How anyone can stick up for this whack job Palin is also quite bizarre! And anyone who would say that she is more intellegent than Obama or Biden cant be too sharp themselves or havnt been paying attention. Something is about to come out very damaging about Palin. She craves the spotlight and all the sudden she wants out of it? There is much more to this story. Btw, she had trouble finishing community college. Obama graduated from Harvard. She isnt smart enough to turn her quiting the governorship into a political chess move. She will get eaten alive!

Don't be lulled into complacency Dems......Always remember it's about the art of the game with Repubs......It's not about 'family values'.....It's not about the so labeled 'opulent spending' of this administration......It's about being in power.....Winning takes precedent over country, integrity, values, etc......Case in point; they applauded John McCain when he flaunted Palin on center stage, knowing full well after two weeks, that she had the class and savvy of a pin-up doll...... Their plan now (having no other standout choices) is to groom her into a worthy opponent for the President.....It won't matter to them that she has again been scripted.....And though she'll have traveled abroad more, learned some new big words, and adopted a few 'fall-back' phrases, she'll still be the same whiplash-talking right wing riotous rebellion spouting Christian.......They'll throw her out there as if she's got more to offer than even then Senator Clinton had at the height of the primaries...... Republicans have no shame, no more class, and no consciences.....They still tote their Bibles, but I would wonder when was the last time any of them took the time to read them.....Mainly the passages that talk about not lying, cheating, bearing false witness, etc......Just thinking out loud....

What's funny is the people on here who think she still has a chance at the Presidency in 2012. If Sarah Palin made this decision for herself, her family, and her beliefs, I have all the respect in the world for her and wish her the best of luck in everything she does. HOWEVER if she thinks she has a shot AT ALL at the Presidency, she's sadly mistaken. She's left her post, for better or worse, and THAT along from the 2008 election stigma has doomed her chances. Any party who nominates her is throwing their nomination away. Don't get me wrong; she'll attract the same voting bloc that loved her 6 months ago. She'll never CHANGE MINDS to support her (at least not enough) with this latest move. It's just common sense.

I thought she made it very plain in her statement. She will not allow any more money from the taxpayers to be used for defending stupid aligations. 2 million dollars is an awful lot in todays recession. Sarah knows what she is doing. She is saving the taxpayers money and will save her familys money. 2 million of taxpayer money and half a million of her own money. Why and who can fault her for that?

So instead of honoring her committment and working to find solutions, she quits. Real honorable. Your excuse for her is laughable.

Sarah – I am not aware of anyone as self-serving as Sarah Palin. She reminds me of someone – who knows they are unqualified, but is determined to ride the wave until she ship wrecks.
She might have a lot to offer in 5 years or more, but the first thing she needs to do is become qualified for any political office. I don't think she is a role model, just an opportunist. She doesn't care about anyone but herself and her ambitions.
In this country, we need people who have some intellectual depth. President Obama is a one of a kind LEADER!!! Don't begin to think you can do what he did. He was his time and he prepared himself for his moment. If Sarah Palin really cared about our country, she would truly prepare herself and then people may begin to take her seriously and stop trying to be something she is do – INTELLECT. And since when is taking care of your man a family value, and then she has no compassion for others. She is a mess!!! Not a good role model at all.

My niece (who lives in Alaska) told me by phone that she felt relieved that Sarah Palin resigned. She said that Palin destroyed their government's office of foreign affairs by cutting that budget to a one person office. My niece explained that Alaska needs foreign relations for trade but Palin missed the point of how important foreign trade is to Alaska. ( I am being polite and restating my niece's statements to keep the profanity out.) I may not have stated the correct government office title but you all understand what I mean. I am thrilled that Palin has had to resign. I am not a supporter of the religious far right trying to take over our country. She represents that group. All civil servants, elected or appointed must not overstept the first amendment. The religious far right wants her to be their leader. Oh, please God NO..o…o..o.. Palin's stepping down should hurt the representation of the Christian far right as well as the Repub's. I hope, I hope...but the Repub's are not so smart.

I wouldn't blame her at all if she decided to resign because she was tired of all the disgusting and slanted media coverage she gets. I have never in my 55 years seen a candidate so vilified, and for what? what did she ever do to deserve the LOATHING of the chattering class?

as it happens I do not agree with Sarah on 90% of the issues, but I admire her for being true to herself . politician, wife, mother, patriot...I can't understand why she inspires such hatred.

btw: I am really amazed at the number of psychiatrists and psychologists we have in America today.
