Republicans react to Palin news

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican Governors Association released a statement Friday in response to the Palin announcement:

RGA Statement on Governor Palin’s Announcement

Republican Governors Association Executive Director Nick Ayers issued the following statement in regards to Sarah Palin’s announcement today that she will not seek reelection in 2010 and will step down from the governorship on July 25th.

“While we regret the news announced by Governor Palin today, Alaska will continue to have a Republican governor through 2010 and we are confident the state will elect a Republican in next year’s election.

The RGA’s focus remains firmly on the gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia this year, and the 37 gubernatorial elections that will take place in 2010. We know that winning these races is the most important task facing our Party over the next two years.”

Jbird, "Overused excessive criticism" is a bit excessive.

Now Sarah Palin can come back with a SLAM DUNK! She can now fight back in a wide open court, instead of in a back room.

The Court is yours Sarah? Let's play BALL!

I guess that the director of RGA wasn't given the reason for Palin's irresponsible resignation from her elected position as Governor. This shows every American why she should never be considered as a Presidential nominee, you don't quit your job because a better offer is presented, or your publisher needs your time, and no, not even if your health is in question. I see why the GOP is a house of cards, they're amateurs.

This woman destroyed herself, and allowed her family to be destroyed by running with John McShame. Her ignorance and lack of knowledge of US and world affairs, plus her lack of knowledge and skills, showed the world just what type person she is.
She's as despicable as the rest of the republicans – John Boehner, Lindsey Grahm, John McShame, etc. etc..
She used her family to try and gain the white house – and failed miserably.
So, go home Palin, we don't want you.

Democrats and Republicans need to be very afraid. She is not part of the good ol boy politics. She stands for what she believes in. The people who are so ugly in their remarks just shows ignorance. Instead of calling names, how about an intelligent remark instead. I guess the people calling Sarah Palin bizarre probably never heard of Gerald Walpin the inspector general.

Did she really even care about the people? It almost seems she was parading around as if she was still beauty queen. Don't get me wrong, she is pretty, but there's nothing upstairs. Maybe it's time she stepped down and took care of problems at her home front. Good luck to her!

How's that for courage and the work ethic of finishing what you have started?

What would she have done when the going got tough as V.P. or heavens forbid, President?

My guess is that a nasty skeleton was ready to pop out of her closet and she bailed.

    Dude, you are crazy. Seriously.

Do you see Canadians heading south and leaving "there" nationalized health care system for ours? Do you see Europeans doing the same? Yes, lots of people would love to come to this country, but it's sure as hell not because of our health care system!
Also, can any selfish-me-me-me conservative answer this: why is it that most Europeans, with their "socialized" healthcare, have the same life expectancy as Americans? Those socialist French!!!!!

As far as Congress, Democrats gained control of Congress in 2007. Reps were in control for most of Bush's last term. By then the house was already on fire

Last, whatever happened with the "country first" slogan? Loverboy in South Carolina leaves his responsibilities and heads south to his mistress. Now Palin quits before her term. Makes you wonder

Sarah Palin is the trailer trash of the GOP. As this Republican views it, she should finish INcompleting all of her endeavors. "No politics as usual" is her excuse. Is she switching parties? YEAH!
There's an old saying, "Rehab is for Quitters!". Palin is a quitter and a loser. And she will finish off the party forever.

She's one selfish, lazy woman. She's been absent from her state ever since the election, not doing the job she was paid for, and now she's just going to quit because of her selfish (and laughable) ambitions to run for president?

Marissa, I believe your right. People will only blame who is in charge at the time. Its odd that it was the opposite was true with Bush and 9/11 while the Bush administration sat around on intelligence.

I hope Obamas policies do work, with all the hatred and people like Rush wishing for his failure, it downright unAmerican to witness these rightwing extremists cackle at every insignifcant thing. "..is he a Muslim or wheres his birth certificate?" Goodness, what a joke these buffoons are. They only want to shift your attention away from their failures over the years.

I would not put anything past Sarah Palin. While it is risky to leave her post in the middle of her term you have to pay attention to the way she explains it. She believes that her presence in Alaskan politics is preventing the peoples business from being done. This is because instead of democrats trying to work with her, they are trying to destroy her. So why waste the people’s money and time when she can instead do the STATE OF ALASKA and COUNTRY more service by leaving the post and promoting her conservative policies and fighting for the people throughout the country. Simply put she did not back down from a fight but went on to a larger battle. What is laughable is that you lib’s think that because of this she will have no chance in 2012. The truth is it will be Obama who will have no chance. Americans don't want to be reliant on government, they don’t want high taxes, they don't want out of control spending, and they don't want a weak foreign policy that favors tyrants. They want someone like Sarah Palin who will put people before politics, who will empower individuals with their own destiny, who will not erratically spend your money then raise your taxes, who will have pro-growth free market policies, and who will carry with her over seas pride for America and be willing to defend our country in the face of evil tyrants. So don't say good bye to Sarah start saying your good byes to the joke of a president we have today.

BRAD~ Bush keep us safe? REALLY??? What was 911? Wasn't there a warning a few months prior and the week before the actually attack? Weren't there about 4000 troops killed in Iraq based on a lie? I will need understand the rational here? If there is an attack with Obama, the first one doesn't count then,OK? It only counts if there is a second.

Then they broke laws with there war crimes. They said they had to do it, right? I guess they though that American laws were too WEAK to protect us? I know they have gotten us by for a few hundred years, but torture had to happen because all the laws we followed before were weak? I just want to make sure i understand the GOP mindset.....

I have to laugh at the remarks made by the lunatic libs on this site. You are terrified of Sarah Palin. Her honesty was so foreign to you you can't handle it. No Democrat of either sex has ever been attacked by the news media, idiotic talk show hosts and 'comedians' the way she has been. All of it was FEAR driven. I personally think it would be a great idea for her to run for the Senate.

You are either blind or stupid.

You don't pay much attention to conservative talk show host like O'reilly and the old windbag Limpbaugh do you? Man you ignoance is showing through. These two people alone have been attacking Obama from day one with name calling and lies. What planet have you been living on for the past year? Wake up to reality before it leaves you behind.

Didn't she just QUIT her job as governor of Alaska?

She has seen what Obama is doing to the constitution, and with his backing. Maybe she want's to protect her family from the criminals in the other party. It's ashame how a women who has jesus in her heart is picked on so much by the STATE RAN MEDIA. Her character to me seem to be better then most of the people who make comments about her. It may of been hard being a honest person among a den of dishonest people (Obama). I hope she goes back home and still guides her family to living a better life.
