Obama takes aim at Fox News

Obama says Fox News is 'entirely devoted' to attacking his administration.
Obama says Fox News is 'entirely devoted' to attacking his administration.

(CNN) – Brushing off suggestions Tuesday the media is not critical enough of his administration, President Obama couldn't help but take aim at one cable news channel in particular.

"It's very hard for me to swallow that one," Obama told CNBC when asked whether he thinks the media is too easy on him. "First of all, I've got one television station entirely devoted to attacking my administration."

The interviewer quickly assumed Obama was referring to Fox News, a suggestion the president didn't disagree with.

"Well, that's a pretty big megaphone," he said. "And you'd be hard-pressed, if you watched the entire day, to find a positive story about me on that front."

"We welcome people who are asking us some, you know, tough questions," he continued. "And I think that I've been probably as accessible as any president in the first six months–press conferences, taking questions from reporters, being held accountable, being transparent about what it is that we're trying to do. I think that, actually, the reason that people have been generally positive about what we've tried to do is they feel as if I'm available and willing to answer questions, and we haven't been trying to hide them all. "

Obama struck a similar tone on the matter last month in his appearance before the White House Correspondents Dinner, during which he joked to the crowd, "Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me, apologies to the Fox table."

This is the network that's turned the phrase "fair and balanced" into a laugh line.

Fox News (False news) is a racist network which condones violence. Some of their so-called journalists (clowns like BillO' or Beck or Hannity) are even borderline domestic terrorists. In my opinion they are responsible for Dr. Tiller's death and for the shooting in DC and the canard about President Obama's birth certificate.

FOX Noise News is the Anti-Christ of democracy. They never got the memo that said slavery is over. They never got the memo that said the rule by the few and powerful is over. Keep it up FOZ News. You are the reason so many Americans voted for Obama and Biden. Nobody with any intelligence and education takes you seriously. You are nothing more than a soap box rag-tag microphone stand.

Fox unfortunately is the only one that will give a differing opinion or do an investigative journalism into Obama or his policies. All the rest are just an extension of the White House press office.

Fox News is an absolute travesty- nothing but pure right-wing propoganda.

This is a desparate time in American history. All major news media needs to get behind this president and this congress. Fox distracts our leaders and weakens the will of the people to make necessary sacrifices for the common good. Thank you CNN for presenting the truth!

Hannity has it right, the news isn't supposed to give you feel good stories, they are supposed to report the news. Congrats FOX for being the most watched news source.

I guess "the chosen one" only wants people to hear from the liberal main stream media so he can put his marxist views forth with no one questioning what he does. This sounds just like the news in Russia and China...no opposition.

Sorry Barry, that's not how it works here in the USA.

I am so glad he came out and admitted the truth about faux news. I think every intelligent rational thinking person knows that they LIE continuously on the President and attack him every chance they get. They don't know how to say anything positive about our President because they are the station of hate. Fortunately those who have intelligence watch other news outlets like MSNBC or CNN.

At least FOX News is the best because they tell what really is happening with our Government! – Obama's programs and spending are outrageous – the Democratic Party and their policies will ruin us forever – and at least FOX does not bend like the rest of the Leftist Socialist media GO FOX!! and continue to make CNN fall in the ratings as they are doing now.

Attacking? Please. Heaven forbid someone try to shake the American people awake with the truth!!! He needs to get over himself and the Obamaites need to wake up before it's too late!

The ratings for Fox are heading in the same direction as the whole Republican party - DOWN.

Face it guys, bigotry and race-baiting just don't sell like they used to. You should try another method, like maybe the truth. Wait, maybe you shouldn't since the TRUTH about your party and Fox "news" is darker than anything you can create about Obama.

Fox News is a disgrace. Hannity needs taking off the air and O'Reily too. The rest are not quite as disagreeable. But these two are mean, and work to incite, not inform. I believe in freedom of speech, but these two are over the top. Hannity was yelling the president needs to be impeached, and I just ask "on what grounds?"

Fox News is a disgrace and is warping the feeble minded even worse.
They lie about everything , and just try to disagree with O'Reilley, and he shuts off your microphone. Only sick miserable people watch Fox News.

Obama keep blaming the previous administration for things that are not going right for him. Maybe, he should just shut up.

I'm very glad pres Obama brought up Fox News, the most unfair and unbalanced reporting I've known. If only they were that critical of George W. Bush and Cheney, maybe the country would have been much better off to start with, and we wouldn't have to deal with all this mess we have now.

    Interesting.
An independant study showed that Obama received far more coverage than McCain during the presidential campaign and this coverage came from NBC and CNN and ABC and CBS, and this slanted coverage for the left (Democrats) continues. So, when you have media that is so lopsided, it seems only fair and balanced that the right have a representative to try and bring it back to center. Unfortunately, when there are so many voiceds representing the left, it is not possible.

Great job CNN, I thought we could leave the mud-slinging to the politicians. Maybe this is why Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN Headline News are destroying you in the ratings/

I love how this character can attack and critize anybody he wants to get into office, but can't stand critical commentary about his own administration. If you can't stand the heat.....

Fox news is trash!!! They should be considered more of an entertainment channel, more so than a news channel. Their tactics is to tilt the news to appeal to one segment of society, the disenfranchised white bigoted male, who is now desperate that the "colored" people are taking over their posts....
