GOP sources tell CNN Palin will not seek re-election.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is expected to announce Friday that she will not seek a second term, three sources tell CNN.

Palin has scheduled a 3 p.m. ET news conference at her home in Wasilla. The governor’s office offered no further details about the subject of the news conference, but the sources tell CNN that Palin will announce her decision to forgo another run.

"She thinks she has accomplished goals she has set forward," one of the sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said. "She sees what a positive influence she has had on people's lives from traveling the country in the last year."

As the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, Palin is considered one of the frontrunners for the GOP nomination in 2012. Her decision not to seek another term as governor is sure to stoke speculation that Palin is seriously eyeing a run for the White House.

Its funny how whenever a political figure like Palin is brought up in any article or any other criticism on the right they somehow have to bring Obama into the story....its like they have really nothing better to think of.

look the sky is blue........its Obamas fault

water is wet.....................its Obamas fault

leafs fall of a tree............its Obamas fault

People the article is about Palin!! nobody els so please don't try and divirt the issue.
P.S. to my favorite phoenix 86 we know you don't like colored folk, we really get it.

emile   July 3rd, 2009 4:58 pm ET

Yeah, that's VITRIOL.

PS, it's a good idea to use words that you can spell when you're trying to make a point in a political discussion. You've already mastered the caps lock key, so you're a step ahead of most subliterate republitards on the internet.

Funny, the vast majority of the supporters of right wing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran were poor, uneducated rural people. We have the same problem in this country. Why is it that so many right wingers are uneducated hicks? I guess they are the only ones dumb enough to swallow the GOPs ridiculous nonsense.

pam   July 3rd, 2009 4:58 pm ET

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. The vitriol on both ends ot fhe political spectrum (here and elsewhere) is truly embarassing. Methinks that the truly wise and articulate can't be bothered posting on these smear sites, but for myself, I like to read to see what folks are saying. This topic is no different than others. Our collective ignorance and pettiness belies our place on the food chain!
If you believe that Obama has brought the change you were seeking, then good for you. I, for the first time in my adult life, am afraid for my country. We are being dragged down and there is no one standing up to the "President." No on on either side of the aisle .. it's absolutely disgraceful.
As for Palin – I'm no fan, but if Obama can hunker down for a few months and get himself 'up to speed' on issues ('here's what you should say....') then I'd bet a buck Palin can do the same. She can learn to speak better publicly (for you apoplectic democrats – love to see you foam with hate ! It's BDS all over again!) and since she has way more chutzpah than O, she may have a shot at it.
We'll see if the republicans can float someone other than a so-called church going do-gooder whose repressed sexuality lands him on PRIME TIME like cellulite photos on the cover of the National Enquirer.
God helps us all. We don't have a candidate worthy of our support.

Jessica   July 3rd, 2009 4:56 pm ET

She represents the extreme right conservative wing – the equivalent of an American Taliban – and this is coming from a Jesus loving Christian. I'd say let her run – perhaps it will rid the party of this toxic constituence. People bash Bush all the time, and I do agree that he made mistakes although I supported him. Our republican party needs someone stronger to go against BHO. He's a machine.

Josh   July 3rd, 2009 4:55 pm ET

Maybe shes taking a sabbatical because of the videogame she has coming out called Bulletwitch? In any case, I hope she takes a trip to Russia and gets lost in an avalanche. We already had 8 years of "W" and I am pretty sure we don't need another buffon in politics. Maybe she can get a job as a stunt double for Tina Fey?

Republican Mess   July 3rd, 2009 4:51 pm ET

Hopefully she is planning a tour to teach young people the benefits of birth control!

Palin along with her fans are all dumb religious hypocrites.

selina   July 3rd, 2009 4:49 pm ET

WOW! I have read some of the comments here & I have to say the liberal vitreal (sp?) is disgusting! ARE YOU LIBERALS ALL THAT UNHAPPY? Seriously, she is the barbie doll epitome of exactly what all women's lib'bers have promoted for decades....strong woman, career, family, success, and balls bigger than a man. To oppose her so bitterly as many of you have means that she threatens you. I find that so immature and emotionally based. Liberals need to grow up. I'll go ahead and tune CNN off again for a few months.

It just amazes me that people are still going on and on about "President Obama ruining our country and socialism and… whatever! That Obama followers are fools and we will find out in the long run." The man is doing EXACTLY what the MAJORITY of the American People want! Do you still fail to understand that this is WHY he was elected?!? President Obama is not evil… YOU, rather, are the minority. Get over it!

You have got to be kidding me, the MAJORITY of American people do not want big government, big government spending, no action taken on threats like North Korea and Iran, TRIPLELING the deficit, driving DOWN the economy,... do you FAIL to understand this is NOT why he was elected. .. He represented CHANGE well you got your change, he has done nothing but worsen an already bad situation, I'm not going to say he is evil and i do not want him to fail, at the same time i think he has already failed and hope he is not re elected.....NOW WE TRULY NEED CHANGE.... Obama is an in experienced coward and a fool, 143 days as congressman.. He clearly did not and does not represent what americans want.... what we want is him GONE

SeaninOrlando   July 3rd, 2009 4:45 pm ET

Um "JeffinDenver", way to fall for the FoxNews propaganda machine.

Sarah Palin is in no way a "change" from the way our country has been run when it was run by conservatives, unless you mean change for the worse- she has no clue what it means to actually GOVERN, just ask Alaskans.

I hope she does run, it'll be the funniest thing ever to see Sarah Palin debating Barack Obama.

jwninsouthcarolina   July 3rd, 2009 4:43 pm ET

May be she wants to spend some time in Argentina!

Paul   July 3rd, 2009 4:39 pm ET

Sarah Palin: Forcing rape victims to give birth to the rapist's babies in the name of pro-life values.

What a nightmare. Liberals are scared of her because she wants to take away their freedoms in the name of her God, but she also has a snowballs chance in hell of winning over the moderates of this country. The neo-cons will dance around her and the true small-government Republicans will balk at the level of social control she wants the government to have over people.

The neo-cons better hope and pray that Americas economy goes down the tubes, because if we start to see recovery by 2012 then they won't stand a chance at getting their hands around the neck of American society to instill their own twisted ideals of morality. Of course, it's been fairly obvious that since McCain lost that neo-cons want America and its economy to fail so that they can blame the liberals and reclaim power.

Personally, I hope we see moderate Democrats and Republicans come together as a new third party, one who's goals are to shrink the government down while increasing freedom and equality by finally supporting issues such as same-sex marriage.

ConcernedAmerican   July 3rd, 2009 4:37 pm ET

An aside to those of you out there to whom this applies, liberals and conservatives alike:

If you are trying to convince people that you are educated enough to have a learned political opinion, you might want to take some orthography lessons or use a spell check before posting to CNN.

JeffinDenver   July 3rd, 2009 4:36 pm ET

Ms. Palin represents REAL change and hope. She is not a fraud like so many current national leaders. She reminds me that this country truly needs someone like her who would stand tall for our troops, some one who would ACT tough, and not just speak well, against America's enemies and someone who is NOT a big spending liberal. Communtiy organizing? Pooh... ! God pray for this country. Alaska will miss executive her efficiency and effectiveness. If she decides to run for President I will support her and I am a DEMOCRAT!

Richie   July 3rd, 2009 4:34 pm ET

Can we finally stop hearing about her now?

Chris is Laughing   July 3rd, 2009 4:33 pm ET

This is just the precursor to a big bombshell that has yet to be dropped. You don't quit with 1.5 years left in your term and expect to run for president. We're missing a critical piece of information – and I think when that bomb shell drops we're all going to be laughing!

Tatianna   July 3rd, 2009 4:32 pm ET

For the past 8 years and beyond, dems hatred towards an opposing political party has divided this nation. Embrace your hate. Enjoy your hate. Relinquish it. Your hate will kill you before the rest of us die! Its tempting to believe reps will never sit in the Oval Office and gain majority of congress. 52 percent of American electorate has run around like a bunch of howling ninnies chanting likdd a horde of Jim Jones followers, who cant get enough of the poison kool-aid. For the first time in my adult life, I am not proud of my country having Obama as president.

jt   July 3rd, 2009 4:32 pm ET

Flaky – to say the least. Alaska will be a much better place.

Anonymous.   July 3rd, 2009 4:32 pm ET

It appears there is a leaked photo of Sarah Palin doing er... fellatio to a man.

It's on google images.
"Forget Nailin Palin, why not see the real thing?"

Could this be the reason why she resigned?

chuck   July 3rd, 2009 4:31 pm ET

HA HA HA.. LOL – QUITTER – she QUIT! She had a conference to explain that QUITTING is GOOD. Are you Kidding me? What kind of self serving dribble drabble.... what a load of alaskan buck s*it.

She wants to put government in the hands of private enterprises. Was she asleep for the last eight years. Government in the Hands of Madoff, MCI and Enron. She is a day late and years behind and can't even finish her own terms.

The worst part is that her fan base are a bunch of looney quitter whiners too, blaming their troubles on anything that doesn't look like them. YUCK YUCK YUCK. You betcha!

Palin_is_a_loser   July 3rd, 2009 4:31 pm ET

Right wing nuts / losers,

It doesn't matter what you say... until at least 2016, it's pay back time!

Until then, cling on to your guns & religion, and keep touching yourself! You will feel better! :)

MCD, San Francisco, CA   July 3rd, 2009 4:29 pm ET

YOU, rather, are the minority. Get over it!

As to Palin, I think she was used by the Republican Party. BUT, I also think that her big ego let her believe, fasely, that she was actually qualified in the first place.

Palin_is_a_loser   July 3rd, 2009 4:24 pm ET

Despite the pretty face, there is little doubt that she touches herself just as much as anyone else! :)

Now, she has more time to cling to guns and religion! She is the best way to send the right wing nuts back to the Stone Age!

kate   July 3rd, 2009 4:24 pm ET

She had hardly any experience when she ran with McCain and now she's quitting early, making sure she REALLY won't have the experience or knowledge in 2012. Someone please explain to me why anyone would want a president who quits their job, leaving those who voted for her in the cold, to pursue her own selfish self-interests. Leaving Obama hatred aside, someone please explain how that's a good thing!!!!

If she plans on running in 2012, I sure hope she's taking some time off for an education. Starting with high school government would be a good start.

Jerry, St. Louis   July 3rd, 2009 4:23 pm ET

Maybe she just wants to take off some time to kill some bears, wolves, moose, caribou, and anything else that gets in her sights. Wouldn't it be great if Sarah and Dick went on a hunting trip together?
Maybe by 2012 Sarah will be pregnant and she can stand before her adoring followers patting her belly and saying ' look what a good christian I am'.

JP   July 3rd, 2009 4:16 pm ET

Thanx Sarah!

Finally something upstaged the smarmy homosexual, drug-addict, child molestor MJ coverage.

Some here still badmouth her as not qualified as POTUS, but Obama's only qualification is that he's black. She's far more qualified than he ever was.

Maybe she wants to take care of the child that Obama worshippers would have killed and tossed in a garbage grinder.

Maybe she figures she accomplished the goals she ran for in the first place and has no interest in being a PERMANENT, CAREER politician. If that's the case, GOOD FOR HER!

Maybe she just said to heck with it after winning all her court suits brought by the Dimmocrats.

Or maybe, she's going to do a Ronald Reagan on the NEW Jimmy Carter: Barack Obama. That's something for you commie wannabes to worry about.

Thomas   July 3rd, 2009 4:15 pm ET

It's all about PR !

A bright shining lie!

Niki Birdsflight   July 3rd, 2009 4:15 pm ET

I just remember that she had offers to go into talk shows....that may be her goal. Surely she knows her political life is dead so she may go to ....Sarahwood....where she can ...shine...and make money. Why not ? we are used to idiots in the limelight....and they make money. Bet it's her new goal. She better grab it before she gets too old. She is on the verge of not being a marketing entity. Look at these fools in reality shows...they make a ton of money because idiots are watching. Sarah Palin would be perfect until she gets too old. Hurry up Sarah! Grab at your last chance to make a buck.

Jason Johnston   July 3rd, 2009 4:14 pm ET

There are two reasons for all of the negativity directed at Sarah Palin: (1) the news media's biased portrayal of her as ignorant, and (2) because she is a conservative. These have caused the naive news audience to uncritically assume that she is unintelligent and therefore unqualified for the executive office.

Defending this truth would only fall on deaf ears (Obama could have been made to look stupid by anyone who wanted to: consider his claim that there were 57 states, giving region 1 DVDs to Gordon Brown, being overly dependent on teleprompter, mistaking a White House window for a door, consistently saying that the Iraq War was lost but then taking credit for winning the war in his Sovereignty Day speech, et al.).

Unthoughtful bullying liberals just beat their chests and scream names at Palin like "idiot" and "moron" and then assume that they've won the argument. However, the fact of the matter is, liberals voted for an obviously unqualified man has made his share of mistakes (for example, pushing through a stimulus package that hasn't produced of the projected results) and has broken multiple campaign promises already (why aren't liberals anyone upset that Obama is going to "indefinitely detain" Guantanamo detainees? The news told us that the coutry was outraged and embarrassed about Guantanamo. What happened?). But no one knows this stuff because they only pay attention to liberal mainstream media which ignores Obama's missteps to make liberals think that he is smart and intellectual.

Sarah Palin is a great and successful woman who has done many things to help Alaska. She would finely govern the U.S. if she were voted in as president in 2012 (even if conservative-hating Charlie Gibson wrongfully assumed that there was a settled definition of "The Bush Doctrine" in his interview with Palin and even if she responded awkwardly to anti-conservative Katie Couric's ridiculous questions).

If she ran for president, I would proudly vote for her and the conservative portion of the country would too (even if we are ignored by mainstream media and Hollywood).

Stewart   July 3rd, 2009 4:14 pm ET

Sarah will now devote herself to National Defense, watching those pesky Russians from her front porch.

Anonymous   July 3rd, 2009 4:13 pm ET

There is a picture of Sarah Palin giving fellatio to her husband (I suppose).

If any of you remember that one pornographic video of the Sarah Palin look-alike, you'll be able to find the picture yourself.

Use Google Images, search "Nailin Palin."

That's why she's stepped down so suddenly; the picture itself is recent.

Vincent   July 3rd, 2009 4:13 pm ET

JB, she is not smoking anything.

However, Presisent Pothead smokes EVERYTHING.

mark   July 3rd, 2009 4:13 pm ET

Any conservative can beat Obama in 2012. Don't forget that America, by a clear but not necessarily subtantial margin, voted for tax hikes in the middle of a recession. Anyone with any college level economics class under their belt knows that this will deepen the recession and probably create a depression. It doesn't matter who paid the taxes, you voted for a hike. You're getting what you deserved, so enjoy the downward spiral. You have about 6 more weeks to blame this on Dubya, and then the Obama's stewardship of the economy will the front and center. As more and more of you lose your jobs, will you finally take responsibility for your actions?

James Michael Roberson   July 3rd, 2009 4:12 pm ET

My guess is someone has something on her and forced her to resign. Maybe now that she is no longer Gov. people will quit making fun at her ignorance and stupidity. Cry cry poor little me I can't take no more I quit.

Chris   July 3rd, 2009 4:11 pm ET

If she wins the election in 2012, I wonder which Horseman (Horsewoman?) of the Apocalypse that makes her.

One would hope that Americans don't want George W Bush with ovaries in the Oval Office, but it seems that's where Palin is fixin' to go. I would prefer the Republicans find somebody who is a natural leader, eloquent, and unabashedly conservative, unlike recent Republicans carrying that mantle. But who knows? Maybe with three years of debate prep, Palin might be a match for Obama.

Heh, sorry, that just sounded funny. Can you imagine Palin debating Obama? Obama could cheat on his wife with an aide while snorting blow off her stomach DURING THE DEBATE, and he would still demolish her. That would be great entertainment.

JohnB   July 3rd, 2009 4:11 pm ET

opps everyone is reporting she is resigning at the end of July guess she isn't going to finish her term. If that's true I've changed my mind.. she's got no chance at another political office.

Sarah   July 3rd, 2009 4:11 pm ET

She was probably jealous of all the press Michael Jackson's been getting this past week so she just had to do something to get back in the spotlight.

Vincent   July 3rd, 2009 4:11 pm ET

Palin 2012

Palin 2012

Palin 2012

Palin will win against Obama and the media.

She has 3 and half years to save us. This is the end to career in Alaska and the beginning to her career in the White House.

Mr Mark   July 3rd, 2009 4:11 pm ET

One year from now when BO's economic policies are in full swing, most of you will be asking how this could have ever happened. Sara P may or may not be the best choice for the GOP in 2012, but we have hit rock bottom with the idiot presently in the White House. She would be a welcome "change".

MADinAZ   July 3rd, 2009 4:10 pm ET

That picture must have been taken while she was describing President Obama.

S   July 3rd, 2009 4:10 pm ET

@MJM who said "He may make her look stupid, but I sure would believe what she says before I would believe him."

Providing you can actually understand what she is saying.

Robulous529   July 3rd, 2009 4:09 pm ET

Dumber than a rock and a house plant combined.
Looks good in tight-fitting cloths and her hot-for-teacher glasses.
Couldn't make an informed decision if her life depended on it.
Hasn't a care in the world for education or the world around her.
As conservative as the day is long and loved by the GOP base.
Looks like the DNC will control the Executive and both Houses for as far as the eye can see. You betcha!

Bev - NYC   July 3rd, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Step[ing down at month's end? I smell a scandal coming up ?

alaska   July 3rd, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Most of the comments here are anti-palin/republican but all lack substance. Not a single person said anything that wasn't regurgitated from the biased liberal media retoric spewed during the campaign. No facts, just ignorance. I'll be the first to admit skepticism toward Palin or any cadidate for that matter but I also think that with the way the country is being run we need a strong conservative leader who is willing to make real sacrafice and not just bow to popular opinion. The commenters here seem to have made up their minds about who they will vote for in 2012 despite the fact that there are 3.5 years left in this term. Remember how popular Bush was 6 months into his first term.

Barbara   July 3rd, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Wow, now she can go hunting with Dick Cheney, you betcha!

Emma   July 3rd, 2009 4:06 pm ET

Palin would not progress past the primary election if she runs for President.. But she doesn't know that. Hopefully she will set her sights on a Senatorial seat instead, even though she just does not fit the description of an astute politician. How come you Palin supporters love her so much?

JB   July 3rd, 2009 4:06 pm ET

The incredible ignorance reflected by the vast majority of comments posted here truly indicates the intelligence of the American voting electorate.
A misinformed and uneducated public will get exactly what it deserves. Just wait and see.

carol   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

QUIT QUIT QUIT, Sarah Palin quitter, we definitely dont need a quiter for president. Please stay in Alaska, you said it yourself that "my son needs me" we dont need you in 2012,
The GOP needs a life jacket now, surely i hope it will not be Palin. Talk about death sentence for GOP if this woman runs for president 2012

garry   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

You democrats have a very shallow argument if not really stupid idiotic thinking. Ya'll need to read more news and expand your arguments. Be informed so as not to make you look useful idiots. Open your eyes and not with blind faith that the current administration will save you. Sarah Palin has more experience that BHO. Research and analyze then make an informed arguments not petty or juvenile comments.

Billy V.   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Hmmm...

Quitting as Governor...so...we should make her President?

But, I ask...will she then quit The Presidency...to give her more time TO RUN FOR...GOD?

You bet, America...the person I want running the US of A is a person who quit FOUR colleges before getting a BS Degree...and then quit the only job she ever had that meant anything...because the Party that had to DRESS HER because she couldnt dress herself...has no one better to offer????

teachkids09   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

"Integrity" ??
Quitting on the people that elected you is "Integrity"

kmn4   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

NHSparky – yes, she scares us. She scares us because she's about as dumb as a sack of diapers! Maybe now she can go home and take care of her kids (especially her special-needs child and her grandchild). She's got about as much chance of winning the Presidency in 2012 as I do, and I'm not running!

And, the "hopey changey" thing is going quite well, thanks.

Ryan   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Good god, as much as I can't stand this airhead at least she will take some attention off the Jackson fiasco for awhile. Hopefully.

Dr. Bev   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Perhaps Ms. Palin, who took 8 years at 4 institutions to get a 4 year college degree, should stay home and pay attention to her son. Children with a multitude of disabilities need parental support. This child certainly needs both parents. Being a working mom, I can empathize but NOT at the risk of my family. She has the dollar signs in her eyes-the book deal-and she continues to stay in the limelight-Please CNN–STOP giving this woman airtime!

We can see what is happening--Mark Sanford, a potential presidential candidate before he was disgraced. Is she the beacon of hope for the Republican party? Why leave a job you were elected to do? Would you be a quitter as president? She has left the Alaska people high and dry. Palin is a quitter!

cathy   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Now she just might have time to, oh gosh, maybe finally read a book ?

I am a conservative but I will never ever consider voting for that Barbie doll airhead.

SL   July 3rd, 2009 4:05 pm ET

At least it's confirmed....Gov. Palin IS a US CITIZEN, and not afraid of showing proof of it!!!!!!!!!
AND YEA, for the HUNTERS of the US. Someone on our side.....

independent   July 3rd, 2009 4:04 pm ET

You know, kinda funny watching all the Obamabots talk about how inexperienced this lady is. Considering the idiot who is currently is charge. Lets see, almost 5 months in office, this nitwit has already spent more than Presidents combined, offended our oldest ally multiple times (Great Britain), been handled by a petty dictator or 2 or 3 (Bush wasn't much better), severely damaged the free market system (There is a system of government, where industry is privately owned and run by the government, it is called fascism), Cap and tax, trying to socialize healthcare, taxing healthcare benefits (after jumping on McClown for proposing the same thing). Personally, I probably would not vote for her, but the way this idiot is going, Mickey Mouse could beat him. Before you start bashing me as a bush backer, I didn't have much use for a lot of his policies that started us down this path.

James   July 3rd, 2009 4:04 pm ET

You don't have to like Obama to not like Palin – he has nothing to do with her political idiocy. If you really want him out of office, you should be hoping that someone other than Sarah gets the nomination. This would be intelligent thinking, full of thought process and consideration for how you want to spend your vote in order to "change" the way things are. I voted for President Obama because I believe in him, and still do. So, bring us a contender that is going to be a good challenge. Let's step it up America. I WANT to see him challenged – it will do us ALL some good. I WANT the best and brightest to win and if you have her in your party, show her to us (or him). It certainly is not Sarah Palin.

Bring it on and let's have a real election debate in this country for once.

Melly Mel   July 3rd, 2009 4:03 pm ET

I bet there is something in the works for her to be RNC Chair
Remember she said that she wanted to continue her work ..... She is not stepping down, but climbing up.,... Michael Steele your days are numbered!

jwheeler   July 3rd, 2009 4:03 pm ET

Dear God, save us from a Palin presidency. Amen.

Please run for President Sarah. We all need some humor in this world.

Darth Cheney   July 3rd, 2009 4:03 pm ET

Surely it's no coincidence that this occured the same week Jon & Kate announced their separation. Get ready for The Palins, coming soon to a cable network near you! Maybe they'll even become their own network (PTV) and we can watch them 24/7!

terico July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Gov. Palin is far more successful than most people. She is a woman of integrity and I hope she will lend her talents to the national stage!
*****
She did lend her 'talents" to the national stage....LOL! WE all know how that turned out for her....LOL!
BTW....There is NO Rethug that's currently "known" that can beat Obama.
That party is almost non-existant!!!! Jokes is the correct term for the current Rethug party!

Kathy   July 3rd, 2009 4:02 pm ET

One more gutsy move from Sarah! I love her courage! I'm sure that she feels all the media attacks on her are keeping her from doing the job that she wants to do for Alaska. She has been harassed by so many folks, unnecessarily. She knows that her critics will criticize her for whatever she does, because she is a definite threat to O-BA-MA! By the way, Shute, we have another unqualified person in the White House now, don't we? Only, this one has an anti-America agenda.

Lt.Dan   July 3rd, 2009 4:01 pm ET

There you have it, Palin the quitter, Palin the punk. And this is who you want to represent your party?! Palin the quitter? Get real.

amanda   July 3rd, 2009 4:01 pm ET

As a woman I would feel ashamed if she was the first female president of the United States. There are so many more talented and more deserving women in both parties.

jfi   July 3rd, 2009 4:01 pm ET

It's funny and yet sad to hear the libs spout their fear and hate of Ms Palin. It's the leftist media that keeps her in the news, going out of their way to spew more hate. Maybe you libs should consider that your hate speech makes you look foolish.

Oh Great   July 3rd, 2009 4:01 pm ET

@ phoenix86 I don't fear Sarah Palin. I fear what would/will happen to our country if she had more power than she already has (which thankfully is very little).

maude   July 3rd, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Sarah Palin, the only public official MORE stupid than George Bush! (And we did not think it possible).....maybe she is going back to 5th grade to resume her education.

Tom   July 3rd, 2009 4:00 pm ET

This is good for the people of Alaska, and if she is the GOP candidate for president in 2012, it will be good for the whole country, since it will ensure that Obama–a real president with actual intelligence and capability–gets four more years.

Anonymous   July 3rd, 2009 4:00 pm ET

What a quitter

Bluteau   July 3rd, 2009 4:00 pm ET

Wow, I guess she can't take the heat of Alaskan politics.

LOL

Oh well, now both of the Palins are unemployed bums.

Miguel   July 3rd, 2009 3:59 pm ET

Great! I see the haters of my former party (and CNN's lapdogs) are out in force against their perceived victim (just like good socialists, National Socialists, thay is).

As an art teacher in demo-destroyed California, I say come on ahead, Sarah. Palin's power is beyond their comprehension. We know she stands for the working man and woman, Not for the corrupt DC/Chi-town insider/traitors of the entire elitist academic culture of the East, North East.

Recent "educated" lefties are a wholly ignorant lot who knows nothing but that they know they are smarter and better than the real people. Never did I meet so many educated fools parading forth as if they knew something than did I during college.

They presided over stupifying us, as has Ca. State government's Cal Ed has presided over stupifying all of California's kids. All they know how to do is Tax and Wreck and Control-marm us to death. Creation is beyond their ken.

Britt   July 3rd, 2009 3:59 pm ET

can't be no worse than what we have now. Obama will hand us over to the taliban or china before 2012.

whaley41   July 3rd, 2009 3:59 pm ET

Why are you dems and liberal idiots so afraid of Sarah? She is smarter than any one of you! And you know she will win!

Mike   July 3rd, 2009 3:59 pm ET

Palin, or any other good conservative, will do the job on the campaign that McCain was too confused to do. She'll put Barry's socialist nuts in a vice and squeeze til he cries the Star Bangled Banner with pride.

ccm1991   July 3rd, 2009 3:59 pm ET

Can she still see Russia from her house?? Good riddance! She is a mental moron. And of course everyone is speculating she will run in 2012. I would not hire someone for a higher position if they cannot even fufill their current position. And this whole boo-hoo the national media is trying to take me down BS and there is a "Full court press to get me" is ridiculous and a cop-out!!!! Nobody cared about her or knew who she was until the election. An election that SHE CHOSE TO BE A PART OF!!!!!

"I am going to make an executive decision as an elected official by no longer being an elected official." That underscores how much of a moron she is. She went to four colleges in five years, why? If she loves her job sooooo much why is she quitting? If she is such a great point guard, why is she walking of the court? I have a strong feeling there is skeleton somewhere in her closet.

It would not bother me if she stated that she wanted to spend time with her family or some other personal reason. I can totally relate to that. But she delivered some conviluted speach that made absolutly no sense.

Fox News, here she comes. What a joke.

Bob   July 3rd, 2009 3:59 pm ET

Sarah, You are the best. Ignore the idiots that fear you. You will be the first woman president (not "Her-Thighness" Hillary). You will be the leader that saves us from the Marxist that is our current president. Conservatives voted for you, not McLame!

kathy   July 3rd, 2009 3:59 pm ET

our president is just spending money with his families. and president mother in law is still staying in white house. what, president daughters are babies. in history this is the first time, president mother in law is staying in white house. and just not for 2 or 3 months,
more then that. amercian public are weak.

Maybe she will use this time to learn how to read....
There's NO 2012 bid forthcoming.....Dumb Sarah is done!!!!
Well Done Sarah! LOL!LOL!

am better   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

she is afraid she is going to lose reelection thats why. 2012 is going to be entertaining election. lol does she really think she can lead this great country? she talk trash, she has no respect for others, can't manage even her own family. Go ahead caribou entertain us with your illiteracy. she claims she has journalism degree but never showed what she learned there may be it is b/c she didn't understand what she was studying. Alaskans are lucky now.

PT   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

If the Republicans nominate this "dim wit", the public would know that all means justify the end. And, no, I don't want to have a beer with her.

aware   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

Governor Sarah Palin has not been brain-washed by our misguided pseudo intellectuals or our radical far-left universities who no longer recognize truth, have disgarded knowledge and are clueless when it comes to wisdom. Governor Palin is tough enough to speak truth to power. She has a moral center and a true code of ethics. She is authentic! Neither she nor her daughter aborted their babies for the sake of convenience.

She will bring change we can believe in!

I am an Independent sick of Washington ego maniacs and power hungry manipulators! :(

jimii   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

Wow! She is so taken by her own reflection in the mirror – and so unqualified to be President of these United States. Can you imagine her trying to cope with the multi messes that Obama stepped into when taking over for W?

I am sure there will be a number of people that will support her because she is "just like us, or them" but since when do we want an average person who went to 4 or 5 colleges to barely get her degree and all the other traits that make her like the average person. I want a leader who is inteliigent, enlightened, respected, can understand how all the problems in the world impact each other – anyway – 8 years of Bush was enough – please no more of this insanity. Oh, I forgot – she is qualified because she can see Russia from her back yard.

She is clueless except she does know how to play the media game. There ya go again – jeepers.

wowbagger   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

No,

She is just telling all of you lib Bas**rds to shove off.

Then she will kick back and just enjoy living in big wonderful Alaska.

Tim Fisher   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

She was not one to dig into college course books and material, seeing how it took her, what, 6 yrs. to get a degree in journalism? I doubt her ability to "crash course" in learning the names of world leaders, let alone the definition and what it takes to be President of the U.S.is going to happen in the next 2 yrs., before hitting the "campaign trail!"

Andrea   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

OLD TEX

Oh brother I agree with you. Laugh all you want about Palin people, but I find this development frightening. Many may find this woman to be an imbecile, but you are naïve, short sighted, and arrogant to think that she could not win. I voted for "hope", for Obama, and so far he seems like a "ghost president". I just can't see him, strange as this may sound. It's like he's not there. I hope all our jaws are not dropping come Election Day 2012.

Rocker   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

She figured she had nothing to loose because she wouln't have been re-elected. The National Meat grinder awaits you again, Sarah. This time you'll be swallowed whole. What a delusional dunce...

Flannery   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

OMG...........PLEASE Sarah, run for the White House....help us out of this mess of a "Change" Obama is putting us in!!!

Joe   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

Sarah Palin runs for President – Night of Election, she asks someone what the President does.

This woman is the DEFINITION of a Front. She's pretending to be an intelligent, balanced, and progressive woman. She has issues with letting her emotions run her. See her scandal as Alaskan Governor and who she could and could not fire. She has issues with understanding what she is trying to become, see Vice President and her not knowing what the heck the job is about. She has issues with progress and being a hypocrite. See her pregnant and suddenly single daughter post lost election. Palin needs go to school, and learn what it means to not play House or Governor. The LAST thing the US needs is a President who assumed rather than knew.

sara boyd   July 3rd, 2009 3:58 pm ET

think you are a wonderful addition to both your state and country....and could see you as a senator at this stage of your life and family committment. But as a mom I know what a toddler and young family and grandchildren demand. Its not money or political clout ...its time... time that a president or vice president could not posibly have.....its one thing for one state to rest on your shoulders but quite another for all the states ......I hope you are making an annoucement that will open the door for the leadership of the party to rebuild this country but will also enable another to step up into the stage for the national position.

Glenn   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

That's great news... I'm sure her 2 supporters will miss her greatly...

Annunciata Conde   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

Your list of comments reveals the depth of ignorance, the breadth of fear and the roots of the Godlessness now so prominent in the minds of our erstwhile proud nation. Palin is not afraid of your commentators. Nor am I.

Pragmatic   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

""She sees what a positive influence she has had on people's lives from traveling the country in the last year." ....

... and she can see Russia from her house ... what she can't see is that she is not and never will be presidential material. Took her six years to get a 4 year degree!

Loving America   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

Leave the woman alone. She cannot spend any more money than Obama already has. He is not perfect and neither is she. If you have nothing nice to say, keep your comments to yourself. We all have our faults. Right? I think we should give her a chance.

RUTY   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

It's about time. Now–maybe she can become a mother to her children instead of being a motor mouth to the world. Thank you God.

clevelandindian   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

As a registered Republican, I would not be pleased to see Gov. Palin announce that she is a candidate for President. Should she become a serious candidate,it would reflect negatively on the intellegence of the Republican voter. Is she really the best the party can offer? If she is, then we had better get use to the goals of the Democratic Party.

Brett from Oriskany,VA   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

It seems most Palin supporters are as uneducated and bigoted as she is.

steve   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

Oh no. I suppose we are going to have to listen to this nut everytime she can find a microphone and anytime anyone looks at her cross-eyed. She is the sterotype air-head beauty queen. Entertaining to some leadership to one (Todd). She wears the pants in the family, right?

Mcarthur   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

I hope she runs.

The left hate her because she is a successful mother/wife who hasn't had 3 abortions yet. Liberals see abortions as kind of a gang initiation. If you get your uterus scraped free of life you get in the club.
Sarah didn't abort her down syndrome child and chose to care for it like a compassionate human being would. For this she will be punished by the rabid left.

Obama is done in 12' unless he can make all of the illegals citizens. And trust me they are working on that right now. If he can't, Palin will easily take the presidency if she were to run.

CNN comment sections are fun to read because its mostly 20 year old college feminazis, washed up old hippies and angry homosexual fascists that trool these here boards in an attempt to "Alinsky " the social "weather".

tedious898   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

OK Americans....lookout for the Sarahcuda....24/7 with poorly formed sentences and amazing accounts of being able to see Alaska from her laundry room.

Geesh...we're toast. I need to keep my child away from the tv show he doesn't think what Palin is saying is grammatically correct.

Racist Democrat   July 3rd, 2009 3:57 pm ET

We democrats are proud of our racism. Segregationists, KKK, all democrats. Emancipation Proclamation, Republican. We democrats now hate everything white. Our great president hates half of himself, 'cause that's white. Instead of blacks, our inherent racism is targeted at anything white.

A Proud Racist Democrat

The Best of the Bunch—On The Road Again To the White House–Obama, Your Worse Nightmare Is Happening–Go Sara Go!

Mary   July 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

I think Ms. Palin should exit the Republican party. She is
focusing on herself right now. I personally think she hurt
John McCain when he was running for President. She is
definitely NOT READY to be President of the United States.
I am sick of hearing about her and her family. The Republican
Party will be in a mess again if they nominate her.

Johnnieg   July 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

Leah   July 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

It looks like she has her eyes on the White House.
I like her personally but for the life of me ,I cannot see her as USA President.

GEORGE   July 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

Answer to "shute"......Take your head out of the clouds, do you think Mr Obama is qualified to be President?....I am 80 year old and I hope I live four more years to see that Charlatan thrown out of the White House......Hooray for Sarah

alaskan sue   July 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

Serious Republicans don't think she's a front-runner, only liberals do. I bet she's going after the Senate seat that Lisa Murkowski now has. And if she wanted to be President, it'd be better for her to be Governor a second term...it was her inexperience that alienated independents last year.

As for Alaskans breathing a sigh of relief, people who say that need to read the news. She's got 80% popularity in some polls. Sounds like maybe YOU should go back to school!

cregis   July 3rd, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Bet Fox has offered her a contract. It would be wonderful if she just disappeared, but that would be too good to be true. We know she's writing a book (by ghostwriter, even though she is a journalism major)Anyway, she would fit right in with the Fox crowd.

Jeanne   July 3rd, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Poor delusional Sarah. Forget about Russia, she is seeing the Whitehouse from her house.

to shute. And Obama has experience? I think not, and it truly is showing since all the man wants to do is spend money drive us into debt, sit down have a cup of tea with terrorist and leaders of terrorist nations.... I could go into office and be just as successful as Obama has been, he is a complete fool and his own inexperience is showing through he has no clue what he is doing, one can only hope we make it through 2012 with him in office

Carol Cox   July 3rd, 2009 3:55 pm ET

If this woman wasn't so darn scary, this would be amusing.

Speaking as a liberal Democrat, we are frankly baffled as to why the Limbaugh Republicans would think she is their answer in 2012.

If this is the very best they have to offer, then the Republican Party truly is in deep trouble.

Her comment of Obama "paling around with terrorists" in 2008 will haunt her for years!

George   July 3rd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Bye, Sarah! Don't let the door hit you in the Dumb Ass on the way out!!!!

murray   July 3rd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

What a joke?? With our intelligent electorate you've got to rate her a shoe in. We seem to elect any idiot that spews the right religious dogma and display very little common sense. She qualifies on both counts.

SF Serg   July 3rd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Why do I still cringe whenever she talks? I want to feel comfortable watching her speak? Why does that happen? I want to listen to her words rather than feel nervous when she speaks.

ajr1021   July 3rd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

She's too much of a narcissist not to run for president, so let's hope she spends some serious time reading policy briefs, court decisions, books, and learning about the issues rather than shooting from the hip and giving a wink. Yikes.

Dan   July 3rd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Saturday Night Live must of offered her a job.

omegaprophecy   July 3rd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

It's clear and simple Palin is an idiot any preschooler can see that. She would be good to laugh at though. I don't like either side of politics all they are good for is telling you people want you want to hear. I voted in the last couple of elections the first I voted for W. and his second term the last I voted for Obama. I don't get how any of you people can pick a side and just stick with them. Republicans and Democrats you are all the same full of crap and only concerned with yourselves. All you people can do is fight with each other no wonder this country is where it's at. Instead of trying to find a solution you people just want to see who's more full of crap.

Banjo Billy   July 3rd, 2009 3:54 pm ET

Sahra Palin, smart, young and good looking but she will never get
the ugly womens vote.

Jeanne   July 3rd, 2009 3:53 pm ET

Bob   July 3rd, 2009 3:53 pm ET

That last thing we need is someone who has no clue how things work, or that is so hypocritical and anti-porgress. Her daughter gets pregnant, they tell us that they are getting married and are in love. Right after the election, that she lost for McCain, they break up. This lady is full of lies: see the Bridge to No-Where, and has no business leading a state, let alone this country. In fact, please run for President Sarah, you will get beat badly by the incumbent.

Snowysoul   July 3rd, 2009 3:53 pm ET

I would vote for her. More vocal about issues, and very determined on how to get things done.

However i do not know who will be the next Democrat runner, but will likely be obama. not so much a fun of him as his cabnet just pushed troops from iraq to afgan. which is worse then iraq. If your saying no to that, go there to both like i have and you tell me. How the Stimulas bill payed over 2 million dollars to find out why pigs smell... yeah there is a long list of miss used funds there. GM anyone?

Just saying i will vote for the right person but the Obama camp is not getting another vote from me. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

francine, Quebec   July 3rd, 2009 3:53 pm ET

Please dear God don't make this mean that she is running in 2012..Didn't Americans have enough of 8 years with a president who wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer ? And now her, who can see Russia from her back yard? Say it ain't so....

MikeinNC   July 3rd, 2009 3:53 pm ET

Would someone please enlighten me as to the top 5-10 major accomplishments during her administration?

As a former Republican, long ago disillusioned by a party that lost its way and forgot that it was all about fiscal conservatism, not an obsession with a handful of social issues....I am amazed that the party could possibly think Palin is electable in 2012 (or beyond). She flat out cannot win.

Rhino   July 3rd, 2009 3:53 pm ET

Maybe she's going to sit on her front porch and wait for the Russians !!!! Oh that's right, she can already see them.

JECMC   July 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

The unkindness and spewed hatefulness of blog comments these days has me deeply concerned about where our country is headed...who are these people who can say such degrading and awful things about anyone–be it Republican or Democrat? Are you my neighbors? Do I know some of you? Because you are anonymous, do you think you can degrade people? Where is common decency? Politeness? Can't people disagree intelligently anymore–must people resort to name-calling?

I'm finding more and more people delighting in other's misfortunes and is disturbing.

Lord Darth Sidious   July 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Natalie   July 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Oh, no, now she'll have more time to be irrelevant. Isn't there one bear left in Alaska who will step up and do his country a favor and eat this nut?

Joan   July 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

I hope she does run for Prez as i would love to see a Palin/Bachman GOP ticket in order to get this country straightened out. Two women who have earned their political leadership on their own and not on the coattails of their husbands. Men have had enough years running the country and now that we are in a real mess, now bring on the women to step up to the plate and clean up this mess. Go ladies!!!

Mr. Smith   July 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Yes. I hope this means she is running for Pres in 2012. She will handily beat Osama. He has screwed up everything so far. Look at his silly budget. He actually thinks Americans are that stupid that we will believe we can pay for all that. Bwahaha. It is amazing how uneducated the "elite" really are. They voted for this empty suit. He can't even speak smartly. He sounds like an ex drug addict on prozac.

Robert in Calgary   July 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

The GOP is not learning. Still totally lost. Petty ego, intolerance and ignorance from the backwoods being promoted for leadership. When did the GOP get told that incompetence is admirable? That trend has been primary to GOP activity for quite some time. The average US citizen would recognize that as the worst of blind Communism, whereas the GOP has a branch who still thinks it's like, tactical, and, we can see Communists from our back yard, hey hey hey. Too bad the Russians and Chinese have already figured out Communism is stupid and incompetent. How they deal with it is their business, and the US has no business letting hillbilly neotards from Alaska's freakiest churches draw attention.

Robert Anchor   July 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Oh --you are not allowed to regurgitate the same dribble that the media has fed you. Is there ONE thinking person out there that can accept this challenge?? Go for it-----

Niki Birdsflight   July 3rd, 2009 3:51 pm ET

The fool can dream. She is in a delusional state of mind and will eventually fall on her sorry face. May God allow her to make an ass out of herself.

G   July 3rd, 2009 3:51 pm ET

The hatred directed at this woman is nothing short of embarrassing for us as Americans. No longer are we capable of reasoned political discourse, some lesser beings prefer to allow their hate, unbridled jealousy (she's gorgeous AND successful, most women aren't), and pure ideological bigotry to speak for them.

Some of you people are truly and utterly pathetic.

I fear America's best days are behind her.

Michael   July 3rd, 2009 3:51 pm ET

SARAH PALIN our next President. That's why the left wing despises her. A fresh voice for all conservatives in the USA!

Brad   July 3rd, 2009 3:51 pm ET

The hate that the left has for this woman is disgusting. Especially the women... feminism died when it became only for the women of the left. Has anyone considered she might be gearing down so she can be with her family??? I do not like this America one bit. I bet more people in the US have more in common with Sarah Palin than they do with BO or any of those DC elites. Maybe that is what they hate about here... she is so common. Urban liberal elites want gods in office, not people... maybe due to the lack of God in their own lives I suppose.

John-VA   July 3rd, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Governor Palin is attractive and intelligent, contributing much more to the betterment of this nation than the current occupant of the White House. Many non-achievers spend their lives trashing those who make real contributions. I view Governor Palin's many critics as worthless slugs, dedicating their shallow lives to this sorry endeavor. Perhaps her critics should back away from their PC's and try to accomplish something, anything, while they still have the time and energy.

capn jack   July 3rd, 2009 3:51 pm ET

SF Serg   July 3rd, 2009 3:50 pm ET

Hmmm, what could be the reason?

Presidential boot camp starts next month?

Youngest daughter is pregnant?

Misuse of taxpayer money?

Publicity stunt for upcoming book?

She had a marital affair?

Oh oh oh, press conference.

Her words are scattered and without substance. Ok she's stepping down, I got that. She's playing basketball and she passes the ball for the greater good of the team, ok I got that. After that, I don't know what she's talking about? Does anybody know?

sara   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

There she go again, is putting her children in her sh.............................

Smart Pigmy   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Actually, my favorite picture of Palin is the one of her standing next to Cindy McCain on page 4 of the Vanity Fair story.

MidEastVet   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Wow – The vicious comments on here about Gov. Palin does not cease to amaze me. You leftists are the most uneducated people out there, and are inept in the ability ot properly articulating yourselves, without putting someone down in the manner that you all do.

If you imbeciles had an iota of intelligence you would look around and realize that Governor Palin is brighter than any of your "Intellects" on tthe left.

Governor Palin should run for US Senate – and continue to piss you ignorant socialists off!!!

Thomas Shea   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Run Sarah, run! And wipe the floor with that stinky Marxist Kenyan jiggaboo! That coon who's now running the economy into the the toilet. The very place where that turd Obama fits in nicely.

Alaska Voter   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Sarah has done a good job in Alaska. The GAS PIPELINE which has been a 'pipe dream' for thirty years, is finally on paper. She has LISTENED; our previous governor didn't feel it was necessary and even refused admittance to press conferences to the press if he didn't like what they wrote. He ran the State like a dictator.

She has had to spend an inordinate amount of time answering 'ethics' complaints from political rivals and professional bloggers. And she has been found innocent. (Just because you don't like what a politician does, does not make it an ethics violation.)

And people remember the RUMORS (as in the 'kill them' so called quote) and forget the TRUTH (the REPORTER made it up.) Or in the so-called 'removal' of books from the library - never done or tried.

(BTW, when you take ANY person, take their 'sound bites' out of context, then spread innuendo and rumor, ANYONE can be made to look like a fool. Glib does not make someone a good leader. )

I've heard her speak in Alaska. I've met her. She has done many good things. Try to remember that much of the negative has been generated by a few professional political bloggers and picked up with glee by the liberal press.

Her family, including her children, have not deserved the vitriol and hate. I wish her, and them, health and happiness. Anyone who 'serves' deserves better.

Penny   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

LOL...Sarah Palin running for president....LOL And may God bless anyone who thinks she would be a good candidate. Your doctor can prescribe medication to help you out of that unrealistic world. She's the Michael Jackson of the GOP!

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Todd Palin confirms that his wife will step down as Alaska Governor FOR HEALTH REASONS.

Apparently...Mrs. Palin IS pregnant...AGAIN!

David Letterman has issued an apology.

Sources close to Mr. Letterman indicate that it is now obvious that Dave, "'clearly went a little too far" in his last apology to the Alaska Governor.

Letterman himself would later suggest, "'WOW! That's one fertile Chief Executive...As best as I can remember, we didnt even shake hands."

Gabriel Kohn   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

I am so sorry to heat that– I could not wait for new episodes of SNL with Tina Fey... That was the only good part of Sarah Palin.....

lamuella   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

she's stepping down because she doesn't want the black eye of a bruising gubernatorial campaign that would show up how much her approval ratings in Alaska have plummeted.

Jamey   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Bigot Liberals have to be shaking in their panties...... Sarah is going to be a voice for the the RIGHT (minded) people of this country.... Hopefully she will be there to counter everything that Barry and his gang try to pull over on the good American people.

A man's man   July 3rd, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Dream on Sarah, dream on!

JoAnn   July 3rd, 2009 3:48 pm ET

It's a good decision. She will be seen in politics in the future. She may not be able to speak clearly, but, she is a very smart, intelligent woman who can contribute many good things to the future of the United States.

golfahaulic   July 3rd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

There's one huge possibility: If Obama won because of the 'Anyone but Bush!' factor, that same dynamic may exist by 2012, i.e., 'Anyone but Obama!'

You can sure see the difference between those who type using their 'thinking muscles' instead of their 'hating muscles.'

Rinna   July 3rd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Boy oh boy, how cruel can all of you can get. I assure you, I am no fan of Palin for the way in which she bad-mouthed our Now President during her campaign, yet again, look how nasty all of you are. the human race never cease to amaze me. Like for Michael Jackson's death, all that could be said of him was the bad things, and the millions of $$$ he gaved to charity to the needy meant nothing to no one. We are just like vultures, waiting to pounce on those who are down. What an embarassment for the human race!!!! You commentators need a good dose of GOD...look where we are and what we believe in. How sad......

Korean Vet   July 3rd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Hussein Obama has now sohown his communistic management style and if he will allow another election anyone else would win. Question why do you have to destroy the worlds best medical system to get those who will not work medical benefits.

Palin for president? She was a joke as a vice president. She will be a bigger joke as president. The woman is deranged.

Please spare us, and stay home and pump out more babies and bake cookies. Oh, and lay off the wolves.

Chicago N   July 3rd, 2009 3:47 pm ET

So many thoughts run throught my mind, like if she were elected what would the rest of the world think of our sanity, what part of the world do I wish to cower in until he implodes the earth, and finally what were the people that elected her smoking?

Big Mofo   July 3rd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Ah...I feel the Liberal hate just ooooozing out of your pours. Smells like victory. The fact that you idiots are tripping over yourselves to come up with the smarmiest quip to describe what a joke she is and how you are not afraid of her is proof positive that you are all crapping your pants right now. It will be fun sitting there and watching all my former liberal friends as they eat crow. It will be fun to come back here as well and read all you losers decrying how the world as we know it is ending, lol.

Sam O.   July 3rd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

To Common Sense: Love your line...

"By the time presidential elections are upon us again, Larry the Cable Guy could beat Obama. The damage he has done to this country in just six months is unbelieveable."

For all of those calling Palin juvenile names, I've not yet seen anyone here refer to Obama as "Mr. Man-Boobs, so I'll run with that. Let's face it, Obama is a narcissistic empty suit who is a camera-hog, always desperate for a teleprompter. Otherwise, he stammers like a pathetic Looney Toons cartoon character. On a deeper level, he was the worse candidate EVER for our country. We don't know what his grades were in college, don't know what he did with half his life before becoming a community organizer, and still don't know why he hugs dictators and shuns allies. Have you looked at the unemployment numbers this week that his doofy "spread the wealth and bankrupt America" plan has wrought upon what used to be the greatest nation on earth? Palin conducts herself just fine if she isn't being targeted by hostile MSM or liberal hatchetmen. If Obama gets testy now with the loving softballs thrown to him in press conferences, I would LOVE to see the meltdown mess he would become if he ever was challenged with a semi-tough question by the media, like Palin has been bombarded with over and over and over.

Lynn   July 3rd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

I hope she is running for President. It will feel good to get someone with integrity and grit into that office again.

rebekah   July 3rd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

are you people high? have you ever listened to a WORD sarah palin has said? (before she was forced by mccain during the campaign to go to training for public speaking and CLASSES to learn about US gov't, this is fact, it was on the AP) she may be good for Alaska, but she's not good for the US. We don't need a president who will spend more than $100,000 just on clothes for one campaign. Thankyoudrivethru

Moe, NY   July 3rd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

Cannot believe this woman is actually going to put herself out there for presidential run....too funny! I doubt she will ever get the womens vote, we see right through her, at least the majority of us do, and we could never vote for someone like Palin who is lacking not only in smarts, but in every area. She would intentionally set women back decades. And, as for her funky religious beliefs, she just comes across as a very very dangerous lady.

Steve   July 3rd, 2009 3:46 pm ET

It's official: Michael Palin of Monty Python is no longer the funniest Palin.
But if Sarah Palin indeed runs for prez, she will have to answer this not-so-humorous question: "Why does your secessionist husband hate America?"

Kim   July 3rd, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Sarah Palin is clearly not Presidential material. She can't spontaneously discuss current events (much like "W"). She is so uninformed and responds like a small state beauty pageant contestant whose hair is pulled back so tightly that it impedes her thought process. It is so refreshing to have President Obama who is so adept at articulating relevant, thoughful commentary when asked questions. As President, Palin would make great fodder for the pundits, but run the country into the ground. God help us.

kathy   July 3rd, 2009 3:45 pm ET

weather or not she runs for President in 2012.... I can only pray that Obama the clown does not get re-elected, that would be a complete nightmare......so he can't ruin this country anymore than he already has, and drive us further into debt to communist China, and spend more of our taxpayer dollars..... Obama is a complete failure

Truth is, Sarah Palin is the liberals' worst nightmare.

Todd's Mistress   July 3rd, 2009 3:44 pm ET

OMG There are so many more talented, qualified GOP frontrunners for President in 2012 she may as well have stayed on as Governor and kept embarassing herself and her family. Someday she'll get it.

libsridiots   July 3rd, 2009 3:44 pm ET

You liberals crack me up. You have the mentality of 10 year olds.

The reason you hate Palin is because you fear her. You say she is dumb – but I suspect that is because many of the things she says is over your head. Speaking of dumb – just look at who you elected.

For all you idiots who say she was a drag on McCain, let me remind you that the only time McCain ever led in the polls was right after she was chosen as the VP nominee.

I would engage you further in debate – but so far I haven't met any liberals who are knowledgeable in history, philosophy, or economics. Why should I waste my mind with you.

Since you cannot compete in the arena of ideas – you're knee jerk reaction is to always call your opponents racists, homophobes, xenophobes, hillbillies, etc. When you do this – you expose the truth that you are incapable of rational debate.

bobt   July 3rd, 2009 3:44 pm ET

I don't think I've ever seen a larger gathering of liberal idiots than I seen here in this thread. Figures it would be at Cnn..a news organization with a viewership of about 30 people......

Rich   July 3rd, 2009 3:44 pm ET

This woman has no chance on winning the White House. She just does not have the education, background and knowledge to be a President. The White House is not a place to train in. OMG, guess all the attention has went to her head.

Bethie in TX   July 3rd, 2009 3:44 pm ET

July 3rd, 2009 3:30 pm ET

I enjoy hearing from all the libtardz how Sarah "cost McCain the election." Every braindead DNC sycophant that says that was going to vote for BO no matter what. Sarah made it as close as it was. (Jim)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You need a history lesson, Jim. Don't you remember the very long, hotly contested primary season between Obama and Clinton? Dems were quite divided until the nomination, and some Hillary voters never came around to supporting Obama. Also, your theory doesn't explain how Obama won over independents, moderates, and many Republicans scared to death by Palin's inability to answer simple questions. I don't hate Palin; I just don't see her as presidential.

dukas   July 3rd, 2009 3:44 pm ET

ex-alaskan   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Good Riddance Sarah! You're an embarrassment to women, Republicans and Alaskans everywhere. Do this country a favor and stay out of politics. Go home and raise your children and grandchild, that is the biggest gift you can give to all of us. You might be a "pit bull with lipstick", but you in no way represent what this country needs now or in the future. Go back to your kennel and stay there!

Perusing-through   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

The 'joy' of Palin running as the Republican's 2012 general election candidate is so overwhelming that it is near painful. Bring it on Sarah, , , oh please bring it on!

I guess she has done all the damage she can in Alaska.

John Dinwiddie   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

The most frightening thing about Palin running for
president is the number of voters who are ignorant
enough to support her has become so large that she
might have a chance.

A part of just how terrible a leader can be is not
always a matter of conspicuous evil but whether
Weltanschauung matches reality. Palin's attitude
toward the environment amounts to a death sentence
for the country, perhaps for the world. There are
millions of people in the United States who would
consider that statement hysterical, hyperbolic. They
had better be right.

Steven   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Can't wait to see candidate Palin running against President Obama. Oh man, this is gonna be a hoot! :D

WeBoDavid   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Is she quitting or just not seeking reelection? I predict she is a flash in the pan. Even Republicans will not select her as their nominee. If they do I predict more gains by the Democratic Party in the US House, US Senate, state Houses and Governonrships even in an off year election with Democrats already in control.

Elaine B   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

According to pals in Alaska, she is likely stepping down because she would not win reelection. We think all is so rosey and wonderful up there, but there are people starving in northern alaska because food and fuel is so expensive and warming is taking its toll on their native means of getting food. Businesses in the south of the state do not like her much either because she has no interest in developing the infrastructure. What she is good at is raising money for the GOP. But for all her cuteness and spunk and maverick-ish-ness, that gal has to memorize her lines. She makes Bush II look brilliant by comparison. I love John McCain but I cannot forgive him for making a shoot first and think second woman a political star.

DM.   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

Who cares. Her 15 minutes are up.

Cathy   July 3rd, 2009 3:42 pm ET

if she runs for president – GOD HELP THE USA

Sad to call myself a dem   July 3rd, 2009 3:41 pm ET

I am a dem and voted for Obama but just reading the vile things being said on this blog makes me sad.

So the woman isn't running again. Why can't grown up people address that issue. Why say such vile things against a woman who from everything that had been reported on her did a good job as governor. She was fiscally responsible, even getting oil revenue back into the hands of every man, woman and child living in Alaska.

So maybe she will run for Senate. Why can't she. MN just elected a comedian didn't they? We had an actor as President. Sonny Bono was a congressman. People come from all different backgrounds and I thought that is what made America a great place. My fellow dems on this blog are downing her because she is a woman who doesn't think or act the way that they do. I thought that was the democratic way. Barney Frank is gay, Ted Kennedy rich, Jennifer Granholm foreign...I think you get the picture.

Give the woman some peace and quiet and stop acting like children. It will come back to bite you in the rear.

A man's man   July 3rd, 2009 3:41 pm ET

Another nail in the Republicant coffin. The party of NO is on it's way out and I for one am very happy about that. And I consider myself a conservative. The Republicant hopefull,s had the sites locked in on a Palin Joe the Plumber ticket and now thier hopes will be dashed.

AmFem   July 3rd, 2009 3:41 pm ET

Jim- Haven't you read anything about McCain's own staff blaming Palin for losing the election? Get a clue.

Course one of his other contenders for VP was Sanford, and we know how that ended up. Yeah! Let's hear it for the party of family values!!!

Chris is Laughing   July 3rd, 2009 3:41 pm ET

LOL!!! The Witch of Wasilla is the gift that keeps on giving – to Democratic Party! Thank you, Scary Sarah!!

Ed   July 3rd, 2009 3:41 pm ET

Very good move. She was the only reason the McCain ticket came within 2 million votes of Hussein Obama in the first place. Given the horrific presidency that Obama is having, and how he is systematically destroying America from the inside out, Palin cannot lose in 2012. Obama's own epic failure has guaranteed that. We could run a bag of dead mice and easily beat him by a landslide considering how 4/10 people who voted for Obama are now furious they were so duped and so stupid for believing him. Republican lanslide in the Congress in 2010 and landslide presidency in 2012. It always takes a Republican to clean up the messes the dems leave behind and this time is no different.

Patti   July 3rd, 2009 3:41 pm ET

GREAT NEWS!!!!! SHE'LL BE A GREAT SENATOR!!!!!!!

Oh- Nancy, about draining that swamp- you'd better start running now- your time is up. Soon, we'll have someone with integrity in the Senate that will make you and your little bots in the House look like the sell-outs that they are.

Robert   July 3rd, 2009 3:41 pm ET

IMO, here are the four most likely scenarios for Gov. Palin once she is done:

(1) Working towards Presidential run in 2012;
(2) Working towards run for the US Senate;
(3) Seeing what politics does to people, vis. the vicious attacks on her daughter and son, and simply saying "the hell with it" and retiring to be a mom and advocate for special needs kids;
(4) Hunting down all the illiterate, veins-popping-with-rage, nincompoop CNN.com commenters in most of the above comments and kicking their sorry asses one by one.

Of those four, I could care less about (1) and (2) and could totally understand (3), but I sincerely hope a healthy does of (4) happens.

Mary   July 3rd, 2009 3:40 pm ET

If she decides to run, she will need to go to finishing school and loose some of that 'Joe six pack' funky talk.
I would hope she does not try and run, she is under qualified, and I don't mean because she is not an insider. Her biggest qualification is that she is not an insider - but her poor judgement in having a private email account used for government business to try and work on the sly, is unforgivable. Likewise turning in perdium requests for her time spent in her home was 'not' a mistake, she got caught, she paid the tax on the money - but if she was someone else she would have been thrown in jail for embezzelment. Yes folks, embezzelment.
Further, her 'excited' association with Henry Kissinger has to be looked at very carefully, wherever that man is, there's trouble, no matter the gender of the presidential candidate or their so-called insider or outsider relationship to Washington. What does Henry think he is? Our king? The man has been around for too many years, likewise Senator Ed Kennedy - time for the old dogs to retire and let some young blood in our government.

SB   July 3rd, 2009 3:39 pm ET

Please, CNN, accept my comment for the very first time.

Seriously, most of you people are utterly frustrating. First and foremost, President Obama is highly qualified. He's very smart, having studied at some of the best universities. Most importantly, he's real. He has a personality and exudes class.

For those of you arduously supporting Governor Palin, are you serious? She's done nothing but create laughs and a whole lot of head-scratching. She's repeatedly demonstrated a severe lack of knowledge on very rudimentary concepts (Remember her interview with Katie Couric?). She's of very little substance. Her responses always tout Alaska, energy, and oil options, but, really, beyond that she's as vague as can be.

Please, Governor Palin, do run. (Somewhere.) Just not for President.

joesmom   July 3rd, 2009 3:39 pm ET

Palin thinks her Christian Taliban will get her into power, but anyone with a brain knows what a kook she is. Besides, I would never vote for someone who couldn't put together more than two sentences without butchering the English language.

Earl   July 3rd, 2009 3:39 pm ET

Palin has her hard-core followers, But a majority of Americasn see her as a bad joke who offers fluff while the GOP (and the country) needs substance.

Travis   July 3rd, 2009 3:39 pm ET

It just amazes me how many of the enlightened and tolerant liberals just absolutely hate this woman. She keeps making news because the media outlets like to see the pavolvian reaction that liberal idiots demonstrate everytime there is a new Palin story.

It has not been the redneck right that has kept her in the news. Rather it has been the whiny left.

Love you Sarah! Go, girl, Go!

What she lacks in linguistic capability, she more than amply makes up in character and values.

She's the Perfect Model of Feminism. She can go out and earn the money to buy the bacon and then go home to the First Dude and cook that bacon to perfection and then tuck her little darlings in bed. As John McCain first said, "She's the type of person who doesn't let anyone tell her to sit down".

She runs circles around Faux Feminists like Hillary Clinton and other women who only got to where they are by hanging onto the coat tails of their husbands. And shutting up and putting up with adultery.

NHSparky   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

The National Society of Newspaper Columnists chose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as the winner of its annual Sitting Duck Award, a tongue-in-cheek honor that pokes fun at the most ridiculed newsmakers in the United States.

Palin beat out Democrat Rod Blagojevich, the ousted former governor of Illinois allegedly caught trying to sell President Barack Obama's Senate seat.

Blagojevich was the runner-up. Palin was noted for making headline after headline, month after month.

The selection was made last week at a conference in Ventura, Calif.

There's no physical award to go with the Sitting Duck title.

Sheratin12   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Yes I agree we need a new joke , the Biden "joke" of 2008 is turning into a nightmare for our country

Common Sense   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

She must really have you libs scared! Look at you frothing and name calling. The prospect of a strong, Conservative woman taking down Comrade Obama makes you soil yourself. Ha!

Lisa P   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Good news for the people of Alaska, bad news for the lower 48.

Bad news for the Republican Party as well - this woman is a rolling political disaster zone. Thought McCain 2008 was a race for the bottom? Wait 'til you see Palin 2012!

Omeca   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

I am so excited for this country. And Honest and Hardworking woman is comming to OUR resuce.

Sarah is going to be the deliverer for all of us who live under the weight of taxes and middle eastern oil tyrannts.

Romney /Palin 12'

MJ   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

So Sarah is going for to run for President as a one-term governor of the country’s third least-populous state, elected with only 48% of the vote, who spent half of that term running for national office. Sure, works for me.

RW   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Sarah Palin intends to run for US Senator in 2010, that much seems clear.

Alaska simply does not supply her with a platform sufficient to remain in the national limlight, at least without generating unhelpful scandals to attract news, so this is a politically smart move. It will be interesting to see how she manages since she will have to run against another woman and Alaskan native in the primaries, Lisa Murkowski.

larry   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Fox news has a job waiting for her....she will fit right in with all the kooks that work there.

Bill   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

The real question is who will vote for the "CHOSEN ONE' when taxes go up for people making under $250,000 after he said no new taxes.

On the other hand they already have [CIGARETTES] for his Socialist agenda....Schip...........Welfare

terico   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Gov. Palin is far more successful than most people. She is a woman of integrity and I hope she will lend her talents to the national stage!

Leonore Dvorkin   July 3rd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Wonderful! If this idiot is the Republican nominee, I can think of no better way to assure that Obama will have a second term. What with having become the fuming, dopey Party of Nope and all the recent sex scandals, as well as keeping this bizarre woman in the limelight, the Republican party seems to have developed a marvelous talent for repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot and assuring their own eventual decline into utter irrelevancy. We Democrats are loving it! Alaskans will probably be glad to see her go. Then she can tumble into the obscurity that she deserves.

David   July 3rd, 2009 3:37 pm ET

The republican party must surely be left with only the dimwitted and racists scum if they think she is actually presidential material. I didn't think they could find somebody stupider than GW, but here she is. Republicans are quickly descending to Khmer Rouge tactics of 'smart people aren't to be trusted'. Didn't you learn anything from brain dead George, Idiocy and you know what run downhill. It would be entertaining, although painful to watch, to see dummy debate Obama however. I suggest everyone watch Idiocracy if they would like to see the world with Palin in charge. Stick to moose hunting with your terrorist loving, seccessionist husband idiot.

In the long run this will be good for the Republican party. Either she'll be beaten soundly in the primaries or she'll be beaten by a landslide in the election. Either result will help the party rid itself of the wing nuts and the Christian Taliban. Only then will the GOP be ready for a return to national prominence.

DB25   July 3rd, 2009 3:35 pm ET

texasgirl   July 3rd, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Oh Lord...here we go. This woman's enormous, pathological ego will not allow her to stay home. She will be running in 2012. Republicans with a brain do not support this idiotic woman.

JW   July 3rd, 2009 3:34 pm ET

When is the Republican party going to get a clue? Is it too much to ask for the GOP to put a strong candidate out there?? Seriously, is it me or is the GOP smoking crack?? I heard SC Gov was a front runner for 2012?? Now Palin is a front runner?? 2012 is a long ways away! A lot can happen between now and then. She'll have plenty of time to make herself look foolish! Obama or Ron Paul 2012!!

LindaforFlorida   July 3rd, 2009 3:34 pm ET

These comments have nothing to do with OBAMA hate...grow up..this woman takes minor situations and makes them into gigantic problems...just be grown up and look at her behavior...can you imagine what she would do on the national stage...her history of overreaction would have us in every war possible ....if these conservatives had a brain at all they would see that..its all about psychology...not hating her..this woman is not prepared for the presidency...how in the world can people not see this...it is beyond me...and I am in no way supporting Obama...I would support anyone qualifiedl..and I am sorry she just is not. She is power hungry...bottom line...not that she is qualified...just her narcissistic personality. And if you think you have hear dirt now...just wait till she runs...

By the time presidential elections are upon us again, Larry the Cable Guy could beat Obama. The damage he has done to this country in just six months is unbelieveable. It is very unlikely that he could win again if the election were tomorrow. There are just too many people with buyers remorse after the mess he has made. Sarah will be a breath of fresh air. Of course the media will do all of the damage it can to her and the Hopeium smokers will play their sophmoric games because they are scared to death of her. She was the only true conservative to run on 2008 and may have beaten Obama if they were head to head. No true conservative would vote to that wacko McCain. he is nearly as liberal as Obama. Give us a true conservative and the Republicans will bury the Democrats.

al   July 3rd, 2009 3:33 pm ET

Sarah Palin as the GOP Candidate in 2012 will give the Democrats an ironclad guarantee of victory. I hope she gets the nomination. The nation needs a national joke during the campaign, and she can be it.

Joe Terrogano   July 3rd, 2009 3:33 pm ET

My congratulations to the citizens of Alaska. I doubt their interests have been well served since the campaign last year. However, this could also be a ploy for more publicity. For those who are really serious about her run for the Presidency, good luck. I predict a major blunder within 60 days into the campaign.

Bob Dole   July 3rd, 2009 3:33 pm ET

William Rosenlof   July 3rd, 2009 3:33 pm ET

John   July 3rd, 2009 3:33 pm ET

I hope she will run for President in 2012 because she will win. She will be the President who can get America independent from Middle East oil. The $700 billion petrodollars that America pours into the Middle East countries annually should be well spent in strengthening America's economy instead of enriching those who sponsor Islamist terrorism around the world. No longer will Americans be ripped off at the pump when Palin becomes President. Moreover, she will be the President who will not be bowing to other foreign leaders.

Sarah Palin is HIGHLY qualified! She has an enviable record of accomplishments in Alaska! Unlike Obama, who suckered the idiots of the country to vote him in - with almost NO record of accomplishment, and NO executive experience!

The people who voted for him can't admit they were LIED TO! Suckers, but the whole country has to pay for it unfortunately.

This is sad actually. Forget Palin, she is irrelevant here. Now news coverage and negative actions have probably forced a high ranking politician to "retire". Many may view that as a good thing but it sets a terrible precedent. Who will want to even serve under such conditions? This country has been spiralling slowly for some number of years, now it appears to be approaching freefall.

George Greenman   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

I can care less if you are Republican or Democrat Sarah Palin is simply not that smart. For Republicans to sit there and ignore the fact that she clearly lacks the intelligence it takes to be CIC is beyond ridiculous. You have other great candidates, why are you all putting your hopes and on her? Did you all see her interviews? Did you see the bumbling mess that she made during those interviews? How can you ignore that? At least Barack and Joe Biden have degrees in law. This lady has a Bachelors in journalism. That doesn't spew extreme intelligence to me. I want a leader, a smart very educated leader. Not some person who barely knew what existed outside of Alaska up until last year. Come on people use some logic.

Sam O.   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

If she can run the country half as well as she has run Alaska, I say she has my vote. I'm sick of the inexperienced "Hope and Change" community organizing bozo we have destroying our economy and pushing us all down the socialist path of misery. Sarah Palin was feared as too inexperienced to be VP, but I don't hear any liberals crying out about the insanity and buffoonery of VP Joe Biden. Bet if she were a Democrat, libs would be swooning over Palin. But then, she would not fiscally responsible, anti-big government, and pro-America if she were a liberal, right? And as far as "women's equal rights," it's commendable for a woman to aspire to fulfill her dreams and potential, but it's conditional as to her being a Democrat. If she's a Republican, then she's a bad mother and bad wife. That kind of equality for women is always denied Republican women by liberals. Mistakes made by Hillary Clinton are ignored or minimalized by libs and the MSM, but exaggerated and magnified when done by Palin. Doesn't the hypocrisy bother ANY registered Democrat?

Carlos   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

In 2008,Mccain was the option for the GOP so they needed to support this woman because they didn't have any other alternative, but now I can bet to anyone that she is going to play with sharks and it's going to be ugly, take a seat and watch how little Sarah learns some politics lessons....

Beverly in NC   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Palin is delusional if she thinks Republicans are going to let her create another disaster ticket for them again. This "dumb as dirt" extremist needs to disappear back to being the nobody she actually is and take care of her dysfunctional family and handicapped child.

Palin is fooling no one anymore. She is a national joke. If the Republicans are stupid enough to run her again, then let them, it will ensure another Democratic Party landslide for Obama and for more huge losses in the Senate and the House.

I'd just as soon not ever have to listen to this moron and her hate rallies again but if the Republicans want to ensure their total and complete defeat in 2012 – then let them use her to completely and finally end their existence as a Party.

TB   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Sorry folks, better regroup.

Obama will not be reelected. He's already showing his true colors, lack of intelligence and voting "present" mentality just as he did as a Senator.

If you reelect him, you're the idoits (with boobs)

Same for Pelosi and the rest of the DC crew.

Don't make me say I told you so.

Jim   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Breaking news? What a joke!
And why do people still talk about Sarah Palin for president? Oh, please! She’s straight out of Pleasantville. She’s merely a “pretty’ republican mannequin with a prerecorded voice box. This country can’t be that ignorant or blind!

Sarah, give my regards to Lawrence Welk! And please check your calendar; this is the beginning of the 21st Century, not the 20th!

Pat   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

If she ran for a second term she would be trounced. She's herself more of an idiot in the last year than she did on the 2008 campaign trail.
She would not have won her second gubernatorial bid, and she will fail in her bid for the 2012 nomination.
She's a moron. Her party knows it and the country knows it.

Cillian 1977   July 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Folks, just because she want to run in 2012 doesn't mean she'll get the nomination for the GOP. Many high profile Republicans have already said they are planning to run and since most of them aren't as stupid as Sarah "I can't name two publications" Palin, one of them is bound to beat her out.

Either way, if she did by some miracle get the GOP nomination, she just handed President Obama his second term. Thank you Palin!

hard to believe   July 3rd, 2009 3:27 pm ET

Through my pretty long life I have seen policians come and go – and I have seen the voters continually settle for less. Somehow we have mixed up the "star" power with the ability to rationalize and compromise, the ability to have introspection, and critical thinking, and finally, just plain good education all the way around. Palin is a "star" that her fans adore, but she does not have the abilities needed to run this country. I'm not sure who is more foolish – Sarah or the people that support her.

Jared from Halifax   July 3rd, 2009 3:27 pm ET

Palin in 2012 ? What a Godsend for Tina Faye and Saturday Night Live !

Bethie in TX   July 3rd, 2009 3:27 pm ET

Sarah is a beautiful, intelligent woman. However, she doesn't do well under the microscope of national politics. She may be pursuing a career that she has already been trained for–something in journalism or talk shows. She would probably be great at that. She'd just be wasting money to run for the Republican nomination, IMHO (even if she'd be fun to watch).

Dwight Frye   July 3rd, 2009 3:27 pm ET

She has the most incredible ego. I can only hope she isn't going for a Senate seat. She has done nothing to improve her political knowledge or her public reputation, but now she's got a book deal so she'll have that spare million or two to run for President. When will we start getting smart people running for office again? I was hoping Pres. Obama was a trend. No such luck.

Alaska will be better off. And I hope she gets the 2012 Republican nomination. It will only further weaken the GOP and demonstrate what they are all about. Plus it would be an easy win for Obama.

geek   July 3rd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

I would have bet and won on her no running. My belief is she might have won an expected primary and likely not the election, therefore not much upside and a huge personal downside. The speaking circuit and a personality show on Fox is her future.

I have not seen the presser but expect "spending time with my family" a cliche to be used.

lulu   July 3rd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Carlos   July 3rd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Of course, she's looking for a senate seat in 2010 and then she will try again but this time is not going to be easy because the GOP circus is already full with all kind of comedians like Sanford,Jindal,Mccain,Romney, etc....oh wait!...she's a comedian too,so welcome!

Wayne H.   July 3rd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Alaska is just too small a stage for Caribou Barbie, and it's also now time for her to cash in on her fame. Look for some variant of a snarky Fox News trash-troweling show. But not to worry; someone this starved for attention, and given to self-righteous pronouncements, will crash and burn sooner or later.

MJM   July 3rd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

TO: Antoine July 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Can you imagine a debate between her and obama? Obama would make her look stupid!
___________________________________________________
He may make her look stupid, but I sure would believe what she says before I would believe him.

JoeR   July 3rd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

wow, cnn readers are real punks...read the comments on this page and it's so obvious.

Voight   July 3rd, 2009 3:23 pm ET

GO Sarah GO!! lets scare the libs at CNN and everywhere else. I would vote for her in a heartbeat!

Polar Bears Against Palin   July 3rd, 2009 3:23 pm ET

Caribou Barbie is a dummy and a right-wing nut job. Republicans are foolish if they think the American people are as dumb as she is and elect this bimbo Presidient of the United States.

Obama would beat her in a landslide.

elle   July 3rd, 2009 3:23 pm ET

Wow, people are so obsessed with Palin. You give her image power in the media. Your reviews, extreme either way, give her the spotlight.

Beth   July 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Wow...this will be best comedy show EVER!! Can't wait to see her run for President. LOL!!

orange_ct   July 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Alaska you guys can rest easy now !!

Chuck   July 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Sarah Palin was not qualified to run for vice president in 2008 and she will not be qualified to run for president in 2012.

Bart   July 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Sayonara, sister! By 2012, Palin will be among the smallest footnotes of American political history, but you have to give her credit: she certainly helped sink the ill-starred candidacy of John McCain. Roll on, RNC (Rove, Newt, Cheney)! The dustbin of history awaits you...

LiLa   July 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

If Palin is "eyeing a run for the White House," she should stop. She hasn't got a prayer in you-know-what. I shudder to think she might have been Vice President. President? No way.

Philip RaZoR   July 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Did Alaska get their monies worth? Thank goodness the republican party didn't...
RaZoR

Walter Kovacs   July 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Please run for president, Sarah!

The Republican Party will go down to wrack and ruin, and think of the awesome run that comedians and satirists will have! Everybody wins!

A. Christian   July 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Be careful about cheering Palin on, just because you think she will be a weak candidate for the Republicans. Too many times these unqualified people actually get elected. (Remember George W. Bush? Remember Ronald Reagan? The list goes on.)

Neil   July 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

God help us all

Peggy   July 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

At least if she does run in 2012, she won't leave her state leaderless for long period of time during a campaign.

Dave in Nevada   July 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Please oh please tell me she's running for the Republican nomination for President. She is every Democrats dream opposing candidate.

Lisa in NC   July 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

She thinks way to much of herself!

fanta   July 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

She's insane
Can't be contained
Will drain the party ranks and split the base

She's a nut
And stupid – but
That's whut will help Obama win the race

lolwut   July 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

how on earth is she considered a frontrunner in '12 when she pretty much cost mccain the election?!

Alex   July 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Palin in the White House? That is scary...real scary. Why doesn't she just take care of her abandonded children instead? Palin: be a mother, be a patriot! Leave us alone!

Antoine   July 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Can you imagine a debate between her and obama? Obama would make her look stupid!

pam Eugene OR   July 3rd, 2009 3:19 pm ET

Great news. The sheer entertainment factor is enormous. I look forward to many months of "Sarah speak".
I think she is also smart enough to know her chances of re election are zero.
The Republican debates for the 2012 nomination will be riveting. I can just see Romney, Gingrich and the other contenders in a war of words with Sarah out of ammunition. This will be great fun, you betcha wink wink!

Ed, Santa Fe, NM   July 3rd, 2009 3:19 pm ET

Moron Palin probably thinks she's gonna devout her time grabbing the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. This one one stupid and dangerous power-hungry woman. Go back to oblivion where you belong!

SGJ   July 3rd, 2009 3:19 pm ET

Good luck Sarah .. and thanks again for making 2012 seem easier.

Matt   July 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Congratulations Alaska! I'm so happy for you.

Tanya   July 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Oh man, will she never go away??????

bob   July 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Let me get this straight: A governor has learned she has had a positive effect on people's lives by traveling OUTSIDE her home state. If that's the best spin available, is it better than no spin at all???

S M R   July 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Just sitting here shaking my head.

N.M   July 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

She wont run again for fear she might lose.
Wich is a real possibility

Karen   July 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

No way, no how will this woman ever be elected to national office. She doesn’t have enough support for her "fans" to put her in, and too many rational, intelligent people would ever vote for her. On the positive side, if she runs, at least she’ll be around for a few laughs.

Shannon   July 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

think about it, are you concerned when men who are in political office are away from their families, or do you think that's ok. Obviously you don't think women are equal to men, and your ignorance is really showing. The only thing that makes me gag are people like you, who haven't discovered yet, that women can and should be able to do anything a man does without some ignorant person posting about them being an unfit mother. I believe our President travels away from his family constantly, when he was a Senator he was only home on the weekends, were you outraged about that. I think he's a great dad, and I'm sure she's a fine mother, I don't care for her politics, but you, you have problems.

George Fremont   July 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Nice to see such sterling examples of "tolerance" and "diversity" being exhibited by the commenters here.

I hope Sarah runs in 2012 and wins. The media's love fest with Barry O probably won't allow that to happen.

A Democrat   July 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Sarah, Sarah, don't run for Governor, run for President. We want you. Pleeeaaaaassssseeeee.

another d   July 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Come on CNN. Do you really think American citizens are holding our collective breath, speculating Palin's plans for a Presidency-run? Stay in Alaska SP. Give it (and us) a rest.

Lisa, Saugus MA   July 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Maybe she is just simply sick and tired of all the negative publicity she has had to undergo. Granted some of it was her own doing but some due to the insincerity of others (i.e. Letterman).

I wish Sarah and Todd Palin and their family all happiness. I hope she enjoys her children, her new grandson, etc. If she decides to run in 2012, well then that will be up to her. People need to judge her at the time because she will I am sure continue to grow as a person and most importantly a woman.

JoeR   July 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

as bad as Obama is, Palin would be a step up

2012   July 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

madame President Sarah Palin, that sounds very nice :)

I wonder if CNN will post this?.....it not anti-Palin.

Bethie in TX   July 3rd, 2009 3:16 pm ET

Yes–please run! It will be entertaining. There's no way she could win the nomination, but she'll make the race much more interesting.

Republican not buying it..   July 3rd, 2009 3:16 pm ET

Hilliary got serious consideration due to being First lady to a very successful President Clinton, coupled with experience as Senator of NY.... She had credibility going into her campaign – while on the other hand, this airhead with boobs has already proven to be the farthest thing from a credible Presidential contender. It will not end well for her. Thank goodness.

Tom   July 3rd, 2009 3:15 pm ET

Great news! She'll make a fine US presidential candidate come 2012. And the Democrats now have a major pick-up opportunity in the Alaska governor's race next year!!

Ro   July 3rd, 2009 3:15 pm ET

She should run just so we can see her fumbling in a debate against President Obama.

Sarah Palin is the biggest fool on Earth if she thinks that she has the qualifications (academic, intellectual, political, charismatic or otherwise) to hold her ground against Barack Obama.

She could barely take on Biden during the VP debates, she was appalling!

After all the fiasco in her home state of Alaska regarding misuse of power, using taxpayer money to take her children on trips and the entire scandal surrounding her daughter's called-off marriage, Palin should know better than to throw herself in the national limelight.

Q   July 3rd, 2009 3:15 pm ET

HEE HEE HA HA!! She's actually gonna run! This is gonna be great! Most amusing news story yet! Sides hurting...can't breathe!!!!!!

Nutty   July 3rd, 2009 3:15 pm ET

Palin should stay away from politics – she's not smart enough, and her views are skitzy

Anthony   July 3rd, 2009 3:14 pm ET

Color me unsurprised.

An analogy to a minor-league ballplayer is apt: if you get your "cup of coffee" in the majors, would you be happy going back to play for the Podunk Boll Weevils?

S M R   July 3rd, 2009 3:14 pm ET

On one of the close-ups of Palin today shows her standing in bright light with diolated pupils. This can only mean one thing: some kind of upper , cocaine. I'd give her a u.a.

Brian   July 3rd, 2009 3:14 pm ET

LOL please run in 2012. make it easy for us dems

Indiana Mike   July 3rd, 2009 3:14 pm ET

Thank God! Now maybe she will disappear from the news.

MoodyBlue   July 3rd, 2009 3:13 pm ET

In this picture, I think Sarah is telling everyone just how close Russia is to her back yard.

Guy   July 3rd, 2009 3:13 pm ET

Knowing how power hungry she appears to be, its an OBVIOUS ploy for a 2012 presidental run. Either inadvertately or by the OCD media, it seems shes trying anything and everything she can to stay relevant. Although, if shes smart she'll run for alaskan senate. Even in 3 years its too premature for her to run, needs more expierence(and knowledge of world events). I say that in the nicest way possible.

Ricci   July 3rd, 2009 3:12 pm ET

She should run as senator, get the experience needed otherwise she does not stand a chance for the white house.

phoenix86   July 3rd, 2009 3:12 pm ET

Here come all the liberal Obamabots with their usual hate. Their fear of Sarah Palin is ever evident.

Al-NY,NY   July 3rd, 2009 3:12 pm ET

@D. No, we actually want to hear her whiny voice and see those stupid winks. What better way to ensure the GOP's disasterous loss of another presidential election than to have this political lightweight as their nominee? As tough as it would be to bear, she is their best chance candidate to make sure the GOP is forever known as the flat earth, Christian fundamentalist (american taliban), and utterly clueless party

fred   July 3rd, 2009 3:12 pm ET

Perhaps we can institute an intelligence test requirement for Presidential Office say an IQ over 120...then we'll be sure she won't make it. Please America, let the people that can actually think logically run the Country. Let the morons stay at home and tend to their family

Shantal S.   July 3rd, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Another Rethug down, more to go :)

Dwight Frye   July 3rd, 2009 3:11 pm ET

No Sarah, don't stay in Alaska. We DO want you here, now more than ever!

ThinkAboutIt   July 3rd, 2009 3:11 pm ET

What a staged photo – spokesmodel hands and that drippy look on her face.

How can anyone take this Caribou Barbie seriously?

ThinkAboutIt   July 3rd, 2009 3:10 pm ET

Oh, GAG! That means she'll have more time to say and do silly things to keep herself away from her family (Trig, in particular) and desperately trying to be in the spotlight.

Our country is great, but we certainly do have wacky reasons for people to be considered celebrities or even worth paying attention to.

Even with a couple years to work on her image and maybe even read a newspaper or two, this woman was and always will be an airhead.

Karl Rove, though, is probably salivating at the prospect of another vote-getting, born-again "Christian" who'll bring in the right-wing sheep votes. (He's probably also hoping we'll get attacked again on our home soil so he can throw Palin out there as someone who'll somehow "keep us safe").

Like I said, GAG!!!!!

VON BISMARK,Vienna.   July 3rd, 2009 3:09 pm ET

This is most logical. She revealed her achilles hills during the ill-fated presidential campaign.

D   July 3rd, 2009 3:05 pm ET

No, Sarah. Please stay in Alaska. We don't want you in 2012.
