How anyone can stick up for this whack job Palin is also quite bizarre! And anyone who would say that she is more intellegent than Obama or Biden cant be too sharp themselves or havnt been paying attention. Something is about to come out very damaging about Palin. She craves the spotlight and all the sudden she wants out of it? There is much more to this story. Btw, she had trouble finishing community college. Obama graduated from Harvard. She isnt smart enough to turn her quiting the governorship into a political chess move. She will get eaten alive!

We have bigger problems. The President avoided a financial meltdown. He inherited a mess. She's just a small state governor who is very inexperienced. Let's not overrate her. She's insignificant.

I don't know why people are infatuated with her. She clearly doesn't have the intellect to make major decisions the will effect the lives of others. Now we know she doesn't have the integrity to finish a job she was commited to. I think she should take care of her beautiful family and figure out what she is good at. It won't be as President that's for sure.

I'm with you Paul. What I heard her say is: she can't do any good for the people while trying to fight the moronic news media with their attacks on her and her family! She is going to step out of the limelight so she can hopefully do some good without all the attention of the morons, that can't believe someone really cares and wants to make a difference. She is speaking words of love, but you don't hear it!
What is your hidden agenda Begala? What have you accomplished?

YOU GO SARAH!! SOME OF US DO UNDERSTAND AND BELIEVE IN YOU, AND PRAY THERE IS SOMEONE IN POLITICS THAT CAN'T BE BOUGHT!

Don't be lulled into complacency Dems......Always remember it's about the art of the game with Repubs......It's not about 'family values'.....It's not about the so labeled 'opulent spending' of this administration......It's about being in power.....Winning takes precedent over country, integrity, values, etc......Case in point; they applauded John McCain when he flaunted Palin on center stage, knowing full well after two weeks, that she had the class and savvy
of a pin-up doll......

Their plan now (having no other standout choices) is to groom her into a worthy opponent for the President.....It won't matter to them that she has again been scripted.....And though she'll have traveled abroad more, learned some new big words, and adopted a few 'fall-back' phrases, she'll still be the same whiplash-talking right wing riotous rebellion spouting Christian.......They'll throw her out there as if she's got more to offer than even then Senator Clinton had at the height of the primaries......

Republicans have no shame, no more class, and no consciences.....They still tote their Bibles, but I would wonder when was the last time any of them took the time to read them.....Mainly the passages that talk about not lying, cheating, bearing false witness, etc......Just thinking out loud....

What's funny is the people on here who think she still has a chance at the Presidency in 2012.

If Sarah Palin made this decision for herself, her family, and her beliefs, I have all the respect in the world for her and wish her the best of luck in everything she does.

HOWEVER if she thinks she has a shot AT ALL at the Presidency, she's sadly mistaken. She's left her post, for better or worse, and THAT along from the 2008 election stigma has doomed her chances.

Any party who nominates her is throwing their nomination away. Don't get me wrong; she'll attract the same voting bloc that loved her 6 months ago. She'll never CHANGE MINDS to support her (at least not enough) with this latest move. It's just common sense.

Had any of this stuff been directed at the Obama family David Letterman and the likes would be joing the other unemployed in America.

sk July 3rd, 2009 5:35 pm ET

I thought she made it very plain in her statement. She will not allow any more money from the taxpayers to be used for defending stupid aligations. 2 million dollars is an awful lot in todays recession. Sarah knows what she is doing. She is saving the taxpayers money and will save her familys money. 2 million of taxpayer money and half a million of her own money. Why and who can fault her for that?

---

So instead of honoring her committment and working to find solutions, she quits. Real honorable. Your excuse for her is laughable.

Amen, to DNC Spokesman Brad Woodhouse! You nailed it Brad. Little 'innocent' Sarah broke out on the national stage with attacks against the media, attacks against President Obama, and attacks against a whole lot of good people whose only crime was to help "organize their communities". But community organizers defended their views and beat Palin at the poles where the fight really counts.

When the going gets tough, Sarah Palin quits. She's erratic and a quitter, not exactly the qualities I'm looking for in a national leader.

But for the gop, as desperate as they are, they will no doubt still promote this quitter. Heck, they hold on to cheats and liars by pardoning them with lame excuses - see newt gingrich. Their principles are only strong in their rhetoric and setting standards for others - their actions say otherwise. I'm sure they'll find excuses for a quitter too. She couldn't even finish a one year committment she made to the state of Alaska. Bye bye credibility.

She left for her state. There was so many bogus ethic claims from the Dems that it was taking too much time and money from her state. The Dems are so scared of her they did what they know best, underhandedness. Too bad they picked on the wrong person. She'll be back and it won't be as Gov. as Alaska, it will be bigger. Watch out Obama!!!

Good for you Sarah!!! The Dems are so scared they wouldn't leave her alone. They spend more time dumping on Sarah than they do their jobs, which consists of spending our money and travelling while spending our money. It's funny how they have the poor people in their pocket while they're spending the poor people's money.

Tea Party tomorrow!!!!! Let's be heard.

The DNC and the Professional Liberal Bloggers are going to hammer the idea of bizarre behavior. What on Earth are they talking about? If they trash her enough, like they've done President Bush, they think people will believe them. The thing is, they have enough money from Soros and others to destroy someone. Look at the frivolous lawsuits her family has had to spend thousands on. As she said, today's politics is bad news.
She's interesting, though, so watch out!

Sarah - I am not aware of anyone as self-serving as Sarah Palin. She reminds me of someone - who knows they are unqualified, but is determined to ride the wave until she ship wrecks.
She might have a lot to offer in 5 years or more, but the first thing she needs to do is become qualified for any political office. I don't think she is a role model, just an opportunist. She doesn't care about anyone but herself and her ambitions.
In this country, we need people who have some intellectual depth. President Obama is a one of a kind LEADER!!! Don't begin to think you can do what he did. He was his time and he prepared himself for his moment. If Sarah Palin really cared about our country, she would truly prepare herself and then people may begin to take her seriously and stop trying to be something she is do - INTELLECT. And since when is taking care of your man a family value, and then she has no compassion for others. She is a mess!!! Not a good role model at all.

Yes this is a bizarre pattern. However, it is consistent with that Lady you received her only precious bachelors from about 10 different community colleges. I was not expecting her to finish her term as the governor of Alaska. Had sen McCain been elected, gov Palin would have also stepped down by now to prepare herself for another adventure. Welcome gov Pain. Should my guess be right, you will be running for 2012. I really hope that you earn the nomination. Really, from the bottom of my heart I hope that you are the republican party standard bearer for 2012. Lord knows!

Three things cover this:
1) She just isn't smart enough to go any further politically. Just listen closely to this last speech..drivelling..blather..that is actually somewhat embarassing for someone in this position of authority.
2) She took a FOUR YEAR job...and she's QUITTING!!! To me this is inexcusable.
3) THERE IS MORE TO THIS...Trust me. Either she or her husband have done something they shouldn't have....JUST WAIT...IT's COMING!!!

2) She took a FOUR YEAR job...and she's QUITTING!!! To me this is inexcusable.
3) THERE IS MORE TO THIS...Trust me. Either she or her husband have done something they shouldn't have....JUST WAIT...IT's COMING!!!

I agree, the DNC response is a sign that there is a concern about Palin running for office. The best response would have been silence. However, we showed there are some in the party who feel we should kick her when she is down. Since when did we become the bullys? I think our roles have reversed with the Republicans. LOL. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

For all of you stating that the U.S. is a mess since Obama took over, he is actually dealing with the mess created by that bozo predecessor of his. You had that moronic jerk at the helm for 8 years. What do you expect? He not only left the U.S. in ruins, but the Middle East for that matter. Where's Osama??

Secondly, Sarah Palin has no hope in Hell of ever winning the White House, especially against someone as bright, capable, and popular as Barack Obama. Palin is none of those things, well, maybe except popular as she had been great material for Tina Fey and the like. What a narcissistic, delusional, foolish woman.

I say, Palin, run! You'll embarrass yourself more than you ever had. It will be fun to watch you self-destruct!! Give 'er, Sarah!!

My niece (who lives in Alaska) told me by phone that she felt relieved that Sarah Palin resigned. She said that Palin destroyed their government's office of foreign affairs by cutting that budget to a one person office. My niece explained that Alaska needs foreign relations for trade but Palin missed the point of how important foreign trade is to Alaska. ( I am being polite and restating my niece's statements to keep the profanity out.) I may not have stated the correct government office title but you all understand what I mean.

I am thrilled that Palin has had to resign. I am not a supporter of the religious far right trying to take over our country. She represents that group. All civil servants, elected or appointed must not overstept the first amendment. The religious far right wants her to be their leader. Oh, please God NO..o…o..o.. Palin's stepping down should hurt the representation of the Christian far right as well as the Repub's. I hope, I hope...but the Repub's are not so smart.

when I heard Palin announce this, I wondered how the Democrats were going to spin it, and now we know.

I wouldn't blame her at all if she decided to resign because she was tired of all the disgusting and slanted media coverage she gets. I have never in my 55 years seen a candidate so vilified, and for what? what did she ever do to deserve the LOATHING of the chattering class?

as it happens I do not agree with Sarah on 90% of the issues, but I admire her for being true to herself . politician, wife, mother, patriot...I can't understand why she inspires such hatred.

btw: I am really amazed at the number of psychiatrists and psychologists we have in America today. I can see from these comments that many of you have specific opinions about Sarah's mental state. that's amazing that you can diagnose her without ever having actually, you know, MET her. where did you all get your degrees, anyway?

Governor Palin made the smartest Political move for the Republican Party Ticket now and 2012 Presidential Election and to sell a book for $7 million, if she has to run against Obama, who I voted for, or against Hillary Clinton who I did not vote for, but Hillary Clinton has the one job now that qualifies a woman to be president of the United States and if the Republican Party was not so prejudice they would have talked Condalisa Rice into running in the Primary Election against Obama and Hillary because Rice's job put her in the category of women like Margaret Thatcher in the Argentina war and Golden Mier in the Olympic Terrorists attack! WAKE UP REPUBLICAN'S I DON'T LIKE THE SOCIALIST Democrats that followed President Bush's example of "Welfare for Corporate Fat Cats that ship American jobs overseas along with the Manufacturing equipment and our national Resources for CHEAP LABOR! If any Country other than the U.S.A. is importing more than they are exporting plus exporting American jobs, please let me know so I can visit them in the Mental Ward because if a Country's tax base relies on income taxes and you don't let the American workers earn income we are going to go broke with paper money not worth the paper it is printed on and HYPER Inflation to replace a Recession!
