(CNN) - South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford brushed aside calls for his resignation Friday, telling reporters he is just trying to "survive today."

"I'm just trying to survive today is what I'm trying to do," he said in a brief question-and-answer session with members of the media, adding that "my hunch is to continue on."

The embattled governor also praised his wife Jenny's reaction to his admission of an affair with an Argentine woman.

"Jenny has been absolutely magnanimous and gracious as a wonderful Christian woman in this process," Sanford said.

Abandoned wife, kids, state and job. Huh.
And he is just trying to "survive today".
What comes to mind???????? Self centered, narcissistic, self absorbed, and finally jerk. Poor guy has gone through so much of HIS OWN MAKING! It is very interesting there is no mention of his 4 KIDS. Oh yea, they are not about him.
I am so glad he is not my governor.

Hey you can always look to John Kerry for a laugh. Noted liberal comedian, following the lead of so many viscious dope smoking liberals decided for some reason to take a shot a Sarah Palin while being questioned by reporters concerning Mark Sanford. Why is beyond normal understanding. When Palin shot back, the dope smokers who read CNN jumped all over her. Again, hard to understand I guess unless you are a neanderthal liberal dope smoker.

Oh please! he's playing the victim now..he even alluded to King David in an earlier post. I really hope that he sees this for how egregious it is and RESIGNS!..
Besides, if he was trying to ammend things with his wife, then why did he go back?. why did he have to "cry" in Argentina? couldn't he cry here? Talk about making the temptation more accesible!
I thionk this guy is a fraud and a major hypocrit!

It's like night and day. How they can be so arrogant and so sure of themselves being politicians and how remorseful looking and humbled when caught with their hands in the cookie jar(so to speak).
I wonder if they've got split personalities.

Hmmm. just wondering....didn't Gov Stanford call Clinton's actions reprehensible, call for his resignation, saying lying was the worst part. and vote for his impeachment?

Maybe that was another guy with the same name and state or before this one hiked to Argentina. Just sayin.

Resign and let a morally obligated individual take your place. If you cannot be true to your family then how can you be true to your state.

Jenny found out about the affair in January.
Sanford went to Argentina last week. The affair has been going on a long time.
Why didn't Jenny leave him a long time ago? Is it because she likes the "First Lady" title too much? She doesn't want to move out of the Gov's mansion?
Sanford has been cheating on her a long time now.

Someone should remind the governor that suicide is always a viable option for dealing with trouble.

Resign today. You do not have the honor to fill the position of Governor. Hypocritcal Christians like you are part of the problem this country is having. You holier than thou satance was a sham. Do your state a favor and just go away.

  18. Really?

Jenny is taking the boys out on a boat to keep them away from the media about you! I didn't know she was so strong. She is not the little housewife at home. She is going on with her life. Good for her and the boys.

As far as I have heard from many people, both moderate Democrats and open-minded Republicans, who wondered if the Republicans in particular, have been being cheated by the politicians who claimed having high moral and family values, if so, how gullible of those who were so easily persuaded by words (from lips).

Jenny should kick him to the curb and get on with her life. She is a smart, capable woman. Gov. Sanford should resign and move to Argentina to enjoy his mistress full-time. In the end, both would be happier.

As much as I deplore your missfortune, this is between you and your wife and those affected. People lighten up, he broke no law and if you have forgiven Bush and Cheney for their crimes, let this man live his life and should be forgiven.

It is amazing that he is calling on the Lord now. He should have been calling on him before he leaped. You so called devout Christians are a trip. You are the biggest sinners. I am quite sure that if he is such a Christian he knows about the 10 commandments. He is correct that his wife is a christian woman but this has nothing to do with his digression. I am quite sure that she has prayed on her situation with him and what to do about it and the Lord said kick him to the curb and i will take care of the rest. He is just sorry that he got caught. He outslicked himself. He should resign because he left his job, not because of the affair. No one cares about the affair. That is between him and his wife.
