(CNN) - President Obama issued a statement Tuesday congratulating Al Franken's victory in the Minnesota Senate race.
"I look forward to working with Senator-Elect Franken to build a new foundation for growth and prosperity by lowering health care costs and investing in the kind of clean energy jobs and industries that will help America lead in the 21st century.”

PRESIDENT Obama congratulates SENATOR Franken. Wonderful.
Maybe Coleman, Pawlenty, Katherine Harris, Bush and Cheney can go work for Ahmadinejad in Iran as election supression consultants now.
It's about time that Minnesota had full representation in the Senate. If not for the obstructionists of the radical right they would have had it all along.
Step down, shut up. The more this man talks the more republicans see what a waste of money he was but oh no we got to hear about his "other" loves besides so to stick the dagger in further of what idiots others are but his wife and children. What a sick greedy ole man. His lights are out.
Together we will usher in a new era of irresponsibility. Where the common folks won’t be expected to contribute anything to this Nation and the Government will provide for and regulate our lives.
Drop out of school…we have a plan for you! Blow all your money on material goods….we have a plan for you! Have 10 kids with no money no daddy ….we have a plan for you.
Do the right things to succeeded in life…….you need to pay for our plans!
Now that Coleman is an avergae un-employed American that will have to deal with the results of 8 years of GOP rule... I would love to be a fly on the wall as Coleman has to fill out his un-employment paperwork, try to find a decent paying job or any job at all and has to buy his own health care insurance! The look on his face as he sees what that costs woudl be priceless! He now has to live in a world he helped create... wanna bet he is voting Democrat by 2012?
Boy, a whole lot of bitter losers on this thread. Grow up people. All of those who are griping about a comedian in the Senate well as I remember whe had an actor in the White House at one time. Franken couldn't do any worse and will probably do better than Coleman. See us democrats don't goosestep to party orders like some of you morons who follow Limpballs commands. Now lets see what a real government for the people by the people can do with the replublitards on the sidelines.

.If we wanna advance it costs money, plain and simple.

As long as your not paying right Jeff? Things are great as long as you are not the one who has to pay for it.
Welcome to the era of personal irresponsibility!
Yipee........now we have;
1. An idiot in the white house
2. An idiot as Minn. senator
Yay!!! Someone give me money i didn't earn!!!!!
It's about time. In fact, Franken's seating as a US Senator is LONG overdue.
Jeff at 5:05.
Like its your money???? Mine's going offshore so you and your comrades can't take it from my kids.
Buh bye.
Not difficult for Obama. Stupid for the USA. Arabia comes west. With the help of Obama.
Expect Franken to be on State of the Union only to be attacked by John King – the angry Republican!
It's ironic that we are happy about this. It seems to me the consitiution of the united states is destroyed by this party every day. We need to wake up I was tired of bush destroying the constitution , and Obama is doing the same thing.
If CNN is supposedly a bastion of liberal thought, why to conservatives continue to read it? It must be tiring to sit in the echo chamber that is Faux News. Cause I'm sure everything they say is "fair and balanced"–like Cheney, Limbaugh, and Beck. If they are "fair and balanced" then I'd rather be a loony liberal. Thank you.
gets into the Senate where he can concentrate on his own benefits, perks, and kickbacks.
1. An idiot in the white house
2. An idiot as Minn. senator

And one sitting behind your keyboard. Please come back when you get an education.
I'd rather be a Socialist or even a Communist than be a Republican! Go Al Franken! Time for this country to CHANGE from the evil Bush years and rebuild!
I am happy but I would be happier if the Dems were not the new GOP and the new GOP were not such right wing loons.
senator franken, the 60th seat, who won in 2008,we won again gop you lost a buster proof senate, you lost a majority house, you lost the white house, you lost nevada, north carolina, indiana, virginia, ohio, colorado, and got destroyed in the past election, i got 2 words for the gop, george bush. go al franken
ahhh. the Dem's finally get even for the Gore 'loss' of 2000.
@Mich-
I can't fathom how you could possibly think Obama is destroying the Constitution "as Bush did" unless you are a Rush loving GOPer.
Rescueing our economy and its infrastructure from going into a depression has very little to do with the Constitution. Please sight one example of anything Obama has done to smite our Constitution.
With Franken that makes 60. Now maybe the democrats can stop the GOP effort, led by GOP Sen Grassley of Iowa, to RAISE TAXES on middle class health insurance benefits instead of having a public option that will keep insurance companies honest. It looks like the GOP would rather RAISE TAXES on middle class Americans to protect the obscene profits of insurance companies than give Americans a real choice.
Great. Just great. Now that the crazy liberal Franken is in office, watch Minnesota become the next state to allow all of the fruits and freaks to marry. Every degenerate shemale will be heading down to get their marriage certificate to become husband/wife with the next he/she.
I'm liking this. If Democrats they can pass legislation with "0", zip Republican support. hehehe
