(CNN) – The office of Democratic Rep. John Conyers released a statement Friday following reports the powerful congressman's wife, Detroit City Council member Monica Conyers, had pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit bribery.
"This has been a trying time for the Conyers family and, with hope and prayer, they will make it through this as a family," said a Conyers spokesman. "Public officials must expect to be held to the highest ethical and legal standards. With this in mind, Mr. Conyers wants to work towards helping his family and city recover from this serious matter."

Those numbers are probably correct in DIRECT outlays to utility companies by the average household. What about INDIRECT outlays in the purchase of goods and services from suppliers who pass on their increased cost to consumers? And please do not even BEGIN to say that $175 or $340 is going to cover the increased cost of gasoline.

Hey CNN if she were a wife of a Republican you would have had a five page story on her and her husband along with a series of run up articles and not to mention the series of follow ups. But since she's a Demo-rat it gets a small blurb and will not be mentioned again. Kind of like this post, never to see the light of the internet.

With ensign and sanford admiiting to their adulterous actions you and your republican friends can no longer take the high moral value road. Instead of spewing hate (which GOD looks down upon) why don't you put forth ideas as to how to make this country better. And that goes to all republicans. Here i will give you an idea to help save the economy. We need to have all most of the submarines and warships replaced, instead of this stimulus plan we currently have we should use that money to make new warships and submarines. This will take years to do so that means good paying jobs for the steel industry, electronics makers, and a whole host of other industries can take adantage of that also. Of course this plan doesn't work without a "buy american provision". Let me know what you think
Hallelujah! God is exposing all their dirt. What is done in the dark will be brougt to the light. No hidden thing will go unpunished. What's done in secret will be exposed. God is tired of people, claiming to be of his righteousness and living any kind of way. We haven't seen anything yet, there is more to come. If you are going to hold a leadership position, then you ought to act like a leader and have some dignity and integrity about yourself.
God is doing a clean sweep thru Washington, so they better get themselves together. It is about time; I just wish it was a way we can just get rid of all of them, because they have been there to long and have become sitting ducks of corruption and greed. They do not care about us, they just care about how much money and power they can get in those positions. I am just sick of all of them.
Aren't their any truly honest and moral people that love the USA and would work hard to see that it doesn't become the socialist state it is headed for? This Conyers "lady" is just the tip of the iceberg.....she has the attitude of "entitlement" that most of the people in office have, from the president on down to the local level. They really believe that the middle class and small businesses are supposed to work like crazy so we can turn over a large percentage of our income to the so called "havenots".
