as usual they continue to exaggerate and twist any logic into talking points and never anything meaningful. just same negative rhetoric!! so sad. Obama said from beginning the cure for the economy wasn't to be overnight. it took awhile to get into this ditch. which by the way was previosly condoned by the GOP now suddenly they are wringing their hands and telling the American people that the sky is falling!!! how covenient is that for the party of NO!!!!

No surprise, just more hypocrisy. If the RepubliCONS had it their way, the auto industry would've gone under taking hundreds of thousands of jobs with them. The GOP has zero solutions, only criticism. It's going to take a little longer than 6 months to undo the catastrophe caused by these same right-wingers that were at the wheel when they drove this country into the ditch with the Bush administration. I'm so sick of the Grand Obstructionist Party, I hope they all burn in hell for their lies, fear-mongering, and abuse of their duties as elected officials. And with a 60 member majority in the Senate, I hope Democrats ram every piece of conceivable legislation down the GOPPER'S throats, just like the right-wingers did during the Bush years, and just like how they would now if they had the majority.

Is Boehner middle-class America? Where is all the money spend on the war that was pushed by the Repubs. Where were job growth with the Bush Administration with the Repubs in charge. It took the Repubs eight years to mess up every thing. Give Obama a break he has been fighting for the American people and the Republican party since the day he took the oath (twice). Let Boehner and the other Repubs tells us how to make it work if they know how and stop counting on taking seats from the Democrats in 2010. Do something worthwhile now and if the Democrats fail you will have no problems winning the seats. Stop fighting the American people and hoping that Obama fails so you can be in power again. We are the people you are paid to help and work with the president who is trying to help every body. John and the rest of the party should have paid more attention to Bush and fought against him and his policies and just maybe things would have been better for everyone. Can this president do anything right to satisfy the opposing Republican Party?

Job losses hit a high point just before President Obama took office and have been declining ever since. In May there was a pretty significant drop, so June is simply higher than May but lower than any month since last September.

As for Boehner's question about the stimulus-created jobs: first, the Republicans and some state governors (like Sanford) have blocked stimulus funds to ensure that Obama is seen as a failure. Second, it took Bush and the neocons eight years to make these messes and there's not going to be a turnaround in a matter of months during the Obama administration. President Obama is smart, conscientious, and a hard worker, and the American people understand that undoing the Republican damage will take time.

If I recall only 3% of the stimulus mone has been put to use. 1/3rd of the American Auto industry is gone because we decided to build cars bigger and less fuel effiicient than needed. The reality no matter how you look at it....we won't get out of this mess over night!! But let me be the first to remind you, is it not Bank of America that is no playing commercials regarding credit opportunities?
It's easy to get mad and frustrated that we aren't seeing results as fast as we want to but again we didn't get into this mess overnight. And I love how the NRCC wants to continue to blame blame blame and not offer any real solutions. When the right wing can offer a solution that makes sense then I might just give you guys the floor to complain!

What a blowhard.

Actually, today's unemployment report should serve as a reminder of exactly what 8 long years of shoddy Republican mismanagement has done to the country and the sorry state to which our economy has been reduced under their watch.

The question about the stimulus jobs is valid. However, the larger unemployment trend was years in the making, and will take years to turn around. I work for a state government and we are being furloughed 16 days over the next two years--and we may not even be out of the woods then.

This guy should not even be in public office. He'a a jerk! If I lived in his state I would be out there picketing against him. I've listened to him many times on Meet the Press. Know when he's on I watch another channel. I WAS a republican who is now a registered dem. My former party are the pocket fillers who have been always been out for themselves. Are we paying for his tan. He's not even what I would call handsome. We need alot more new blood in Congress and the Senate. We middleclass people are getting sick of carrying every poor and rich person on our backs. Times will be changing and the polls are going to be proving that. I live in Arizona and I will continue to vote John McCain out of office until he's gone. This coming election will be the cream on the pudding. The person who started all this is Bush and all you republicians. We have a mess in our country caused by the lot of you. And what about Stranton, wasn't he one who condemmed Bill Clinton. God, talk about throwing sticks and stones.

Apparently the Republicans think their de-regulate and give more tax breaks to the rich mantra can still save us from our folly. This idea - if I the other side wrong then my side is right - has lost its bloom. Plenty of blame to go around guys.

Once again....the pot calling the kettle black. But I guess it's ok when they gave billions of money to their friends which they didn't have to account for. Let's not forget the numerous tax cuts the rich were rewarded to 'create jobs'....that's your claim to fame, so where exactly are those jobs?? Stimulus might have been to small (due to somebody contributing nothing and trying to block it..wonder who that was), and many economists think there needs to be another because things were/are that bad. Repubs can continue to armchair quarterback because when it comes to trusting them to fix anything, I for one still think they should all be replaced for the mess they've created.

Mr. Boehner, must have been difficult to tear yourself away from the golf course and study up for this rebuttal on the unemployment rate.
Oh, I forgot, all you needed to do was open the SINGLE file that has the GOP talking points, as they are simply regurgitated election points that got NOWHERE!

Tell us about your day with TIGER!! Way more interesting than the same old boring rhetoric you keep spewing.

How is it that they feel the can slam the Dems for a situation for which they are still responsible? And, oh by the way, the Dems have only been in charge for 6 and a half months. Oh, I forgot, math isn't their strong suite as evidenced by their proposed budget with no numbers.

It was too small. It needed to be bigger and more comprehensive- most economist said that all along. The problem is that one party will oppose anything the other party does- meanwhile the other party has no guts to do what it takes.

Gee, Boehner doesn't get it. Without all this wonderfully effective stimulus spending, we'd have lost about 7 million jobs so far this year. That would have more than doubled the jobs lost in 2008 under Bush. Obama has managed through this truly effective program to limit his losses to a figure that just exceeds Bush's by 10% (and in only 6 months at that).

Come on John, with this great success, let's create another $1 trillion in deficit spending so we can all pay the higher taxes required to repay the debt.

Republicans. . . Blah, blah, blah. . .spending. . .blah, blah, blan. . .future generations. . .blah, blah, blah. . . all year long ??? HUH???
Obama took the oath in January. It is now just the 4th of July weekend. Yes, it's all year, but only 5 months realistically. What took eight years of careful planning by the party of NO is certainly going to take longer than 5 months to correct.

Well done Republicans. You are stuck on BLAH!
Go back to your summer hide-aways and let the Obama government do what he said they could do.

It is so unusual for any republican to recognize that middle class America is hurting when we have been ignored for eight years.
If the republicans do not stop all the obstruction, negativity, ranting anger, distortions and doom, it is going to take even longer to
recover. They need to, for once in their political lives, represent
us and our country and we need to continue to let them know
we will no longer allow big business, lobbyists, special interests
run our country.
Their concern about us is way too little and way too late.

I can't believe republicans could be so obtuse....it was their lack of management skills that got us into this economic mess. They should be ashamed of themselves, 70% of the voting population understand this fact because we can download any vote, any legislation, any interview, and quote through the Internet. Wake up republicans, this mess is your fault, not President Obama. Bush/Cheney 8 years, President Obama 5 months in office.

"Today's employment report reminds us that spending, taxing, and borrowing with reckless abandon is no way to create more jobs, yet that is exactly what Democrats in charge of Washington have done all year long," House Minority Leader John Boehner said in a statement.

Wrong again Boner!
Today's unemployment numbers remind every one of us in the middle class of how the GOP has squandered all our futures by being in bed with Wall St. and greedy CEO's that take obscene profits while the well being of the middle class spiraled down the toilet!

And now these pigs at the trough are complaining that the current administration isn't sweeping up the mess after their 8-year elephant parade fast enough - what a crock of you know what!

Please give me a break it was a Republican President and six years of Republican control Congress who put this country in the second great Depression anyway.

My question to Rep, Boehner when will the GOP quit trying to blame everybody else for the mess that President George W. Bush left for President Obam?

Sen. Boehner, have you ever had an economics course?

That is a rhetorical question by the way. I know you haven't. The unemployment rate is what's called a lagging indicator. It typically doesn't improve until well after an economic recovery is underway. It has to do with the fact that businesses don't like to hire new staff until they absolutely have to. They will exhaust their surplus and have current staff work overtime before they sink money into new workers.

Here's a question for you. What jobs would be created from massive tax cuts to wealthy individuals that do not own and opporate business? Specifically, what jobs would Rush Limbaugh be creating if he had, say, a 10% on his taxes. And how would his spending of said wealth be any different then pork-barrel spending of a Democrat representative?

Funny coming from the hypocrites that spent money for eight years like there was no end. Boehner is such a whiner. What plan does the Greedy Old Party have? He has no plan and that is why the GOP is fading. Just to attack the other party is not good enough. If they have a better plan, then present the data and stand behind it.

So what you are saying is that racking up massive national debt, strangling businesses with new regulations, raising taxes on the few profitable busineeses that still exist, the White House firing CEOs, trying to socialize medicine, furthering the unions' agenda, and confiscating private businesses isn't the solution to a recession? Clearly, the Democrats are not giving us the change we need.

Oh, give me a break. These Republicans drove this Nation into the ditch. And now they have the gall to complain about job losses under Obama?? The carnage we are witnessing today is the legacy of their past failures. We all deserve their silence for a very, very long time. And six months does not constitute a long time!

Rep Boner,

You need to get some more slack out of your gamesmanship, so please get back to your putting glory and long-drive practice. Tiger, do us a favor and take this guy along as often as you can---keep him out of our faces.

You don't get get jobs by just throwing money at corporations and asking then to do something useful with it. There must be conditions attached to the acceptance of the money, something the Obama administration seems to have forgotten !

And of course, the good frontpage story on CNN this morning on this issue has already been buried by a story on Air France.

Then again, we could use France as an omen for what's to come in the U.S....

Come on, did you really believe that the stimulus was going to create jobs?? It was typical politics. Government does not know how to spend our money better than we do! Give Americans their money back and let them spend it thus creating jobs. Where are all the Libs screaming about the wasted stimulus money. Are your voices still too hoarse from screaming for 8 years about Bush's wasteful spending? Bunch of HYPOCRITES!!!!!!

We were told things would get worse before they got better. For a party with no solutions they expect immediate results. No one is going to forget whose incompetence created this mess. If the g.o.p. cared about this country they would look for ways to contribute instead just constant whining.

"Committee also released a statement noting Obama administration officials once claimed the stimulus bill would contain the unemployment rate under 8 percent"

The Obama administration lied to us to pass legislation and the American people are suffering for it.

I'm sure there are still enough "blame it on Bush" cards to be played, isn't there?

Yes, I'm sure Boehner is truly interested in the welfare of the unemployed, the day after he played a nice round of golf with Tiger Woods. You don't get to be a 7 handicap by dedicating yourself to fixing the nation's financial crisis. It's much easier just to whine about it on the fairway.
