or any other place in our world, and that's exactly the message that President Barack Obama comunicated to the world. We want peace, and if the whole world unites and we all work together for a better future for our children. I do truly believe that we are aiming in the right direction. We had seen with our own eyes how things have progress for the past eight years. pre-facricated war. over spending, healthcare, education, veterans forgatten, they claim that is the media, but we know better. enough, and yes we can. Thank you President Barack Obama.
no matter who may be speaking for the GOP right now from Mike Steele to Joe the Plumber NONE of them seem to have a message that a majority of Americans want to listen to. Seems like only both of the McCains are talking sense and when they do they get shouted down by the right wing of the party. Until their infighting stops and they come up with some sort of idenity other than just saying "NO" to President Obama and griping like little kids that can't accept the fact that they lost and the message they are sending is only acceptable to 33% of the population, doesn'y matter who the leader is.
How about showing the latest polls on Democrats? Most Americans are now independants. The Democrats have been losing voters too. I guess that would be too hard for CNN to report. After all you have to report only what Obama tells you to report.
And they still won't learn. As a former republican, I am tired of the way they are acting. Being a conservative is not just in the pocket-book and it definitely NOT about the religious right . The only thing that defines a modern day conservative is that they do not want to spend any money. For a true conservative that is not on the top of the list. It is individual and state rights, and no matter what Rush and those other fools are saying, the republican party is not supporting those rights. The extreme religiously right is more interested in using the republican party for their own agenda. I do not see the republicans returning to the days of being the party of true conservatives anytime soon, and until that time I will continue to support Democrats. They may not be perfect, but they are a whole lot better than republicans.
This is a party that doesn't stand for anything. They exhibit NO HONOR. They don't offer solutions, they only through CRAP on the table. We Americans dont' like that.
PAY-AS-YOU-GO is a good example. There is NOTHING wrong with that idea. Yet all the GOP wants to do is complain about the stimulus bill because they HOPE to score political points if the country thinks of that as massive spending tied to the President.
- Never mind it includes both tax cuts and spending.
- Never mind that it was necessary due to Republican ineptitude over the past 8 years.
President Obama is staking out the fiscally responsible ground with an idead, with a plan, with action and all the GOP can do is complain that it should have been done sooner.
Yeah, it should have been ... about 8 years ago. So GOP, how are you going to add value?
No wonder the GOP has turned into an obstructionist party devoid of any good ideas or philosophies. This is sad because the health of the American political system requires the loyal minority opposition party to offer substantive alternative ideas and policies.
I think we need to take a look at who is elected into office. Back ground checks should be made. Seems like there are a lot of nuts in office. How can you have peace outside of the our Country when the Republicans and the Democrates can't keep peace in Washington, DC or as we see in New York!!!
Darn it! Sarah Palin didn't even make 1%
Let's start with PR and marketing. The Republicans are the worst at it I've ever seen. They need to hire a high powered PR firm that can help them get a brand mesage out there and stick to it. Remember " It's the economy stupid . Or Obama's simplistic "Change." Can anyone remember McCain's message? I didn't think so. They also need to stand
up to the liberal media at every turn. They are the most silent, "just take it" bunch out there. It's pathetic. I know it's tough with the media in the tank for the Democrats, but it's got to be done. Also, don't waver one inch from
conservative principles. Obama will fall on his face and people will realize the Republican way is the American way. At this point what do you have to lose? DO SOMETHING NOW.
Hey,
Is Steele just a token for the GOP? I don't see his face amongst the Repubs Who's Who.
1. How is it that a known opiate addict/radio talk show host can hold any credence with anyone in any political arena?
2. Dick Cheney is no longer Vice President. He already made a killing in more ways than one. Retire already.
3. Same goes for George W. Bush.
4. John McCain you lost....
5. Newt Gingrich give it up
This country is ready for a fresh start and real, positive change.
By the way, if anyone is a false prophet it's George W. Bush winning the war on terror...Ha. More like making sure he's sitting pretty while he watches the rest of the country lose their shirts at his expense.
Everyone of those 4 people pictured in that photo are ignorant, racist people. They rely more on bigotry and religion than any government policy to persuade their base. The fact that people are unsure which of these men leads the party is great.
I'm not a republican but there are some good ones like: Colin Powell and Ron Paul, who use their intelligence/political theories to make points rather than blame everything on immigrants, democrats, gays, and the usual rhetoric that comes out of their mouth. Furthermore I could see both of those men actually saying "I made a mistake" OR "we were wrong". You never hear republicans self reflect like that.
I think the republican constituency is finally realizing (to some extent) that the ideas that are so crucial to their party: namely not producing a deficit and smaller government ; were grossly violated by the last republican administration while it spewed out its normal rhetoric to defend itself while everything went in the toilet.
I have been a republican all of my life until now. I voted for Obama because Sarah Palin is totally unacceptable for vice president much less president of the US. I probably at this point will never go back to the Republican Party. The Republicans' behavior following the election is disgraceful. They are sore losers, Cheney and Bush almost totally ruined our country and the Republicans need to get into the real world. I had an abortion and never once regretted it. I had to drive to Mexico because it was illegal in the US, and I could have died on the operating table, luckily I didn't. Also, I firmly believe (after listening to so many gays) that the gays are born gays and they are totally discriminated against by the Republicans. In addition, the Republicans need to get rid of these religious idiots. They have only harmed the Republican Party, and the religious right is the most judgmental group of people, and I run from them. Wendy Crews
It is the party of white, greedy, mean spirited old men. Out of th four pictured, three cheated on their wives, three avoided the draft, one was a drug addict, and one has a lesbian daughter and yet is against the rights of gay people. With this in charge, how can you possibly be a party that deserves respect.
Hmmmm ... there's something that they all seem to have in common .... cant quite put my finger on it. Oh wait, I get it they are all old grey-haired white guys. Could that be their problem??
I'm a Republican, and proud of it. But, I have NO clue who speaks for the national party. I speak for my beliefs. And I know that no one in the Democratic leadership speaks toward any of my concerns.
It's time that the leadership of the GOP get it's damned act together and find a solution – stop the finger pointing. Stop the bickering. And stop the destruction of this country by the Socialist party now in control.
That can only be done if the GOP realizes that the Country comes first, not politics. Not cronyism. Not the doom-sayers.
I want my country back.
Actually I will put Dr Ron Paul against any GOP candidate in a debate and Dr Paul will smoke them on every topic. Then he will address their corruption and their voting record of corruption.
Compared to the last GOP candidates for President, Ron Paul was a mental GIANT.......
The GOP is looking to see who they can make popular, not who is best qualified to lead the party or even have a chance of winning.
The Media on purpose shut Dr Ron Paul out of several Presidenial debates by not allowing him to speak.
The fact is the Republicans were and are corrupt. During the corrupt Bush years numerous GOP people were arrested for corruption.
Thier Bush administration so far has gotten away with illegally wire tapping Citizens phones, torturing inmates and breaking several genieva Conventions, a stated by General Petrayous.
Yet none of them have been indicted, again corruption.
There is a movement in the country and it is called a REVOLUTION.
We all watched as Tea Party Tax revolts were held all over the US.
Now on September 12th there is a Million man March planned on Washington.
In the forst week of announcement over 2 Million RSVP's.
The number is now over 5 MILLION.
The people are untiting and they have had enough of thievery and corruption from both parties.
VIVA LA REVOLUTION
Take a note media: Romney, Cheney's and McCain's daughters, as well as Sarah Palin are NOT on the list! So stop pushing their opinions when obviously nobody cares about them!
Any CNN poll shows the intellegence of the people who believe what these guys read regardsless of the truth of it.
Every independant, and democrat I speak too are actually as disgusted by their democrats in congress as they are any republican. This joke of a president will look stupid in 2010 when he doesn't have onlly Dems giving him stuff to sign, and CNN has to start reporting on both sides.
Keep Obama's Nation out of my Village !!!
Please clear up for me whether or not Newt Gingrich is a Christian. When he spoke at the GOP dinner, he mentioned that he is not a citizen of the world. If he's a Christian it seem that the remark he made is thumbing his nose up to Jesus, our Lord. It was Jesus that commissioned the Christian to go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. According to his comment, it sounds to me that he's not too crazy about that commission.
Ithought it was Jon Voight!
The party of Rush and Southern rednecks
One picture says more than thousands words.
We have angry, old white men opposing to everything which begs a change.
And they have only a vaguest of an idea that somehow the younger generations are not following their "conserve and keep the status quo" policies any more.
I can careless about the republican party of rich white old men (basically pale and stale). When politicians forget about the workers and side with big corporate america, well there is a reason for greed, reason why the top 1% got richer and the 99% of workers struggle. there is no bailout for the average worker, heck we get to pay for this mess, and ensure top managers get their big pay day. The middle class is no more, and the republican party support the values of corporate america, and fail to represent a view of how to improve the quality of american lives. The big no party. they need to suffer the pains of reality.
Just pick any OLD,FAT, ARROGANT,and JUDGEMENTAL white guy stuck in the past and he'll be your guy.....Same product, just different packaging.
When I saw the mean-spirited Republicans, especially Newt Gringich, Bob Dole and Henry Hyde (and others) continually trying to sabatoge Pres. Clinton's presidency at every turn, not even including his indiscretion, I decided I was through with that party. I can't think of even one possible potential candidate who might make me change my mind.
LMAO DUH!!! The Grand Oil Party LOVES to talk about how liberals bow to hollywood. Well...they bowed to Ron & Arnold. Both horrible actors as well as horrible politicians.
Yes...Reagan IS the reason we are in this mess-DE-REGULATION started with that idiot. He dismantled our infrastructure funding...I.E. roads, bridges, schools, etc.
NOW...the Grand NO Party is listening to a wanna-be with an Oxi problem and a mean spirit!!! WOW...I can't wait to watch the 21%'ers wonder through the forest for a decade.
Just look at the faces with this article and it tells it all; bitter, old white men. Oh, there is Bobby Jindahl, and Sarah Palin, no substance here. None of these people are qualified to lead this country in the right direction. I predict that President Barrack Obama will be the greatest president in the history of the country.
It is not a problem that no one person speaks for any group. This poll is meaningless. Just another reason for the Obama loving media to throw up a headline about bad poll numbers from the other side. Wait till that 20% inflation comes knocking and see whose poll numbers head south.
Let's face it, the Republican Party is a party of old, elite, white Christian men. It's not a party that appeals to most of the country any more. What the Republicans need to do is to keep these old farts on the back burner and showcase the young (and not stupid, AKA Palin) Republicans who are more diverse. They are making themselves endangered by constantly showcasing Limbaugh, Gingrinch, Cheney, McCain, and Palin. They can also forget about Romney – the American public, especially Republicans, will not vote for a non-Christian president.
So, they're really in a Catch-22. Keep the old brigade silent and let the young, diverse party speak or risk becoming extinct. Of course, to appeal to young, diverse populations, they have to become less conservative (alienating some of the extreme right) and more diverse (alienating the racist factions of the party) and running the risk of losing some supporters to gain more from the moderates/center.
I was a Republican for a long time..It is still a good party with good ideas. The four pictured, Limbaugh, McCain Gingritch and Cheney are obsolete and should hang it up and retire. New blood is needed before this party can get up and move on to new horizens.
When the republicans come out against pay as you go, they are slapping conservatives in the face. They should be jumping on it and seeing how Obama's plans work in a PAYGO world. Instead, they are 1) making Obama the only fiscal conservative in Washington 2) Giving the democrats the cover to keep spending more.
What the heck is wrong with the republican leadership?
Simply put, the GOP lacks leadership and message. It is clearly the party of “NO” that is viewed as non inclusive to the average American. Above all, the so-called leaders, such as: Newt, Dick, Steele, Palin, and lets not forget self propelled Rush.
For me a one time Republican, I am appalled with the direction of the GOP. They’ve chosen some of the most uneducated and bias individuals in America. Until they find a resonating consistent message with incredible inclusive leadership, the GOP will continue to be a slippery slope or a falling knife.
Ron Paul is our man!
Know what they all have in common? Old, white guys.
After 40 years as a Republican, I officially changed my Party affiliation to Libertarian. The reason? The Republican Party left me. They left their core values of financially responsible, free market conservatives and became a group of fanatical meglomaniacs! Cheney, Bush lied to the American people to satisfy their own agenda, and now we are involved in a war on two fronts that we should never have waged. Our Economy is a shambles and they are responsible. Limbaugh and Gingrich just throw tantrums in the Media. Not one Republican Politician today exhibits sensibility to the American cause, but instead relate everything to Party issues. That's hubris!
As long as the dialogue is "Attack the Dems and Obama" people are offended. Let's here some positive solutions and try to work together. All I see is specila interests scrapping over leftovers. I see a darwinian extinction in progress. They don't know how to change. So far it's bye bye dodo bird.
There's one thing that's certain...it's a distanced, out of touch, delusional, religious fanatic that is unable to provide the proper leadership and vision to right the path of our conservative party. The Bush administration deviated from traditional conservative principles on many fronts and injected christian principles and "moral" standards into the political debate that have no place in government and policy. McCain needs to reestablish his pre-2008 election conservative voice.
This is good because these guys are noting but hot air ballons. They want to continue the politics of division idealogy. Their view on issues will not work during this current time in politics. Time has change and these guys are out dated and the polls reflect just that.
When your record as a party is abysmal, when your rhetoric is nothing but hyperbolic filled rants about 'socialism' and 'racist judges', when all you have to offer is 'no', when you publically hope the majority party fails in their attempt to solve problems affecting the country and working Americans, you are bound to be seen as irrelevant, obstructionist and generally 'unfavorable.
Ideology and greed for power has apparently replaced intellectualism and desire for solutions within this ‘Republican’ party.
Don't forget to count those of us that gave up on the party and switched.
Sorry – didn't see Steele on the list at first.
Aw, we all know that RNC Chairman Limbaugh is the sneering, hateful voice of the Republican Party. He's also its piglike face.
joe scarboro has a book out with some refreshing honest criticism of the past 8 years, and some new ideas for the future of conservatism. maybe joe should be the spokesman for the GOP – they couldnt do any worse than the cast of unfunny clowns mentioned in the poll results.
until the republican party can shake off the pernicious influence of the belligerent neo-con hawks and the intrusive religious right it will never have credibility with the majority of the american electorate. its just too easy nowdays for people to stay informed, google the facts, and debunk their distortions and out and out lies.
im not a republican, nor am i a hard line lib – i have voted for candidates from both parties. but, if i am ever to consider voting for a GOP candidate again the party needs a fresh start and some new ideas. economic models and tax policies which favor corporations and the wealthy, combined with extreme social conservatism and interference in peoples' private lives is a road map to oblivion for the GOP (and the nation, and informed americans know this).
It is so funny that some them named Rush Limbaugh as their speaker. It is sad, sad!
Poll: Majority unsure who speaks for the GOP
And furture more a HUGE majority simply doesn't give a rip about who speaks for the GOP since all they do is spew hate and divisiveness.
Surprise, surprise!!
With incompetant gasbags like Cheney, Limbaugh, Gingrich (he used
to be the most intelligent republican ever, but has obviously totally lost
his brain), Steele, etc. all trying to sell an ideology that is completely
out of date, irrelevant to the younger generation and intellectually
totally flawed.
It will be years before the GOP will get any credibility back. And deservedly so.
How about a look up for the definition of a "leader"? All of the talking heads for the Republicans are losers. Their only "accomplishments" are in their own minds. Why is it only about getting elected? The principals that made this country great are around us, but we have losers; in their personal lives, professional lives and political lives that can't lead. There are no virgins out there, but come on people, the political process in this country is really screwed up where we hear about the political crap 24/7. It's all about getting your voice heard with no clear mandate as to what the real issues are and more importantly, the solutions.
Clearly, the leaders of the Republican Party are Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. The GOP would have a lot to offer if it stopped trying to engage in policy making and focused on mooseburgers and sink unclogging.
Yes, but...
The article states that, "Even more problematic for the GOP is that one-third of Republicans hold an unfavorable view of their party..." That might be true, but I can promise you that that 1/3 all disagree with Obama's socialist agenda.
What has Obama done differently than Bush? Reduced spending... Nope! (even if Obama fullfils his promise to reduce the deficit by half, it'll still be 4X's higher than when Bush left office) Ended the war in Iraq... Nope! (50K troops to remain in Iraq indefinitly). Decreased troop levels... Nope! (he has actually mimiced Bush's troop surge).
Obama (et al) is bad for America... Period!
I just heard Bill Bennett say on CNN that while President Obama's job approval ratings are high (in the 60%s), his policies are not. Well, yeah. That's what happened to Bush and other personally popular Presidents. They're likeable (remember, when everyone wanted to have a beer with Bush) but their policies aren't as popular and that in no way means political defeat. The idiot Bush got so-called 're-elected'. People generally vote on your OVERALL JOB RATING, not on one particular part (deficit spending) of a greater issue (the economy). By the way, BO still has a 55% approval rating on his handling of the economy in that poll). It's the overall job approval rating that counts. I just needed to get that off my chest, Mr. Bennett. Phew!
And why does America cares about that.. Oh I see only the 5% rich people group who pays big bucks to attend the republican campaign
events do, because they want this bunch of clowns to save their illgotten wealth from being given back the rightfull people who own them.
Hey didn't CNN reported that they earn 14 million dollars in one benifit gala alone, the richs' must be getting desperate. But who would listen to the bunch of lies they are planning against the democrat if the majority who consist of ordinary American people, cannot afford to pay for cable internet connection or least buy radio or newspaper anymore so they can listen to them.
Time to wake up and "smell the coffee". The November elections last year send a LOUD and CLEAR message to the GOP: Americans are sick of your way of running the country. Bush and his party drove the country off the cliff and we're all suffering for it now. It will take a very long time for anyone to take these guys seriously again.
When ....... 52%....... of Americans do not know who speaks for the GOP, that's a sign that the GOP is not only in serious trouble, but that they are still.... not ......getting it!
I was not polled, since I live in a red state and I am a registered Independent. I would have answered, Lush-Limbaugh if asked.
The way the GOPers all listen to him, all are beholding to him and feel the need to apologize to the drug addict every time they do not follow his lead, it is obvious that Lush is the GOP leader.
I am a PROUD Democrat. Nevertheless, I do believe in the two party
system. The present problem with the Republican Party is a problem of their own making. Check out "Separation of Church and State".
What happened to the new found glorious "speaker/actor" Jon Voight ?apparently anyone can carry out the voice of scare tactics, fear mongering and "non citizens of the world" poopaganda, well... not quite, it seems farther difficult task to take place now that america has woken up! they are not just at civil war with each other the GOP (Great Obliterated Party) as usual want to take their righteous, radical mindset and hyperbole rhetoric to the american public so those who are ignorant enough can get brain washed easily and god forbid end up doing what kind of harm to our evolving society as just recently acts from the twisted views of some extremist on sensitive social issues as abortion, they are flat out the seed of hate just equal or worse as counterpart extremist in some other places around the globe who use religion and power as the bludgeon to impose their agenda.
hey cnn are u ever gonna post my comments or are you scared i am to smart for your target audience for this story/article?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a regular voter and not registered with either party, I look at the Rs and see an extreme right party. They lack diversity in thought, geographical region and race. I look at the Ds and I see the middle. Yes they have some way left, but they have diversity across the board. All of this means that I am more likely to vote with the Ds than the Rs.
Hahahahahaha!!!! And they still think the tide is turning in there favor!
They need NEW leaders, NEW ideas, NEW approaches.
They need to dump these nasty, mean people. They need to abandon the "hate our fellow Americans" approach of calling people "socialists" "terrorist sympathizers" and all the other childish gibberish that has putrified the conservative mindset. They need to stop chumming their base into a frenzy of fear and hatred, stop acting like they are inciting a mob.
Lessee now, Pill-popper Limbaugh, Blow-your-friends-away-while-hunting and War Criminal Cheney, Dump-your-wife-while-she's-in-the-hospital-with-cancer Gingrich and McCain whose daughter Megan makes sense more than all the white, bloated, over-the-hill republican boys. Wow, what a crowd. The republicans wrecked our country's economy, started two unjustified wars, have killed about a million Iraqi's and thousands of US women and men in uniform and now all they do is snivel and whine. You lost. Get over it. Go Away!!!! Far, Far Away!!!!
Someone will emerge in due time. What's funny about this is a poll released yesterday says the majority trusts the GOP with the economy over BHO and his boys. When you can do that without a clear leader, what can you do when you have one? It's really just BO that has propelled them. He's a weak, inexperienced leader with a far left agenda while the majority of Americans are right to center.
Who needs polls?
It is so obvious from talking to those still willing to admit that they are Republicans.
Newt, Dick, Mike H, Mitt, and Mike S are all window dressing and Sarah doesn't even count.
Rush Limbaugh speaks for, and IS, the GOP.
The mantle is yours Rush, now lead your party to victory in '10 and '12.
None of this matters, the republican party simply needs to be the anti-lib party, that's all. Every decent American who works hard, has personal responsibility, has common respect and courtesy for his or her fellow Americans, and values the lives of Americans more than terrorists needs to support and vote republican if we want to continue to be a great nation with all our rights and freedoms.
The reason Colin Powell is not a republican is because he supported a far left radical liberal extremist for president. No republican would ever do such a thing. If the constitution means something to you, if you believe in free speech, if you believe that the nation always comes before partisan hateful politics, than you cannot ever support the current modern day Democratic Obama-lib William Ayers party. JFK and MLK would be republicans if they were alive today, the Democratic Party's values are a direct contradiction to everything these 2 have ever said. I doubt they would condone pouring water on terrorists yet support terrorizing your fellow Americans with your selfishness liberalism displayed clearly in blue states by libs and their actions on the roads and in public each and every day. Get life insurance for your family and then visit a really blue area, see the truth now.
John McCain is an American to be honored and respected. The other three, Limbaugh, Cheney and Gingrich, are more like pompous, petty villians that you used to see in kids cartoons. The only problem, is that some Americans take them seriously.
HAHA....as usual, CNN skewing poll data....1015 people polled? Wow, that really represents the nation. What's really good about this article is the GOP have so many strong conservatives working for it now; and when we look at the DEMS? The party of D'oh? Who's there? Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Dodd, Reid...Emanuel? Gibbs? It's like a comedy routine! 2010 will sound a conservative comeback, and in 2012, after much financial and morality destruction of this country, Obama will go down in history as the worst president ever....
I think the approval numbers are so low because they come across as just petty in their obstruction tactics.
I think most Americans truly believe that the RNC does not have the welfare of Amercians as a priority.
I DONT THINK THE DEMS HAVE ANY GOOD LEADERS EITHER
VOTE THEM ALL OUT
OR
TERM LIMITS
I would be more concerned with the Democrats and how they are handling their control of congress and the white House.
They get all the credit, good or bad, for the next several years.
Let's see if they are up to the challenge. After all, I heard it was the Republicans who got us into this mess.
Now, we can find out which policies, Democrat or Republican, work best for America.
Let's see what happens.
Reagan, Nixon, the Bush dynasty, all are dark spots for the middle class in the USA. Yes, add in some of the Clinton policies, but the GOP and their profit motives, outsourcing, lack of concern for our health, (individual and planetary) and obscuring facts ( hence the war in Iraq, with 5,000 dead americans and how many others?) have led this party into the trash can. Its over for them. Watch them squirm and wiggle.
I dream we can reconstruct the middle class, and above all, keep religion OUT of our government. And Sarah Palin, go back to your family and raise those kids so they don't get pregnant out of marriage while you preach abstinence.. gimme a break
quite frankly, i have alot of friends who are republican, i like them, just dont understand their political ideology, i can understand their confusion when it comes to the leader of their party,,, but quite frankly, i wouldnt want any of them, lindbuagh, gingrich, cheney, mccain, steele, romney, bush or palin, as the party leader of my party. sucks for republicans. their is a racial slur bout chiefs and indians that would be perfect for this situation, but i wont degrade native americans by any comparison to the GOP.
what happened to Sarah Palin?
So, having a multitude of leaders is bad with varying viewpoints is bad?
I find the situation better than following blindly to the whims of 1 person...ala obama. Before him it was Pelosi. Not such a good example, eh?
As a conservative I like certain positions that newt, rush, cheney and even McCain have... I don't like them all, and I don't expect to. It's called 'thinking' ...something the Obots know little about.
It is time for a third party. republicans and democrats are out of touch with the American people.
Oh, and Jon Voight...no wonder his daughter doesn't talk to him...what a creep!
Newt is old news. Rush is really off the beam. Cheney please! Come on guys give us some loyal opposition we can at least tolerate. Moderation and not saying No to everything is the key!
The GOP will be just fine......they really don't need to do anything other than sit back and watch the libs screw up everything with their uncontrollable spending and take overs.....I'm just wondering who Oprah will pick for the next democratic nominee......:o)
Let’s see....Obama is in the automotive manufacturing business and banking business and he wants to run the health care business.....what socialism?
Limbaugh is the leader, that should be the headline. It's actualy kind of scary considering there is no viable opposition right now. Time to give Ron Paul some air time, since he is the only one who is able to bring forth sound arguments that are not racist, xenophobic or paranoid.
Well, When you have people speaking like Cheney, Ginrich, Limbaugh, What would you expect, You have a Liar(Cheney), Druggie(Limaugh), and a Crook (Ginrich) Now that is supposed to be the Norm for Political Office, That what we expected before. Now this Country is in need of real Americans who care about america, So Listen Up People When it comes time to Vote again, Kick all the Liar, Cheats, druggies and incompetent people out That may leave a handful left. Then this country can get on with it life again.
I think they should change everything they ever believed in, including the name of the party. Trust me "CHANGE" is the key word.
Don't forget Palin! She certainly won't let anyone forget her!
