First on the Ticker: Palin will not run for re-election

GOP sources tell CNN Palin will not seek re-election.
GOP sources tell CNN Palin will not seek re-election.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is expected to announce Friday that she will not seek a second term, three sources tell CNN.

Palin has scheduled a 3 p.m. ET news conference at her home in Wasilla. The governor’s office offered no further details about the subject of the news conference, but the sources tell CNN that Palin will announce her decision to forgo another run.

"She thinks she has accomplished goals she has set forward," one of the sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said. "She sees what a positive influence she has had on people's lives from traveling the country in the last year."

As the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, Palin is considered one of the frontrunners for the GOP nomination in 2012. Her decision not to seek another term as governor is sure to stoke speculation that Palin is seriously eyeing a run for the White House.

Oh great. Let's go ahead and coronate Palin the presidential nominee now and throw the constitutionist Republican vote away to the Libertarian Party right now to avoid the rush later on?

I enjoy hearing from all the libtardz how Sarah "cost McCain the election." Every braindead DNC sycophant that says that was going to vote for BO no matter what. Sarah made it as close as it was.

She couldn't successfully run a ladies' church group let alone the United States. She doesn't have the smarts, the resilience, the appeal, the temperment for either.

I wish she would just go away but I realize that is unrealistic, and probably not going to happen for a long, long time.

Between writing her multi-million book, doing radio/tv/everything tour and gearing up for the 2012 presidential election we'll be seeing a lot of this vacuous woman.

    Unfortunately.

Sarah Palin is HIGHLY qualified! She has an enviable record of accomplishments in Alaska! Unlike Obama, who suckered the idiots of the country to vote him in - with almost NO record of accomplishment, and NO executive experience!

The people who voted for him can't admit they were LIED TO! Suckers, but the whole country has to pay for it unfortunately.

It makes sense. She would have lost anyway. She should stick to her soft-core photo spreads in the sports magazines.

As an Alaskan – I can't believe I am saying this – to save the rest of the country we will try and keep her here in Alaska. She doesn't do anything anyway for us anyway, so we might as well try and talk her into running again (NOT!). Sorry USA – here she comes! Run for the hills!

Sarah, you're gonna be unemployed for a looooong time. Unless you find a way to use that four year journalism degree that you spent six years obtaining.

She should go back to school and learn about history and the constitution before she runs for anything. I really don't think she is pretty like some do but that is not qualifications for being President.

Keep in mind that the republican party won't even exist by 2012. They're on life support already.

I hope she will run for President in 2012 because she will win. She will be the President who can get America independent from Middle East oil. The $700 billion petrodollars that America pours into the Middle East countries annually should be well spent in strengthening America's economy instead of enriching those who sponsor Islamist terrorism around the world. No longer will Americans be ripped off at the pump when Palin becomes President. Moreover, she will be the President who will not be bowing to other foreign leaders.
