Gov. Sarah Palin exchanged jokes with Sen. John Kerry this week.
Gov. Sarah Palin exchanged jokes with Sen. John Kerry this week.

(CNN) – She's visiting troops on a peacekeeping mission, but Sarah Palin signaled Friday she's ready to go to battle with John Kerry, who reportedly made a joke earlier this week at her expense.

The Boston Herald reported that on Wednesday, before South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's exact whereabouts were widely known, the Massachusetts senator mused to reporters the wrong elected official had dropped out of sight.

"Too bad if a governor had to go missing it couldn't have been the governor of Alaska," he said, according to the paper. "You know, Sarah Palin."

Palin herself, speaking to U.S. troops in Kosovo, responded Friday with a shot aimed straight for the face - literally.

"Then Sen. John Kerry makes this joke, I don't know if you saw this, but he makes this joke saying, 'Aw shoot, of all the governors in the nation who disappeared, too bad it couldn't have been that governor from Alaska...'" she said.

"But the way he said it, he looked quite frustrated, and he looked so sad, and I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say, 'John Kerry, why the long face?'"

Palin is overseas visiting Alaska National Guard troops on a peacekeeping mission.

Is this really worthy of reporting? This is a prime example of the tail wagging the dog and why the media continues to be blamed for 'wagging the dog.' What is the purpose of highlighting such immature and unintellectual rhetoric? Does the nation really need to focus on this with all of the real news out there? CNN is becoming more and more of a political tabloid. Why is any one still reporting on Palin? Has she done anything worth noting since her failed 2008 run for V.P.?

Tallulah in Alaska   June 26th, 2009 12:50 pm ET

Oh, John Kerry. If only it were true . . . what a happy day that would be for Alaska (and America).

She should quite her day read bad jokes off a teleprompter full time.

Jon   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

Sarah Palin's jokes are as ill-conceived as the rest of her agenda.

No Ones Home Boy   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

Here's a new caption for the picture above:
"Governor Palin adds her opinion about who should lead the Republican Governor's Association...Something about the biggest set of horns".

steve in AK   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

Well, we knew that Palin couldn't take a joke, now we know she can't give on either. Her Kerry joke is about as original and creative as any of her ideals are about governing.

If this is what the GOP thinks is there future, then I think they are looking in the wrong direction. Palin will send us back 50 years.

I sort of agree with "Edgar" except I would add something to his sentiment. "Go Sarah... go away."

Austin, Texas   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

I believe that early hominids were telling that joke in prehistoric times.

Jesse   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

I am take a wild guess...this is perfectly okay for her to attack...Palin only appeals to the Rush Limbaugh crowd, you know that 23% that believes that Obama is not a citizen of the United States.

csmith   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

Wow, I wish people would just stop talking about her so she'd disappear. She's like freaking Beetlejuice– or Candyman.

Sarah if you are going to attempt a joke you need to make sure it is funny. Kerry might not be the best looking guy but at least he has a brain.

Connie in Tennessee   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

John Kerry – right again!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaron   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

Enough already. Seriously. This woman is worse than a Lohan vs Brittany brawl. She is always saying something. Always. Just running her jaw to get attention. Please, please, please CNN, start reporting the news and not tabloid gossip.

Ginger K.   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

Yuck

Carmen, Miami FL   June 26th, 2009 12:48 pm ET

Lame joke, Palin.

drman   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

That was a dumb thing for Kerry to say in the first place. She is justified in commenting back to him.

JM in NY   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Actually both are pretty good jokes. Lighten up people.

Kevin   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Is there a bigger clueless idiot in this world than Sarah Palin? What a worthless human being.

Cathy Hart   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

she needs to go away and take her over-rehearsed and scripted jokes with her

rb   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

John Kerry who is a Vietnam vet in case he let you forget is nothing but a child... He is sad and angry and acts like a 4 year old.

Darlene   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Aw shoot Sarah, you need to toughen up. You have put yourself and your family in the public eye and being a public figure makes you a good target. Many, many have been the butt of jokes for years and I don't think they cry foul with each new joke.

Besides not having the "smarts" to be VP or Pres. I don't think you have the attitude or temperment, you are too sensitive, so go back to Alaska and figure out how to spend our taxpayer dollars ($21 million) to build your little airport in the middle of nowhere!

David   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

The day Sarah Palin is elected President is the day I give up all hope for this country. Her views and sensitivity are so far off the map. But, on the other side, all of you gun nuts that have ever wanted to shoot wolves from a helicopter will be in luck!

Dan W.   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Yeah...nice comeback. As much as I dislike John Kerry, I think Palin is an idiot. I hope, for the sake of America, that she will lose in 2012.

Jason   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Talk about two of the most vapid people in Washington (and yes Palin is basically an insider at this point). Hey Sarah, don't you have a state to tend to or are the cameras just too tempting for you?

Task   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Well done. Respond to a lame and insulting joke with a much better and funnier one.

PGS   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Chris - New York   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

Yeah, go Sarah. Keep up the idiotic comments. They'll come in handy in 2012.

Dave   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

That's a really old joke, I think Leno did it during the campaign. Still no original thought from Palin.

Tom in Buffalo, NY   June 26th, 2009 12:47 pm ET

As much as I dislike Sarah Palin, she really burned John Kerry on this one, and I applaud her. It's nice to see her fight back with a little bit of wit, rather than just pretending to be offended and trying to claim the non-existant moral high ground.

paul   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

please get the GOP nomination in 2012. I can't wait to watch SNL again. she inspires.....comedians.

Sarah   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

This woman isn't worth the news coverage.

I do find it funny that she acts like such a victim all the time but still lashes out at others.

russell   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

she can comment or joke about everyone else , but when someone put's upa picture holding a funny little kid , she takes issue with that and Letterman , I hope she does try and run for POTUS , because we will have a field day picking this racist , vile ugly woman apart ....

sanych   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

Are you sure she was referring to Kerry's face? The picture suggests another part of his anatomy.

Frank   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

Yea! Go Sarah go! Just go!!!!!!

Lizz   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

Why do we have to listen to her crap? Is this this important.? She won't stay away from the media. I think she wants to be a Hollywood celebrity not a politician. This is like soap opera.......

Harry8   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

Does she have lie every time she opens her mouth? Kerry didn't say shoot anyone. She's such a drama queen! She should change her name to Britney Palin and go on blinking, shaking her empty head and whinning about every little joke. Her whole life is a JOKE!

bob rose   June 26th, 2009 12:46 pm ET

Boy I see this idiot always can dish it out, but the dumb broad sure as hell can't take it!

deb   June 26th, 2009 12:44 pm ET

I'm really getting tired of all the petty, childish remarks by the bloggers, the media and the "elected officials". Seems that ever since we've had the blogs people can and will say anything. What has happened to class, integrity, discretion and intelligence. I've noticed that if you must sign your name (i.e., letters to editor of newspapers) you refrain from all the pettiness.

Rob   June 26th, 2009 12:44 pm ET

Yikes. This woman is so vapid and devoid of any substance. Sure, Kerry's joke was stupid. But, if Palin takes everything so personally, how can she really lead a state much less a country. No wonder the voters rejected her in '08.

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!   June 26th, 2009 12:44 pm ET

Sarah, honey, you've gotta put down the blackberry, stop following any little bit of gossip about you, and just stick to governing.

Also, too, have you commented yet on yer pal Gov Sanford's behavior yet? Or are you OK with him running away and keeping a lover in Argentina?

'Cause there are simply DOZENS of us that are waiting to hear what your view on this scandal is, you being the voice of the Republicans and all, ya know.

I bet her staff was up until 2-2:30 thinking up that zinger...

It would be nice if she disappeared from the media for a week or so. She is to the MSM what Lindsay Lohan was to TMZ & EW a few years ago. I really don't care what she does, especially when it's irrelevant bickering like this.

D   June 26th, 2009 12:43 pm ET

Really CNN – why is this being listed as news? She name dropped Kerry – big deal! I cannot wait until she is voted out of office so I can stop hearing about this political hack.

Such a drama queen. She's not even close to qualified for her position, she's just propped up by the media and conservatives who find her different than most politicians– an attractive female in charge. She spends more time calling names than actually contributing dialogue to the important issues.

mary derricotte   June 26th, 2009 12:42 pm ET

I wonder, if we ignore Sarah Palin long enough, will she go away? How about we give that a try? I know it's tough – she makes it so easy and gives the media plenty of good fodder to work with but I think her 15 minutes of fame is up – enought with the little miss "golly, gosh, darn to heck" garbage. Does she really think she belongs in the big leagues? Maybe the farm team.

Mark   June 26th, 2009 12:40 pm ET

Good job Governor! Kerry is the one who needs to get lost.

brad   June 26th, 2009 12:40 pm ET

jeez. What is this? High School. So stupid from both sides. Get to work. Both of you. And I mean really work.

Old Farmboy   June 26th, 2009 12:40 pm ET

I get it.. Long face.... Stop it, my ribs hurt.......

Now that's funny, don't care who said it.

sms29s   June 26th, 2009 12:40 pm ET

If she doesn't develop a thicker skin, she will never be presidential material. Not that I think she ever would be anyway.

Hakim in Frisco Texas   June 26th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

Unfortunately she thinks this is cute. The thing is no one takes her seriously because unlike Newt, Mark Sanford (before the scandal), Bobby Jindal, Mark Pence or other potential GOP 2012 candidates, the news that follows her is not about policy or anything like that but just gossip. She doesn't discuss her thoughts and policy solutions on Iran, North Korea, Health Care, Unemployment, the economythings the American people are thinking about. Honestly because she has not formed a thoughtful, rationale opinion about ANY of these. It's not that Democrats are afraid of her, trust me WE ARE NOT!! What is frightning is that she doesn't seem to have anything under the surface or a genuine yearning to learn or to have an intillgent, well thought opinion of current issues. That is her biggest problem and why she is looked at from a gossip perspective vs. true policy substance.

MAngeline   June 26th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

Any excuse for Sweet Sarah to get out of Alaska! Kosovo of all places And why exactly?..To visit the troops??? Me thinks she is trying to build up her resume with the folks of her home state footing the bill.

Will   June 26th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

CNN, why is this news?!!! Stop giving this woman more press!!!!

Stephen from Alabama   June 26th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

Republicans better hope this woman isn't the future of their party, because anyone with half a brain knows she's a nut job. Nothing wrong with her retaliating to Kerry's comments, but she could have at least come up with something original.

Tom L   June 26th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

Nice!

Paul   June 26th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

really?!

MorallyBankruptGOP   June 26th, 2009 12:39 pm ET

Palin, Limbaugh and the rest of the antiAmerica GOP crowd continue to drive people away from the Republican Party – the more they say, the better it is for the Democratic Party as they continue to be more and more irrelevant.
Palin-Limbaugh 2012! LOL!

Maureen   June 26th, 2009 12:38 pm ET

I personally can't stand her but she made a joke – ha ha -get over yourself Sarah and disappear

krystal   June 26th, 2009 12:37 pm ET

What a hypocrite! Its all fun and games when she makes jokes, but the second someone makes a joke against her, its completely unappropriate.. don't ya know?

Terri in OK   June 26th, 2009 12:37 pm ET

I'm with Kerry on this one. Go away Sarah.

Ron   June 26th, 2009 12:37 pm ET

Palin should absolutely attack those who try to attack her. John Kerry is not in her league. John Kerry got where he is today because of the money he keeps attaching himself to...Oh oh... I forgot. The CNN blog is only for Democrats. Sorry, let me repeat the mantra

"Obama is Great. Obama is Great." There I feel better already.

Joe   June 26th, 2009 12:37 pm ET

Well delivered

Sarah Palin is a fighter.. picks fight all the time.

fefe   June 26th, 2009 12:36 pm ET

well here we go again; what she wont do to keep her name and face in print! Why is she sweating the little stuff? I so hope the country and your party see you for what your aren't.

Sara Supporter   June 26th, 2009 12:36 pm ET

Kerry's comments were in such bad taste on so many different levels. At some point, we need to start expecting more from our politicians and our media. Bashing people, making fun of them and laughing at their expense simply because we don't agree with their policitical views is juvenile. Shame on John Kerry.

Rick in WPB,FL   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

Go AWAY Sarah...

2dumb2lead!!!!!

j   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

My gawd, she is NOT CLEVER. She needs to disappear

Lori, Houston Texas   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

Haha, Sarah made a funny. Very, very, old joke, Sarah. Try stealing some newer material. If you spent half as much time studying our history and current global events, as you do looking for TV opportunities, more people might respect you as a genuine candidate at some point. You seem to think you can suceed just by being on TV. This is not Sarah and Todd plus 300,000,000. You actually have to WORK on a daily basis to keep up with important events. You seem to have as much intellectual curiousity as Bush. And look where that got us. G*d knows we won't repeat that mistake again. Oh well, too bad, so sad for you, Sarah.

Blue   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

She is so petty. She does not know how to handle comments. If she can't handle this, she can not handle anything else.

Anthony   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

Oh good grief...

Yes, it was a very lame joke. And we probably would have forgotten it if Governor Palin didn't bring it up.

Is this what we have to look forward to for the next 3 years? It seems like every other day the governor is taking offense to something someone said or did. And while some things have crossed the line, others are the same kinds of needling that ALL politicians have to deal with.

If the public spotlight's getting to hot Governor, then exit stage right.

Dixon   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

How has Palin made it so long in politics. It seems she is constantly crying about what someone says about her. Now she is going after physical attributes of those who dare say something negative about her. I wonder how often the Police are at her home settling a name calling incident with her neighbors in the trailer court.

Zac   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

She should quit her day job

Chris from NC   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

Palin has a sense of humor? That's a laugh - a scoff!!!!

Bongets Gallardo   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

Bulls eye Governor Palin.... Yeheyyy!

Alex from Wisconsin   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

I wonder how many times she practiced that line before she delivered it to the troops? I'm also curious as to who wrote that joke for her. That level of wit is a least 4 levels above Sarah Palin standard.

But you got to admit, it was funny huh?

Mike in Oahu   June 26th, 2009 12:35 pm ET

Just like children in the playground.

Bekim   June 26th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

I don't think the army needs to hear politicians taking shots at one another. US soldiers need our support and respect and not Gov Palin making fun at someones face I mean its not like her face is any better than Kerry's.

Mack   June 26th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

She can dish it out but she sure can't take it!!

... and which of Sarah's kids are with her on this Kosovo trip?

Ira   June 26th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

Isn't the big story here that John Kerry made a joke? And a fairly funny one too.

Me in Big D   June 26th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

You go girl!!! All the naysayers and liberal bloggers that can't stand you are soooooooo jealous of you, they hurt! Ugly Kerry!! I can't stand the idiot, as is the case with most liberal democRATS, especially ones like him that live off their wives and then there are the Kennedys that live off their name.

Sarahmadinejad Palinannity   June 26th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

What a classless, two bit excuse for a woman.

Debby   June 26th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

This is why Kerry didn't get elected because he is a total idiot.

Martha   June 26th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

Lame.

DJW   June 26th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

Grow Up Sarah!!!!!

John   June 26th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

Why does this matter?

Neel   June 26th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

That joke must have taken up all 6 of her brain cells working as hard they possibly could. And yes, like Edgar said, "Go Sarah- 2012!" What a blessing not just for Democrats, but Americans in general. Imagine her trying to debate with Obama.."Aw shucks, aw geez... well, I finally made a trip overseas. Tax cuts..."

Alan   June 26th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

Finally a sense of humour and not crying and whining. Maybe she can learn if she studies hard enough.

Corey   June 26th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

Oooh burrnnn.

Larry   June 26th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

Kerry isn't the brightest bulb in the box but Palin has made her share of illicit slams to people too.

This story looks more like two kids who can't get along in the sandbox.

VON BISMARK,Vienna.   June 26th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

This woman is really power hungry. Won't stop at anything to seek notice.

rice, bryan   June 26th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

why can't she just go away? i think the majority spoke in november!!!

citizenjane   June 26th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

"But the way he said it, he looked quite frustrated, and he looked so sad, and I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say, 'John Kerry, why the long face?'"

Peacekeeping mission? Dragging our troops into her political arena is anything but. How insulting of her.

susie   June 26th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

John Kerry needs to apologize.

Nick   June 26th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

Go away Sarah 2009!

Wilton   June 26th, 2009 12:31 pm ET

Does this mean she is actually developing a sense of humor?

Blake   June 26th, 2009 12:31 pm ET

Yeah. But make a comment about her looks or her face and watch all hell break loose.

gary davis Harbor Oregon   June 26th, 2009 12:31 pm ET

wow

I think he is right palin needs to shut up and go away

tom   June 26th, 2009 12:30 pm ET

Didn't she say Obama paled around with terrorists. Doesn't Obama have children that can read and hear someone is calling their father a terrorist and implying all types of evils? Has she ever apologized for those remarks or does she believe them? The doctor killer and her have some common ground does that mean she pals around with terrorists. Stop blaming the liberal press and the godless democrats for your inabilities. Stop dragging your kids into every situation. What is your position on Healthcare, Korea, Iran, Immigration? We already know you hate gays, Illegals, gun control, and correct grammar.

Mike in Columbus   June 26th, 2009 12:29 pm ET

If only she could take it as well as she dishes it out.

Collin   June 26th, 2009 12:28 pm ET

Im am not a John Kerry Fan, but Palin's folksy talk and the constant undeserved attention she attracks from the media is getting so old. I consider myslef a republican, but I could not vote for John McCain because he chose Palin as his running mate. I understand the desire to get the radical conservative vote, but her lack of knowledge and just general idiocracy is apalling. I hope she does not try and run for President in 2012, cause I would probably be forced to vote democrat yet again.

makesUwonder   June 26th, 2009 12:27 pm ET

Give them hell Gov. Palin....................someday they might just wake up and learn not to mess with a woman wearing a good looking pair of heels.

I'm beginning to like this Gov. Palin more and more everyday. This woman can dish it out and she sure can take it. You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Casey   June 26th, 2009 12:26 pm ET

Kerry's coment was stupid and inappropriate. But I still think Palin could have waited to give her rebuttal rather than involve the troops in partisan political stupidity.

LB i nFL   June 26th, 2009 12:26 pm ET

Well Senator Kerry, when you choose to play with trash you are going to get a little dirty!

Jane   June 26th, 2009 12:26 pm ET

Who else is sick of politicians acting like children. Wait. That is an insult to children. Grow up for the sake of this country

JB   June 26th, 2009 12:24 pm ET

Robin   June 26th, 2009 12:24 pm ET

Keep your head up high Sarah.

Moonbeam   June 26th, 2009 12:23 pm ET

Meet Sarah Palin, professional victim!

It is not for here to ignore, to rise above it, to focus on important...., oh, wait, perhaps being perpetually offended is most important thing for Gov. Palin?!

Charlene   June 26th, 2009 12:23 pm ET

It is amazing how the democrats are so afraid of Sarah, that they have to attack, attack, attack. It only makes them look small minded.

Eileen   June 26th, 2009 12:23 pm ET

Kerry is just speaking for the millions of us that feel the same way.

Thanks Mr. Kerry!

Laura, Boston MA   June 26th, 2009 12:22 pm ET

As a resident of MA I sometimes wonder which citizens keep electing John Kerry and why.

That was a stupid remark for him to make about any human being. What if something had seriously gone wrong and say the governor had been abducted and/or killed? To wish that on another person shows him for what he is. He has children doesn't he realize that her children hear the remarks on the 24 news stations as well. How do you think they feel hearing a United State Senator say too bad it couldn't be the governor of Alaska who is missing.

I will keep Kennedy for as long as I can but I hope the democratic party will come up with some competition for Kerry next time he runs.

Mary Lou Hamm   June 26th, 2009 12:21 pm ET

she is well versed in the rethug talking points, sounds like a lame el rushbo joke, she will never be president or vp, keep this up and she wont even get a reality show on CMT

A Rob   June 26th, 2009 12:20 pm ET

Gov Sarah Palin please....please exit left and leave the stage. Partisanship and religious divide will never equate to being a Presidential contender.

Free and Thinking in Las Vegas   June 26th, 2009 12:20 pm ET

Ha. Ha. ho. ho. You see? Sarah Palin can be really, really funny and so, so witty. That's one of those jokes that really sophisticated need to sit down for some serious discussion to to even touch its core for meaning, but at the same time have a knee slapping good time. Gosh dang, she is funny.

mike,texas   June 26th, 2009 12:20 pm ET

Palin is a Win,Win,Win,Win. The Republicans love her.The media gets great ratings from her.The Democrats can't lose to her.And the people get great entertainment from her.All four should pitch in and keep her around.Wink Wink

Robert   June 26th, 2009 12:19 pm ET

If someone had made a joke about her face, she would call it sexist.

B   June 26th, 2009 12:19 pm ET

even her jokes are scripted. nice.

JonDie   June 26th, 2009 12:19 pm ET

"Palin is overseas visiting Alaska National Guard troops on a peacekeeping mission."

Wrong again, CNN. Palin is running to president in 2012.

By the way, I notice that when the supposedly "liberal" media runs the pictures of all the recent presidents and presidential contenders who are adulterers, you folks mysteriously leave out the pictures of presidential contenders Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giulani.

I can see leaving Giulani out, he never had a chance. But where is Gingrich's face when the media paraded out all the "promise breakers?"

Independent   June 26th, 2009 12:19 pm ET

Oh please, CHILDREN, each go for a time out in opposite ocrners...I'm getting so sick and tired of this.....

I TRUELY think there is more IMPORTANT NEWS than this...

changing my screen name to see if it helps getting my comments posted   June 26th, 2009 12:18 pm ET

I'm no John Kerry fan and the idea of Sarah Palin becoming President scares the crap out of me. But I have to admit those were both pretty funny jokes.

Laverne   June 26th, 2009 12:18 pm ET

Kerry probably should have not made that statement, but this woman does not stand a chance of being POTUS. She may have the support of the base, but the average American in their right mind would NEVER vote for Sarah Palin, not in Nov. 2008 or EVER!

patNY   June 26th, 2009 12:18 pm ET

This was not a smart thing for Kerry to say...

25 year old independent, get a clue, it's time to rise above the childish ways   June 26th, 2009 12:18 pm ET

Why are all these politicians acting like children instead of doing the jobs they were elected to do. What frustrates me is that "we the people" allow this to continue since there is no way to reduce their term limits or even give them term limits for positions that have none. These people get elected year after year and become inceasingly out of touch with their demographic and then "we the people" get distacted and buy into the whole two party "i'm for one side your for the other" crap that they stratigically do to fire us up, and then we forget that this is not about a side it's about whats right for us as a country. That is why these people were originally elected when we were a new nation, not to break records for who's been in a seat longer or "we've never had a minority in this postion "to represent us" before so i hguess it's time . WE AS AMERICANS HAVE THIS ALL WRONG AND IT'S TO LATE TO FIX THIS!!!

Johnson   June 26th, 2009 12:17 pm ET

I don't get it..politicians shouldn't try to be funny.

TangledThorns   June 26th, 2009 12:17 pm ET

Haha, you go Sarah! Kerry is a loser on so many levels.

Sniffit   June 26th, 2009 12:17 pm ET

Haha...actually kinda funny...

as long as they keep it light, shouldn't be any reason they can't rib each other like this

Pround Democrat   June 26th, 2009 12:16 pm ET

I hate Sarah Palin, but I admit that it was a good comeback line on an easy target ...lol!

JC   June 26th, 2009 12:16 pm ET

I dont think it was a joke. More like wishful thinking.

Liberty   June 26th, 2009 12:14 pm ET

okay I agree John Kerry has a long face and if Palin would stop whining every time someone made a joke about her she would not get so many critics when she makes jokes but I don't agree this is funny. That's got to be the worst wind up for a bad joke ever. Palin should drop the comedy routine and stick to inciting the 20% of Republicans that are left.

Jeff   June 26th, 2009 12:14 pm ET

Good, our troops could use some USO entertainment. Has Palin been working on some skits with Tina Fey? Now THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT.

Rick from Murfreesboro, TN   June 26th, 2009 12:14 pm ET

Way to go John, you hit the nail right on the head.

Anonymous   June 26th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

Whatever you think about Sarah, the "long face" line is FUNNY!

KC   June 26th, 2009 12:12 pm ET

The long face is that you're still around, still in the national spotlight.

Here's to you being out of it....

CHEERS!

David   June 26th, 2009 12:12 pm ET

I love it. Kerry is the most annoying looking man in politics...

sonny chapman   June 26th, 2009 12:12 pm ET

Fifth, maybe Sixth Grade humor. If a pol,, Dem. or Rep., wants to crack a joke, then let's hold them to entertainment standards. Corny jokes or infantile humor is so-childish.

Jo   June 26th, 2009 12:11 pm ET

Alaska is paying for her to visit her son. People why are you all so stupid. She is only going there so she can spend time with her son on the tax payers expense. John Kerry you are right, and every chance Palin get to take advantage of the system she will take it.

KG, Twin Cities   June 26th, 2009 12:11 pm ET

Quick! Someone let Sarah know she dropped her flute!

Edgar   June 26th, 2009 12:09 pm ET

Go Sarah...

2012!!!!

Abby   June 26th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

lol, that was Presidential. NOT! Somebody tell the woman to get different handlers. A visit to our troops is the LAST place one should give a divisive, partisan speech.
