German chancellor to meet with Obama next week

WASHINGTON (CNN) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet with President Barack Obama at the White House next week, Obama's spokesman announced Thursday.

A White House statement said the June 26 meeting would focus on "a broad agenda of global issues of mutual concern," but provided no details.

"The United States and Germany, a NATO ally, enjoy long-standing and strong bilateral relations, and partner together around the world to promote peace, prosperity and democratic freedoms," it said.

Perhaps there is more to this visit than what might have been discussed between them a few days ago.

I can't really blame her, I'll want to see/talk/be with President Obama as often as I can too.

  5. Welcome Chancellor

    Gutentag:

Any chance we can meet with the Germans is good foreign policy. Angela seems pretty stand-up to me, and she probably welcomes any US president who doesn't try to give her a back massage, like George-what-were-we-thinking-Bush.

Welcome Angela, hope you and President Obama can reach a mutual agreement on global issues.

Germany didn't support our invasion of Iraq and probably still don't agree. Meeting with the Chancellor of Germany is vitally important regardless of how often these meetings take place. GET YOUR FACTS BEFORE MAKING STUPID STATEMENTS.

You Obama Haters are truly laughable.

George W. Bush got a shoe thrown at him, people rioted everywhere this fool went. Geez, if that's your role model, I guess it explains the ignorance in your attacks.

Geeez, you would think you Obama haters really need to come up with a better attack and complaints. You're starting to sound like a broken record.

    Matt,

Do you know and Understand the Definition and Meaning of Socialism?

You Son of a Gun, You are an illiterate Jerk. First go and find out about your own Country, if it was a Socialist.

Germany is a Third world Country, dependent on US.

Don't Criticize Obama, he is our Elected President and Majority of Americans voted for him. If you do so you are criticizing the Majority of Americans. And if you are criticizing Majority of Americans, first criticize your own Chancellor, who is licking Obama's bud.

Germany is a great ally to the U.S. and it should stay that way. This is a good opportunity for the President to look at global warming as well. Its also good because the chancellor is coming, instead of Obama travelling again which i'm sure he probably doesn't quite have time to do for now.

I am SO HAPPY to have "DUBBYYAHH" on the circuit back again! The fun has just began!

It's going to be a hell of a ride for the Republicans in 2010 and 2012 with Georgie Bush and his partner "Meany Dicky Cheney" on the circuit!

Please book these 2 for all speaking engagements, schedule them for all talk shows on TV and Radio. I can't get enough of their buffonery! Pair them with Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and the other pseudo conservative clowns.

    Mmmmmmm!!! Democarst are salivating!
