Biden: Obama has kept his word on consulting vice president

Vice President Biden said Sunday that President Obama has kept up his end of the bargain the two men made about working together in the White House.
Vice President Biden said Sunday that President Obama has kept up his end of the bargain the two men made about working together in the White House.

(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday that President Barack Obama consults him on all major issues as promised, and that the job is what he hoped it would be.

"There's not a single decision made that he hasn't asked me my view," Biden said on NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

Biden has said he accepted the chance to be vice president on condition that he would be an important consultant and confidante to Obama.

"He's kept his end of the bargain," Biden said of Obama, describing himself as "one of the last people who has the opportunity to make my case to him."

"I think he respects my opinion," the vice president said.

Biden cited a tangible benefit of his role, saying: "I used to react to nominees to the Supreme Court; now I got to help select a Supreme Court nominee," in reference to Obama's nomination of U.S. Appellate Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the high court.

Everyone knows Cheney pulled the strings and George was the puppet.

Why do you think Cheney is doing all of the talking while Bush is quiet.

Cheney knows what went on. Bush was the puppet.

Obama is not a yes man to Biden. He is the boss. Unlike Bush.

    Champly,
You're a little confused. The crimes and constitutional violations were committed by the last administration, as was the economic insanity that left us in the mess we're in.

Suddenly, Republicans are concerned about the deficit that they ignored for the past 8 years. President Obama isn't hiding real costs in supplemental spending bills. He's putting them out there, including the cost of two wars, for all of us to be aware of just how deep the hole is.

Republicans are susch Moron's... Thank God the Idiot Palin was sent back to Alaska. Even if someone consulted or as her a question about national security she couldn't answer.

I am as concerned about the fiscal situation as any other american but what drives me nutters is that fact that while Cheney was in power, deficits didn't matter (per his own statements) and GOP'ers agreed. Now that Obama is in charge, the deficits are our worst enemies. Do I need to remind you that by far the biggest part of the deficit was inherited from the Cheney administration and not created by the Obama administration??

And for those of you who believes the US is on the path towards socialism – you have no f'ing clue. Most of you have barely been across the borders to the state next door, so open your horizons, travel and live abroad and then come back and tell me you know what socialism is. Go visit, for instance, Norway and see the horrible lives they have there. Oh my, oh my how they suffer in Norway. Now that is socialism to you. Geeh, get a grip

To Harley and everyone else you hasn't bothered to crack a dictionary:

Socialism advocates collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods; where there's no private property; where the means of production are owned and controlled by the state; where there is unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.

President Obama has never proposed this. If this is how you’re interpreting his policies, then you are probably letting Rush Limbaugh and the folks at Fox News do your thinking for you. Don’t forget, those are the folks who want our country to fail, to further their own political agenda (which, by the way, doesn’t include you, unless you’re on of the wealthy elite).

This is as it should be. Those who comment that the GOP and others who cry "socialism" haven't a clue about what the true definition of the term is are on target. Seas of red ink under GOP administrations were justified as "trickle down" economics. What that means is the top five percent got most of the benefits and the rest of us got "trickle down" like a puppy relieving itself on our legs.

I've been fortunate enough to see more than a score of countries been inside a couple Mosques, Synagogues and what have you. I do not have nearly as much fear of our way of life being destroyed from the outside as from the inside. Go back through our history and it's obvious the biggest threat has come from the right. From "Know Nothings" to the "KKK", "McCarthyism", "Watergate", "Iran Contra" and the ultimate big lie of "WMD's" in Iraq, it's not a pretty picture. However, if you're Rupert Murdoch, you've got to be pleased that if ignorance is indeed bliss, then we have enough happy people in this country to make the Fox Network extremely profitable even if it's only "fair and balanced" to the right wing.

Joe Biden's' not perfect, but he's one large improvement over the last fellow who hung out in the basement and then started spouting only after his term ended.

Obviously, like skeptics anywhere else, in politics, they view everyone, including the Prez. and Veep, with satellite eyes with magnifyin' lenses. BHO and JB may have to do a lot more covincin' in order to draw trustin', rather than adorin' , and sycophantic crowds towards themselves, so they can do their jobs with some semblance of sanity, sensibility, and, last but not least, with credibility.

Somehow I sense a great division among parties on this post and less concern with the country's real issues we are facing as a nation together.
Fact: Admit it, both parties have done well, both parties have made mistakes. Let's educate ourselves and rise above our division we owe that much to our country. Be led by no one, education empowers us not parties.

Joe Biden is doing a great job.I see the rightwing extremists and paid street teamers are working today. Its the same two or three people, using a number of names, spewing the same venom they use everyday of the week.I laugh at them now.

So he consults with more experienced politicians before making decisions.

Good, I would expect no less from a single term senator who has been thrown in over his head.

Tim said: "Biden appears on "Meet The Press" and says that the Stimulus bill did not help the economy. In fact, the economy got worse since the stimulus bill. Biden response to this was "everyone guessed wrong."
Everyone guessed wrong? I think Biden meant everyone in his administration guessed wrong. Now the country is in an extra 600Billion dollar deficit and the economy is worse off.
All of you who supported the stimulus bill with all your might…here are the results. This country is just starting to see the effects of a useless administration. You reap what you sow."

Yes - I see all the devastating effects - jobless claims actually starting to drop, the DOW higher than it's been since...ahem...Limbaugh's party was in power, housing starting to bottom out...banks actually BEGGING to please give BILLIONS BACK so they don't have to be controlled like any good Venture Capitalist who invests in any company does...

    It's awful.

Oh - and the growing respect around the world and return to honesty from our government.

    They're all so AWFUL.

Get over it. YOU LOST. YOUR PARTY screwed the nation and lost millions of voters and now, for once, you are the minority.

Get used to it or get lost.

Obama is not a Socialist, he is a Communist and Biden is a fool. This country is in grave danger from these third world people. I want my America back and in 3 and a half years I will get it. This is a one term team.

They are one of the same far left !!!! They are also SOCIALIST that is why they will be ONE term !!! THANK GOD

You sound like you don't even really comprehend what Socialism is. More so, you sound like one who would otherwise benefit from some 'socialist' programs; i.e. education grants so you can better yourself intellectually, because spewing one -liners with ‘big words’ doesn’t fool anyone. Have you ever travelled? Do you have a passport? You’ve probably never left the highway exit of your trailer park.

Harley, the GOP doesn't care about poor white trash. They just want your vote before they'll flush you down the sewer. 'Country First' doesn't include you. Don't you get that?

Biden may be a gaffe machine, but he seems like an honest person, who is dedicated to his family, just like President Obama. I am baffled when it's suggested that the President needed someone to get the "white" vote. His first win in the primaries was Iowa, which is 94.4% white according to the US Census Bureau!

Chipster – I can see by your post you were educated in a public school. To gain knowledge one must read everything one can put their hands on and not be limited by what you are told to read by a government teacher. If you had educated yourself, read a little history, and looked about the world you would not have given your soul to Barry Obama.
