Almost every state leaders is getting pounded by the economy etc. and other blacklash which is typical of off-year elections.

I don't think people should read much into it. It's just a pendulum swing.

I find it amusing that these State Governors are finally figuring out that recession and loss of jobs relate directly to the substantial deficits being evidenced in State budgets. In my State the recession hit hard about two years ago with massive lay offs in the private sector, specifically in the housing and growth and development industries. Permitting through the local municipalities and state was typically at snails pace due to the sheer volume of permits and projects. In my professional lifetime I have witnessed the increase of regulatory control of private property rights that often made me wonder if I were still in America, land of the FREE. The collapse of the housing market and banking problems remedied their work overload, however even with all of private small businesses laying off to skeleton crews to try to stay solvent I have yet to see any Federal, State or local municipality layoffs. The offices remain fully staffed without any work coming in while the employees remain to recieve their scheduled "cost of living raises". If Government would wake up and downsize, deregulate and simply enforce existing rules and laws instead of legislating more they might find themselves operating in the black!

This econony belongs to obama and the demorats. It is going to send them out of office from governors to the congress in 2010 and obama onto the street in 2012. That is if he is not thrown out of office before then because they find out he is not an American citizen.

President Obama has inherited a situation unlike any President in recent memory. 2 wars(One instigated by Al-Queda,one created by George W. Bush), an unregulated financial system that went berzerk when the housing market collapsed, a greedy Wall Street looking for a fast buck, Health care industry that is more for profits than patients, and a Federal government that would rather sit on their thumbs, and do nothing while all this goes on. This President has had to take on the number of issue he has had to because of their urgency and importance. We have needed this kind of honest and open leadership for years, and I am SO glad we have it at last. Keep your faith, General Powell. You made the right decision.

Gi Joe – Learn a bit about polls; They will never be able to poll EVERY Ohio voter, much less all Ohio citizens. So they pick a sample of the population (circa one thousand) and there's the poll. Not accurate numbers obviously, hence the 2.8 %, but it gives a good idea about the state of mind of the Ohio State.
Jon in CA – ACORN, ACORN, ACORN... stop dragging that corpse and give it a proper burying please.
Back at the issue at hand, it was taking some time that the current crisis took its toll on the President's Party, or perhaps it was taking some time that the numbers showed up...

The governor of OH is going through what a lot of democratic and republican governors are going to be going through in 2010. If people living in their states are hurting they will join the unemployed in trying to find another job.

Right now even having the POTUS endorse you won't help since many Americans are finally putting down the kool-aid that was laced with Obama charm and waking up to the fact that their families can't take a vacation, can't buy a hybrid, new house or even receive a paycheck. If it is that way now just imagine if things aren't improved by 2010...then we will have a democrat in the white house and you will see Republican taking back either the house or senate so things will have to get done.

OH voters are waking up just like we are in MA...Patrick is on his way out!

Jon in CA, apparently you have no clue what actually goes on here in the state of Ohio. ACORN wasn't his problems and snooping happens all the time, it wasn't his fault or problem. Strickland has done way more for our state than your governor ever could. Plus we don't have a 53 billion dollar deficit. Strickland's approval may be down a bit but when people get a look at his competition, Kasich, than people will wise up and realize that Strickland is the best option. Try not speaking for the Ohio voters when you know nothing about Ohio or it's people.
