The Obama administration has premiered a new online tool that allows users to track the federal government's IT investments.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Obama administration is launching an "IT Dashboard" that increases access to information about the federal government's information technology spending and investment.

Using charts and graphs, the new dashboard displays IT information by federal agency or department. Users can also share or embed the charts on their own Web sites or blogs or on social sites including Facebook, Twitter, and delicious.

The dashboard also allows users to compile their own datasets based on the information available on the site. Once compiled, users can export their custom datasets as spreadsheets or receive the same information as an RSS feed.

The new site also plays host to a number of graphics that visualize for users detailed information about the federal government's IT portfolio.

The new dashboard is located at http://it.usaspending.gov/ and is part of USASpending.gov, a Web site that allows the public to access information about federal spending.

It really bothers the GOP that we actually have a president who is focused on improving America rather than continuing to let the greedy destroy this country. They will fault everything he does, have since the moment he took office. The faster we put these people on the sidelines and fix America, the more irrelevant they become.

Hey libs, don't get all excited yet and proclaim 'Transparency'. This is only for I.T. expenditures and not an accountability of the total budget."

Well, isn't that what Bush and Darth Cheney had been doing? You remember, don't you? When they left out the budget of 10 million dollars a month to Iraq?

CT Rez   July 1st, 2009 2:51 pm ET

Great. Now how about those Czar Salaries that are not in the budget.

Oh, and those bills you promised would be posted prior to a vote. Yeah, that would be terrific too. MMMM'kkkaayyyy?

Lori   July 1st, 2009 2:46 pm ET

"The new site also plays host to a number of graphics that visualize for users detailed information about the federal government's IT portfolio."

It seems like much of the government's IT portfolio is in India and China.

Steve   July 1st, 2009 2:43 pm ET

Maybe they can measure what percentage of IT work is done here vs the percentage done overseas. These are good jobs that used to here, but aren't anymore.

Fantastic!!. The best goverment in our history.

After just 6 months? Well let me ask you this. When are we getting the five days to review any bills BEFORE it is signed into law? Transparency or invisiable (can't see it because it don't exist)?

dominican mama 4 Obama   July 1st, 2009 2:37 pm ET

@ jeff:

Well said!

Bo Perdue   July 1st, 2009 2:33 pm ET

How many zillions did this cost for the TARP?

Hugo   July 1st, 2009 2:31 pm ET

Yes, yes advanced technology yes I see it! This is just another way the government can feed you exactly what they want you to see, hear, believe and touch without any opposition! Excellent transparency from a see-thru president, you truly are my hero Obamamancan! Speaking of transparency, I still would like for you to produce for the American people your passport, school records etc. Food for thought, if President Obama applied at a school as a foreign student and received federally subsidized grants or loans as such, would that be fraud?

Marcus, Great Lakes Illinois   July 1st, 2009 2:28 pm ET

Wow! I can understand how some of you are never invited to a party as you can't find a positive in anything or anyone. Pity that you are going to have to take those anti depressants for the next 3+ years.

The President delivered on his promise enough said.

Sanford is being a man and admitting his mistakes (many). He is not lying under oath like the Democratic Hero, Bill Clinton

---------------------------–

So, that's what makes you a man. You can cheat on your wife, but as long as you admit it...Robin thinks you're a man.

Anyone else having a hard time with these so called Rebuplican family values?

Randy   July 1st, 2009 2:22 pm ET

Does it shows that everything he has done has failed? Does it show housing going way down, unemployment going up, BKs going up and his poll numbers going down. Does it show that this goofball hippy has created more debt in 6months than has been done in 200 years

RGB in MN   July 1st, 2009 2:02 pm ET

A dashboard? Please. How about something tangible like lowering taxes, entitlemets and frivolous malpractice lawsuits by trial lawyers..

Marc   July 1st, 2009 1:45 pm ET

Jaz in Chitown – You're kidding right? You conservatives bought the Palin 'thanks but no thanks' stunt and kept endorsing it even after it was debunked, you rallied with her and shouted those vile, false and racist words against the then Dem candidate Barack Obama and went to the length of considering yourselves more 'Americans' than the other ones.
And we're the easiest bunch of people to play?
A tip: your meds aren't working today...

More transparency. Efficient at that.

Yeah... transparency. 1100-page energy bill, with 350 pages of ammendments added at 3 AM the morning it was voted on. Translucency is more like it.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   July 1st, 2009 1:37 pm ET

This is a 21st century Administration. Last week, the Pentagon finally created CYBERCOM to combat cyber terrorism threats. This new website will allow us to see how efficient the new military command post is and how much it's costing the taxpayer. I love it!

Not Buying IT   July 1st, 2009 1:33 pm ET

transparency.....who is this guy fooling....oh yeah....OBAMABOTS. His NON-stimulus bill was passed without giving anyone a chance to read it. His Energy Tax bill on All Americans had 300 pages added to it the morning just before the vote so no one could read it.

WhoCares?   July 1st, 2009 1:32 pm ET

Do conservatives hate everything?

I find their attitude on life really pathetic.

The person that hates never helps...and that is why the Libs are having to do everything now.

But we got our 60 now so hopefully we can stuff these Republicans in a storage locker somewhere and get down to fixing this country...instead of bombing others.

Willy Brown   July 1st, 2009 1:30 pm ET

ALL I would like to see MR PRESIDENT......is an honest chart on the TAX LEVY you are or are about to....place on the average American Tax Paying Citizen....as a result of your ABSURD :"SPENDING SPREE!" Transparent, Oh Sure........Working, Oh Sure....Trust Me, Oh Sure......Can't get things done "as quickly:" as I PROMISED YOU in my Election Campaign PROMISES....U BET ....MR PRESIDENT...it's not the 2 step you are doing....ITS the 5-10-15 Step Backward Dance you are doing. Promises are supposed to be KEPT last time I checked Mr. President. GOOD LUCK

Do we need to list the GOP's Adulterer's Roster?????

LacrosseMom   July 1st, 2009 1:16 pm ET

Its important to have information! So that we, the People, can see for ourselves what is actually being done, that way the GOP-liars can not fool us again!

dominican mama 4 Obama   July 1st, 2009 1:14 pm ET

@ robin

So if your husband (if you have one) admitted to you that he is being unfaithful to you, you would clap him on the back and say that he is being a man by confessing to his cheating? Not my definition of manhood. Being a man would entail keeping it in your pants in regards to other women/men if you're married.

The kool-aid is starting to sour in MA   July 1st, 2009 1:06 pm ET

@jeff

I am a dem from the democratic state of MA and let me tell you it isn't just the repubs who are upset with this President.

He has broken or is in the process of breaking so many campaign promises my head hurts. I voted for the man (after Hillary was out) but he is starting to make me wish I stayed home that day.

Cap and trade...can you all afford to pay double what your paying now in electricity? Just a sneaky way to get a tax increase in. If he taxes our health care plans (something while he was candidate said he wouldn't do yet now may do) that would tax the middle class.

That is just two (2) examples. What about the 5 day rule before voting and passing a law....gone!

The kool-aid I was forced to drink (after Hillary was shafted) is starting to sour!

changing my screen name to see if it helps getting my comments posted   July 1st, 2009 1:01 pm ET

@ Jaz in Chitown,

What about how the Rebuplicans got their constituents to believe socialism=communsim, or how they get their constituents to go to the beat of the drum for less government spending but a larger military budget, or how they consistently get poor uneducated people to vote against their best economic interests?

Don't any of those count?

Lynn   July 1st, 2009 1:00 pm ET

I'd much rather have President Obama's transparency than former President Bush's ANY DAY!

Marc in MS   July 1st, 2009 12:51 pm ET

Um, my question is: so what? What is this information intended for? If it's to let me know how much the federal government is spending on IT, I have no need for it, and neither do most people.

Melissa   July 1st, 2009 12:50 pm ET

Jeff, they think its a conspiracy because thats how Republicans behave. They'd rather stab people in the back than be honest and well behaved.

Jaz in Chitown   July 1st, 2009 12:50 pm ET

Wow, you liberals will fall for anything won't you? You've got to be the easiest bunch of people to play.

jeff   July 1st, 2009 12:47 pm ET

I get a kick out of the republicans. Obama is 100000% more transparent than any any other politician in recent history, yet according to them it's all just a big conspiracy. Apparently, the only thing that isn't a conspiracy to them is Haliburton getting oil contracts in Iraq and Paulsons friends getting rich of Bush's TARP.

David   July 1st, 2009 12:42 pm ET

I like this and hope that this tool will be rolled out across all government spending. Then there will be real accountability. Nice presentation of the IT investments, though!

Hugo   July 1st, 2009 12:37 pm ET

Meanwhile at the social security office, government retards send checks out to dead people. Further investigation reveals that Bernie Madoff was instrumental in developing the new Ponzi, err uhh, social security payout plan for the government. 33% unemployment and growing, pass the health care and cap and trade bills and watch that double Libbers!

David   July 1st, 2009 12:36 pm ET

The funny thing is Liberals will call this transparency even thought they have NO CLUE what any of it means. haha, i love it, it's like puppy love...

Proud Member..Party of No   July 1st, 2009 12:33 pm ET

lolol....yeah, like I trust any data coming out of this administration. What a bunch of clowns. And all the libs will be chirping about what a genius Obama is while he is picking their pockets clean.

Bob in Pa   July 1st, 2009 12:32 pm ET

All the great "magicians" of our time know this as "slight of hand" and "misdirection". Ooh, ahh, look over here at what I'm doing. Don't worry about that couple of billion dollars funding in that piece of legislation.

Dick Andrews   July 1st, 2009 12:31 pm ET

MJM   July 1st, 2009 12:28 pm ET

Are u kidding me? They are still only going to put on there just what they want you to see and not what is really going on. If we really knew what was going on in the government, I'm talking past and now, most people would die of a heart attack.

Jose in McAllen Tx   July 1st, 2009 12:27 pm ET

Hey libs, don't get all excited yet and proclaim 'Transparency'. This is only for I.T. expenditures and not an accountability of the total budget.

Bob in Pa   July 1st, 2009 12:26 pm ET

This isn't what we expected when BO said "transparency". Transparency that we want is the inner dealings of Agncies and Congress itself.

By the way, how much did we suckers out here pay for this beautiful new tool and how much will it cost us to maintain it ?

Kudos President Obama, you're doing a fabulous job.

I would much rather Obama live up to his promise of Bills being posted 5 days before they are voted on. Perhaps then our legislators would read a bill before voting on it

Way to go Mr. Prez.: 21st century transparency, just like you promised.
