Racist e-mail aimed at Obama raises hackles in Tennessee

(CNN) – The chairman of Tennessee's Democratic Party wants a Republican legislative aide fired for sending out a "reprehensible" e-mail depicting President Obama as two cartoonish white eyes peering from a black background.

Obama's image is in the last square of a collage containing portraits of the previous 43 U.S. presidents. Copies of the e-mail were posted on the Internet Monday.

Sherri Goforth, an administrative assistant to state Sen. Diane Black, R-Gallatin, has admitted she sent the e-mail May 28 with the title "Historical Keepsake Photo." She said, without elaborating, that she mistakenly sent it "to the wrong list of people."

According to the Tennessean, a Nashville newspaper, a note on the e-mail said it was paid for by the Tennessee Republican Party, but GOP officials denied that they produced it. Black chairs the Senate Republican Caucus.

Here's the thing: If you don't know by now that you should have a toy email address that you NEVER EVER use for work, then you are only qualified to work at Crayola eating crayons to test toxicity.

It says a lot about the party of hateful right wing nuts who continue to cross the line to promote this type of racial humor from the 1930's.

Does this mean that racists and racism still inhabit Repugs ranks and files?

I am shocked! Nominate Palin and Lim-burger for 2012 and you would have the tripartite of ignorance: ignorance, ignorance, and ignorance!

Sherri, suppose you fill us all in on what is, and who is on the "right list"?
When will you people in the South realize the Civil War ended 144 years ago, and the score is still the same!?
Or is this just another expose of and an example of what "some" Republican insiders still really think of African Americans?
So tell us Sherri, what is the "right list"?

Why is this such a shocker. The republican party has always been the party of racists. That's why it is so ironic when African Americans are appointed to positions in republican administrations or any GOP positions. It is to let Americans know that the republican party is all inclusive. To get votes they will be all inclusive. In a disaster like Hurrican Katrina? Enough said.

No matter what little or big lies can be told to try and make this seem like people of the republican Party do not love or excuse racist behavior, people with clear minds see the evil that exist in the republican environment. It doesn't matter though because Obama Won.

Well, just goes to show, liberals can't take a joke unless it is them saying it.

I thought it was funny and good taste.. But then again, I am stronger and have more of a backbone than liberal wimps.

Another anecdote for my upcoming book on political correctness in America, the advent of thought crimes and thought police in academia and government, and how corporations, public figures, and ordinary americans can protect themselves from censure, sanction, and prosecution for harboring undesireable ideas.

Once I outline my comprehensive methods for avoiding racially-tinged appearances, and the prosecutions that will soon attend to such events (note the calls for the sender to be fired), hopefully emails like this one will be a thing of the past.

It is interesting that many "whispered" about racist ideas, jokes, etc. are being exposed. I'm glad these things are being brought into the light. It is all nonsense anyway. Once again, someone in the GOP in the forefront of the story.

I am not suprised. After all, the rethuglicans base is mostly racist. Everyone knows that but they don't talk about it like the policy "Don't Ask Don't Tell" If anybody doesn't know that then they are naive.
