Vice President Biden said Sunday that President Obama has kept up his end of the bargain the two men made about working together in the White House.

(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday that President Barack Obama consults him on all major issues as promised, and that the job is what he hoped it would be.

"There's not a single decision made that he hasn't asked me my view," Biden said on NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

Biden has said he accepted the chance to be vice president on condition that he would be an important consultant and confidante to Obama.

"He's kept his end of the bargain," Biden said of Obama, describing himself as "one of the last people who has the opportunity to make my case to him."

"I think he respects my opinion," the vice president said.

Biden cited a tangible benefit of his role, saying: "I used to react to nominees to the Supreme Court; now I got to help select a Supreme Court nominee," in reference to Obama's nomination of U.S. Appellate Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the high court.

Now we now why things are the mess they are - Biden is Obama's "important consultant and confidante."

Thin is in: I find it funny how you call democrats stupid when you can't even type out a grammatically correct sentence. Your logic is just as ignorant as your grasp of English.

Prediction!!!!!

Joe Biden will not be on the ticket in 2012. He has an over valued opinion of himself. He will be replaced by Hillary Clinton.

Joe is a laughing joke to the White House... just adds more to how stupid the American people has come...

"So he consults with more experienced politicians before making decisions..."

Yes, which is what intelligent people do ... unlike" the decider" who talked to God before invading Iraq ... no record of what God told him.

Notice the anti-President Obama cadre are so limited in their ability that all they do is parrot words and ideas they heard from rush? Tired old phrases that convince no one...

"I think he respects my opinion," – he doesn't sound exactly sure about that. That is like saying, "I think Obama respects the Constitution."

Champly, I'm a producer and an Obama supporter. Kind of blows your ignorant theory of lumping everyone you hate together, doesn't it? Typical. May I suggest you lump us all together as Americans who have much to lose if we don't start caring for each other.

mother and sister of a soldier   June 14th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

Biden the best of minds, please. It doesn't make me feel any safer or confident in our White House. Neither has the experience/exposure to the relavent committees while in Senate and will be dangerous to this country at a very vulnerable time. God help us and may the next president be able to undo the damage these 4 years will create.

Limbaugh is a Liberal   June 14th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

I would ask Joe Biden too for his opinion because I sure could use a laugh once in a while. This guy is almost as bad as Dan Quayle!

Peter E   June 14th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Is that really such a good thing? Obama campaigned during the primaries on making a break with the 'old' democrats and their regressive ideas. Instead, we got Obama who kisses up to old democrats, compromises all his promises away, and is lead around by Nancy Pelosi,. Ted Kennedy, and Harry Reid! He's not a leader!

Ken   June 14th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Biden must think that he is so important and that Obama cannot do anything without his input. I think that Biden will do and say whatever Obama wants him to say!

Both he and Obama are taken us way deeper into debt and it looks that there is no way back.

They are like "Mutt and Jeff"!

Is there a single republican who isn't a bible thumper?
Fear, God, and Fox news seem to go hand in hand. After they throw out the word socialist, you always see something about God. It's hilarious.. Keep watching Hannity and O'reilly, your not being braid-washed by fear at all ;) . The fact is, BUSH and friends created the defecit and screwed the economy, Obama is stuck with it and has to fix it. So, stop blaming Obama for the economy. And yes, he is spending but he's also investing. And Joe Biden obviously has a brain, read his biography.. the man is highly accomplished and has tons of experience, grab a clue republicans.

Candy Wilson   June 14th, 2009 3:15 pm ET

I feel the president's biggest problem is he is way ahead of his time.. And people cannot deal with that... I think his health care proposals are brilliant.. And I worked in health care for 30 yrs....It needs TIME to reverse....I do not agree with government control though either.. But I understand this to be a temporary thing.....In a lot of his decisions..Homeland Security surely hit the nail on the head...There seems to be a tremendous "undertow" also coming from Fox news.. What is this Fox Nation.com? Now That's scary! I feel we can as a country can not get any work done with things like that being pushed....

Steve   June 14th, 2009 3:08 pm ET

So, you right wingers who hate Biden: you preferred the war criminal?

Andi   June 14th, 2009 3:03 pm ET

Can we just quit the anger bit? It's getting REALLY old. If you don't like a decision the President makes or is thinking of making, get in touch with your elected officials and let them know what you think and give them any ideas you have. Quit waiting for them to come up with something if you don't like what's offered. This is America – start acting like it.

A picture tells a thousand words. The commander in chief looks likes an astute, well fed, fully-mained lion while Biden looks like an agry buffalo in heat. Both are to be revered.

I have no respect for Biden, after the weasly, cowardly, and vicious way he acted during the Clarence Thomas hearings. I hope Obama pays little attention to that jerk.

yoyolite   June 14th, 2009 2:40 pm ET

Tim, read carefully, all the stimulus money has not been used. The first STIMULUS signed under Bush was still being spent when Obama took over. ALL of the stimulus spending WAS NOT iniated by the Obama administration. Part of being in the party of old white men is the lost of memory or in your case selective memory. There is enough blame to go around. Obama is trying to find solutions why the repugs are trying to cast stones at glass houses.

I like laughing at all politicians – at my tax paying expense.

I've been following politics a lot of years and never have I seen such hate on both sides. But the biggest hate comes from the Right. The only ones left on the Republican side are extremists. That is why you still see "Republican support" being so high for the likes of Palin, Limbaugh, Colter, and Newt. There's nothing good this administration can do, so it's pointless to argue with them.

Today's GOP is so marginalized, so unimportant to most of the country, that 9 out of 10 comments can be dismissed as fear mongering drivel. Ignore it, people.

@Thin is in... Your recent comment about Obama never working a day in his life, correction.... He taught Constitutional Law, he worked going through Columbia and Harvard University... He did not even take the money that the Government pays the Presidents, wow, and he was assinssated in Dallas TX,
I don't know if you were around for that, but I DON'T WANT THAT AGAIN, nor live through that... some of your comments on these blogs are dangerously close to something that is not pretty or right. A bunch of hatefilled bigots... .

@ Cali. I need to correct you on two things about LBJ, Vietnam started right directly after Korean War, it was the French who were there and when they could not handle it, they called the United States, BEFORE LBJ, but the war did not escalate until 1965 Welfare system was the brain child of FDR who introduced Social Security. It was to help the people to have money during the Great Depression. My mother was born eight months before the stock market crash.

Yes, Biden used to "react to nominees to the Supreme Court" – loudly, sarcastically, inappropriately, and unprofessionally, absolutely reveling in that position of asymmetric power that a hearing affords to those on the inquisitors' side of the table.

Harley is correct. To the Enlightened Voter, we are on the way to dictatorship. We did not have a dictatorship for the last eight years. Also, I'm getting really tired of libs telling Repubs to accept the fact that Obama is president and get over it. All I heard from Dems from 2000 to 2004 was how my side "stole the election". All I heard from Dems from 2004 to 2008 is "we were swiftboated, was swiftboated". It looks like the Dems have a hard time accepting things and moving on. We Repubs will live to fight another day and will defeat Odumba the next time. I am sure that the United States will make it through Jimmy Carter's second term. Don't let them get you down Harley.

Father Coughlin, very well said. I've also had the opportunity to live and work in other countries, as well as teach many Muslim students. I strongly agree that we have far more to fear from within than without. The Bush administration during the past 8 years, and in particular Cheney now, in my opinion continues to increase the threat of outside terrorism from without, and "news" outlets such as Fox, Rush, Hannity, etc. continue to threaten us from within. In my opinion, they are far more dangerous in the long run.

David Evan   June 14th, 2009 1:48 pm ET

The only advise he receives from Obama is to keep his big trap shut. Biden has stuck his foot in his mouth so many times it out numbers the deficit numbers the good old USA is in now from all that reckless spending that the liberals run through congress without even reading the legislation. It is also time that the liberals come up with another

spongebob – the issues here are not really party issues, they are issues between the producers and the consumers. Those of us who produce would like to keep much of what we produce. And we don't want the Federals controlling every phase of our life. The consumers here are wanting other people to pay for their food, clothing, healthcare, autos, entertainment, etc. That is the riff. That is the divide.

Obamists are the consumers. Those who oppose Obamism are the producers. Now that the consumers apparenlty outnumber the producers the economy and society collapses, as it is now doing.

Everyone guessed wrong? I think Biden meant everyone in his administration guessed wrong. Now the country is in an extra 600Billion dollar deficit and the economy is worse off.
All of you who supported the stimulus bill with all your might…here are the results. This country is just starting to see the effects of a useless administration. You reap what you sow."

Obviously, like skeptics anywhere else, in politics, they view everyone, including the Prez. and Veep, with satellite eyes with magnifyin' lenses. BHO and JB may have to do a lot more covincin' in order to draw trustin', rather than adorin' , and sycophantic crowds towards themselves, so they can do their jobs with some semblance of sanity, sensibility, and, last but not least, with credibility.

Father Coughlin   June 14th, 2009 12:56 pm ET

This is as it should be. Those who comment that the GOP and others who cry "socialism" haven't a clue about what the true definition of the term is are on target. Seas of red ink under GOP administrations were justified as "trickle down" economics. What that means is the top five percent got most of the benefits and the rest of us got "trickle down" like a puppy relieving itself on our legs.

I've been fortunate enough to see more than a score of countries been inside a couple Mosques, Synagogues and what have you. I do not have nearly as much fear of our way of life being destroyed from the outside as from the inside. Go back through our history and it's obvious the biggest threat has come from the right. From "Know Nothings" to the "KKK", "McCarthyism", "Watergate", "Iran Contra" and the ultimate big lie of "WMD's" in Iraq, it's not a pretty picture. However, if you're Rupert Murdoch, you've got to be pleased that if ignorance is indeed bliss, then we have enough happy people in this country to make the Fox Network extremely profitable even if it's only "fair and balanced" to the right wing.

Joe Biden's' not perfect, but he's one large improvement over the last fellow who hung out in the basement and then started spouting only after his term ended.

ThinkAboutIt   June 14th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

To Harley and everyone else you hasn't bothered to crack a dictionary:

Socialism advocates collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods; where there's no private property; where the means of production are owned and controlled by the state; where there is unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.

President Obama has never proposed this. If this is how you’re interpreting his policies, then you are probably letting Rush Limbaugh and the folks at Fox News do your thinking for you. Don’t forget, those are the folks who want our country to fail, to further their own political agenda (which, by the way, doesn’t include you, unless you’re on of the wealthy elite).

Chris   June 14th, 2009 12:45 pm ET

I am as concerned about the fiscal situation as any other american but what drives me nutters is that fact that while Cheney was in power, deficits didn't matter (per his own statements) and GOP'ers agreed. Now that Obama is in charge, the deficits are our worst enemies. Do I need to remind you that by far the biggest part of the deficit was inherited from the Cheney administration and not created by the Obama administration??

And for those of you who believes the US is on the path towards socialism – you have no f'ing clue. Most of you have barely been across the borders to the state next door, so open your horizons, travel and live abroad and then come back and tell me you know what socialism is. Go visit, for instance, Norway and see the horrible lives they have there. Oh my, oh my how they suffer in Norway. Now that is socialism to you. Geeh, get a grip

Proud American   June 14th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

Republicans are susch Moron's... Thank God the Idiot Palin was sent back to Alaska. Even if someone consulted or as her a question about national security she couldn't answer.

Chipster   June 14th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

Champly,
You're a little confused. The crimes and constitutional violations were committed by the last administration, as was the economic insanity that left us in the mess we're in.

Suddenly, Republicans are concerned about the deficit that they ignored for the past 8 years. President Obama isn't hiding real costs in supplemental spending bills. He's putting them out there, including the cost of two wars, for all of us to be aware of just how deep the hole is.

oregon thinker   June 14th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

It is SO refreshing to have an intelligent team in the White House!

George Washington   June 14th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

great job Biden. but does that mean Obama actually hears anything you say ?

Ambrose Smith, Borrego Springs, California   June 14th, 2009 12:30 pm ET

Everyone knows Cheney pulled the strings and George was the puppet.

Why do you think Cheney is doing all of the talking while Bush is quiet.

Cheney knows what went on. Bush was the puppet.

Obama is not a yes man to Biden. He is the boss. Unlike Bush.

SSG Alvidrez   June 14th, 2009 12:29 pm ET

As an American soilder, I am proud on how my commander in chief has been a leader. What can you say Republicans are Republicans....lol..I truly belive that neo-cons do not know what is the defination of SOCIALISM!!! Forcing Religous Belifes onto the country is socialism. ThinkAboutIt   June 14th, 2009 12:25 pm ET

A blanket comment to everyone who posts here who wants President Obama to fail (which is the subtext of everything you write): By wanting our President to fail, you want our country to fail. You are putting your own selfish political agenda ahead of your country. As long as you've got yours, to hell with everyone else. Sounds treasonous to me.

Pathetic!

Champly   June 14th, 2009 12:25 pm ET

Yeah sniffit – do as your are told. Keep your opinions to yourself and go back to work so you can earn money for Obama to spend as we darn well chooses. How dare you question the Obama !! How dare you cast a shadow on VP Plugs !!

ThinkAboutIt   June 14th, 2009 12:21 pm ET

Biden has a loose mouth at times, but he is an intelligent, experienced man who truly has the best interest of our country in mind and in his heart. Both he and President Obama are big enough people to accept that putting the best minds to work on a problem goes a very long way in coming up with the best solution.

Keep up the good work, Barack and Joe!

mk   June 14th, 2009 12:21 pm ET

Joe Biden is a regular guy, foot in his mouth and all. I respect his opinion because I think it comes form a place of knowing what a regular persons values and belief are. He knows our struggles and has a powerful voice in defending our needs. What is not to respect about that?

Finally a REAL Presidency   June 14th, 2009 12:20 pm ET

I am PROUD as a former U.S.Marine to have (after 8 years of unimaginably poor leadership) to have a great President AND Vice President in the White House. America is back on track and there is nothing the "other" party can do to stop us from rebuilding our great nation. I truly feel that those with an opposite view of this government are full of it and they just want to hear themselves speak.

RUForReal   June 14th, 2009 12:20 pm ET

I think Republicans should be insulted at the way they get played like they're the subject of a Pavlovian experiment. A GOP strategist simply substitutes "fascism" for "socialism" because "socialism" isn't generating the vitriolic response that it once did - never mind the fact that "fascism" is on the opposite (far right) end of the ideological spectrum and thus is completely different. How does it feel to have leaders whose big idea is to push your buttons all day to keep you hysterical and unable to think for yourselves?

Champly   June 14th, 2009 12:18 pm ET

Ah yes...partners in crime.

Poker Guy   June 14th, 2009 12:18 pm ET

Good old Joe. He reminds me of a nutty uncle. Obama picked him to be VP for only one reason. It was the right thing to do at the time to get elected. I'm just glad the media is starting to look at Obama in a more critical way. The rock star appeal seems to be wearing off and people are starting to think rational again.

Tim   June 14th, 2009 12:17 pm ET

Biden appears on "Meet The Press" and says that the Stimulus bill did not help the economy. In fact, the economy got worse since the stimulus bill. Biden response to this was "everyone guessed wrong."
Everyone guessed wrong? I think Biden meant everyone in his administration guessed wrong. Now the country is in an extra 600Billion dollar deficit and the economy is worse off.
All of you who supported the stimulus bill with all your might...here are the results. This country is just starting to see the effects of a useless administration. You reap what you sow.

ejpdx   June 14th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

The longer the Republicans take to get their party back from the grips of Rush_Sarah_Newt, and into something in the reality realm, the better for us bleeding heart liberals. Eventually, I imagine the pendulum will swing back towards the middle, but it will be a NEW middle... LEFT of where it's been. AMEN!

FORMER republican, NEVER again!   June 14th, 2009 12:09 pm ET

Do you republicans even know what socialism is? Obviously not listening to some of these posts. Do your self a favor stop listening to people like rush, coulter, hannity and do your own research if you dare. These people are only trying to make money off of gullible people like you. They got rich from being negative. President Obama is without a doubt the BEST thing that has happened to this country in a long time. He is tackling problems that the republicans ignored for the last 8 years. Even if the President gets nothing accomplished I give him an A for effort. By the way alot of you just need to accept the fact that he's black and then look at him through objective eyes. Give the man a chance! (I am white by the way)

Would all you Biden haters feel better if Biden had secret meetings, maybe go out and shoot somebody in the face wit a shotgun. We still don't know who was at the energy meeting of Cheney's in early 2001. I feel we are paying the high price of gas because of this meeting.

re: Sniffit June 14th, 2009 11:09 am ET
"...to think your type usually complained that Bush consulted Cheney Vader too much!"

Sniffet...It wasn't really that we thought Bush consulted Cheney too much! It was more like Cheney didn't consult Bush enough...and why would he really? It would have been like the puppeteer asking the puppet if it was okay to pull a certain string or put certain words in his mouth.

I can't help but wonder if Bush would have been a better president and the nation as a whole would not have been so degraded if someone less power hungry and nasty-tempered than Cheney had been the Vice. Bush should forever blame Cheney for the awful way history will most certainly regard his presidency.

IOn the other hand, 'm so glad Biden is in the VP's office. He's a foreign policy whiz and seems to be as fair-and-open minded as Obama. He's so very much better than the guy who preceeded him! And Holy Cow! Biden's a world better than Palin would have been or could ever hope to be!

Mike O'Brien   June 14th, 2009 11:57 am ET

Joe.., you have been around for a long time. Even I would seek your advice.., especially on foreign country issues. Mike in Montana

Joe the carpenter   June 14th, 2009 11:55 am ET

The thing is, is that Pres. Obama ALSO invites input from opposing viewpoints, i.e. the republicans. Asking advice from your right hand man is easy, asking the "opposition" is less so, and he does ask the "opposition" the problem is the "opposition" want to remain so. Pres. Obama is a rational thinker, humble and a pragmatist, MAN WHAT A CHANGE.

DaBird   June 14th, 2009 11:55 am ET

He has lied to America about 100 days though. 100% of everyone's taxes are going up. Cell phone tax, soda and beer tax, gas tax, health care tax, climate tax. Obama and Rahm are taxing us from the back door. WAKE UP AMERICA. My health care tax will be $1,800 for our middle income family.

P. Y.   June 14th, 2009 11:54 am ET

@ observer

It is only a handful of screwballs who keep blogging under different names. They want to make people think that there are a lot of them out there. They are racists, Limbaugh freaks and just plain nuts. I doubt that most of them ever even pay taxes. Their whole world revolves around trying to scare people and make themselves sound important. Some people are just too stupid to even own computers.

Larry S   June 14th, 2009 11:50 am ET

Some of these comments keep it a proven fact there are a lot of ignorant people responding to these articles. The comments about support for BO and his 'greatness' are so far off base . . . of course, Biden is the one thing that does help BO look better . . . and BO needs all the help he can get.

Glennis   June 14th, 2009 11:49 am ET

Doesn't say much for Obama's judgement that he selected Biden as a running mate, and says even less if he actually listens to what he says.

yoyolite   June 14th, 2009 11:46 am ET

Harley, take a deep breath. The term SOCIALIST is so over played. When Palin ask for money from the government to build a pipeline in Alaska isn't that socialism . It looks as though the repugs only cry socialism on selected issue. Medicaid , medicare, and social security = SOCIALISM! Research your talking points before labeling.

Jim   June 14th, 2009 11:46 am ET

Certainly hope that in about 8 years, Biden will be President. At the present, we have a "super team", Obama and Biden!!!! But no matter how "super" a person might be, the mess left by Bush and his crime family will take a long time to "clean up"

Enlightened Voter   June 14th, 2009 11:46 am ET

Harley – I'll take a so called 'socialist' (if that's what you want to lie and call it) state over the dictatorship we had for the last 8 years any day. You repubs don't even know what real socialism is or you wouldn't even say that, you just get your talking points from lush limpaugh, hannity and beck. How sad.

Dan Quayle II   June 14th, 2009 11:43 am ET

Biden is a buffoon! If Obama respects his opinion, then he's the only one. Biden is the worst VP since Dan Quayle.

OBSERVER   June 14th, 2009 11:38 am ET

I read these postings and see some thoughtful input and that is good, but then I see those that only call names and issue hate that is swad. If you do not agree with a person or a policy explain what you think should or could be done that is better. If the only problem is that you are white and Obama is black you have ony proven you are the problem.

Jane   June 14th, 2009 11:38 am ET

Biden always puts his foot in his mouth. I really would cherish his opinion. Yikes.

Just saying it – any of it - doesn't make it so. It's going to take a lot more than hateful blogging and random labeling to dislodge this administration if it is (gasp!) successful in its efforts to heal the country and put it on the right path. The right wing needs to let a little light and air into its echo chamber (around which uninformed terms like "socialist" bounce with abandon) if it wants to have any hope of being relevant again.

Nobles III P   June 14th, 2009 11:31 am ET

Presiedent Obama continues to 'break the old presidential mold' with proactive actions such as this. It's not about ego–it'a about surrounding your self with the smartest and brightest people available to make well-informed decisions.
Joe Biden has a brilliant political mind and valuable experience in Washington politics–a valuable asset to the President and this country in a most critical time.

Shirley in Virginia   June 14th, 2009 11:29 am ET

At last, we have a president who is a strong capable leader and is not afraid to consult with his equally strong capable vice president. They give us that are struggling financially hope that things will get better eventually.

Patience is a virtue. Read my lips: We didn't put our country in the hole its in. We do have a plan to get us out which includes investing in our country via Health Care, Education, and Energy which are key areas that need reforming and in the long run will be beneficial to all of us whether you believe it or not.

New Age Democrat   June 14th, 2009 11:26 am ET

I didn't vote for Biden in the primaries because he's a loon. Obama asking him to be his running mate was his single worst decision to me. Biden is a joke. Why some Democrats continue to support him is beyond me.
