(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is visiting Alaska National Guard troops in Kosovo, her office said Thursday.
The governor is visiting the 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment, an army aviation unit deployed to the area on a peacekeeping mission. "A part of Governor Palin's duties while she is in country is to inspect the troops and ascertain how the experience in Kosovo will better prepare these service members for missions within Alaska and future deployments overseas," her office said in a statement.
Two years ago, Palin visited Alaska National Guard troops in Kuwait and wounded soldiers on a U.S. base in Germany, as well as a border crossing on the Kuwait-Iraq border.
Palin's son Track, who serves in the Army, deployed to Iraq last year.

Lib here wishing Sarah a save trip. There's plenty of other things to hit her on, this isn't one of them.
Let's get passed the gossip, and get to the real news. The economy is in peril. Jobless numbers reported this morning soared.
I think the best way to fix the economy is to give CEO's of businesses and banks hoards of money, ridiculously exorbitant sums of money…just like we are doing now…until we can't afford to buy any products any more because they have all the money. They certainly need it more than we do. 11 Million Dollars in the bank is never enough. Better make it 12, or 15 , if that makes you happy. I can't afford health insurance right now. But, if I was an executive at a banking company, I could afford to buy health insurance for all the people in my city and state.
Guess this goes on her resume as foreign experience!
Why is this news? She is not the President even though she would love to be. She is just media crazy and everybody can see right though her. She is a sick lady that onces to fight with people that is irrelavent. YOU WILL NEVER BE MY PRESIDENT -YU ARE A WEAK EMBARSSMENT TO WOMEN.
I think that makes more trips than Obama has deigned to take to support our troops.
ok... If Palin won't go away or the media quit reporting on her, I'm watching/reading news elsewhere. Anywhere she's not mentioned is a blessing. farewell CNN.
CNN, your infatuation with this person is beyond the pale.
To continue this is only proving the point that your "Journalistic Integrity" has been abandoned in a thinly veiled attempt to raise your ratings. Poor showing on your part.......
Of all the news stories, why is THIS important to the rest of the country?
Really now...can't you get over Palin? I'm sure there are other governors who also care about their national guard troops overseas. What a ridiculous story...who cares?
This isn't really news that needs to be covered. Let her go back to Alaska and leave national politics to real politicians.
Kosovo seems like an odd place to visit if you are trying to bolster your international credentials. The war there ended 10 years ago, so it's now a peaceful place with no much going on there. If she really wants to stand by the troops she should go visit them in Iraq or Afghanistan. I'm sure they are in more need of a moral boost than the guys stationed in Kosovo.
Palin is building her resume on the blood of the countries finest. Enough said.
Obvious stunt. She's trying to beef up her foreign policy credentials before her 2012 bid. Duh.
If we Kosovo some more foreign aid, then maybe they'll keep her!
YOU BETCHA!
The governors typically take care of the day-to-day operations of a state. With all of the Sarah Palin travel coverage, what has she been doing for Alaska?
We love you Governor Palin.....
This is a joke. She's not helping anything in Kosovo. Indeed, officials going on junkets like hers just gum up the works and distract others from their jobs.
This is part of her future presidential campaign, so that she could lay a phony claim of "foreign policy experience" other than the fact that one tiny part of Alaska is close to a tiny part of Russia (as if that makes any difference).
Personal ambition first, country last.
Can't Palin save the taxpayer's money and see Kosovo from her house in Alaska?
Can't Governor Palin see Kosovo from her home?
Sarah should be a good leader and stay over there with her troops, lord knows they need her more than we do.
I just can't help but thinking everything this woman does these days is with an eye to her 2012 presidential aspirations. It just nauseates me the way she twists everything she gets near into a story about her and how wonderful she is and how everyone is out to get her.
I remember girls like her in high school; unfortunately for the human race, some people never grow up. And even more unfortunate, some even get elected to governorships.
this poor excuse for a lady is a joke worse then the duo that killed the gop bush/cheney GO DEMS
foreign policy and commander-in-chief experience at one shot...............
Uh-huh. How long till we get the news that she's shopping and using taxpayer dollars to pay for hotel rooms for her daughter?
Palin's attempts to look like a serious, engaged leader are a joke. Don't check under the hood, folks, there's nothing there.
I'm surprised she doesn't just stand on the shore. That's the place from which she sees most foreign countries I gather.
Surprise!! A governor doing her job.
I guess it is a big deal, after all she may be the only one.
If she's this good as governor maybe we should all be shouting:
RUN, SARAH, RUN!!
