(CNN) – Brushing off suggestions Tuesday the media is not critical enough of his administration, President Obama couldn't help but take aim at one cable news channel in particular.
"It's very hard for me to swallow that one," Obama told CNBC when asked whether he thinks the media is too easy on him. "First of all, I've got one television station entirely devoted to attacking my administration."
The interviewer quickly assumed Obama was referring to Fox News, a suggestion the president didn't disagree with.
"Well, that's a pretty big megaphone," he said. "And you'd be hard-pressed, if you watched the entire day, to find a positive story about me on that front."
"We welcome people who are asking us some, you know, tough questions," he continued. "And I think that I've been probably as accessible as any president in the first six months–press conferences, taking questions from reporters, being held accountable, being transparent about what it is that we're trying to do. I think that, actually, the reason that people have been generally positive about what we've tried to do is they feel as if I'm available and willing to answer questions, and we haven't been trying to hide them all. "
Obama struck a similar tone on the matter last month in his appearance before the White House Correspondents Dinner, during which he joked to the crowd, "Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me, apologies to the Fox table."

You know I've always found it odd when they call it the "liberal media". I mean you've got Fox News over on the right all by themselves and the rest of the news organizations grouped together (sometimes liberal (especially MSNBC with Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow even though I would have to say they are more moderate the folks over at Fox News who are just flat out up against the right wall conservative), but overall agreeing with the majority of the country and therefore more moderate and mainstream).
Honestly Mr. President if you are complaining about just ONE news channel being critical of you, what do you think President Bush should have said about ALL news channels being critical!
I've never had much use for Faux News either, other than for a laugh, they are a Republican press board of sorts. Faux has never had much in the way of real journalists, just a bunch of right wing clowns-Hannity, O'Reilly, etc... who's sole job is to push the far right agenda to the mindless folks-their regular viewers, who prefer for someone to do the job of thinking for them.
Big deal. ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN and MSNBC vs. FOX. If Obama can't take a little heat from the vastly outnumbered opposition, he shouldn't be President. He shouldn't have felt compelled to take sides; all of our Presidents, regardless of party, need to have the "heat" applied to help keep them honest.
I now invite brainwashed Obama fanatics to respond, as I know you will.
of course.. and CNN is loving it.. but seriously.. CNN sugarcoats anything that a liberal does and slams the Republicans... and Fox is the opposite.... it's been that way for a while.....
Unfortunatly for America the liberal view of here is your free handout wins votes.. because America is lazy....
Wah, quit crying you baby! Fox News doesn't like me. As much flack the media gave Bush, he never once complained. At least he had a backbone, not a stick up his.... Good luck trying to balance that budget Barry, moron can't even balance his own checkbook!
Thank goodness for checks and balances, Obama's theme. Does he think that everyone agrees with him? We listened to all the horror warnings about GM and Chrysler; the nation would crumble if they had to file. Well, they are filing and all we did is give billions to the unions retirement/health programs. The billions did zero to advance the company. We just gave them "float" money.
That is b/c Fox news is the ONLY news organization not being paid off by the Obama administration.
Mr President, sorry that FOX News is critical of you. someone has to be since all the other networks have taken a sip of the Kool Aid that you want everyone to drink. When you look at MSNBC and other networks, they still think George Bush is President since all they do is slam him and the administration. MSNBC has tried to make you a god and can never be critical of you. Some one has to balance the news and FOX is the only one. Thank god for freedom of the press.
What a surprise that FOX network is that way. Perhaps we should revive the 'equal time' law that scrapped a few years ago...
How about answering some questions from Fox News, Mr. President, if you're so accessible?
Fix news and MSNBC are both biased.
With NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc all fawning over the Obama administration think God one network is doing some critical reporting.
since when does a mature leader of the free world attack the free press.
something is wrong, either the press is not free, or the leader is not mature, or both.
you wanted a leader to resore our "standing in the world" you wanted a leader that did not act like a "cowboy". you just traded in a "western cowboy" for an "urban cowboy" or worse....
how completly pathetic we look, and most of you have no idea how the dicators of the world are laughing at us.
The most outrageous statement yet by obama, the absolute biased and corrupt reporting of cnn and nbc are far beyond anything Fox has ever done, liberals are the most arrogant people on the planet.
I love President Obama.
Well, he isn't saying anything we don't already know.
Obama is the biggest spinster, weasel there is. He does not take a stand on the Iran problem, does not do anything about N. Korea, and now is blaming Fox news for bad coverage, grow a pair and be a man. Someone needs to tell him to not worry so much about his popularity, but about governing this country.
Ouch!! Obviously touched a nerve.
Yea he is right, he is on the air SO MUCH he should have his own reality show. Glad we have a President that just LOVES to be on TV.
Wonder what he does with the rest of the day... Oh wait he is working right? LOL LOL
This CLOWN is nothing more than a puppet for the liberal group in this country, he hides in the closet makes calls to his prompters to find out what he is supposed to say and do each day.
He probably has NO CHANCE at re-election right now because in 6 months he has become a laugh through out the world.
Obama has NO CLASS whatsoever. If he is already crying a river now, just think when everyone sees him for who he is - a corrupt Illinois politician.
Well at least he is feeling what President Bush went through. No fun I'm sure.
Hang in there Mr. President.....god will continue to guide your path!
Everybody knows Fox isn't news, its a Republican opinion channel. Theres a great documentary and interviews with people who have worked for Fox called 'Outfoxed' that's online, it really gives you insight into how that station really is operated.
So he admits that he has every single news outlet in his pocket except one. '"Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me" and he is complaining because one chooses to be critical? Give me a break.
