WASHINGTON (CNN) - House Republican Leader John Boehner may win the Hill prize for participating in the best event over this congressional recess. Boehner played 18 holes with Tiger Woods and Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo at the Earl Woods Pro-Am golf tournament on Wednesday. The team finished their round 8 under par.
As he headed out to play at Congressional Country Club with Woods, Boehner tried to lower expectations about where he'd finish on the tournament's leaderboard. "Well, listen - I can be the Republican leader of the House, and we'll know about the golf course at the end of 18 holes."
The team played a "best ball" format for the charity event that precedes the AT&T National, the pro tournament hosted by Woods. The foursome, which also included Ton Dundon, CEO of Santander Consumer USA, was followed by huge crowds along the course, mostly straining to see Tiger Woods in action. But Boehner did show he could keep up with the golf star when he sank a 35 foot putt on the eighth hole for a birdie.

Im so proud of our Bhoner.
Put this on the sports page and see who even cares there! Didn't you forget to tell us what they were wearing at this historic event?
how can anyone on earth be proud of this mess, come cnn can you stop the maddness with john no class boehner, tiger woods what happen to you?
Boehner will make a fine prez in 2013.
Great!! Glad to hear he's out on the greens on our nickel instead of in his office where he can cause trouble! Bhoner...just keep swinging at those balls!
Are we sure Boehner didn't bribe the golf ball for that 35 foot putt on the 8th hole hehehe?
Why is Tiger being punished like this. Even our constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. Was Bonehead all that was left when it was Tigers turn to pick. I notice he had to tell everyone what a big deal Republican he was, which is kind of like saying I'm a tyrannosaurus rex these days.
Gary's comment is:
I wish Mr. Boehner would work as hard trying to play ball with the
President of bringing the two parties togeather on Health Care.
We in the need a new health care program over a birdie or hole in
one.
Geeze, shouldn't Boehner be more concerned about getting this economy back on track instead of playing golf with celebrities??
What a doofus!
He should be working. Obama has never golfed once in his term yet this guy can do that?
@Ohio redneck
LOL!! Sweet.
That's awesome.
I just lost respect for Tiger Woods!
Nice!
so, he sank a 35' putt, but did they win the pro-am event, lets go Cnn, gives us some details, this is big news..
Finally a job boehnor can handle.
We've got Cap and Tax, Health Care Reform, and potential wars, and the blog is focusing on golf. How about a comment on the taxes imposed on people making less than $250,000. A promise was made and already broken with the tobacco tax. Most smokers make less than $250,000. Your vacation funds will be used up in new taxes.
AND why is this news? Who really cares where the orange man is.
Congress seems to do everything but read the bills that they pass!!! How about until they start actually reading the bills before they vote they stop the golf, stop the trips to Italy etc. Get back to work. We pay these Senators a lot of money and they don't actually seem to work very long hours. They get premium health Insurance , $150-175K salaries, big staffs, big expense accounts and only seem to work 30 hours per week 30 weeks per year. Hardly seems like they earn their pay.
Associates with the RIGHT people.
Did CNN really give Boehner TWO ticker items for this non-story.
Well, I guess it does illustrate Boehner's uselessness as a Congressman.
I wonder if Boehner's speech got slurred by the time he got to the 18th hole.
How anyone can keep their head about them when paired with Tiger is beyond me. Then again, if you don't have a million dollar pay-off on the line, maybe it's easier.
Tiger: Please take him with you on the tour. Please!!!! He has done nothing in Washington, so maybe he can teach you how to pout and say NO. He is good at best bawl. He has been crying all year.
Nice to see Boehner found time to take a break from fearmongering and needless rambling to hit the links – I guess the only time members of the Party of No say yes to anything is when they're asked to play golf with celebrities.
Nice to see the ole guy has a lil' zip in his stride and perk in his swing.
