Wright revisits 'them Jews' remark

(CNN) – The Rev. Jeremiah Wright is looking to calm this week's firestorm over remarks termed anti-Semitic by critics, saying Thursday he meant to say "Zionists" instead of "them Jews" when referring to people in Washington who do not want President Obama speaking with him.

"Let me say, like Hillary, I misspoke. Let me just say 'Zionists,'" Wright told SIRIUS radio host Mark Thompson.

Earlier this week, the former Chicago pastor told Virginia newspaper The Daily Press he no longer speaks with Obama - a former congregant of his Trinity United Church - because "Them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me."

"I'm not talking about all Jews, all people of the Jewish faith, I'm talking about Zionists," Wright said Thursday, adding that his comments were in reference to "historical facts."

"I'm not talking about emotionally charged words or the fact that like Jimmy Carter's book, that because he used the word that Jews use, 'apartheid,' he gets labeled anti-Semitic."

"They can jump on that one phrase if they want to, but they can't undo history and the facts of Jewish historians and Jewish theologians who write about what's going on, who write about the enormous influence that AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) has on our government and on United States policy and the United Nations."

The White House declined to comment on Wright's original remarks this week.

Racists do not mispeak. They mean what they mean, then they always have to "clarify" their racist comments.

No one should comment on this idiots remarks. Wright is what's wrong with todays church leaders today, instead of using the pulpit to spread the word of the Lord, he like so many others are using to pulpit to spread all their hate. I'm not saying some church leaders aren't doing what they suppose to do but morons like wright gets media and press time for his ignorance.

I for one am glad President Obama does not keep in touch with him, the President has an agenda and it does not include the evil sayings and teachings of this clown.

Let's throw all the racists from whatever side of the isle they belong to on a barge with just enough fuel to get them out to sea. And if they begin to come close to land, then lets bomb em!

Why can't this Loud Mouth Snook just go away! We already know that he's a Jew Hater, Racist and Bigot. All that hot air confirms he is still all of that. BO will not talk with him and he's clearly angry. It is not the Jewish people doing it. It is YOU Mr Wright with your big fat ugly words coming out of your mouth.

Its a shame that Mr. Wright has to engage in such vitrol discourse, but he has a right to excercise his freedom to speak, and that's my point-he's speaking those words not President Obama. I think rational minded people realize this.

Dear CNN, what's with the Wright story? This man is just as vile as Limbaugh. Think you folks like to 'stir the angst' on the blogs.

There are plenty of crucial issues to discuss, plenty of news to inform us about.

    Matthew 15:18
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.
He said what he meant and meant what he said.
Just who are the Zionists? They are the Jews who believe ALL of Israel is theirs and I agree with that!
Jimmy Carter was wrong as well!

It is pitiful that the reverend feels compelled to make stupid, yet controversal statements for the sake of attention. I don't know if it is ego or mental health, but the man has detached from reality.
