Palin hits back at 'malicious' photo

Palin is upset with a blogger who doctored a photo of herself and son Trig.
Palin is upset with a blogger who doctored a photo of herself and son Trig.

(CNN) – A week after a high-profile uproar with comedian David Letterman over the late-night host's joke about her daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is again sharply responding to the appearance of her children in the public sphere.

Palin's latest response comes after liberal Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel doctored a photograph of the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig, who suffers from Down Syndrome.

Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor.

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton said in a statement provided to CNN. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling."

Stapelton also suggested President Obama should speak out against such behavior from liberal activists.

"Babies and children are off limits," She said. "It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned."

Responding on her blog to the uproar, Biegel said in no uncertain terms the doctored picture was intended to make fun of Burke, not Trig Palin.

"It's called 'Baby Burke' because it's Eddie Burke...basically his probable second-biggest fantasy about the Governor," she wrote. "So, connecting the dots for you...WE'RE MAKING FUN OF EDDIE BURKE!!!!!!"

Earlier this month Biegel filed an ethics complaint against Palin for wearing a jacket made by a company that sponsored her husband - a snow mobile racer - to a public event. An investigator ruled Palin had not acted wrongly and the Alaska governor accused Biegel "asinine political grandstanding."

Oh brother! REALLY????? She is insulted again????????????????!!

Listen, Palin, you are a politician right? Then you have a big "bull's eye" painted on you, YOU ARE FAIR GAME! You know like the wild animals you like to hunt!

IF every politician would be offended about every thing said about them, that's all the media would have time to cover.

    Advice to Palin: GROW SOME.

She's just inviting all of this now. If she could learn to keep her mouth shut it would not continue. She has no idea what it means to maintain her dignity, and rise above it. She's so needy.

Just one more example of liberal hate and extremism that is running rampant in America today. I don't know how these liberal hate mongers can look themselves in the mirror...... I thought they were supposed to be the compassionate ones. Guess not.

Actually it would have been funnier if Biegel pasted Burke's face over Sarah's face, and Sarah's face over Trigs face.

I'm not sure I'd call that pic of Sarah and iconic pic of a mother holding a special needs child. Do you see how tense her face is? It looks like some one is standing on her foot.

Anyway good for you Biegel. Unfortunately, some people don't have the mental capicity to connect the dots themselves. If Sara didn't use Trig as a photo op then that pic wouldn't have been out there to doctor in the first place. Sara is such a hypocrite.

Are Palin and her people that dense and desperate for attention that they would make an issue of this? Oh wait, of course they are. Palin drug the kids into the campaign when it was to her benefit. Sorry Govenor Bimbo but you don't get to have it only your way.

Oh, it's just more free publicity, Sarah. And you love the attention...otherwise you wouldn't have paraded your children around so relentlessly on the campaign trail. You signed up for it...oh, and uh, beggars can't be choosers, while you're at it!

I don't like Palin but let's not go to this extreme anymore. The attacks on her are one thing but including her baby is going too far and I think the President would agree, children of this age should be off limits. If she would only fade away and not be heard from again would be the best news but this could fuel her to stay in the limelight and go for it in 2012.

Not cool – Kid had no choice on who he is and has no reason to be the target of jokes. Layoff the kid.

Boo Hoo! They're not nice to me. What a crybaby. When she trots her brood on the stage to get votes, that's fine. But when someone uses one of these images for legitimate political mockery, that's off limits.

Ok – just so I understand: We cannot criticize this uneducated, hillbilly bumpken, fundamentalist wacko liar, but she can say what ever she wants, regardless of the truth? Ok – I just wanted to get that straight.

Rethugs – please, please run this imbecile in 2012.

  12. FORMER republican, NEVER again!

Don't feel sorry for her or the child one bit. She told so many lies against the President and did nothing while her people shouted hatred against him at her rallies. This is what she gets and more!

Ironic, someone who was turning in ethics complaints against the Gov, does something unethical and is surprised at what happens next.

Funny thing though, I could see Palin against the late night national TV host. That made sense. This? This is just a waste of time.

So she can dish it out but not take it? Also, stop spinning the story..... just like with the daughter joke, this is not about her special needs child...... it is about her!

Attention, people in Alaska: Find something to do that doesn't involve Palin versus [insert anyone's name here]. Come out of your cabins! It is summer. You can go back to snowed-in stir-crazy cabin-fever paranoia in a couple of months. It will still be there waiting for you.

Someone thinks a lot of themselves. The Statue of Liberty is iconic, Mount Rushmore iconic. A photo of Sarah Palin and any of her children NOT even in the neighborhood of iconic.

For those of you who think there was absolutely nothing wrong with what Biegel did, I hope you never have to feel the pain of knowing that your child or grandchild is being made fun of by people like Biegel (a lib). Those children have more grace, pride, and dignity than liberals will ever have. Liberals are far more challenged emotionally, spiritually and mentally than any child born with disabilities who struggles to overcome them.

Would you go away. Simple as that. And stop being so eager to counter any and everything written......it shows a vindictiveness unbecoming of any national public figure.

You are the worst person by far on the republican side...

Palin and her group of conservative terrorists need to learn how to accept criticism as equally as they dish it out.

Honestly, if she doesn't like her kids getting involved in the public, maybe she shouldn't be parading them around as props at political rallies. That goes pretty much for all politicos.

While I don't agree with Palin or any of her policies, I agree that the doctored photo shouldn't have been published. That being said, I don't think it's more wrong just because Trig has down syndrome. It's wrong for a photo to be doctored of a child, special needs or not.

Secondly, why should Obama apologize on the behalf of the blogger? Palin should seek an apology from the blogger. To try and bring Obama into it again only proves why I dislike her.
