Palin hits back at 'malicious' photo

Palin is upset with a blogger who doctored a photo of herself and son Trig.

(CNN) – A week after a high-profile uproar with comedian David Letterman over the late-night host's joke about her daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is again sharply responding to the appearance of her children in the public sphere.

Palin's latest response comes after liberal Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel doctored a photograph of the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig, who suffers from Down Syndrome.

Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor.

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton said in a statement provided to CNN. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling."

Stapelton also suggested President Obama should speak out against such behavior from liberal activists.

"Babies and children are off limits," She said. "It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned."

Responding on her blog to the uproar, Biegel said in no uncertain terms the doctored picture was intended to make fun of Burke, not Trig Palin.

"It's called 'Baby Burke' because it's Eddie Burke...basically his probable second-biggest fantasy about the Governor," she wrote. "So, connecting the dots for you...WE'RE MAKING FUN OF EDDIE BURKE!!!!!!"

Earlier this month Biegel filed an ethics complaint against Palin for wearing a jacket made by a company that sponsored her husband - a snow mobile racer - to a public event. An investigator ruled Palin had not acted wrongly and the Alaska governor accused Biegel "asinine political grandstanding."

CNN – please stop reporting on this woman. Her fifteen minutes are way up. She is not a viable political figure.

How long is Sarah Palin going to keep playing the victim?

Oh get off of it already. I am so sick of hearing about her special needs child. I am sorry that this child has a birth defect, no doubt. However, anyone who knows anything about downs syndrome knows that the parents themselves placed this baby at risk for the defect by having him at such a late age. Downs syndrome occurs at a significantly higher rate in babies born to those over 35. They were aware of the risks involved when they made the decision to have the baby. One I personally consider selfish to risk the life and health of another. I don't believe that the whole world needs to tip toe around this issue to be politically correct. Parents who have children at a very late age are taking a gamble with their childs life.

It just goes to show the lengths "juvenile" brained, low class reporters, will go to get a "story" pathetic!! But I also would say to Sarah Palin, for someone to do that to any mothers' beautiful child is appalling!!! YOU are the one bringing attention to the fact your child has a health issue. Shame on you too!!!

Let me get this straight, It's OK for Palin to parade her children for FOX news, It's OK for Bristol to go on a national anti sex ed campaign but not OK for others to mention the Palin children?

The Palins are nothing but hipocrasy.

Palin needs to learn two things – how to pick her battles and when to keep her yap shut. She's nothing but a laughingstock.

When will Sarah Palin quit complaining about everything and everyone who does not agree with her. Also, when will she take responsiblity for anything? Seems like anything not going her way she blames everyone but herself.

How does Sarah Palin feel about those Americans who she and her supporters feel are not 'one of them' by excluding them from 'real America'? These people have children too.

Sarah Palin likes to force feed her medicine to others, but doesn't like the taste of her own. Sarah Palin acted like a bully during the campaign and now she is acting like a coward.

I for one am proud and consider myself luck to not be considered one of the 'us' that Palin and her supporters call themselves. And I don't find any need whatsoever to visit her 'real America'.

I don't care how much democrats hate Palin and it shows during every article that is written about her, but leave the kids alone. What would happen if republicans photoshopped faces of different people over Malia and Sasha and then claimed it was a joke?

If she doesn't want the publicity, she should drag out the children to be photographed. She is a horrible govenor, only doing things that promote her. I wish one day she would take her children, the oldest who can't even manage to graduate high school and leave the state. The last photo is of her and her husband on an air craft carrier. What's her husband doing there and why are we paying for him to follow her around?

I'm not a fan of Palin, but she really needs to not sweat the small stuff. more she fights with these comedians and blogger, less important she becomes. Look, more she makes bigger stuff out of this, more popular they are getting. All at her expense. One thing people must agree (either side you are on) is that Obama thinks about bigger picture and small stuff like this he just laughs it off. There is something to learn from there.

"desecration" – are they saying that Trig is sacred? Or was the picture of Sarah sacred? Something has to be sacred in order for it to be desecrated....

    LOL!
    The Mock Indignation continues....

"Let's issue a statement saying how wrong it is to attack a special needs baby...that'll learn 'em."

What's sick here is Palin pointing out her baby's health condition as a way to garner support. "OH NO! They not only attacked a BABY...but a SPECIAL NEEDS BABY!" It's comical!

How many doctored pics of Bush did we see over the years? Bush had the common sense to ignore it. Palin plays right into it like the fool she is.

AGAIN! Palin using her kids to get attention with the media. The picture was intended to make fun of Burke, not the baby. SHE brings Trig into the debate.

    Desecration:
    des⋅e⋅crate
/ˈdɛsɪˌkreɪt/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [des-i-kreyt] Show IPA
    Use desecration in a Sentence
–verb (used with object), -crat⋅ed, -crat⋅ing.
    1. to divest of sacred or hallowed character or office.
    2. to divert from a sacred to a profane use or purpose.
    3. to treat with sacrilege; profane.

Sorry, but I don't think a photo of Palin and Trig is SACRED. She is not the madonna.

This is crazy. President Obama can not be expected to speak on every thing that Democrats do. Where was Sen McCain when the Republican sent out the "Obama Buck" which was a food stamp? This is just Palin trying to keep her name in the media and she will use any thing to do that. Maybe people will learn that and stop giving her fodder one day.

ATTENTION MEDIA: PLEASE !!! Stop talking about Palin. Every little thing you do with the exception of butt kissing gives her another opportunity to show off her polar bear temper. So please, please stop giving this woman an opportunity to bother us....a gnat is less irritating!!

Children of politicians are off-limits when the politician in question doesn't parade them around in the national spotlight. I agree that it may have been inappropriate for them to doctor a photo of an infant. In regards to her daughter Bristol though, I think she can be considered fair game, since she has been advocating for abstinence only education. The other kids though, I agree that they should be off limits, so long as they don't do anything to garner media attention.
